Iam buying a i5 4670k with z87 g1.sniper killer and a single 8gb hyper x furry ddr3 1600mhz with Rx 560 the monitor going to be HP z22i ips 60hz for the case cooler master cmp 500 with cooler master thunder 600w psu All of this for 358.81dollars Is that a good choice or I could make a better build with this money

Hey y'all, I know this has been posted before, but I wanted to post it again in light of new patches. BF1 has ran pretty underwhelmingly for me: Here's my rig: 4670k OC'd to 4.24ghz @ 1.22V, CPU cores unparked. Cooled with NZXT X61, never even hits 70 degrees GTX 1080 (Asus STRIX), not OC'd 16GB Corsair RAM @ 1600Mhz Corsair 850W PSU, MSI Gaming 7 mobo, HyperX Savage 500GB SSD. First order of business, the reason why my CPU is rather old while I'm running a GTX1080 is because I upgraded a 3 year old computer, and decided the CPU didn't have to be replaced. For BF1, I usually get 75+ FPS (I've capped the FPS to 75 to help my issues). However, in intense scenes or after an hour of gaming, I get FPS drops to the low 30's at times. It's very bothersome. My CPU is almost always maxed at 100%. I don't know if Shadowplay effects my CPU usage that much. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problems as me, and how they fixed it. I don't think I want to upgrade (I'd have to buy a new mobo since buying a Haswell i7 doesn't sound like a smart idea at the moment). The cost would be upwards of 500 bucks for an 7th gen i7 and a mobo, which would theoretically fix my problems.

Ive had my 4670k + NH-D15 for a very long time but never bothered to overclock it as I was so concerned about silence. But now I figure instead of looking for an upgrade Ive decided to open the gas and see what I can get out of it. Naturally the OC genie on my MSI z87 G43 Gaming mobo gives me 4Ghz which is pretty awful considering boost on this thing is 3.8. So I need you guys help with getting a stable OC on this puppy. Shooting for close to 4.4GHz which given what Ive read should be easily achievable. I need instructions though, I know how to stability test the OC but getting there in the first place is the issue. Im assuming I dont just throw on 1.35v and stick the multiplier to the correct setting.

Hi all, so still looking at upgrading my gaming/streaming setup been looking at getting the i5 4670k or 4690k if can get one same price, but also I have been looking at the i5 7600k the new 7th gen cpu. All the cpus are the same price which is kinda why I was looking at the 7600k however as it is so new there doesnt seem to be many motherboards that are not £130 or more to support the chip. As well as doing comparisons as it is not added to the data base on cpuboss. So In basic question what is the best cpu to go with the 4670k 4690k or the new 7600k all i5 as there around £230 each? Also what board is good to go with for the cpu was looking at the msi z270 board for the 7600k ideally would like to spend £60 - £80 on a board but if its best to spend a little more then what would you guys recommend. I use it for streaming to Twitch, Youtube and hitbox as well as gaming latest titles like GTA V, battlefield, rainbow six seige. Thanks

I currently have an i5-4670K (stock clock---3.4/3.8GHz, 4c/4t), GTX 1070 (Asus ROG Strix OC), on Intel's DH87RL motherboard with 16GB of DDR3 1600 (4x4GB). I run my games at 1440p on my 1440p,144Hz Dell S2417DG. I did a full reinstall of windows 10 last month. Thermals are relatively low, the 1070 in games hits ~60C, the CPU stays around 50C. EDIT: CPU usage in Unigine Valley is 50-60% and in PU: Battlegrounds is 85-100%. PCPartPicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/spaniel53/saved/KCv3CJ I recently suspected some bottle-necking when comparing my fps in certain games as compared with my friends (who have the same graphics card--GTX 1070). To test this, I ran Unigine Valley at a number of settings on my PC, had a friend do the same(He has Zotac's GTX 1070 AMP! Edition), then took my card over to his place and had him run them again on his PC with my card replacing his. His PC: i5-6600 (4c/4t, 3.5/3.9GHz), Zotac's GTX 1070 AMP! Edition, 16GB of DDR4 2133 (2x8GB), with the MSI B150I Mobo (mini-ITX). The test results listed are for Valley 1.0, DX11,1080fullscreen, ultra, 0xAA, Extreme Tess. (And yes, I did run my benchmark at 1080, not 1440. I unplugged my 1440 monitor and only had my 1080 monitor connected to run the benchmark.) The evidence seems to point to a CPU bottleneck, but my friend's CPU seems VERY close in performance to mine (4c/4t, 3.5/3.9GHz). Could it be a motherboard issue or even a RAM speed issue? Seems very unlikely as well... I would appreciate any insight into this strange situation. I'll be quick to respond to any questions. Thanks.

Hello there people ! Okay so basically the story went like this : Had an SSD in my build played AAA games with my 4670k and GTX1060 + 8 GB of RAM everything worked fine. Had to switch out the SSD and bought a 1 TB WD Black HDD (I thought those are fast) now my system is eons slower and the games keep stuttering. BF1 is unplayable , BF4 on Ultra too and TF 2 lags every time I press any function button that changes my volume or starts the browser or anything alike. My Build is suited in a mid tower desktop PC and temps look fine. I still run the standard Intel cooler on my 4670k (not OC'ed) I thought with my upgrade from the GTX660 to the 1060 I could enjoy some quality 60 FPS gameplay back home but boy was I wrong. So this is where you people need to step in and save my ass - My thoughts so far : Need to Upgrade to 16 GB of Ram ? Overclock the CPU with a new Cooling Solution ? (Buy a new LGA 1150 Cpu ?) Hello again great LTT people! After deciding to ditch the idea of a massive upgrade to my PC (new CPU, mobo, RAM and GPU), I've came to a conclusion that my current rig isn't all too bad... Now I think that my upgrade will be only getting a new (really) future proof GPU, I wanna get the EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 (was thinking about the ROG Striks at 1st), and to get another set of my current RAM and turn my 8GB into 16GB. And then came in the thought process... Is getting a new set of (the exact same) RAM and using it along side an old set will have any effects? And is getting all new RAM better? Right now I'm not using nor planning on using anything above 1080p, well... Maybe I'll get a new 2k to run alongside my current 1080p monitor, but I want to be sure that I won't run into any GPU caused bottlenecks when considering any kind of future upgrades (be it monitors, games or total system overhaul). What do you think about that..? Hey guys, so I've had the same system for almost 4 years now. i5-4670k @ 3.8Ghz (boost to 4) 16GB of ram, 600W PSU, 240GB SSD, 2TB HDD, GTX 960 4GB. Since i've started playing GTA V again in the past few months, I've noticed that the game performance a lot worse than it used to be, a year or so ago it ran perfectly on very high settings, now my CPU usage is pinned at 100% constantly while playing. My friend has a GTX 1080 and an i7-4790k which is pretty much the same as my CPU only with hyperthreading and a slightly faster clock speed, so he disabled HT and underclocked his CPU to 3.8 so it was the same as mine and we did the same tests on GTA V. His CPU ran at 90-100% while mine was still at 100%. With HT enabled, he runs at around 60%. Both were running at 1080p, his graphics settings were also higher than mine. Is my quad core i5 really not good enough for GTA V? Does GTA really need more than 4 cores to run optimally? Rockstar recommend a quad core i5-3470 @ 3.2GHz but i'm fairly certain my cpu is way better than that and is apparently not good enough. Has anyone got any suggestions as to whats going on? Is my system just performing abnormally or is it time to say goodbye to the i5? Also would be great to here from anyone else who has a similar CPU about their performance.

Hello again LTT..! I'm trying to OC my 4670k by following ProKoN's guide, and after figuring out what went wrong with my settings (I've fiddled with some automatic settings and adjusted some default stuff that didn't seem right to me), after hitting a stable clock of 4.1 on 1.26v I've decided to go on with the next step, to find a stable bus ring clock, so I've set the bus ring voltage to 1.26v and started looking for the clock setting but with no luck, so I've asked my good friend Google (which so far helped me a lot by telling me that VRIN is infact VCCIN) but with no success... After looking at XTU I saw that the cache voltage was chabged, than later on I've changed the uncore clock and saw that it changed the cache clock as well, my questions here are: A. Is that cache/uncore ratio the same ring bus that I was looking for? B. Are those default automatic settings things I needed to change to manual (per core friquancy, automatic voltage settings etc..)? Thanks in advance. KermitFTW

So I recently gave my old Z87 a breath of fresh air and brought it up to 2017 standards. The 4670k is OC to 4.2ghz at 1.2v and the 980s running at 1501mhz on their cores and 4000mhz on the memory. The pcpartpicker link is on my profile if you want specs on the full build.

Doing some shopping for my girlfriend for the holidays and I was looking at getting her an Acer Z35. I had built her a computer a while ago and her current specs are a gtx 770 4gb model and an i5 4670k. She mainly plays World of Warcraft and I want to make sure it's able to support the 2560x1080 resolution or if I should consider upgrading the video card to maybe a 1060 also. Ideally, I'd like her to be able to run at least 80 fps average so she could benefit from the higher refresh rate with g-sync.

Hello I would like to overclock my 4670k (haswell) to 4.6 Ghz and wanted to ask how high the core voltage can go without damaging the cpu. because in order to run reasonably stable I have to give already 1,400v. are 1,400v still ok?

Hi guys, I have a GTX 1080 and I'm looking to upgrade basically everything but the GPU and drives. I got an i5-4670k @4,3GHz right now and am looking to upgrade to 8700k. So the question is: Should I wait for the 9th gen Intel or just grab the current i7 at slightly lower prices than when released. I need just gaming performance, no rendering or workstation stuff is intended for this build. I'm gaming at 1440p, 165Hz. Games I play are mainly PUBG, Dota 2 and any new good release. If the rumors of the i7 getting rid of hyperthreading and giving it to just i9 and making the i9 cheaper doesn't sound great to me. My school mate also said something about that the new gen having better TIM under the IHS and slighlty better clock (cca 200 MHz). Since Coffee lake came out around this time last year is it worth waiting slighlty longer for what most likely will be just a refresh of CL? It's still going to be 14nm right? I just want to grab a new pc ASAP since both pubg and dota both are getting bottlenecked by the CPU. So what do you guys think? I'm open to any suggestions. Good morning fellas, A friend and I are trying to upgrade (or for him build) our PC's. I currently run my I5 4670k (aftermarket air cooler) @ 4.2 GHz. Plus 8GB of DDR3 RAM (1333 Mhz). GA-Z87X-D3H Motherboard. ASUS GTX 1060 6GB. 500 GB SSD + 1TB WD Black HDD. So the problem is... even on 1080p I can't play BF1 stutter free. Do I need an upgrade ? If yes what do you recommend ? We both thought of building ourselves real manly-man-machines this time: (our thoughts) - I7 8700K - 16GB DDR4 RAM - Motherbooard(?) - GTX 1070/80 TI (?) - Storage individually I'd be happy if you guys could help us out Greetings, Adil

Hi Everyone, Having some issues with my mother board recently, causing my machine to randomly reboot. So I am going to change out my hardware. Now because I only play at 1080 I just dont need bleeding edge. I also simply cant afford it. So i am looking to swap out and keep what I have running as long as possible. I have already looked to simply swap my board out, but I am struggling to find them now for the am3 platform. Having looked around I can get a 4679k for about £110 and it will work with my current cooler and could keep using my ram. So for about £150 ish I could probably swap over to the intel platform and be able to game for a few more years without too much hassle, albeit not at the highest settings. What do you all think?

I screwed up a friends build please help! He bought a computer with a Motherboard, 16GB's of DDR3 RAM (Corsair Vengence I believe), a GTX 950 (which he is going to replace with a GTX 1070) and a Seasonic 750watt power supply for under $200. The motherboard is an LGA115x type and I found a 4930K for $170 and I TOTALLY blanked that the 4930K is I believe FCLGA2011 until after he purchased and he can't cancel. I feel like a TOTAL dick but I saw that 4930K and he's the type of person that knows nothing about PC's and I wanted him to have a PC that was equal to or better than my Ryzen 1600 + GTX 1060 6GB rig so that we could play games together and he would have NO issues now and into the future. Original plan was a 4670K but I saw them going for $130-$160 and the 4930K just seemed like the better deal. Idk why I thought it was LGA115x. I really only have experience with the latest 2011-3 sockets and older stuff like the 2600K. I want to get him a cheap 2011 motherboard that won't require BIOS updates to function out of the box. I would have gone Xeon route but I don't want him to have to buy ECC memory when he has DDR3 already. Even though it is a K chip, he likely won't be overclocking at all to start with and if he does, it will be minimal. He'll be using an air cooler. I figure VRM's don't have to be amazing quality since he won't be overclocking really that much if at all and 2011 boards are probably built solid across the board (no pun intended) for power delivery. I REALLY would appreciate ANY help, I do NOT like screwing over my friends, he is a bit impatient but part of that is my fault so I want to get him a board ASAP as he is coming up to visit with the case (supports full size ATX) and I want to get the 4930K running with his steam library. He is currently a console peasant lol but is really interesting in PC gaming. I am really looking for a proven board that WILL work with the 4930K. Unfortunately, I don't live on the tech coast so I can't just test the CPU in someones board. I was hoping to get a used board for $100-160 and I am willing to ship in $20-30 because he's helped me in the past and he's a Veteran with A LOT going on. tl;dr - I accidently got my friend to purchase a 4930K instead of a 4670K for an LGA115x board because I thought it would work. My buddy is a veteran with a lot going on and I am looking for a decent quality 2011 board that will work out of the box with a 4930K. It is important to me. Any help is appreciated. -
So right now I'm sitting on a i5-4670k, a GTX 770 2GB, and 16GB of RAM at 1600MHz. I considering buying a GTX 1070 or GTX 1060 and that's all. But with Skylake and DDR4 out, and newer games becoming more and more demanding, I've also been considering a full system upgrade or just building a whole new rig and selling/gifting my old one. So I'm just wondering what people who aren't myself think and would do. suggestions Thing to know: >I don't have any plans to use VR >Money IS an object, I'm not loaded >I like turtles >I'd like to play CS @ 144fps and most other games I'll be fine with at 60fps or more and maybe 1440p if I get a monitor that supports it.

Hey-a I have recently take notice on my CPU with the recent GPU I made. So the source of my worries is the lower FPS i'm getting at Witcher 3 when comparing to my friends build which is also running identical GPU, but the CPU in question is i7-3770K. Game is set on Ultra I average about 60-85Fps, dropping to 50's in most demanding area of the game. CPU usage 100% almost the whole time He gets around 100Fps, never dropping under 60fps. CPU usage 60%-80% Also, when testing around with Battlefield 1 Beta (I know, not something I should put too much trust into), I get drops to around 45fps now and then. Rest of the time 70-90fps (100+ if looking at a desert) Also 100% usage the whole time. Is such high CPU usage normal? Going forwards, is the time of i5's as "good enuff" for gaming over? So I've been overclocking my 4670k for a long time, but never on this motherboard (I think). My last motherboard had some fancy auto-voltage thing, so I never had to worry about my voltage into the cpu. This time around, I've gotten a stable overclock at 4.15 (4.2 in bios) GHz with a voltage of around 1.200v. I don't have enough experience to know if this is a good voltage to be running the cpu at. Also, as soon as I try going for 4.3 in the bios I start getting instabillity, and I'm not sure if it's because of the voltage. Any tips?

Hey guys, and girls obviously I am planning to upgrade my desktop pc, but i am not really sure what to buy. On the one hand i would like to get a new monitor, i thought of the Samsung S34E790C. But if i would get one of those, i would certainly need a new graphics card. So for that i thought about getting either a 1070 or a 1080, but on the other hand i don't wanna spend so much money on these things. The other question i am asking myself is about my CPU, currently a 4670K@4.2 GHz, because i am not sure if it would bottleneck the new graphicscard... I need help, please give me your thoughts on my dilemma, i will read all answers and consider all possible solutions.

So i was thinking of upgrading my PC to a Skylake i5 6600K from a Core 2 Quad Q9550, but as soon as i had all my shopping list sorted out a i5 4670K almost complete computer (no dist GPU) fell into my lap and now my question is if its worth the upgrade from i5 4670K to i5 6600K? So the follow up question is allso, would it be worth even tho the computer came with SSD, 16GB Ram, PSU,Mobo etc and the alternative would be to spent my "upgrade budget" all on a GPU and periferals. Or Cannibalise the SSD and PSU and buy the upgraded pc i was thinking of in the first place? Side note: i have a sapphire R9 285 Dual X in my current build i was about to migrate to the new.

I have so many doubts :- 1ST of ALL DO I REALLY NEED TO OVERCLOCK 4670K for gaming ( BF4,CSGO etc,) ?? If yes then answer these please 1) Can only Z-series mobos overclock an unlocked CPU like 4670K to a decent amount ? 2) How much H- mobos can overclock ? 3) Suggest me a cheapest mobo that can OC i5 4670K little bit if needed in future gaming.
