While attempting a +160 on the core of my 3GB MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X; even though power & voltage limit were set to max, it still somehow hit a power limit of 1 & throttled down to 1800 something after a few hours of Heaven. It was only running at 2060 something & fans maxed at about 60, same with temp. I have Nvidia control panel set to prefer maximum performance & Windows 10 set to similar too. Is there something faulty with my card or did I just lose the silicon lottery really bad?

Microcenter has a memorial day sales event and one of their sales is a gtx 1060 3gb card for $150. I currently have a gtx 550ti 1gb, i3 6300, and a seasonic 520watt fully modular psu would any of my specs be a bottleneck? Link: http://www.microcenter.com/product/470409/GeForce_GTX_1060_Mini_3GB_GDDR5_Super_Compact_Video_Card Got an email saying it is $140 for in store pick up only.

Alright so although I haven't run any several hour long stress tests yet, but the highest my 3GB MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X has reached is 2126 on the Core & 4604 for Memory. That's from adding +160 & +600 respectively, without any additional voltage percentage just fan adjustment & power limit at 108% (max). Those are the MHz Unigine Heaven & Valley are reporting though, while Afterburner claims 2063 Core & 4608 Memory. 1: Which do I believe or should I sooner trust HWMonitor over either? 2: Should I do the same many recommend for CPU's & just put my GPU Core Voltage at 100% too, then slowly dial it back until whatever max Core Mhz OC I find becomes unstable? 3: The +600 on Memory is the highest I've read in recommendations elsewhere, but how much farther do y'all think I should push it? 4: Should I OC Core & Memory separately at first so when a crash occurs I can more easily narrow down the cause? 5: Is my fan curve alright or could it be improved for reduced noise & equivalent cooling?

Hey guys, I need some help with choosing a graphics card Originally I was going to get the EVGA 1060 3GB, then I was told to get the 6GB, but in the end I forgot to tell them something Heres what I plan building CPU: Intel i5 6500 3.2 GHz - $200 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B150-DS3H Micro ATX LGA 1151 - $60 Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 - 2133 - $42 Storage: WD Blue Caviar 1 TB - $50 Kingston 120GB SSD - $45 GFX Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB - $240 Case: Corsair Spec 02 - $60 PSU: Corsair CXM 450W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power supply - $30 Total cost - $732 Now the thing is, I don't plan on doing 4k, my current monitor (the one I'll be using for a while) is a old (2010?) 1440 x 900 17" from HP, but I only plan to upgrade to a 1080p monitor, if I save the 50-60 on the graphics card I can use it to get a good 1080p monitor Also what monitors do you recommend? (Nothing 4k)

Today's trip to the store: (for a small DVD package - wandering eyes) I decided to see what the PNY GTX 1060 OC 3GB would do in my system. It was just $250.00 at Best Buy (local walk-in store). I purchased it and ran it through 3DMark/Fire Strike and Unigine Heaven benchmark programs. The scores, on average, were 10% to 15% higher than my current EVGA GTX 970 SSC 4GB video card. Nothing at all dramatic but surprisingly good performance. If you have 8GB of Memory your fine. If you have an Intel i5/i7 4-core/Socket 1150 CPU you will most likely be in good shape with this video card. The GTX 970 SSC 4GB will now be my backup video card. Nothing at all wrong with it but it's always nice to have a backup. ------ Hope this report helps others who are pondering the switch from DDR3 to DDR4 systems or have simply wondered if an upgrade to the GTX 1060 3GB might be an option for their current PC.

Hey there, The 3GB KFA2 GeForce GTX 1060 OC would cost 205€ The 6GB ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini would cost 260,44€ Would it make sense to spend these 55€ more for the performance difference? Which one should I go with? Or should I go with an AMD card at about the same price range?

After weeks of testing I came to the conclusion that +140 on the core & +700 on my 3GB GTX 1060 Gaming X with voltage & power limit set to max was the best stable choice. At these settings it stayed locked at 2050Mhz on the core & 4705Mhz Memory for 5+ hours in Unigine Heaven & Valley. Whenever I tried to add more than +140 the 2063 & higher clocks were never steadily maintained for an extended period, even with fans keeping the card under 62C. Either I'd hit power limit of 1 & the card would significantly throttle down to 1800s or it'd just gradually drop the 2050 I came to accept. Now however after finally testing this OC in my main game RuneScape, I'm seeing core clocks regularly hit 2075Mhz while running around. 1: Should I be concerned about running it at this higher than tested clock speed? 2: Should I simply just play the game at this OC for a week or month & if it's okay then don't worry about it?

Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forum so be gentle to me if I'm doing something wrong here. lol Anyway, I'm planning on upgrading my GPU. It's definetly going to be Nvidia, because I have bad experiences with AMD GPU's. I'm not someone who is currently playing the next gen games, so I don't want to get crazy and buy a 1080ti. So I will most likely buy a 1060 because it's capable of maxing out most games I play. That includes f1 2016, The witcher 3 (not completely maxed out), gta 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider and older games like Bioshock Infinite, AC and Far Cry. But I'm in a dilemma, should I get 3gb vram or 6gb. I know what it does and so on, but is it just better to get 6gb just so I never run into a maxed out vram problem (which I am having now with my gtx 760). I play 1080p 60 frames, I'm not hardcore than probably most of y'all. I'm just looking for a gaming experience, where I can just put the setting on high/ultra and get 60fps or more. My budget for this GPU is 350 euro's, so just to let you know if you maybe have alternatives. I also have another question, maybe I should make another thread. But this whole GPU mining thing, I don't understand what the heck is up with this and why it's affecting the prices of GPU's. Can somebody explain that to me, if you will? that'd be nice Thanks

Hi, first of all, i am self toad speak english, aaaaand my first post here, so expect a little bit of dumb-writting of my part (if thats makes any sense). To the point: i recently buy the asus dual gtx 1060 3gb gddr5 (arround 250 us dollars here -argentina-, the 1060 6gb version cost plus 80 so, no way, no money, 1070 go up at least another 250, and 1080 dont want to know), i expect some upgrade from my previous vcard (r7 250 ultimate 2gb gddr5). The change was gigantic, but, i can't really make the difference between the 1080 and 1060. I know the difference in vram, cuda cores, and other stuff, but i see a lot of test in the 1080, and tried in my 1060. I was shock in one way (cpu bottleneck haha -we cant expect much of an a10 7850k overclocked at 4.5ghz but still-), i see that my vcard in idle managed 1540, and see a LOT of vids that the turbo in this particular card go as much as 17xx mhz, but in my case, my card goes up to 2016mhz in turbo mode with an stable 65C° with no thermal throtle at all. I push even further with evga xoc and managed to overclock at 2182mhz core and vram from the 4000mhz stock to 4200mhz-ish with upper 60C° to middle 70C° (sometimes got 76C° but drop to 75C° almost instantly) without changing voltage (if blows up, i never can buy another). I want (if its possible), to see (if anyone -or linus, if he want-) make a video to see the difference in real world ('cause i barely got my 1060, and my pocket still hurts, no way buying the 1080) between this two cards (the same, asus dual gtx 1060 3gb vs 1080). P.S: whenever i have time, i update this post with screen captures. Writing in my phone at 5 a.m, warm in my bed, and with the cold in this house, nah, im not waking up now. Note: if you make trhougt and still here, and, if you can understand me, you are a fucking genious, and... go to the clinic... maybe your eyes start to cry blood. EDIT: here we go with the screen captures (i made a few mistakes, 1569mhz stock without turbo, 1974mhz turbo enabled, aaaand, the overclock crash with the sintetic stress in aida64 (in games has no crashed yet), but, at least, this are the frecuencies at stock-turbo. For some reason when the turbo kicks in, the clock of the memory goes down 200mhz (at least that is in the evga software)

Hi guys. I bought an MSI Nvidia 1060 3GB less than a year ago and out of the blue it stopped working. I tried reinstalling drivers and resetting windows and came to the conclusion that it was just broken. I later decided to save up my money and just buy another one. So I did that but this doesn't work either. I don't know why this has happened. Whenever I right-click on the desktop I can't see the option for Nvidia Control panel and when I try to open it with Nvidia Geforce it says that I don't have an Nvidia card attached. In device manager it shows the card under display adapter but it has an error, code 43 with it. Before this card I had a AMD 7950 which worked fine but when I first upgraded to the 1060 it worked also so I am not sure why its decided to not work. I also try to update Nvidia Geforce but everytime I boot up it says I need to install the driver again. Windows itself gives me a notification that I must restart to finish preparing the 1060 but that shows up on each boot up. Please help I'm really freaking out about this. I've already posted this on reddit and got directed to here. I really hope you can help me. To start off, here are my current specs. I am wanting to upgrade to a gtx 1060. not sure which one to get though. Current Specs: - Intel Core i7 3770 - 16gb 1333 mhz - Asus GTX 780 - Thermaltake 600W PSU - Asus 1080p 2ms gaming monitor You are probably wondering what games i play. I play BF1, squad (terribly optimized, in alpha), Stars Wars Battlefront, GTA V... HOWEVER, I like playing these games with supersampling, so im thinking I should lean towards the 6gb card, as I try to set the resolution around 1440p levels, then it downscales to 1080p, results in a more detailed pixel. To my knowledge, going from a 780 to a 1060 is actually a big performance jump, as the 780 is terribly optimized.

Why should I spend $40-70 for a 6GB card? If you think either is better value, please suggest what model you recommend. Userbenchmarks says the 6GB version has only a 8% increase in performance over the 3GB version.

If you paired the Asus GeForce GTX 1060 Dual OC 3GB with a i5 6500 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Processor, will it bottleneck? Because Game-Debate clearly says its the best CPU match. I don't know if its truthful or if its a hoax. Thanks!

Hi! A friend of mine has 2 PC's. He was wondering if it is possible to pair an MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X from one of his PC's with an MSI GTX 1060 3GB Gaming X from the other (but in the same pc.) Will it work and will it work well? Thank you. Sincerely Jacob

Hi I'm buying a used GPU in the next couple weeks and I was wondering if I should get the GTX 1060 3gb or 6gb. The performance boost seems pretty good but the price is my issue. I can get a GTX 1060 3gb for $90 or a GTX 1060 6gb for $135. Is it worth $45? I only have about $95 right now so do you think it would be a better idea to buy now for a 3gb card or wait a month or so for a 6gb variant? Thanks in advance!

Hi! My friend is building a budget gaming pc, and we setteled for an i5-8400 and a used graphics card. For budget options the best bets are the GTX 970 and GTX 1060 3GB on the used market in my country, both going for around 190-215$. New 1060 3gb is 300$, others are much more expensive. I know that the 1060 3GB is slightly more powerfull, but the vram is less. I am also conserned about the miner 1060-s, because it was really popular for mining here. He will mostly play PUBG, GTA 5, CS GO. Pros and Cons appreciated. Thanks! The system: Gigabyte B360M H i5-8400 2x4GB gskill DDR4 2666 MHz 256 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD EVGA 500 B1
