Hey Gang! A friend of mine forwarded me to the LTT forums after I asked if they knew anyone who would have experience or knowledge for someone purchasing a large bed 3d printer. I've never owned a 3D printer, but I've learned the basics from my experience on the Creality CR-10 printing for my local robotics team, and I have people in my life who understand and are willing to lend a helping hand when I encounter issues with 3D printing. I'm finally ready to obtain a printer of my own, so came to the forums searching for people with experience with the large bed (300x300m or greater) printers, such as the Creality Ender 5 Plus and the Anycubic Kobra 2 Plus. The sales are still on, and I'm seeking purchase advice before they pretend to be a bar of soap and give me the slip! All opinions are welcome, my budget is around 500 USD, and I have the support to and will to upgrade parts. I plan on using the printer primarily for Cosplay, but I have other practical applications that could make great use out of a printer. I would prefer, and was recommended to get a CoreXY design by my experienced friend running a Bambu P1S, but I'm open to suggestions. Hello, last weekend I went to micro center and bought the Ender 3 v2. I was told that it was a great printer for the price so I thought I would try it. after I had gotten it all built I obviously tried to print something. then I saw it move the filament with the nozzle of the 3D printer (Like it would push already printed filament out of the way or continue to drag the bit of filament that was just recently printed). I've tried re-leveling the printing bed several times and still the same issue. so I read online that painters tape works for better grip. I tried that and it works better than before but it still moves parts of the print with the printing nozzle. its been a week and im pretty sure Micro Center only allows me to return it within 15 days of it being bought. it would be cool if it would work properly but if it doesn't work then I'd rather return it. ASAP - Hey all, so I'm a digital artist, well, was, wanna make a resurgence. I know nothing about building a pc - I go onto a site, and use the drop down options and pick ones that are fairly close to the bottom in the hope they are the best haha. All I currently know is that I would like the 3080 graphics card so that I can dynamesh huge amounts of polys without zbrush freezing or crashing as it does now. Any advice would be amazing, I'd really like a good few ideas I can go to someone with and have them order the parts and build it for me. Local business. I have an Ender 3 Pro and some files print but others don't, let me explain The files that don't work will have the Extruder moving around, but they do not print anything.

I could use some help building a rig for 3d modeling for 3d printing that would also work alright for gaming. I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to picking out hardware but lets put the budget at $2000 USD. Thanks!

For my engineering design class we were given a project to make our own flash drive in solidworks. Having a flash drive with no outer case lying around my room I asked my teacher if I could make a case for it. My case was printed in a top, center, and bottom section and was not scaled. Will post the .stl files tomorrow for anyone who wants to print them.

Anyone own a davinci Jr? I am looking to get one (probably 1.0W) and want owners opinion on the printer. Do you find drm filament annoying? Anyone know if XYZPrinting is working on ABS for this printer? Is it worth hacking the NFC chip? So many questions! HELP!!!!

Hi I have noticed during the last few years there have been more and more 3D printed parts used by LTT in the videos. and I was wondering if LTT would publish these 3D models or just til STL files for the community or on a site like Thingiverse or Prusaprints. In a resent floatplane video Linus is showing a 3D printed part for a radiator and I was thinking that this also might be a part that other people could have a use for, the same with the 3D printed Ram trays i have seen in some videos and the list goes on and on.. So does any one else that think the community should "kindly ask" LTT to publish the STL files that they are able to / allowed to publish for all our benefits or will we have to get them at lttstore.com

Earlkase had almost 0 flow through the front panel, a single tiny inlet at the bottom. No flow through my front radiator. Decided to fix it. Whipped up a trapezoid with a rear recess to insert filter media. Cut it out with a dremel.

Hi, This is my first post here, but I've been lurking around in the forums and on the LinusTechTips-youtube channel for at least 4 years. I am well known for writing a bit too much.. So I am just gonna say if you need to skip to the bottom part, then yeah - do it! But it might become sort of a enjoyable story, I don't know.. hopefully some will find it an interesting read! Just a "short" introduction.. I built my first custom PC 5 years ago and when I first started it, smoke came out and i threw it outside through the door - But other than that it works to this day! For almost 2 years I have been working a small case for desktop PC's - and yes I know there is a lot of them, but I don't get that "wow" feeling if you know what I mean. It first started out as a hobby project of mine, I have a friend that visits my home town every summer and we usually play a lot of games during that time and what I usually do is I bring my laptop to his house and he brings his - And then we try to play games at a decent frame-rate (usually like 15-20 FPS) - I use a asus zenbook that is 2 years old that I bought for $500 and my friend uses a similar laptop (pretty much the same model, just different specs). But after a while I got sick of not being to play the games or use the software's I use at home (cinema 4d, 3ds max etc).- I started to look for options! I wanted a small PC with the performance of a desktop, or more performance than a "normal traditional" one. Something I could bring at LAN-parties/work or school. I didn't want to buy a gaming laptop, they are expensive, i mean they are and when they break - they break. I have done several motherboard repairs on laptops in the past but geez, it grows on you - after 3-4 times (especially when you do it for yourself).it kinda takes the fun out of it. I also wanted it to have everything included, no extra cables, no need to bring a screen, keyboard etc - But it was really hard to find one, especially at the right price - I wanted a real gaming desktop pc for less than $700 with everything I mentioned above + similar size to a laptop (not wideness but in length and height) - after 2 weeks of constant searching and looking, I gave up.. Nothing I found was really something I would want on my desk. Here comes the part that actually is on topic! Luckily I have access to 3D-Printers and lasers so I started to CAD-model a mini itx case that would be suitable for printing and laser cutting. I also looked through materials that I use and I got stuck on stainless steel and wood. I have probably made over 25 different cases and it wasn't until recently when I actually took a good look at all of them and realized that I must be a bit insane. But well it did the job, I now have a final design that I really think is the one. I literally was/is a bit mad at myself and couldn't imagine why on earth I would insist on making so many bad decisions and mistakes throughout this long process.. But that's life. Here is a picture of some of the cases from start to finish, the final design is made in dark oak. This is what I imagine the case too look like with different colors etc (with a rubber "list" on the edges) The case is 21x23x10 cm is or roughly 8x9x4 inches and has uses no custom manufactured computer parts, only custom cables (that I was able to get produced - thankfully!) - Which means that by using what resources I had and putting it all together myself - I managed to build a case for less than $500 that has an i3 8th gen, 16gb RAM, GTX 1050, 400 W power supply and with an M2 250 GB 3000 mb/s disk. You are probably wondering how I could waste 2 years on just spitting out different models and designs.. Well I would say at least a year has gone into the cooling part of the case. I have always been interested in peltier cooling, graphene and cool stuff (I think everybody is interested in cool stuff however..At least I hope so) and since I have access to manufacturing graphene I decided to make a "heatsink" in aluminium coated with graphene and use a custom built peltier cooling plate. It turns out that in full load with a GTX 1080 and an i7 8th gen processor the processor and gpu reaches about the same temp as room temperature or even less in some cases. I was at my neighbors showing off one of the cases and he thought I had brought a "wine bag in box" thingy - So i figured well, it looks like one so let's make it one... My wood case is built with a gtx 1050 and an i3 it is even cooler (roughly 10 degrees Celsius/48 Fahrenheit) - that is kind of a good temperature for drinks! I had a little spare space left in the case so I decided to make it into a bag in box with the components inside! And it turned out to work very well! A screen also fits onto the case, along with a small bluetooth keyboard - I will probably make a bag for it so I can put the small keyboard in a pocket or something. The case also has a battery which lasts up to 8 hours (I just took 2 laptops batteries - basically 8 Tesla batteries, hooked them together and use the standard power cable to power the power supply with a control board in the battery to give exact amps and charging etc) Anyway, that was fun and all. But now I have put A LOT of energy and resources into this. So I am writing here today, to see what you think - Have I wasted 2 years of my life doing something that really is the worse you have ever seen or do you think it could lead to something cool and awesome? I visited my friends company some week ago and one of the employees took a look at the wood version of the case and he just said that it would catch on fire and that I was a hippie.. But you know - what's the word? Stay strong, I think.. However since the case never reaches high temperatures (and the wood version is actually a mix up of real wood and 3d-printed PLA WOOD) it can't really like catch on fire, maybe if I buy one of Elon Musk's boring company flamethrowers, then maybe, just maybe it will actually be a nice campfire. I have seen a couple of mini itx cases that Linus has done some reviews on here, but I don't know, they are usually very metal-like and boring. But maybe I am just a weird person and don't know anything at all, which probably could be true - Or I am just insane, which I usually say if people don't know what to think of me. Probably going to summarize all of this here, I have a small case with the specs I wanted, I think it actually has worked out pretty OK actually. Hey LTT forums! I'm recording the entire stream on Luke's channel of him using LMG's 3D printer to print various things, one of which was a small firepole. I created a timelapse using the footage I recorded and added in some music to make it more interesting. Hope you guys enjoy it. I am still recording and plan to upload future timelapses of other things being printed, but as of now the files are corrupt and I'm working on trying to retrieve what I can. Note: I'm not sure if this is against the CoC for advertising, as I am linking to a video I made but at the same time it is a fan-created video related to LTT. If a mod sees this and believes it is against the CoC, I apologize for the trouble and will avoid similar posts in the future.

I have a 3d printer and often have questions, so I go to forms but LTT form is my favorite form because its so active. I would like to know why isn't there a 3d printing page or if they could add one in the future. As Linus said it will be the future. so why not add a subform page? There is a subform page for every other respect tech.

I have been a part of the Indian 3d Printing community for a year or so, and I have come accoss many things that are made using a 3d Printer. For those who do not know what is 3d printing, "a process for making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material." source Wikipedia. I happened to come accross the work of a 2 designers based in Paris - Linlin and Pierre Yves, They are just amazing to see. I get the feeling that the technology is going to grow as it can help people make such amazing art. Have a look your self. They have use their many many years of experience from the InkJet segment they have mastered throughout the years. Their system is based on liquids and a hardening agent fused with energy (heat? Hey guys, So this is probably slightly out of the norm of posts on LTT but I thought I'd post anyway (you guys are so friendly and helpful). So I'm looking at getting a RepRap Prusa i3 kit, was just curious if anyone has had experience assembling this specific printer and using it in general and could please share some experiences. I was just wondering how many people on this forum have used a 3D printer before? I have been using one at my school for a while now and I'm hoping to buy my own soon. If any one has any experience with 3D printers could you please give me any suggestions on and 500-1000 dollar 3D printer.

Summary 3D Printing is no doubt an amazing technology, but the business of switching filiments for different colors results in additional complexity and cost and limits design posibilities. Company Mimaki has changed the game with the worlds first full-color 3D UV-curable inkjet printer. Additionally their solution to support scaffolding is revolutionary as well - with a soft encasement medium being used to support the object during printing. This medium is then able to be dissolved away in water after printing is complete. While their first machine is a large commercial unit, the technology is well ahead of other 3D printing tech. Quotes My thoughts This really puts prototyping using 3D printing on the next level with the print being able to model design considerations for the finished product. The support material seems like it will enable complex print geometries without the need for the current complex support structures that must be then pruned/clipped off and then the resulting nubs smoothed with acetone. I get the sense that this will be a viable means of making consumer ready products using 3D printing instead of only being used for the prototyping stage.
