Budget (including currency): $1800 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: UE5, Blender, Adobe Suite, Fusion360… Other details: This computer will be used for 3d modelling and renders in UE5 as well as Blender and Fusion 360. Aside from that, maybe some games like Minecraft, Modern Warfare, Valorant, Fortnite… Doesn’t need to look pretty, I just want something that is gonna be future proof and last a few years without having to upgrade due to hardware limitations. Hopefully someone can recommend something. Thanks

Hi so I work with extremely large assemblies in Creo 7 and these assemblies contain 300 000 parts and more . I am having trouble figuring out what to do to improve my preformance when I have such assemblies open My CPU never goes above 10% usage (ryzen 9 3900x) My GPU hardly goes above 10% as well (Quadro RTX 4000) I am also working from an nvme I also have 64GB 3200mhz Ram Just general zooming in and out and rotating is nearly impossible and regenerating and saving takes extremely long and non of my hardware seems to work hard at all. I am having trouble getting info from Creo themselves and they just keep giving me minimum requirements. attached is a pdf of such an assembly 000-layout.pdf

So far i've selected everything except a GPU and a Motherboard, the GPU is going to be bought later this year so i dont think about that one rn. For my CPU i am going to buy a Core i5 10400 (i first wanted a r5 3600, but i need an igpu until i get a GPU). My budget for the Board is limited at around 100€, but i would like a cheaper one, if it is an okay choice. I probably only need 2 RAM slots and 1 Slot for a GPU (probably a rx580, onces its affordable). For the back IO i would want to have at least 4 Type A USB 3.0 (or higher)+the stuff you need for sound and at least one HDMI and one VGA connector. The front IO however should have the connections to 2 USB Type A 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 (i am going to buy the zalman s2). Bluetooth and WIFI are not required, but would still be a "nice to have". I also dont need overclocking capeable power delivery (my CPU is locked and i probably wouldnt do that anyways). Same with m.2 Slots, i maybe upgrade later to a m.2 SSD, but so far only SATA Drives are planned. I need at least 3-4 SATA ports. And my RAM is 16gb ddr4 3200 cl16. Thanks for answering

Before i start with a question this i will give you some reference, i work in a office where we primarily use Inventor and AutoCad for all sorts of need for the plant and we all have a 3D mouse just a basic one like this one. This has caught my attention and i talked to all of my coworkers about the usage of this mouse, currently i am the ONLY one in the office that use it, finds it useful and that it actually speeds up my 3D work. If you are working in this 3D environment do you use it or consider it as a hindrance or maybe an expensive paper weight?

Hi people! Like in the tittle, where to start with 3D modeling? I've played a little with blender but it didn't click with me. I want to create, sculpt or remix assets freely preferable to the point of being able to later print or use those in animations or games. Sculpting and modeling from scratch is my main goal with low poly and texturing as a side. 4-16 hours per week is my starting point for now but it all depends on many factors. I'm used to photoshop layout and key shortcuts. Here are some examples of what I would really love to be able to create within a year of learning from scratch:

Looking to buy a prebuilt computer. I'd like to run two monitors from it. Run games like Outer Worlds and WoW. I also need it to be able to run solidworks, inventor, fusion 3d, etc.. a 512gb ssd and a 1tb secondary drive would be ideal. I've looked at few places such as IBuyPower, Cyberpower pc, new egg, etc.. Part of the problem I'm having is I don't know which pC parts I necessarily want- I just know what i'd like out of them. Maybe $1500 is unrealistic, but it's what i've got for this. Is this an appropriate place to ask for help in choosing a FULL Prebuilt gaming desktop?

Hey everyone Tech Newbie here, So a couple of weeks back I bought a premium laptop from Dell called the Dell Inspiron 15 7501 and I bought it for my uni's mechanical engineering program. Having in mind the 3d modeling software I'll be dealing with throughout the course, the specifications and build quality seemed to be in line with what I needed. The specifications of the laptop are as follows:- 1) 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-10750H (12MB Cache, up to 5.0 GHz, 6 cores) 2) NVIDIA® GeForce GTX® 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6 3) 16GB (8GB onboard + 8GBx1 SODIMM), DDR4, 2933MHz 4) 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive Coming to the quality of the laptop, the laptop boasts a full aluminum build along with really good thermal management with multiple vents allowing better airflow. Having briefly described the laptop, there was a certain doubt which arose on the laptop's GPU on whether it was enough to run 3d modeling software like CAD, Solidworks which as most of you already know are used widely in the mechanical engineering program. So I searched it up on many places to see on whether this particular GPU was powerful enough to run this software and I couldn't find satisfying answers (mixed review) as in some people suggest the RTX lineup cause of its ray-tracing feature, while others suggest the Quadro lineup and finally a few who agree with it stating that it worked for them even with an old I5 and an Nvidia 940mx laptops. I'm anxious about it and if it doesn't fully support this 3d modeling software I seriously don't see the need of having this GPU. I'm seriously not willing to game over it cause I want the laptop to be future proof. And yeh just to be clear I won't be using this software like every day but time to time practicals and I don't think it's gonna be high-end modeling so yeh please help this poor soul here. And if you wonder why I didn't go with the RTX GPUs with then the answer is simple you can see that the specs are almost the same as the Dell XPS 15 (India) with the XPS being one of the best lineups of dell for all-round purpose and thus this laptop seemed to be perfect for what I need for college.

first build First Build critique my part list please?
Meowkyuun posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Budget (including currency): 2000$USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 3D modeling in Blender, Unity, Photoshop, Illustrator, Video editing, Music Writing & Editing, VRChat, & Minecraft Other details So this is my first ever official build. I have changed out parts on previous PCs and done a lot of weird tech work so this shouldn't be too far out of my range. My old acer laptop isn't keeping up with my workflow and it didn't support VR gaming so I've been looking to upgrade. It is very important to me that it can run VRchat and other VR games somewhat comfortably If it can't then I'll probably hold back from upgrading till I have the budget for it So with that in mind here's the PC part picker page https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mPPJyK (I'm hoping that's allowed to be posted here and works fine? If not I can type it out instead)- 12 replies

Budget (including currency): Rs. 250000 - 300000 Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, Blender, Lumion, Unreal, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): GeForce RTX 3000s Hi I'm planning to buy a new laptop. I'm really confused between AMD and Intel. I've never used AMD so far. But of lately been having second thoughts. I use my laptop for 3D modelling and rendering and Adobe stuffs. I'm currently using Dell Precision M6800 with i7 and Quadro K5100M. I was not satisfied with its performance on Lumion and few other programs compared to GTX980M which came around that time. Also I'm not satisfied with Quadro's performance for its price. Apart from Vray and Autodesk products most of the programs require gaming graphic cards. So I'm thinking of switching to GeForce RTX 3000 series. Which is better config for 3D modelling and rendering? AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX/6900HX + GeForce RTX 3070Ti or Intel Core i9 12900HK/H + GeForce RTX 3080Ti Since Ryzen doesn't support cards above 8GB of memory, couldn't use on both. Thanks in advance.

Budget (including currency): ~$2,200-2,500 USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Unreal Engine 5 (traditional 3D and VR), Rhino 7, 3DS Max, C4D, Photoshop, Illustrator, DaVinci Resolve, Gaea, Touch Designer. Other details This PC is largely to help improve my 3D modeling and rendering time. I also have personally had a hard time finding many good 3090 Ti examples to buy second hand, I have found some but the convenience of getting it new without having to deal with 3rd party is a plus. The one thing that would change my mind and make the 3090 Ti worth it for me is the extra VRAM at 24GB, compared to 12GB of the 4070 Ti. However, I don't really know what the upper limit of VRAM usage I should expect because I have been limited to 6GB for a while. Online it says that between 8-16 is great, but again, I don't know if have the 24GB would be nice to have for the future, or if it's just overkill. For the CPU I went for the K SKU, but I would be open to a non K SKU. I would like to experiment with overclocking, but the risk of some instability when I'm doing productivity work that I don't want to lose is a bit scary. I went with a WIFI mobo because at my Uni I'm not sure I'll have close access to ethernet and would like the ability to use wifi if ethernet isn't an option, and I specifically wanted WIFI 6E for the faster speeds that my Uni provides. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I already have one of these monitors and would be buying another one because I won't have my laptop screen as a second monitor. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JXCR263/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I don't know exactly how color accurate the display is, but it seems to be rather good in my opinion, certainly better than my laptops display and the colors look natural and true to what I print, but if anyone has suggestions for more budget friendly color accurate 4k displays please let me know. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm building my roommate a PC, and we've hit a price spike between paychecks, so I'm wondering if we can save a bit of money by getting 2 RX580s instead of a 5700xt. For context, his use case is Autocad and light 3D modeling, with a little bit of gaming on the side. This is the 580 I'm considering https://pcpartpicker.com/product/y2DzK8/sapphire-radeon-rx-580-8gb-pulse-video-card-11265-05 This is the 5700xt I'm considering https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6kdrxr/gigabyte-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8-gb-gaming-oc-video-card-gv-r57xtgaming-oc-8gd The core question is what the performance impact of 2 RX580s in Crossfire would be compared to a single RX5700xt? Also, if anyone has the time to explain the reasoning to me, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hi I intend to purchase a laptop in a month or so. My Budget is around 60-80 thousand Indian Rupees. I usually game AAA titles now and then but not fulltime. Im looking for a laptop that has good colour accuracy, and good graphic card and can handle tasks like blender, Photoshop , illustrator maybe a little video editing , maya , auto cad alongside multi tasking.Id prefer a laptop that has good battery life and looking to use it for a long run. Id appreciate your suggestions. I was personally looking for a budget lap earlier but i have been told I'd atleast be needing a an i7 - 8 gen or an i9 - 8 gen.Seems a little too steep. I'm open to the AMD side for the CPU bit if it happens to be more budget friendly and is able to deliver in an around those expectations. But if you guys happen to have experience doing the same. Doo let me know what you'd suggest. Im on a tight budget honestly if i could spend lesser id rather doo that. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I am planning a new build and I am looking to get some feedback/help/guidance to know if I am in the right direction. I've decided to try with AMD Ryzen 1700 because it fits my budget, and the reviews I've seen so far are pretty great. I am also trying to stay under $2,000 total for the hardware as I still need to buy a desk, chair and other accessories. I will primarily be using this rig for Cinema 4D and Octane Render (GPU render) and plan to add more GPUs in the future. I think this MoBo takes up to 3 GPUs, right? Other software I will definitely be using is After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere. I am a motion graphics artist so you get the idea. I appreciate any help/guidance if you consider I should get something else for price/performance benefits please let me know.

Hello, I need help with chosing my mouse. I have about 100 usd to spand on it, my gigabyte M6980X is dying and I'm student in ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Google Sketch Up, Blender, 3Ds, and Revit. So I need some pretty accurate sensor. I do not mind wireless nor wired mouse. I was thinking about Logitech MX Master, but it is about 2 years old, so is there something newer? With same or similar shape? (The logitech MX Master was "Love for the first hold") I have just two 1080p screens so I do not need high DPI. So is there any as perfect choice as Logitech MX Master but from this year? If not I will go with Logitech MX Master if you don't talk me out of it. Few more things It must be or It must have: Low latency (I play games too :-D, and it is also good for quicker work) accuarcy (I wanna as precise mouse as posible) BIG - I have about 19-20 cm hands from my wrist to the top of my finger Shape - I worked few times for 15 hours with breaks so, something that I can hold on perfectly (like Logitech MX Master, the Gigabyte M6980X is small for me) thx for advice

Hello all, I'm trying to 3D Model and then 3D print molds for some custom model rocket nozzles. I've used 3D modeling software in the past for many projects such as Cinema 4D and 3DSMaxx, however this is my first experience using AutoCAD. I made a 2d drawing and then revolved it 360 degrees, however this apparently is not considered an exportable solid to an stl file. I understand why what I am trying is not working as technically I only have a surface not necessarily a solid, however I do not understand how to convert this into one. Essentially it's just a cone similar object (keyword similar) that I designed a 2D path for and want to revolve 360 degrees to make a solid. I attached a couple pictures from CAD and linked the .dwg file. The top of the picture is my attempt at making the path into a 3d solid and the bottom of it is the 2 paths that I want to make into 3d solids. Thanks for the help, I know this is a very basic issue. 1.0in Nozzle.dwg

Hello fellow (non) gamers. I need to buy a Laptop to use in my Mechanical Engineering degree (3D modeling and rendering) and to game on it on my spare time. I'm leaning to this models: Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKB-170 for 799.90€ (941.08$) and it includes the offer of a copy of Rocket League. Asus ROG GL552VW-76C96CS1 for 719.00€ (845.90$) and it includes the offer of a backpack. Which one do you think it's the best choice? Thanks in advance! Hi I am a 14 year old Blender user and have been using it for 4 years and now want to learn the Unreal Engine as well but my current rig is not even close to what I would call an acceptable content creation machine even for beginners (Intel Integrated Graphics Toshiba laptop). I have a 850$ build I want to make excluding the monitor but so far I only have 100$. How would you guys recommend I could get money via content creation to buy a PC.

Hello LTT world, Ive seen many a review and suggestion for "workstation" builds but from what I understand they all* focus on programs optimized for parallel processing. As a mechanical designer by trade I am frequently stuck with an already built "top of the line" pc with 8 cores, 16gb of ram, am Nvidia Quadro 4000 and a frozen program with one core redlining while the 7 others idle. I've used Nvidia's gpu utilization program and that thing barely hits 70%. So my understanding is this, CPU clock speed trumps cores and unless you're using 8 year old quadros, you have enough VRAM. Does anyone have any input or suggestions regarding this? Best regards, The goaty one

New/Modified Web App Pen-testing & 3D Modeling Build
Reese posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello, I am building 2 new/modified rigs to help sustain my needs until I build a new overkill rig in about 6 months. I do mainly Web app Pen-testing for bugs, AOSP dev pen-testing for bugs, and 3D modeling for designs for my 3D Printer, and also some music production in FL Studio. I already have about 12 GB of DDR3 ram, 1 1tb 7200rpm hdd, 2 AMD 3/3+ socket motherboards, my graphics cards suck so ill be replacing those, and I do have 1 AMD FX 6 core cpu for one of the motherboards. I would like both of the builds to be pretty similar in specs/power. Not sure if should go xeon for one of the builds or both, if not I would need 1 more amd cpu or just replace those with intel ones. Not sure. As far as gfx go, i'm not too sure what is in this price range as used go on ebay since I will be doing some 3d modeling, both computers powering at least 2 1080p monitors at once. I'm not looking for anything too overkill, as I am on a pretty low budget of $200 max, so I will be buying used parts. Just trying to get an idea of what I should look for when I go shopping. Thank you for the help-

Hi! What laptop should I choose between the Dell Mobile Precision 7740 and the Alienware Area 51m? I will be using this laptop in my daily work. I will be mainly working with Sketchup Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk Autocad civil 3d and Lumion 3D. I am also looking into Twinmotion and Unreal engine. I will be handling pretty large and complex models, sometimes at city scale, with a lot of geometry. Ps. I know a desktop might be better, but I need to have a mobile solution. The main specs are as follows : Alienware Area 51m CPU : 9th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0Ghz w/Turbo Boost) GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8GB GDDR6 (OC Ready) RAM : 64GB, 4x16GB, DDR4 2400MHz Dell Mobile Precision 7740 : CPU : Intel Xeon E-2286M, 8 Core Xeon, 16M Cache, 2.40GHz up to 5.00GHz Turbo, 45W, vPro GPU : Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 w/16GB GDDR6 RAM : 64.0GB, 4x16GB, DDR4-2666MHz SDRAM, 4 DIMMS, Non-ECC

Hello. I've been in the market for a new CPU recently, as I have been getting into 3d modeling and I believe that my current i3-6100 will eventually need to be replaced anyway for better performance. Specifically, I've been trying to get a decent mid-range CPU for around 100-200 USD. I boiled my options down to these CPUs: Ryzen 5 2600, Ryzen 5 2600X, i5 9400F. I have no idea which one I should buy, as they all cost around the same. Keep in mind I am using this PC for gaming as well. So, which one do you think I should choose? I am open to other suggestions for what I should get, preferably CPUs that are affordable.

Hello, I' dlike to get into some more serious 3d modelling with blender and game design with Unity and Unreal Engine. So I want an upgrade since my current pc CPU I7 7700K GPU GTX 960 6GB VRAM RAM 8GB 2400MHz Hyper X isn't able to keep up with blender models over 600k polygons or big game scenes in Unity. My total budget is ~2000USD, but I dont want to spend it all. I've done some research and found the following: Modelling in blender is single core work. So higher clocks are better. Rendering, sculpting, rigging, vector painting and lighting are multi core tasks in blender. In Unity pretty much everything is multi core: lighting and light baking, code compiling and assets ect. Terrain building is single core in Unity. At least 16GB RAM is highly recommended in both programs. Blender stores modells in the GPU's VRAM. Unity only uses the GPU for viewport FPS So I came up with this build for the budget of 1400USD on PC partpicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SzabGer/saved/z7B9GX CPU RYZEN 7 3800X GPU 2060 SUPER RAM 16GB 3200MHz B450 chipset, msi motherboard I'm keeping my current storage (samsung 250GB sata SSD, 2TB HDD). I went way bellow budget to get some decent monitors. I want at least 2 or a super ultra wide (32:9). They need to be somewhat color accurate since making games is highly visual work. I'm not looking for 150%sRGB since I have a pretty baller OLED tv that can do that. Every part is subject to change except for the case. It's just too nice to not use it I can't wait for some comments and thanks in advance.

I'm looking to build my first PC that will be used for gaming and CAD (SolidWorks) but also as a workstation. My budget is around 1,000 USD (Live in US). I have a mouse & keyboard already (I'll deal with OS later - not counting it in my budget) and I'm not quite sure which monitor to buy, but I was looking at this one. I'm honestly not quite sure what framerate, resolution, and such I'll be gaming at but 1080p steady 60fps sounds reasonable. I'll be using just one monitor. As for games that I'll be playing, I'm not planning on playing the most-graphically intensive games at max graphics settings - the most intensive game I'm planning on at the moment is Xenoblade Chronicles on the Dolphin emulator using HD texture and 60FPS mods but I play other games and may expand into more common AAA titles. I've done a bit of research and digging around on the forums and came up with this for my parts list so far: (link in case my formatting goes horribly wrong) PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($165.98 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: ARCTIC - Freezer 33 eSports ONE (Black/White) CPU Cooler Motherboard: ASRock - Fatal1ty X470 Gaming K4 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($139.99 @ Newegg Business) Memory: G.Skill - Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($94.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital - Blue 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($134.87 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB OC Video Card ($359.99 @ Newegg) Case: Fractal Design - Focus G (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($61.15 @ Newegg) Power Supply: SeaSonic - FOCUS Gold 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.80 @ OutletPC) Total: $1046.77 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-01-29 00:54 EST-0500 I'm far from an expert with these things but my biggest questions are: -Is the power supply overkill or is it a better safe than sorry type of thing? -I'm not familiar with the motherboard brand - is it ok? (I found a sample build somewhere on the forum with that board and edited it a bit to suit my needs/wants) -Strictly speaking probably not the right place to ask but while I'm here - will the monitor I chose work for this setup? Thanks!
