Hello everyone, i was wondering how did i end up killing my cpu by installing a new ssd? At first my pc is working perfectly fine. I bought a new ssd and try installing a new windows os on it, but my pc won't boot with the ssd installed. When i tried to boot my pc without the ssd, my pc turns on but it is stuck in a boot loop with no signal displaying on my monitor. Even the keyboard and mouse won't lit up but the rgb fans does. What i've tried so far: breadboarding the system with the cpu and ram only. swapping ram's slot, trying only one at a time. swapping a different psu. booting with and without the gpu. cleaning the rams with an eraser, and the slots as well. reseating the cpu ( as a last resort, even though i've no idea how is this connected to my issues ). What makes me think it's the cpu: tried booting without any ram installed, there's a beep from the motherboard speaker. tried the cpu to my friend's pc ( he got i5 3470 ). My i7 3770 doesn't work. Pc boots up but with no display. I really am confused how the hell did i bricked it. I'm so depressed right now as this happened to me last year as well, with a different i7 3770. Pc specs: cpu - i7 3770 motherboard - foxconn h61mxe-k ram - 16gb (2x8gb) ddr3 1600mhz (kingston) hdd - 1tb western digital green gpu - rx 570 overclocked ( 1400mhz at 1110mv ) psu - superflower 600w case - deepcool maccube 110 monitor - acer r231

Hello all, Recently I have thought about the components which I would like (hope not so soon as the current PC would keep it still rolling), but would like to buy at least in late 2020. My current desktop PC is 7 years old and serves me really good, at while in a good condition too. Mostly, I use it for Web, multimedia, programming (Android, Websites, etc.), few Hyper-V virtual machines have on it an run when needed, hackintosh also (watched your channel how to make your own one), use for graphics editing and from time to time video editing when needed. Some times I play few games like Watch Dogs 2, Counter Strike series and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Regarding the budget, I can go at least up to 900$ for a new one, but I truly believe it can cost much lower, just do not know what to pick from the manufacturers, regarding performance, stability, duration, etc. Currently I am using: - MSI Z77A-G45 - Intel i7-3770 (stock clock, never overclocked, only stock speeds/clocks) - 4x 8GB Corsair value ram (total of 32GB) DDR3 1600Mhz (dual-channel, nver overclocked, only stock speed/clocks) - MSI Nvidia GTX 1080 Gaming X 8GB (never clocked, only stock speed/clock, never used for mining) - 1x Crucial MX series 250GB SSD (daily usage, up to 14 hours, not even 50% load) - 2x 1TB Toshiba 7200rpm (backup, archive, 5% usage over a year period) - 1x 1TB Western Digital 5400rpm (backup, archive, 5% usage over a year period) - 1x 2TB Western Digital 5400rpm (daily usage, up to 8 hours, not even 50% load) - PSU is Antec 650W - LG optical drive DVD/RW - computer case is Spire Savit 6003 Gaming with 5 fans in it (120mm Arctic) - CPU cooler is Arctic Freezer 13 Peripherals: - monitor is AOC 32'' inch (2560x1440) - keyboard Roccat Isku+ Gaming - mouse Roccat Kone EMP- RGB Ilumination Gaming - headset Kingston HyperX Cloud Alpha I would like to go for AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB RAM, NvME SSD with my HDD's, and of course new computer case (if needed - explained the situation below). What motherboard manufacturer for the socket (AM4) do you preffer? I need some with more SATA connections so I can connect all my HDD's on it. Or, what do you prefer? Is there any software how can I transfer files from my 2x 1TB Toshibas to 1x 2TB HDD? So I would not need so much bigger or maybe not even newer computer case? Mostly, the 1x 2TB WD is in daily usage (read/write), while the 1x TB WD and 2x 1TB Toshibas (3 HDD's) are only being connected to the power. Generally, not using them everyday, there is no read/write to them, so basically I could put them to work as an external drives in external bays or how? How about TDP and cooling the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (would also run on the stock clock). Do I have to spend money on the new CPU cooler? (like Noctua) to have a good airflow and keeping it cool, so suppose I would need some bigger and newer computer case? - or maybe not even that. Computer case problem Currently, the case Spire Savit 6003 Gaming has few "drawbacks", because one PCI slot - the where I screw the GPU with screwdriver cannot be strained as needed and GPU is not in place - it "jiggles" and moves in the slot, and could brake it. That's why I have had my GPU moved to lower PCI slot, but then I have the problem with the GPU width and the placing of the HDDs in my case. And that's why I would like to go for a new computer case. - I am sending you the picture how it looks now in the attachment of this message Need your suggestions Could you please write me back with what components - including AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and 32GB of RAM, should I buy to have little or no bottleneck? - which NvME disk, which RAM speed and manufacturer, which computer case to put so much HDDs in it with a good airflow Kindly thank you for your help and provided information. Stay safe and healthy! Yours Sincerely, Tomislav Croatia

Hi everybody, I want some opinions regarding an upgrade path from i7 3770 to ryzen 1600 or 1700. Is it worth it ? Thank you.

Heyo, I'm currently looking at two used groups of parts: i7 3770 + HyperX 16gb + Asrock z75 Pro 3 ($300) i7 2600k + G.Skill 16gb + AsRock P67 Pro ($350) The ram differences are negligible, yet I haven't owned either of the two processors or motherboards. I'm unsure whether or not it would be worth it to go with the 2600k as it could be overclocked reasonably far... Then again, I'm currently on a Hyper 212 Evo, so not quite sure how far I could go anyway. And while the 3770 is technically newer, the P67 board looks slightly higher quality. Would love to hear your thoughts!

I am running a 2500k in a Gigabyte z68 Mobo. ( ga-z68p-ds3 ) i recieved a 3770 from a friend and would like to try run that as i need hyperthreading for video rendering. The CPU works, ive gone back and tested on his machine and all is fine. On my mobo it wont post. everything else is fine. do i need a bios update or something. I haven't updated the bios since i got the pc in like 2011. Like does this mobo not support Ivy ? Any help or tips will be much appreciated,

I recently bought an Oculus Quest and my buddy was bugging me to try the PC Link Beta for it, but I didn't have a gaming rig. What I had was an i7 3770, 16 GIg DDR 3 and 2 10000 RPM spinners in a rig I had used for training on hypervisors back in 2012. I tossed in a 1660ti and a couple SSD's and I"m amazed that I can play just about all the games I've tried on Epic with frame rates over 100 (1080p) The exception is Asgard's Wrath... it's a freaking bohemith 120 Gig game that is certain the best looking VR game I've seen to date and I have about 30 of them.

Hey guys! So i just built a friend a 1155 system (yes i know it's old but don't worry it's only for online classes) And i have this problem with ram, i have two generic 16gb 1600 ddr3 sticks and for some reason the motherboard does not boot with these specific sticks. The thing is i tried both sticks at a different motherboard and system and they get detected perfectly I also tried different ram sticks (the one from the system I mentioned earler) and it posted fine. The DRAM light was on when the sticks are on the motherboard. Yes I tried each stick in each ram slot and even dual channel but still get the red LED. Do you guys have any solutions or ideas?

So I've an unusual build: CPU: i7-3770 (Non-K) Mobo: Some premade Dell mobo RAM: 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 6GB Storage: 1 TB Mechanical HDD I know my GPU is good but I'm having problems with the fact that this thing is a pre-built so the CPU usage is climbing and I'm having noticeable slowdown on a HDD that's relatively new. I want to upgrade because I'm looking to game at 1080p @ 144Hz and also to get rid of the problems coming from the PC Would it be worth it to just buy a new case, mobo, and cooling and hope and pray I can OC (If I can even keep the 3770 from the current build)? Should I just upgrade since I'm gonna have to eat that much in cost anyways?

Hi all, long time Linus subscriber, first time posting (and sadly not bragging) This is the second PC Tower I have built. After building my first AMD 64x Dual Core tower in 2007 and learning about computers similar to how Linus grew up with PC's I tried to future proof this system a few years ago. This tower still holds up great with everything, starting to think about a complete upgrade when the time is right. I saw on Facebook today that Linus was dusting off an old PC so I decided to give mine a dusting too. I take my PC to my mates about twice a week so cable management is non-existing. ----Tower---- Full Size Tower - In Win GR one Motherboard - Intel DH67CL Media Series CPU - Intel i7 3770 RAM - 16GB Corsair 1333mhz (4x4GB) GPU 16x - ASUS Nvidia 1050ti GPU 1x - ASUS Radeon R9 270X PCI Slot3 1x - PCI 2xSATA Port Adaptor OS Drive - Kingston HyperX Fury SSD 240GB Storage Drives - Internal - 750GB HDD Hot Swap - 1TB HDD+250GB HDD External - 2TB HDD USB3.0 PSU - Aerocool VX-750 Optical Drive - DVD+-RW # of Fans - 12 In total ----Accessories---- Monitors - Benq 27" RL2755 1080p - Benq 20" 720p - Dell 20" 720p Keyboard - Corsair K55 Mouse - Gamertech XM-5250 Mouse Pad - Logitech G240 Webcam - Logitech C922 Speakers - Logitech X-230 2.1ch Headset - Logitech G430 Other - Bluetooth dongle WiFi dongle SD Card Reader

Hey, I got a question. My pc is in need of a small cpu upgrade because in most modern games (like BF1 64 player map) its at 100% and laggy while the gpu is at 60%. But at the moment i'm on a tight budget. It has an (unoverclockable) Dell MB socket 1155 ; i5 2400 (watercooled corsair H60); 300w psu; 500Gb ssd + 1Tb hdd; 16GB ddr3 ram and a nvidia 1050ti 4Gb. But.... i found an i7 3770 (not K) for 100 bucks so my question is, is it worth it in this day and age to still buy an i7 3770 or should i just wait and throw out the whole crap and start new (but i'd have to wait 3 years or so) any other tips/suggestions are welcome I don't mind playing on the not highest setting if it can't keep up but i do appreciate nice graphics (so i like to stay at 1080p with decent graphics) i might have to mention, the watercooling seems overkill but it isn't really, with stock air i got an average temp of 85°C fan maxed... and i got a great deal on h60 so now it averages 30°C with the fan on minimum and barely any noise. Also to my understanding the 3770 is the best cpu for this Mobo.

I, like everyone else in the world, want to get into streaming. I don't want to do it professionally but it has always seemed like a fun thing to passively do. As of right now I have an 8700k in my main system (OC'ed to 5GHz) and I've streamed off of just that with a slight hit to performance. I have a side-system that is an old dell optiplex I use to host the odd minecraft server when my friends and I feel like playing which has an i7-3770 (4 cores, 8 threads.) Would would it be worth converting that PC into a stream PC? Is an aging quad-core enough for 1080p streaming? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I have a problem with my pc. It was a prebuilt bought in 2012 and I've done some basic upgrades to make it run decently. Recently the pc started beeping on startups and most of the time, a restart would rectify the problem or so I thought. So finally the pc decided to give way and I have been getting endless reboots each with 6beeps. From what I have been reading up it seems to be an A20 keyboard controller problem, at first I was assuming my Rams were failing so I kept trying to reseat them then trying placing only one of the 4 at a time to see if I have a faulty ram. It didn't work and well now, I have a feeling I've gotta replace the mobo. It's an acer IPIMB-AR rev1.02A mobo with a i7 3770 processor. So should I just get the mobo replaced or can there be something else causing this problem? I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

I logged the temperatures of my i7-3770 for 4 days with the stock cooler(I'm mostly playing new games, and the computer is left on while I sleep, folding on my GPU), and when I analyzed it I got this(all cores combined): Average: 69.87 Minimum: 36 Maximum: 90 Is this normal?

I recently bought a p8z77-V LE off ebay, one of the pins in the sicket was bent but I bent i back to look like the others. I have installed everything into my case (i have a 3770 non k). I click the power button and nothing happens at all. the case is new and the switch worked with my old mobo. What could the problems be? Full specs: CPU: i7 3770 mobo: P8Z77-V LE RAM: 16GB Hyper X Fury Cooler: H100i GTX OS: windows 10 64bit GPU: HD7990

to start off, these are my specs: - i7 3770 - intel dp67de mobo - 8gb kingston 1333mhz - 500 gb WD - Msi gtx 670 w/ accelero - cooler master extreme 500w psu - stock cooler on cpu Idle: It idles between 25-27c Load: On the Furmark burn in test, (1680x1050,4xmsaa) for about 30 mins on stock clocks I am getting about 50-55c In conclusion, I am just wondering if these are good temps for this cooler, and I am wondering if the 1137mhz clock that it boots to with no overclocks is decent. thanks guys.

So I bought a 980 ti Hydro copper and when running that my pc won't boot, when running onboard GPU I can see the card in device manager. But when in the device manager I get Error 43. I've tried about everything, installed drivers, different PCIE slots, changed boot to UEFI (from Legacy+UEFI), Tried the card in a second PC (A 2011 socket MB), different PSU (Silverpower 750 PSU), clean windows 8.1 install. I first thought it was the card, but this is the second card i get (the first I RMA), but the problem continues. Ofc it could be just two busted cards, but then I would be really unlucky. My system: i7 3770 CPU MSI Z77A-G45 MB 16 GB Kingston HyperX RAM Two SSD's Two HDD's RM 750 PSU

For mainly gaming and video editing, is the upgrade from a 3770 to a 4790k worth the money?

Hey guys, I have taken up war thunder lately, and it works decently on my rig for the most part, but when shit goes down (explosions, and smoke), my fps tanks to the 30's, and tht coupled with my monitor leads to some gnarly screen tearing. I brushed it off as I could deal with it, but lately it seems to have gotten worse/ more frequent so I decided to try and find out what was the cause. Since I usually have msi afterburner's overlay running, I can diagnose problems like this, but in this case the gpu usage drops in these sections of intensity, which leaves the cpu to blame. Sure enough, when I checked task manager, (with the graph set to logical cores) one core is being maxed out, while the rest hover around 15%. Due to this changing the settings/ resolution does not really help, as my 780ti can handle the game at 1440p no problem unless I crank up the aa. I have even reinstalled the game, and everything was the same, even down to the core that was being maxed. Same thing happens on my laptop as well, so it is leaving me baffled, as to what I can do to actually play the damn game at a constant fps (its sort of annoying having the fps drop, in the times you need it the most)

Hi there, Before I go on, here's my current build: -XFX FX-777A-ZNF4 Radeon HD 7000 Series; AMD; Radeon HD 7770; 1000 MHz; CrossFire; 2048 x 1536 pixels; 2560 x 1600 pixels (FX-777A-ZNF4) -Intel Core i3-3220 3300GHz 3MB Cache Socket LGA1155 Desktop CPU -Corsair CMX8GX3M1A1333C9 XMS3 8GB (1x4GB) DDR3 1333 Mhz CL9 Performance Desktop Memory Module -MSI LGA1155 u-ATX Motherboard (Intel H61, 2x DDR3, GBE, LAN) -EVGA 500B 500W 80+ BRONZE PC Power Supply -LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x SATA Half Height Internal DVDRW Drive -Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB 6GB/S Internal SATA Drive -Fractal Design Core 1000 Series Micro ATX Case I am thinking about upgrading my current GPU to a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming at Christmas, but before that, I want to upgrade my CPU so that there are no bottlenecks. I was thinking about buying the i7 3770 (non 'K' version, because my MOBO doesn't allow OC), which is an Intel 3rd generation (Ivy Bridge) CPU. However, yesterday I saw that the Intel 4th generation i7 4790k was the same price as the i7 3770 (non 'K') on Amazon. People have said that the i7 4790k is far superior to the i7 3770, even at stock speeds. With OC, it would be even better. The problem is that if I wanted a better CPU for the same price, I would be forced to buy a new MOBO too, because of the generation socket incompatibilities and also because my current MOBO couldn't take advantage of a 'K' processor anyway. This is why I am thinking of buying a new motherboard along with the i7 4790k. However, another problem remains. I heard that when you change a MOBO, you have to reinstall Windows, and all your data gets deleted too. I'm not too sure about the latter, however the windows reinstall seems believable. I do NOT want to reinstall windows at all. If there is no way around it, I will, without question, stay with my current MOBO and go with the 3770, no questions asked. There is absolutely no way that I am going to pay for another copy of windows (I don't have a disk, I downloaded windows 8.1 from Microsoft's website). My question is, is there a way around having to reinstall windows when changing motherboards? Are there any guaranteed ways to do it? Because I do not want to risk anything. Thank you to anyone who replies. Cheers!

Hello everyone, I'm going to make a gaming rig with two r9 280x cards in crossfire but i'm not shure wich "base" system will be the best. I have to choose between System 1: Cpu: Intel core i7 2600k Mobo: Asus P8P67 deluxe rev3 Ram: 8gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz (2x4gb) Psu: coolermaster silent pro 850w Ssd: crucial m100 60gb Hdd: western digital raptor 300gb 10.000rpm Case: coolermaster centurion 5 Or System 2: CPU: Intel core i7 3770 Mobo: Asus P8H77-V LE Ram: 8gb hyperX fury (2x4gb) Psu: corsair rm1000 Ssd: none Hdd: 1000gb seagate baracuda 7200rpm Case: earocool xpredator x1 Both systems will be around 400 dollars but system 2 might become slightly cheaper. The 280x cards i'll be using are the ones from powercolor. I do want to overclock the graphicscards a little. I also am going to craft my own case if i have enough time for it (i'm in my Finals right now) and if i find the time to craft my own case i'll make a build log about it .

My question (as nooby as it may sound), is: How do I actually upgrade the CPU and GPU? Let's say I got my new CPU now. Do I simply turn off my PC, open up the side and swap the CPUs out? I know that for a GPU, I have to disable it first in the device manager and delete all the drivers for it, but I have no knowledge on how to do it for a CPU. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. Cheers!
