The form itself is fairly self explanatory, however I would happy to answer any questions that occur. If i missed something that you feel should be added to the form, (hopefully nothing blatantly obvious :ph34r: ) let me know! I can edit the form and DB at anytime. Also i will be checking the DB spreadsheet to validate entries. If an entry comes through that doesn't match up to the photo, or if the entry comes without a photo it will be flagged yellow. CPU-Z Open on the main tab (and a CPU-Z RAM tab for Haswell entries) 3. Some sort of temperature monitoring suite 4. A stress test software (aida, prime, intel tuning utility, etc.) Something that records the total time stressed(built in for aida or intel tuning utility), or a way to show me how long the processor was in fact stressed for.

Hey all, I am working on a rig but am running into some peculiar issues with GPU output. First off, this is is what the rig looks like: Z77 Extreme4 Pro I5-3570k 8gb 1600 mhz ddr3 MSI Armor 470 4gb 120gb ssd 1tb hdd Evga 400w psu I am able to boot and post using onboard video output with no issue, though cannot seem to get an output from the 470 4gb at all. Here is what i have tried: Made positive that the mobo prioritizes pci-e adapters for output I have tried all output options from the card as well as inputs on the monitor Swapped an old AMD R7 250 gpu in the 470s place, no problem with output through that card on the same pci-e slot Placed the 470 4gb in my main desktop with no problem with output from the 470 Cleared CMOS A few thoughts that I have had: may need to update the bios?, is 400w enough for the 3570k and a 470 4gb? I am all ears at this point as I am unsure how to proceed. Thanks

Hello friends, I recently snagged a i7 8700k / ASUS Prime Z370-A Motherboard combo on Ebay. It will be replacing my i5 3570k / ASrock motherboard. My first question is about ram. Will any ddr4 kit work? I'm thinking of going with 16gb, 3200mhz... does anyone have recommendations? And what can I expect from swapping out mobo/cpu? I will be keeping all the other components in my pc. Will windows need a reinstall? Any other insights on this upgrade would be appreciated.

Alright , so my temps are "pretty toasty" I guess we could say... It reaches up to 80°C while under 30% load and when encoding all the way up to 104°. What cooling would be sufficient to get better temps, I haven't re-applied thermal paste in like a year or two which is not "cool" I was thinking of Cryorig H7 or something like that but is there any better solution ?

This processor is showing some age to me right now. I wanna overclock it on my asrock z77 pro3. It's stock freq. is 3.4Ghz . I want to oc bcs i dont see point in upgrading be4 ryzen. Is there any good guide on internet for oc-ing. How far am i allowed to go with voltage, when to bump it up, how to test stability etc.

Hello, this is my current System: CPU : Intel Core i5-3570K, Overclocked to 4x 4.20GHz Mainboard: ASUS P8Z77-M, Intel Z77 GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX 670 Phantom 2048MB GDDR5 (256 bits) RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 (2x 4GB) Power Supply: 600W - BeQuiet! Straight Power E9 CPU-Cooler: BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 No SSD I want to invest in a GTX 1070 to run modern games and future titles like Star Citizen (if it will be released anytime) in good quality at 60fps and more. In addition to that i was thinking about getting a SSD and invest in 16GB of RAM with 1866Mhz. This all together would cost around 800€. At the moment I'm not sure if it wouldn't be better to invest into a new system to get things like DDR4 RAM, a newer CPU and an insulated case. Since my 3570K does not heat over 41°C at full load i could Overclock it up to 4.50GHz without any problems i guess. So what do you guys think? Could it be better to wait for a new GPU gengeration maybe? Thanks for you help!

I was looking to upgrade my computer from a 3570K (running at 4,5Ghz) to either a 7700K or 7600K. Would it be worth it? Would I gain anything performance wise? From the information I can find there doesn't seem much to gain besides possibly the extra cores in the i7.. anyone? Edit: I'm currently running a strix 1070oc.. mainly using the pc for gaming and some lighter video editing..

His guys I currently have a 3570k overclocked to 4.0 ghz. Using a cooler Master evo 212. My question is if I got a new i5 that was around the same ghz would there be any real deference to my fps. Mainly use my computer for games. With total Warham mer being a good example of a game i have that is heavy on my cpu. Are cpu''s measured mainly by there ghz or am Iis song something here. Other pc info that my help is that I have a gtx 970.

So I was thinking of upgrading my computer from 3570K to AMD's Ryzen 1600 only to discover that there's just no really good mATX boards available. Looking at boards available for Intel however shows a few really nice high end alternatives in the mATX format. So that leaves me wondering, is Intel's 7600K still a solid alternative or perhaps 7700K? I know that there's no upgrade path beyond them however. Or will there be some high end X370 boards coming out soon so that I can stick with the Ryzen?

I just got around to overclock my 3570K once I bought Cryorig H7, right now im sitting @1.25V on 4.3 Ghz. How far can I go with voltage and temperature On this overclock I do not get past 64°C under load and it idles at around 45°C as reported by HWMonitor I'm overclocking using offset mode because that is the only way to overclock on Asrock Z77 pro3

I can still play most recent games without problems at 60-75fps like COD, BF4, PUBG.. btw, my actual build is: CPU: i5-3570K @4.0Ghz Motherboard: ASUS Maximus V Formula RAM: (2x4gb) Corsair Vengeance 1866 GPU: XFX R7970HGHz BE PSU: Enermax Revolution87+ 650w Storage: 500gb SSD + 4TB local HDD I already found a friend who's interested in buying my used GPU eventually. Build Plan Guidelines: 1. Budget & Location Italy, as for the budget I'm open, I have a job and some savings so I can afford to buy a new system like this one, I don't want to waste money if I can just upgrade 1-2 pieces tho.. but if you want a number I can say.. prolly ~600-700€ (considering I think I don't need to buy a new PSU, Storage or Case, I don't think I'll reach 1k. you tell me) 2. So I am thinking about upgrading to Ryzen R5 1600 but am lost as to how much difference it would make. I currently have an i5 3570K OC'd to 4,6Ghz and paired up with the ASUS Strix 1070. My system is mainly used for gaming at 1080P and lighter video/image processing. Would the upgrade be worth it? What kind of a difference is there? I get that I'll get the advantage of Ryzen's extra cores and threads for video editing and such but how about single core, as most games don't utilize multi core yet, will it still be beneficial?

So I got a little brave with a razor blade. I decided to delid my 3570K. Stressful and exciting right. There's a tiny little nick at the top right that is worrying the shit out of me but it runs just fine. I used MX4 thermal paste for the replacement because the thought of making a mistake with something conductive in there stresses me out. Alas, I got temps within 1-2 C° with the exception of core 1 that was 10 C°. I thought I put to much thermal paste on there so I took it all apart and gave it another shot. Similar results. I think it's time to take the liquid metal plunge.... Now I'm worried if I don't get the application just right especially on the top of the die I might get some of that conductive stuff on the back of my pcb. I have some high temp electrical tape rated for 130 C°. If I take a few small pieces and trim them to protect the chip is that going to cause me any issues? Maybe heat? I know that i need to keep the tape tight in there so that it doesn't raise the IHS up. Is there any downside I'm missing here? So should I worry about this bit at the top right of the chip? Should I use some silicone to protect it when I put it all back together next when I get my liquid metal? Thanks

Hello, I am currently thinking about upgrading my 3570K (4.2GHz) to a 4790k. I do quite a lot of video editing and photoshop work and I know the extra threads will help with this. I have a few questions about the upgrade. 1) How do I fresh install Windows 7 after installing the new board? 2) Will I see a decent improvement in video rendering times and streaming abilties? 3) Is the Asus Z97-Pro Gamer motherboard a good choice? 4) What kind of overclock can I expect to get with a Hyper 212 EVO (I realise this is silicone lottery based) Thanks very much.

Hello everyone, So I had a very successful delid on a 3570k, I tried some conductonaut which is about double the thermal conductivity of coolaboratory liquid pro (or ultra?) and even at a massive 1.45 volts at 4.8ghz I don't get above 55c on hottest core. Right now my daily settings are 4.6ghz at 1.35v and CPUTIN sits at 33 c under load, hottest core under load is 48c, coolest being 45c. And yes I'm sure the readings are right, before delid I was hitting 70c just playing battlefield 1 at 3.8ghz. I know that everyone says not to exceed 1.375v on this cpu, but I've never read about a cpu being killed strictly from voltage, based on the lack of evidence I have to consider it a rumor. I would really like to push it to 5.1 ghz, just because something about breaking 5ghz feels awesome to me. But as you can see I'm hitting a large voltage wall, but thermals are insanely good. So I guess what I'm asking is does anyone have any real world examples or the knowledge to explain why going too high with voltage will kill a cpu even if thermals are managed? I'm certainly not an expert, I just like to overclock If you wanna see a couple results I posted immediately after delid, thermals got better after a couple of days (or hours):

My friend has an 3570k, and its done its job. But he doesnt have a motherboard that he can overclock it with. Im thinking if he gets a mobo that he can oc it with. He doesnt need to buy a whole new rig. Any suggestions for a cheap but decent motherboard that can oc this cpu ?

Hi, For the last couple of months, I've been noticing my CPU creating a bottleneck. I'm also to blame because I've been using the stock cooler and paste for all this time. Overclocking could help me, and my budget, until the right time for an upgrade arrives. My goal is reaching at least 4.4Ghz on an i5-3570K. I've got a motherboard and PSU capable of delivering this result, in theory, based on other experiences I've seen online. My case allows for up to 155mm or even 160mm height coolers, again, in theory(Can't find my PC case's specs online, as it's like a regular "office" micro ATX tower but I did measure it from the mobo to the side case). I've been looking at differrent coolers in the 20-30€ range. I'm gonna be listing some examples of the ones I like with the current best prices in my country: Arctic Freezer 33 27€ 6 year warranty Be Quiet! Pure Rock 31€ 3 year warranty DEEPCOOL Gammaxx 400 25€ 1 year warranty(It should be 2 by law, actually) I also took a look at some other coolers like the Mugen 5(44€), Arctic Freezer 33 eSports One(39€) and the 212x(29€) but I found that the listed above might have a better value for my case. I also have in mind getting the popular Arctic MX-4 thermal compound, as this is my first time getting a cooler; I'll keep advancing and trying out other options but I want to keep it simple and in budget for now. The thing is, I wonder how all of these would perform using the same thermal compound. For example, the Gammaxx 400 shows similar results to the Arctic Freezer 33, but the latter one is using a higher quality thermal compound by deafult(included) so how would a Gammaxx 400 perform with that same compound applied? Taking a look at some of the benchmarks by comparing the results thanks to the handy hardware.info comparison table, I compared similar coolers/models and also some other popular models to have a reference. Here you have more results from the same site. I've also been taking a look at @WoodenMarker 's CPU tier list for the last couple of months, which has helped me finding more options, so I appreciate that. Based on that list, the Gammaxx 400 might be the better option but I'm here to ask for advice! So thank you if you decide to take a couple of minutes to do so

Current build I set up back in 2013 to give you an idea of where I'm coming from. My video card I had to replace a couple years back because my MSI 670 shit the bed. I currently do not own a 144hz (sad I know..) monitor either I5-3570k 4.2OC 8GB of Corsair Vengeance ddr3 MSI Z77A-GD65 MSI GTX 1060 OC 800 Watt Corsair Silent Pro Gold (still works so can possibly reuse) So now on to where I need some advice. My budget for my next build is roughly 1800-1900 dollars US. I dont do any rendering or streaming, but I do use my PC to create VM's and some remote sysadmin work. For whatever reason every time I start to do my build on the Microcenter website or even in pcpartpicker I cant seem to stop myself from going over my damn budget. I need to be able to include a 1440p freesync/gsync monitor, play at decent framerates and would like to have some decent ARGB fans/ram (it's a want not a need i know) if possible as well. Anybody mind throwing me some ideas? I also already have a Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVme ready to go so a hard drive is not needed. All input is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I'm currently using a 3570k @ 4.3ghz on an AsRock Extreme4 Z77 with a Noctua NH-U14S. My friend has a used 2600K that's he's willing to sell to me for £25, however I'm debating whether to swap my current CPU out with the older i7. I mostly play games, but I also use my PC for music production (with Studio One 3), running emulators such as Cemu and Yuzu, and occasionally video editing too. I'm happy to overclock and I'm not so worried about getting the absolute max out of my GTX 970 as I only have a 60hz 2560x1080 monitor. Is it worth swapping out my i5 for the older i7? I've heard the Sandy Bridge chips overclock really well, I can't get my 3570k past 4.3 without serious temp increases. Thanks very much for reading! EDIT: I should've made it clear that I don't have the money to upgrade my motherboard and RAM so am stuck on the Z77 platform for the forseeable future.

My CPU requires a motherboard with lga1155 socket but all I can seem to find is lga1151 will they work or will it kill CPU?

So to put it simply, this would be the next CPU for my gaming PC, no application-work needed. The 8700k is sadly more than I'm willing to pay so it basically comes down between the 8600k and 8700, which should I get in terms of future-proofing and getting the most for my money? Ideally I would have the CPU last me around 4 years if not longer like my 3570k did. Based on all the things I read about this topic so far, it seems like the 8600k overclocked would have the edge right now while the 8700 would be better long term. Atleast from what I saw this was true in past CPU generations, e.g. 3570k vs 3770. This is due to games handling more threads more and more efficiently down the line so the extra threads would help offset the lack of 500mhz global multi-core turbo compared to the 8700. I would pair either CPU with a beQuiet! Dark Rock 3 (non Pro), 16gb 3000mhz RAM and a GTX 1070. Demanding games I play currently: - Battlefield 4 - Battlefield 1 - Overwatch - PUBG - Varous MMOs, Blade & Soul, FFXIV etc. - Forza Horizon 3 - Witcher 3 Games that I want to play in the immediate future: - Battlefield 5 - Forza Horizon 4 PS: I bought my Dark Rock 3 last year, will the box have mounting-brackets for the 8xxx CPUs or do I have to order something? I have an old 3570k that's showing it's age in newer games, and I would like to overclock to get a little more juice out of it. But I would like my overclock to have that smart ai speed control (which the name of eludes me atm...) that keeps the clock speed down when I don't need it. Is that possible on an overclocked cpu and one of my generation?
