  1. Hi, This post is especially for MSI M450 Tomahawk Max users. Suppose you have 16GB Ram in your system right now and If you want to upgrade it to 32/64GB. Although this motherboard has 4 ram slots but the CPU memory controller (Corrected) on this is extremely poor, i have been using this motherboard for almost 2 years and this is what i came up with after a lot of testing and stressing. I have 4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600Mhz cl18 sticks. CPU: Ryzen 5 3600. Below are the confirmed, tested and stable configuration. (1 or 2 sticks of rams) - XMP Profile ON 1x 8GB Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600Mhz works on 3600Mhz Speed - Slot 2 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600Mhz works on 3600Mhz Speed (dual channel) - Slot 2, 4 Below are the confirmed, tested and stable configuration. (4 sticks of rams) - XMP Profile OFF If you put 4 sticks it wont work by default, here is the work around. Put 1 RAM stick Turn OFF XMP Profile Go to Overclocking and in memory speed put 3000 or 31xx, leave the rest as default Save, Boot up then Turn off. Put all 4 RAM stick, Boot up. 4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600Mhz works on 2133Mhz Speed 4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600Mhz works on 3000Mhz Speed 4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600Mhz does not works on 3200Mhz Speed (use to work before but now it does not) 4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600Mhz does not works on 3600Mhz Speed Ideal Condition: Use single 16GB stick Use 2x 16gb stick for total 32gb ram Use 2x 32gb stick for total 64gb ram Bios version: 7C02v39 Don't want to go higher than that because when selling this can not be sold to any ryzen 5 3xx series. after that bios update. Thank you for reading this. I hope this post help user deciding what to purchase when you want to upgrade or purchase new rams for this motherboard. Have a great day.
  2. Hi all, So recently I upgraded my Ram to "ADATA XPG Spectrix D50 32GB (2X16GB) 3600MHz DDR4 RGB Desktop". Before I was using Adata 2X8GB 3600 MHz And now when I turn my pc on, I have to click the power button multiple times(5-6) before it turns on, otherwise it used to turn on by pressing once. After it turns on, pc seems to be running smooth I see no issue in games or other stuff so why do I have to click so many times? Is this going to be a big issue later? Regards

  5. Budget (including currency): 350€ Country: Greece Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly for graphic design (Adobe), a bit of video & 3ds Max & games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Far Cry 5 Other details Hey guys! So, I'd appreciate any help on the matter because it's been a while since my last build and I get a bit lost on too many info (mostly irrelevant!) when searching. I'm planning to build a new PC sometime after a couple of months and the only component that I've decided on is the CPU. I'm gonna go with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. I can't afford the 5900X (price difference~160€) and going with the 5600X feels too compromising. So, 5800X it is. I'm working as a freelance graphic designer, so the final build should be good enough for image (& a bit of video) editing as well as some beginner level 3D modelling. I just saw a couple of offers for 32GB modules (at 3200MHz) and since RAM modules have a lifetime warranty (well, at least kind of), I decided to buy one of them. These are the PATRIOT VIPER STEEL SERIES 32GB (1x32GB) DDR4 3200MHZ (PVS432G320C6) sold at 140€ and the HYPERX 32GB (2X16GB) DDR4 3200MHZ (HX432C16FB4K2/32) sold at 158€ They are both 32GB 3200MHz, but the Patriot is 1 module, while the HyperX is 2 modules (& a bit more expensive, but still a bargain). Which one do you think is better for Ryzen 5800X? PATRIOT VIPER STEEL [1x32GB] or HYPERX FURY [32GB (2X16GB)]? Also, do you think it's a wise decision to buy them and let them sitting for a couple of months, since my current build doesn't support DDR4? Normally they are around 30€ more expensive. The other matter that I'm dealing with has to do with power. I'm on a Greek island and the electrical power infrastructure here is not the best. We have frequent power cuts and voltage spikes (surges), so I bought a middle-range UPS, the Powerwalker VI 2000 SCL (2000VA / 1200W). However in the first 2 weeks of using it, my PC shut down with no reason (no surges/power cuts), so I returned it to the store, and still waiting for them to test it. But two days later the same thing happened (sudden PC shut down), so I now think that it might not have been the UPS's fault, but my PSU's. So, I've decided to buy a new PSU first, which I'll use on my current build, but will also keep it on the next one with the 5800X. I'm also going to keep my GPU (Sapphire 5600XT) until GPU prices drop. Maybe a couple of years even, since my 5600XT is a very capable card. Here my budget has led me to these: Corsair RM750x (Gold), Asus ROG Strix 750w (Gold), EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3 X2 (Gold) and Corsair SF750 750W (Platinum) The best deal that I've found for these is around 155€-165€ so the stock will be limited I guess. So, which PSU do you think I should buy? Hopefully, somebody will have the patience to read this and respond! Anyway, even if you don't thank you for taking the time to read it! All opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Recently built first pc and had issues now VGA red light on and won’t boot PC: 5800x corsair lpx 32gb 3600mhz c18 palit 3080 gamingpro corsair rm850w gold psu msi mag b550 tomahawk cooler scythe fuma 2 kingston a200 1tb ssd all issues: 1.got small amount of thermal paste on cpu pins wiped some off with kitchen roll, thermal paste was non conductive 2.stupidly tried to boot pc without cou cooler on for only a few seconds 3.RAM running at 2666mhz instead of rated 3600mhz a. tried a-xmp profile 1 & 2: didn’t work b. tried setting d-ram frequency to 3600mhz: wouldn’t boot windows just returned to bios at 2666mhz tried different settings such as memory try it with 3600mhz and same timings as a-xmp: didn’t work reset to 3600mhz weeks later i attempted this again i slowly increased the d-ram frequency gradually (with everything else set to auto) only booting into bios not windows and it was working this way, when i reached 3600mhz it wouldn’t boot into windows so i lowered it to 3300mhz and it booted into windows (not sure if placebo but seemed like opening tabs and apps seemed slower) this worked alright until i tried to load valorant launcher and it turned off, turned my pc back on and tried again then computer started to make siren noise and screen went black but could still hear yt video i was watching in background, i turned the pc off with the power button and rebooted into bios and RAM was reset to 2666mhz. booted into windows fine all seemed good but pc crashed when left idle and entered sleep mode finally bringing us to today. played some games with relatives and all seemed good, ran userbenchmark and my pc crashed. rebooted and re ran it filming the operating it crashed once again and i saw it was as soon as it began to benchmark my gpu. rebooted pc and loaded into battlefield 4 and had no issues was running as expected msi afterburned showed gpu usage not getting above 75 ish %, closed bf4 opened internet browser and started watching yt and had msi afterburner up on second monitor which showed gpu usage at 0% during video after 10 mins of this i pressed my spacebar to pause video and the screen went black. tried to turn pc back on but wouldn’t boot with the gpu fans spinning but the vga red light on. re seated gpu and same situation. thank you if you made it this far im sorry for my immense stupidity and seeming lack of care i don’t know why i do the stupid things i do but please if anyone can help me i would be eternally great full. absolutely any help would amazing
  7. Hey! I'm looking to upgrade my RAM to 32GB for After Effects, Cinema4D and Premiere work. My current setup is as follows: - AMD Ryzen 3700x - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2x8) 3200Mhz CL14 - Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti - Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite I'm looking at the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB (2x16) 3200Mhz CL16 and the HyperX Fury RGB 32GB (2x16) 3200Mhz CL16, at 198€ and 170€ respectively. I'm planning to sell my current RAM sticks for maybe something around 85€. I'm aware 3200Mhz at CL14 is ideal for this CPU but the prices skyrocket way out of my budget and I've heard CL16 is also a pretty solid choice. My question is, is there a difference between the HyperX and the G.Skill sticks considering they have the same frequencies and latency or can there be differences in performance between the two due to different brands? If so, is it noticeable at all? Does the HyperX work as well with this Ryzen as the G.Skill does? Or do you have any other recommendations? Thank you!
  8. Hey, I posted something similar to this yesterday but am hoping to get a few more opinions tonight before buying (that will hopefully tip the scales one way or the other xD). Right now I have two configs i'm looking at paring with a 5900x and asus b550-e : 4x8gb 3600mhz cl16 crucial ballistix rgb or 4x16gb 3600mhz cl16 crucial ballistix rgb. Both configs are four stick since crucial changed its 16gb dimms to single rank so in order for it to run as dual rank and to net a slight performance bump I require 4 dimms (not to be confused with dual channel btw). Unfortunately, due to my current system being incredibly lacklustre, I am not sure of what programs I would be using but what I can say is that I would like to create hyper realistic models / renders, interiors and even a virtual store that you can walk around in that is incredibly close to real life (similar to the thing that LG did). Other than that I would also be dabbling in game design and as a personal hobby would be designing prosthetics / supports for people with hypermobility eds. This machine would be my workhorse for the next 3-4 fours years until I upgrade or replace it so I would like as much headroom as possible / required in order to learn. I should also mention that I would have background tasks such as chrome, photoshop, discord etc open too. Right now I am a beginner however this is my main focus and I will be dedicating 90% of my time towards it . Plus this system will also double as my computer for my online uni course. I hope this makes sense and I do apologies for posting a similar post, Stay safe, Lex.
  9. Hey guys I'm new to this and wanted to just give my old HP a little bit more speed as it came with 10gb. I currently have a HP h8-1414, 64bit windows 10, M3970AM-HP (Angelica2) motherboard. I have purchased 32gb (4-8gb sticks) of crucial ddr3l-1600 udimm 1.35v cl11 ram (ct102464bd160b). As far as I can tell this ram is correct as per crucial/other sites My computer can see the ram and it shows in system info but will not utilize it, so it is just wasted. This makes it so I have to run the old ram as the computer gives me the 3 loud beeps saying it has an error (i.e. ram) This bios is like all HP and it is locked from any modifications. Also I have tried anything I can find online and youtube. Such as the msconfig steps, etc. Any help is appreciated. (Comouter is just used for normal activities, no gaming. Just wanted quicker response) Well I feel dumb. I think I found out the issue after using cpu-z. I was using ddr3l which manufacturer says I had to use. The ram installed is ddr3 I guess the extra .15v is why it can be seen and not run? Hope this is the fix
  10. Hi i already have - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) if I bought Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (2 x 16GB) To put in the other 2 slots would they all work ok together or would I need to get another 2x 8gb sticks ?
  11. Hey guys, kinda interesting dilemma here. I had a 32gb Samsung flash drive, USB-A 2.1, cost me about $16 at the local best buy, I bought it last fall for music production class, moving sessions and audio files around from studio to studio, etc. Well, after about 2 months of it on my keychain, it fell off, and I lost it. So, i bought a newer, slightly nicer 64gb SanDisk flash drive with USB-A 3.1, its been pretty good so far. My little sister just found my old flash drive sitting in the dirt outside my parents house, so she WASHED IT OFF and then gave it to me. It's a little rusty, but I stuck it in my USB-A to USB-C adapter and plugged it into my Macbook Air, and it registers just as it did before. However I am hesitant to actually use it, due to the fact that it was submerged in water and/or mud. I've had problem with corrupted flash drives and sd cards before, and its no picnic. Any advice? Should I still use it?
  12. Help! I originally had Corsair Vengence Pro - 2x8gb/3600Mh i added 2 more sticks of ram - same specks. so now I have 32gb/3600mh (4x8) I keep getting BSOD unless I turn of D.O.C.P and don’t run it at 3600 so now I’m stuck running at 2133 or something. MOBO - ROG X570-F CPU - AMD 5800X GPU - MSI Suprim X 3080 PSU - H1000X RAM - 32gb (4 x 8) 3600Mhrz I’ve had many error codes so I honestly don’t remember them but they change each time and the system doesn’t stay running for longer than 5mins and the Windows “encounters a problem and needs to restart” but it just ends up being in a loop doing this until I turned of DOCP and just had it running Auto at 2133. did I do something wrong? I honestly though it was just a “slot in and go” situation
  13. I recently built a brand new computer, my first one ever. It went pretty smooth and (IMO) look great. I booted it up for the first time and the ram is not up to speed. I adjust the D.O.C.P. and it still doesn't work. I set the ram speed manually to 3600 mhz, but it still isn't working. I looked online but no one seemed to have an answer. Does anyone know the problem/have a way to fix this? Parts List: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x EVGA Nvidia 3070 ti ASUS ROG Strix B550-f wifi motherboard Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32gb 3600 mhz DDR4 Samsung 970 evo plus 2tb These are the only parts that I could think would maybe affect ram speed. If more parts need to be listed, just let me know.
  14. Hallo Everyone, I just bought an extra kit of 2x8gb ram from corsair so i could upgrade to 32gb of ram. But after inserting they would not run at 3200hz, but they ran at 2133. I have enabled XMP/DOCP (DOCP in my instance) and they still wouldnt run at 3200. If i changed to 3200 docp the pc would have problems booting. Its it normal for 4 sticks to just run at 2133? If anyone got tips on how i can fix this or if its just normale for it to do so. that would be amazing! with friendly regarts, Duski
  15. Hey guys, Im running a Dark hero with G.SKILL Ram: F4-3600C14D-32GTZN Thats a dual channel kit with 2x 16 gb. Now Id like to upgrade to 64gb and wonder if I can buy the same kit again and basically run the same dual kit twice 4x 16gb. My cpu is a 5950x. Will I run into issues? Thanks guys!
  16. I currently have G.SKILL Ripjaws V 16GB, DDR4-3200 ---> (4x4GB) Plan adding +16GB more to my system, my qustion would be: Do i need to add (4x4GB) again or (2x8GB) will work aswell? [Sorry if this question is cringe] - Regards and Thank you in Advance!
  17. Budget (including currency): £300 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Affinity, Fusion 360, Blender, Reality Capture, DaVinci Resolve... I'd love to get into VR for product visualisation too. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So, I build a workstation when my existing system prevents me from progressing with my work. For my Intel 5960x, GTX 980, 16gb 2166 ram (I think), now is the time to upgrade as I can't render anything I'm now designing without hours passing. It's so hard to complete certain tasks now. I am an end to end brand designer which means designing products and producing the marketing visuals for those products, concept to market. My aim is to build another workstation that will last another 4-6yrs with maybe one GPU upgrade midway. I was lucky enough to grab an AMD 5950x at launch to pair with a x570 MSI MEG Unify (photo attached, not for cringe bragging, but just to show my request for info is genuine and not a fantasy build to waste anybody's time). I know exactly what I'll be putting in the system except the GPU and RAM. GPU will likely be Nvidia, but I'm waiting a few weeks for the availability to improve and also see if a 3080 with 20gb is going to come out. Like I said, I'm trying to build with a little more future proofing in the system. Spending a little more on a 20gb variant now might save a year or two on the next GPU upgrade therefore being better value. 3090 is not in budget. The RAM is the the main thing that's confusing me though, especially since the new Ryzen CPUs seem particularly performance sensitive to it... In the opinion of people on here, for RAM on 5950x with my intended workloads and use scenarios, would you go for 4400mhz c19 at 32gb, or 3600mhz c18 at 64gb? Both can be had within the system RAM budget. I'm guessing 4400mhz will unlock the 5950x more in my applications, but is that worth the trade-off for 32gb instead of 64gb? Which trade-off will I notice? Will I notice either? I don't know a whole lot about RAM. I'm competent enough to build a system and enable XMP, but I'm in no way an expert. I would also say that because this is a workstation that needs to be as reliable as a rising sun and bullet proof stable, I am not keen on overclocking components beyond auto 'one click' options or very mild manual tweaks. System will be air-cooled. Thanks in advance for any opinions.
  18. Hello there, I have the following issue with a ram upgrade: I have the following pc: HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0017ns, and in terms of RAM this machine has Dual Channel (16gb cl19 2166Mhz), and I did the upgrade to the Corsair 32gb cl16 3200mhz. When installed in my motherboard, they run at 2133mhz, and because it is HP, there is NOWAY to find any ram settings in the BIOS neither the XMP Intel. I would like to find any solution that would allowd me at least (if I cannot enable XMP porfile) to let the at the default speed (2666Mhz, wich is the speed of the ram that was in my machine from the factory). Thanks.
  19. I tried to use my old 32GB kit of DDR4 and it ran into issues with my Ryzen build (BSOD memory managament crashes etc) so I had to replace it with the 16GB of ADATA it came with (which it runs perfectly stable with no issues). I'm in the process of looking for a compatible 32GB kit while speed is nice I really just want something that works and is stable. Preferably easy to set up too just take out the old kit and put in the new one. The Ryzen build has a 1800X and a Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 5 motherboard. Motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-AX370-Gaming-5-rev-10#kf Now according to the documentation and supported memory it supports a wide range however, none of them show 32GB of density: http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-AX370-Gaming-5-rev-10#support-doc I don't see any reason why it can't support 32GB provided that it is supported by the motherboard and the kit is good. Anyhow any recommendations on just a solid 32GB kit that will work with these? Thanks.
  20. Okay so soon I will be building a PC and I wanted to know if I will ever need more than 16GB of RAM for basic 1920x1080 at 60FPS. I was think of going 4x4GB meaning I won't have any room for expansion. Should I do this or go for 2x8GB or 4x8GB?
  21. So well, a 32GB macbook coming...? Article: http://www.macrumors.com/2017/01/16/kaby-lake-macbooks-ming-chi-kuo/
  22. Hello, My configuration is: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Gigabyte GA-AX370-GAMING K7 Corsair Vengeance 32GB - CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 Today was update of BIOS - F3. I can't run anything more than 2400mhz on memory, while cpu is on 3,9ghz 1.325V. I can set 2667mhz only if cpu is on 4,0ghz >1.4V. It's bootable, but it's unstable. When cpu is 3,9Ghz 1.325V, 2667mhz wont even boot. What's more, the BIOS reset process is a tragedy - I had to detach one memory. I have to admit: before F3 I couldn't even set xmp profile. Only 2133mhz worked. Should I be calm and wait for further BIOS update? Maybe it's more about memory size? Is this problem occur on any other motherboards?
  23. So I've got me an MSI B350M Mortar and a Ryzen 1700. I'm currently looking at 2 different options of G.Skill Trident RGB RAM , but am worried about Ryzen having problems using 4 modules of RAM. Is there anyone out there using a 32GB kit (4x8GB) with either the Tomahawk/Mortar, or really any Ryzen board? I've checked the QVL for this motherboard and it surprisingly has listed F4-3200C16Q-32GTZR which is 4 x 8GB with 16-18-18-38 timings but it's SK hynix. Or would it be better to get 2 sets of F4-3200C14D-16GTZR which is not on the QVL list but is Samsung B.Die with 14-14-14-34 timing?
  24. I currently have 16gb of corsair vengance pro series RAM 1866MHZ. My computer is sometimes running at 50% RAM idle. And is beginning to feel a bit slow while using programmes such as After Effects, Premier, and other editing software. I was thinking of getting another identical 16gb but i saw they do a new version that is the same price but runs at 2400MHZ. My question is, should i get an additional 16gb of the same speed, or keep 16gb but get faster speed?
