So I recently bought a 27inch 1440p 144hz monitor. I have an old gaming laptop with 7700hq and a gtx 1050 4gb most games run fine, but some games like valorant when run in fullscreen lock to 30hz,regardless of what selection i make in the settings it's obviously a graphic driver fault or the game's fault, as i can run at 120hz when i use windowed fullscreen, and it works for other games too. i want to run it in fullscreen because it gives me 30-40 more fps

I recently updated my pc from umix 20.04 which stopped booting to 21.04 and well it seams to work but refresh rate is locked at 30hz in display. The tv is 120hz capable at 4k. How would i set it to 60 or above? I get lines while even scrolling through web pages.

Hi There I Get That The RTX 4090 Has A Max Digital Resolution Of 8K But With DSR And The Custom DSR Tool You Can Get A Much Higher Res. But I'M Wondering If There Is A Hard Limit Of 10K Like With HDMI 2.1 With A Displayport 1.4 48Gbps 8K Cable,I'm Just Wondering If I Can Push 16K 30 Through The Cable Also The Abandonware Game That I've Gotten To Work At 8K DSR Is Sonic Adventure 2 Battle So Id Be Willing To Try 16K Even If I Loose 60Hz Refresh Rate For A 60FPS Locked Game Title Please Get Back To This Post With Any Suggestions Any Help Would Be Appreciated Bye For Now.

I have a HP Pavilion with a i7-6700HQ with Nvidia GeForce GTX 960m and im planing to buy a Samsung 4K LU32J590UQLXZX 32" for working and light graphic design as my main display (the laptop display i will turn off) but i have hdmi 1.4 so 4k just up to 30hz it works so should i use it for work 4k 30hz or maybe 1440 60hz but i read it will be worst than a native 1440 so my two questions are is 4k 30hz is it really that bad if just working like coding stuff and light photoshop? and 1440 60hz on a 4k monitor is really bad or just a little bad compare to native? (I just really want 4k and the one i found is the perfect size for my desk and want to watch movies 4k) Thanks you in advance!

So maybe once a month on average, i turn my PC on, and it boots into windows running at 3840x2160@30hz, not the glorious 60hz i expect. Irritatingly, the AMD settings panel has this notification but does not offer a solution; "we have detected a problem with your display link, so you may not be able to run desired resolutions and framerates" It's an easy fix i just reboot the PC and 99% of the time it fixes it, 100% of the time after 2 reboots, but clearly this isn't something i want to put up with. I'm running the latest driver, even though this problem has persisted through the last 4 or 5 drivers. I'm using a 1 meter Lindy Displayport 1.2 rated cable so that shouldn't be the problem, industry standard cable maker. used the shit one that came with the monitor to test that and it still did it the PB287Q doesn't magically switch into DP 1.1 mode when this happens, i have checked before kinda stumped, help anyone ?

so i got a lg 27ud68 4k monitor, i have 3 very high end hdmi cables but i could only get 30hz from it. idk if they are hdmi 1.4 or 2.0 or whatever. later i started playing gta 5, i couldnt get it to play at 4k, but eventually it ran at 4k after i try to run gta 5 in windows mode. i noticed that my monitor was running at 60hz, i thought maybe it needed time to adjust. everything was smooth, and it ran fine. then today its back to 30hz, no matter what i do i cant get it to display at 60hz.... so what happened? should i just buy a dp cable? or am i doing something wrong. i have a rx 480. and i updated the drivers. and lastly i see an option for 5120 x 2880... but i cant choose it. it only goes up to 3840 x 2160

Hi everyone, I desperately need help with my monitor and laptop setup. To start off, I am working with a Surface Pro 3 I5 and intel 4400 graphics. I recently got my hands on a samsung ue590 series which is a 4k display which can run at 4k 60Hz. I got my Surface and monitor connected with an HDMI cable that supports DP1.2, HDMI 2.0 and 4k@60Hz and a mini-displayport to HDMI adapter (The adapter is the official microsoft one which should also work with 60Hz). I got the HDMI cable in the second port of the monitor because that's the one that supprts 4k@60hz (port 1 only support 30Hz). However everything is set up correctly I can only run 4k@30Hz which is kind of dissapointing. When I go to the advanced display settings I cannot choose anything higher then 30Hz, but if I set my resolution to 2560x1440 I can choose 60Hz. I have tried everything I found online and nothing works so far so help would be very much appreciated. Some of the things I've tried: -Download latest monitor drivers, intel drivers and surface updates. -Switch the HDMI port. -Set the monitor to DP1.2.

Hi everyone! I've searched quite a lot to find an answer to this question, but I'm not convinced I've found any proper solutions... I'll link my build here for reference: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/imabaldeagle/saved/yxWkTW So the issue I'm having is that my 4k monitor will only run at 30hz instead of 60, as it has for most of the time I've owned it. I recently upgraded my build and replaced 2 of my old monitors (both 1080p, one 60hz, one 144hz) with 3 new ones (all 1080p, 144hz). This leaves me with those 3 monitors as well as my 4k monitor. My assumption is that my current video card, EVGA GTX 1070 8GB FTW, isn't powerful enough to run the 3 1080p 144hz monitors alongside the 4k monitor at 60hz. Instead I've had to run the 4k monitor at 30hz. Unfortunately, until the 3080s become available again, I won't have a more powerful graphics card to test this on. I've already ruled out the cable as the potential issue. I'd just appreciate if someone who knows their stuff can confirm my suspicion or potentially provide me with additional troubleshooting options. Thanks guys Edit: I'd like to note that this is my first post, so please let me know if I didn't provide the right information or if I'm violating any rules by posting this and I'll get it sorted out ASAP. Thanks!

Just finished a new build with a Zotac 1080Ti Amp Extreme Core. Problems, only one of the dual monitors work. Cannot get both working. Tried changing one of the display ports to HDMI but still nadda. Also, the screen will only do 4k with 30hz refresh rate. Graphics are surprisingly poor right now. I did try and reseat the card a few times and also tried drivers straight from NVidia as well. Could the low 30hz refresh rate have something to do with the DP cables? Seems like even older DP cables would still beat 30hz at 4k resolution. -Cheers

I need help. I have had this 40" 4K monitor for 2 years now and it has been perfectly working at 4K 60hz via displayport. Yesterday I tried to connect my laptop with USB C to the monitor via a USB C to displayport adapter. When I connected the cable, the laptop screen flashed many times and momentarily the 4k monitor did 4k 60hz. But after a restart I was never able to get an image on the monitor via my laptop via displayport. Anyway I thought it wasn't that bad because I didn't really need 4k 60hz from my laptop. But the messed up thing now is, when I connected my PC via displayport, the recommendation resolution became 2048 x 1080. And ive since tried everything to get it working at 4K. The max I can do is 4K 60hz now. Even by disconnecting all the cables, power on/off, replacing the dp cables, changing from dp 1.1 to 1.2 on the osd. Nothing works. Even resetting the monitor. Could the cable have destroyed the monitor? And what can I do to get 4K 60hz. I need help plez.

Ok so this just happened, yes it really did. I wanted to install my sound card (xonar phoebus) which i had problems with before but can live with now (also nothing to do anything at all with this problem). So thinking its a 30 second job i put it in an empty slot and turn on my pc. Immediately after booting windows i noticed everything is weird with the refresh rate. I check and see that my 4k monitor is on 30Hz. WHAT!? was my reaction as well. After trying all the pci-e slots, installing the sound card drivers and reinstalling my videocard drivers i still could only run the monitor at 4k30Hz. Even 1440p showed a max of 30Hz, 1080p does go to 60Hz. But wait there's more! I got sick of trying all this crap so decided to just remove the sound card and not use it. Well my PC (or more precisely windows 10) decided, NOPE not happening, still only 30Hz max. So after thinking for a couple of minutes i remembered i have a windows 7 installation on my other SSD. So i booted that and the monitor goes up to 60Hz as it should be. Back to windows 10 and now i can also choose to run the monitor at 60Hz. So my windows 7 just fixed my windows 10? WTF?! Thinking i found the solution to my sound card problem i reinstall it and boot to windows 10. Yay 30Hz max again. Booted to windows 7, CRAP 30Hz max. So my question here is kinda obvious i guess, how the HELL does installing a sound card have ANYTHING at all to do with a monitor....? The most important thing here is that i changed NOTHING settings wise. I've run this monitor on 4k60Hz for weeks now and all i did was put in a sound card. edit: tried google, but what the hell do you even google for to find anything on this?

So, I have a Hisense ub40ec591, a 40" uhd tv which i am using with my gtx 980 and a highspeed hdmi cable. PROBLEM: it does not go over 30hz ultra hd without giving me a purple and green picture and cropping it. 30hz is no problem but anything above does not work (using hdmi 2.0 and the newest firmwares). Also i have quite some input lag. What could cause this problem? anything I can do with the nvidia control panel? or could the cable be the problem?

Hey all, First time posting But I've been really struggling making up my mind on what GPU to upgrade to. Currently, I have a GTX 260... so realistically I know I'm winning either way! My setup will be: - primarily gaming on a 24" 1080p monitor - occasional gaming on 50" 4K TV, via HDMI - as well as Netflix, HTPC usage on the same 4K TV I have narrowed down my choices to the EVGA 970 SSC, or one of the R9 390s. Understanding that the R9 390 does not have HDMI 2.0, I have read that gaming will be subpar at 30hz (since my TV does not have a DP option). However, the 390 will likely be better long term due to the Directx 12, 8GB etc. I've read some promising reports of an 'active' adapter in-the-works for DP to HDMI 2.0 but there will apparently be other issues to worry about. With what I intend to use it for in mind, and the fact that I would not like to replace the card for several years, what do you suggest? In the next 3-5 years will VRAM really become an issue if I go with the HDMI 2.0 ready card (970)? Should I look more long term and hope for a proper adapter to develop- or will I even notice a large difference gaming in 4K at 30hz? Thank you!

A friend of mine bought a 4k tv that he now uses with a pc rig thats able to push fps way high anough to push 60fps. but does the 4k tv Hdmi only block him from getting 60hz? ive seen that there's some hdmi's that are able to puch 60 fps at 4k. but it seems his tv does not have this. is it possible to use a DP connector on a hdmi cable to "force" Dp output frome the gpu? or using a DP cable with a hdmi adapter to go dp frome the pc and hdmi into the tv? thx if u can help!

Is there a way I can change my laptop monitor's 60Hz refresh rate to 30Hz or 48Hz? I want to play games desperately and I'm willing to play them at a console's 30fps level. I have a 1366x768 monitor and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 230m.

hey guys, im just need your help on one thing im building a cheep build for my parents, but as its gonna be used for lots of film watching, I decided to go 4k. Here are the specs Intel Core i3 4330 Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD3 M.ATX4-8GB RAM Samsung 850EVO SSD (120GB) 625w PSU Cheap Case Samsung U28D590 4k 28 inch monitor while i have selected a 60hz 4k monitor, I am planning to use the display port 1.2 output from the motherboard, which is rated at 4096x2160@24 or 3840x210@30hz, from the HD4600 onboard graphics. My question is, how smooth will 30Hz look??. The computer will only be used for light browsing and film watching. Also can the HD4600 graphics in the i3 4330 play back high bitrate 4k videos smoothly??. One last question: i know that there have been some issues with people only getting a 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 signal. Is this the case with this build or is a nice clean 4:4:4 image guaranteed???

I've always wondered if there was a reason that 90% of monitors run at a refresh rate of 60Hz, while the other 10% are either 30, 120 or 144hz models. Does anyone know why are these the only refresh rates you can find for monitors? Why not make a monitor that runs at say, 75 or 90Hz? I run my monitor over-clocked to 75Hz and it makes a tangible difference, at least in games. Linus's latest video on freesync reminded me of this apparent peculiarity but I can't be the only person to have considered this. Can anyone shed some light on why this isn't a thing already? Thanks.

So I just got this new 4k AOC U2868PQU monitor, which is 60Hz capable, and is connected to my r9 290 trough displayport, so everything should be fine. The monitor works fine on 30Hz (it works, its still making me puke however). The problem is that once I crank the refresh-rate up to 60Hz the screen starts flickering like crazy and i wont be able to see. One thing I've noticed that in the settings of the monitor the text: H-synchronization: 68Khz V-synchronization: 30Hz appeared. I'm thinking this would cause the flickering of black bars coming down the screen from top to bottom. Any help would be appreciated, so that I can game again P.S. I'm on windows 7 and just heard that it might be windows 7 not supporting 4k right, and that i need windows 8, could this be true?
