Hello everyone, I've never used a forum before as I can usually figure things out on my own. Recently though, I've had a random audio crackle/pop (just one every now and then) and for me it's unbearable knowing something's wrong. I've tried everything I can think of, going as far as replacing my MOBO thinking it was an onboard audio jack issue. I got a new case as well as I use the front audio jack for my earbuds. I also just bought new earbuds and this has not worked, the issue continues. If you have any questions please let me know. Any help is appreciated. System specs: - MSI B550 MAG TOMAHAWK - RYZEN 7 5800X3D - CORSAIR VENGEANCE PRO RGB 2X16GB CL18 3600MHZ - ASUS TUF 4070TI OC - MSI MPG A850G 850W GOLD Please let me know of any other specs you'd think would matter.

So my odyssey kinda started when my Logitech G933 Headset died and my quest for a new headset began. I tried a few wireless ones until i bought the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 and am super happy now. I had my Logitech z506 5.1 system plugged to my fractal design define r5 back panel audio jacks and my headset (Beyerdynamic MMX 300) to my front panel audio jacks. Headphone and mic have a separate 3.5 mm jack. At the beginning, everything was okay. My asus rog crosshair hero vi wifi-ac seems to have a good enough sound chip to power my 32 ohm headset. The issues then started a few days in. I was in discord with a few friends and suddenly my sound (what i hear through the headphones) was transfered over my mic to discord and my friends. I then muted my mic on the inline remote of my headset cable and still sound was transported. Even stranger, if i muted my microphone and my friends started talking, they could hear themselves through my microphone. It's like i put my device on loopback. After some more testing, it seems like audio is being transported through the cable even when i mute my mic. Muting mic on cable and knocking on cable led to windows picking up audio from my mic... I then plugged in my headset to the back panel audio jacks (unplugged my 5.1 system). The issues were gone. No echoing, loopback or any other strange issues. I then went on another mighty quest for epic external dacs/soundcards/whatever you call those devices. everyone said, get a soundblaster g6 so i got a soundblaster x3 instead, because it has 7.1 input on back, line in, mic+headphones on front and even an optical out. A few days later the quest for a dac was solved and i got my x3. everything was fine and all until the sound blaster command software (or how i call it: hellware) started torturing me with stupid hiccups, freezes, crashes and stuff. now back to my main story line: how do i get my front panel audio jacks insulated/schielded so i can just plug in my headset on the front and have fun? it's 2021 and i can't believe front panel audio jacks are just decoration and not good for actual use.

I have a little problem here. I recently purchased an MacBook Pro and I connect it to my logitech speakers via the 3.5mm Jack but sometimes I experience an issue where the sound get's redirected from the 3.5mm jack to the build-in speakers. Did someone of you experience the same issue? The only (temp) solution for this problem seems to be unplugging the speakers and plugging them back in :/ Sry if this was the wrong category. I also don't know if that's an Hardware or Software issue. I'm currently running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

Hello, I'm looking for headphones with a 3,5mm jack and Bluetooth capabilities. It should also have a mic which can be removed or retracted. I found the SteelSeries Arctis 3 Bluetooth headphones, Does anyone know any other headphones with the same functions for around 100€? I also want to use it with my rift S headset, but I don't know if the Steelseries one will fit over the headstraps?

I was looking into a new mobo, and I noticed most mobo's these days have a S/PDIF port in stead of the grey 3.5mm audio jack. I have a 7.1 surround setup in my room that uses the green, orange, black and grey 3.5mm audio jacks. But I can not find any good mobo's with the 6 3.5mm jack ports. It is either 3 ports or 5 and a digital one. Can I just use a converting cable as the grey jack or does it not work like that at all?

Source: https://9to5mac.com/2016/11/02/phill-schiller-addresses-new-macbook-pro-controversy-explains-why-apple-dropped-the-sd-card-but-kept-the-headphone-jack/ In an interview with The Independent, Apple marketing exec Phil Schiller discusses the development and public response to the new MacBook Pros. Well I'll get right to the meat The new Pros have no SD card slot for a camera memory card. Why not? Why does the new MacCook Pro's have a 3.5mm jack while the iPhone 7 doesn't? Schiller also confronts critics who saw the new MacBook Pros and were disappointed, suggesting Apple doesn’t care about the Mac business anymore, or at least the Mac desktop business. Schiller strongly disagrees and says “We love the Mac and are as committed to it, in both desktops and notebooks, as we ever have been.”. That being said, Schiller admits he was a bit surprised by the negative reactions, even though all Apple product fuels early criticism and debate. On the Touch Bar innovations, Schiller says the notebook form factor is not going anyway anytime soon but the Touch Bar enables a more interactive experience that is “coplanar with the keyboard and trackpad”. Schiller also says that iOS and macOS are fundamentally different products and necessitate unique software. Schiller quotes one particular example, the Mac menubar. He says if you made the mac a touchscreen, you’d have to work out a way to use the menubar with touch and says it is simply not as good or as intuitive as with a mouse and trackpad. My Thoughts: I guess this solves some controversy as to why they did what they did. Personally, I couldn't care less about the SD card slot as I already have a USB Card Reader which supports far more slot format than the SD slot PS: The forum seems very buggy to me. The Quotation box is for some reason unnecessarily big and I had trouble editing this all this (it just keeps freezing and I have to refresh the page)

I was wondering, could I plug the USB cable from the Blue Yeti Pro into a female USB to male 3.5mm audio jack connector and plug it into the audio jack port on my sound card? Would that work or not? Because I think it needs to be plugged into a USB port for the power but maybe the 3.5mm audio jack port would be suffice? Thanks!

My mic stopped working a while ago, and lots of troubleshooting later, I finally diagnosed the problem. As you can tell from the title,it is the 3.5 mm jack connection. The only way I can make my mic work is to push the the jacks together as hard as I can and only then my mic will work. But, as soon as I let go the mic stops working again. If anyone could help or suggest some jank solutions that would be great (I've already tried tape, that doesn't work). I have a pair of HyperX Cloud Cores if that helps.

I have a laptop (HP 450 G4). I bought it last August (2017) through school and my 3.5 mm input jack is corrupting all mic sound, to the point where it’s basically ear rape. I don’t know what happens or why. I have tried multiple headsets and earbuds (kraken pro v2, Astro A40, SteelSeries Arctis 5 and Apple earbuds) and the problem still persists, I borrowed the sound card that comes with the HyperX Cloud II from a friend, and when plugged in to a USB port the mic sounds Normal. I also tried the same headsets and earbuds on my iPad there the mic works normally. So my question is: do anyone know how to fix this and what causes it?

I have Sony MDR-XB950AP headphones in hand and the 3.5mm jack broke 2 weeks ago and time has come to finally repair it. I have this 2 slightly different jacks from not working headphones and I don't want any of them to be wasted tbh, so which one is easier to cut open and more suitable for a replacement? And I'll apprichate you if you tell me which color is right and left channels and mic oh and btw there's two ground cables not to confuse you. Thanks already.

I'm really clueless here but I'll try to describe the problem I'm having the best I can anyway. Ever since this morning I noticed my Audio was on the quieter side, was using whatever Audio Drivers that came with the 388.00 Display Driver for my 3GB GTX 1060 at the time. Now that I've updated to 388.31 it's not only still quiet but horribly corrupted sounding, I want to say almost like 1 bit audio but I don't know what that's like. This only occurs when I have my headphones plugged into the 3.5mm jack the front of my Logitech X-230 speakers. When plugged into the front port on my PC it sounds fine & as loud as it should be. Furthermore, it should be noted that just now I for a 2nd time, unplugged my speakers & tried plugging my headphones into the back of my PC. They sounded fine but still somewhat quiet, so I plugged my speakers back in & then plugged my headphones into them. The corruption has gone away but it's still quiet compared to the front ports. So now I'm more confused than ever, is this my Nvidia Audio Drivers or Windows 10? *Update: Now the front audio jack on my PC wont work lol but the one on the front of my speakers sounds fine

Hello, Im looking for a product which i haven't been able to find anywhere. My PC is fairly distant from where i sit so i want a Hub of some sort that can bring all the required ports closer to me. Basically, im looking for a product similar to this: Except, it requires 3.5mm jack for audio and microphone and then USBs on the side as well. Maybe also if there is 2 audio ports one for headphones and another for speakers so i can switch between or something. Lastly, i want to be able to stick it under my desk so it doesn't take up space on top but if something like that is not available then any other shape will do. Thank you guys

So apparent leaks about the iPhone 7 (they are usually correct, especially when multiple ones show the same, but I always take them with a grain of salt) so that among a few changes, the iPhone 7 apparenlty dropped the 3.5mm jack. Thay is an interesting thing, I'm sure lightning to 3.5mm jack sales will go up, and perhaps we'll see two versions of some headphones or perhaps adapters included. Let's not go into bluetooth *shivers* So looks like Apple Inc. has made another bad decision that fanboys and such will welcome, and people from the side lines might look and wonder why. Were do you find yourself? Do you welcome the loss or lament the days of 3.5mm jack? Do you think the leaks are fake? Could 3.5mm be like the SC card for the GS6? Gone only for it to return in the next version? If anyone is interested in a link (apparenly people can't google for themselves now) here it is http://m.gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/iphone-7-leaked-video-shows-no-35mm-headphone-jack-lightning-to-35mm-adapter-tipped-865063

No we all know about those AUX cable splitters that you get for your phone or iPod or whatever that split one 3.5mm output into two, letting you share your music and whatnot with your friends. I used to have the opposite issue, in a way, and I never really got around to asking- is there a device that will take two 3.5mm outputs, say from both your Xbox and PC, so you can Skype while you game, and merge them into one? It was really annoying to have to wear one part of two headphones to try and combine both tasks- ask well as the fact that it screws with your ability to hear both things, and I'm sure there are plenty of other people with this problem. If this doesn't exist, I think this could be a HUGE seller, possibly just as big as it's opposite cousin. If it doesn't exist, and you make it, I get royalties :). But does this already exist?

TL;DR: Experiencing gradual increasing static and eventual failure of sound on Steam through integrated speakers and headphones through 3.5mm jack. Sound functions normally through Logitech G930 USB sound transmitter. Machine Details: -Model: MSI GT70 2PC -GPU: GTX 870M -GPU Driver: 359.00 -CPU: i7-4800MQ -OS: Windows 10 Home x64 Meat and Potatoes: -Problem: The problem only occurs while playing games through Steam such as Skyrim and Team Fortress 2 or more recently, Fallout 4. When the game is initialized, the sound through the laptop's integrated speakers or through the 3.5mm headphone jack at first plays just fine. Over a period of about 5 minutes of playing however, a gradually increasing static sound begins to overwhelm the game's sound. Playing even longer causes a complete loss of audio altogether. Increasing or decreasing the system's volume has no effect on the static sound whatsoever. Outside of Steam there is no problem, Youtube and drive media play just fine. The problem was not apparent with the original Windows 8.1 OS, it only started happening after upgrading to Windows 10. The only way I have manged to get the audio to work since the OS upgrade is through a USB sound transmitter thanks to my Logitech G930 headsets, but those have their own list of problems, they have just made playing possible with audio. -Attempted Solutions: Installed latest 64 bit Realtek audio drivers Attempted to install latest 32 bit Realtek audio drivers (would not install) Reinstall Windows 10 (attempted on about half a dozen occasions) Installed OEM audio software from MSI's support page Installed latest Windows updates Disabled all audio enhancements Cleanly installed each of the past 5 NVIDIA drivers Tried opening the game files directly instead of through Steam Open to any and all suggestions, I'd really like to be able to play with ear buds again since my G930's do not function properly (unrelated issues). Thanks!

Hi, in the last week or so my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1's headphone jack has not been functioning properly. I need to push the inserted headphone upwards for it to register as in, and for sound to play through it. I found one similar problem another user had with his Note, he said he called Samsung Note 10.1, but they said they couldn't work on kt for some Bs sounding reason. Mine is still under warrenty, but I slighty cracked the screen of my tablet after the headphone issues started, so I am worried they will say it stopped working due to "abuse". I have nit called samsung yet, but I will soon. If that doesn't work, what else can I do? Thanks for the help
