I'm close to buying this 2nd hand RTX 2080 but just noticed that one of the tracks of the PCI connector is a little damaged in one of the listing's photo. Could this be a serious issue? I asked the owner for a video showing the GPU working. If in the video it works fine, do I assume that the missing bit is no problem or could it still be? Thanks!

I was browsing a local 2nd hand site and found a 1080 ti going for 310 USD (using usd as a universal currency) I immediately clicked on that listing since I knew that could be a good price as I read through the listing I noticed that the person was willing to trade in a 1050 ti to lower the price to 235 USD (I currently have a 1050 ti) hence the title Now I was wondering if that is worth my time because this person does live like 2 hours away from me The gpu models in question (urls): - 1080 ti - 1050 ti

Hello all, So long story short, my flatmate went on holiday to his home country and never came back(we're both immigrants and no, he not ded, don't worry) so all his crap he left on me. Between that mound of crap, was a crappy PC that the other flatmate will buy hopefully, if he can sort out windows for himself. If not, it just goes on gumtree. Anyway, I'm not very well versed in prices around here especially 2nd hand stuff, but im guessing its not worth too much. I dont have exact specs but i can recall the important parts off the top of my head anyway: Intel C2Duo running around 2.5GHz, some really old one(the socket is, but the chipset isnt even viable for a q6600 upgrade) 3 GB RAM 300GB Maxtor Sata drive Geforce 7600 GPU Generic case, generic PSU 17" HP monitor, 1280x1024 M, KB Im going to plough the HDD clean and just put linux on it to show its functioning. To be honest it'd be pretty decent as a "moms email machine" sort of thing. So, my plan is to just sell it in one, and be done with it, i was thinking around 50£. Is that a viable price? Should I ask more or less? i know the monitor I could probably sell for 15-ish on its own, so thats my line of reasoning. Thanks in advance!

I bought a 2nd hand Radeon HD 7870 GHz edition, with after market cooler from a local chain of shops called CEX here in Ireland, they also operate in places like the UK and Australia. The graphics card I got was factory overclocked to 1100MHz, and is fairly good. In Ireland PC parts, even 2nd hand ones, can cost a lot, so to pay only €115 for a GPU that can still game wasn't bad, not great, but wasn't bad. I threw it in a joke of a test bed PC where it was slaughtered by my laptop, which it's GPU (GeForce GTX 860m) isn't that much more, powerful but it's CPU is, so it cleared ahead in CPU dominant games and was equaled in others. What was your awesome deals (or not so awesome) for GPU's, new or used.

Ok so I need desperate help trying to revive a PC that was built over a decade ago. I inherited this PC, and have no idea what to salve and what to change. I have a $250 budget for replacement parts, and I am uncertain about what parts still work as the PC doesn't even start up. About 2 years ago my brother attempted to fix it but gave up after the PC crapped out on is after just 1 week. Here is a list of all the parts, (some ancient) that I have to work with. 1x ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE Motherboard 1x unknown CPU (possibly stock with motherboard) 1x Sapphire hd 7750 1gb gddr5 gpu 1x AMD CPU cooler (serial code FOXCONN 2z099-???? Built 2006) 1x WD2500JS 250GB 7200rpm hard drive built 2005 1x Optical DVD Drive with I think cd disc rewriter? 1x ISO Switching power supply Max 420W psu (possibly 2005 also) 1x 80mm rear mounted fan 1x reasonably sized tower case Now the entire thing has been disassembled to the best of my ability apart from the screws as it's filled with dust and needs a good clean 1st. So my plan was to update the PC with these parts but 1st I want to know if any of the current parts are salvageable? Planned upgrades: 1x Intel Core i3-4170 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor 1xASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard 1x Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive 1xCorsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply 1xCooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler I want to know if I can save money reusing the existing parts or if you guys can recommend any better suggestions. My goal is to hit 1080p resolution between 30-60fps, but I know thats probably unrealistic atm. Any help or insight into what I have and what I should do would be much appreciated.

Hi Everyone, This'd be my first post here. I'd like to ask for some advice on my situation, now I found an ad on FB selling some Xeon PCs: DELL PRECISION T3500 Xeon E5630 2.5ghz 4gb Ram 320gbHDD (http://www.cnet.com/products/dell-precision-fixed-workstation-t3500-xeon-e5630-2-53-ghz-monitor-none-series/specs/) DELL PRECISION T3500 Xeon W3530 2.8ghz 4gb ram 250gbHDD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68F2B19553) DELL PRECISION T3500 Xeon W3520 2.6ghz 4gb ram 250gbHDD (couldn't find a PC spec for this guy) selling for Php 4500 or about US $93.62 which I found very tempting considering I'm running an Intel i3 2100 3.10 GHz 3 HDDs which are 2 500Gb(Seagates) and 1TB (Toshiba, (7200 rpm for all 3) 8GB of ram 2x4GB Kingston memory (not a dual channel kit) Palit GT 730 GDDR5 64bit 1GB A MSI H61M-P23 (B3) Mobo Dual monitors Which I mainly use for audio production, video editing (with severe frame drops during layered videos) using Adobe Premier Pro CS6 and a bit of gaming (I would like to get back into gaming though I don't think my current machine can handle most newer games) I'm kind of torn if I should get a new SSD (I saw a Micron SSD 256GB for about $52 US) to speed up my machine for video editing purposes (I'm not even sure how significant the change would be although I did hear good things when switching to an SSD for my OS and Video editing software) or if I should get one of the Xeon PCs I posted. Advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, I need some help identifying whether a 2nd hand GPU I was considering purchasing was damaged. Here is a link to the site R9 280X. I was worried about the 2nd photo above the connector, where there appears to be some black streaking. I'm not sure if that's dirt or if the card itself may be damaged. Thanks in advance guys

Challenge:- How cheap can you pick up these parts?
xvantok posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
My challenge: how cheap can you find all the below parts? (2nd Hand/refurb/sale/etc accepted) More rules and details below Soooo I don't have a huge amount of money to pick up my planned PC and the situation just turned critical as my laptop just died after 5 years of loyal service and I'm am reduced to my iPad... This was my planned build when buying new parts as I figured I had some more. Time to save up me moneys, but I don't so here we are: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£180.99 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£41.99) Memory: Avexir Core series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£49.99) Storage: Sandisk Solid State Drive 64GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£33.54 @ Aria PC) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£37.99 @ Aria PC) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (£146.99 @ Novatech) Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Orange ATX Mid Tower Case (£57.50 @ Aria PC) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£38.87 @ Scan.co.uk) Total: £587.86 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-03-02 00:11 GMT+0000 The motherboard is sourced from here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-347-GI&groupid=595&catid=689 And the RAM is sourced from here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-078-AR&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 And I also have a buddy with a windows 7 disk and if that fails I'll grab the windows 10 technical release. Soooo, I need a relatively good CPU for 3D work/animating/rendering, video editing and Photoshop, etc. I need a relatively good, wallet-friendly, graphics card so to play most games at 1080p high settings. 8 Gigs of RAM is standard but doesn't have to be avexir, but must not just be a PCB. I would ideally have an SSD but that is not extremely nessascary and I need 1TB of storage for general work etc. I want a relatively reliable PSU cause it pays off in the long run and the efficiency rating will hopefully keep some components last slightly longer. However this is a wee bit (significantly) over what I have at the moment, so.... I live in the UK which has less 2nd tech shops, etc but I was wondering what discount/refurbed/2nd parts you can to drop the budget that are equivalent or better than the ones listed, without a good reason. Also has anyone else bought a b grade overclockers UK item? Are they reliable? And what do you think of the parts? Good luck -

Hello there, I'm going to hit Gilmore on Monday... my quest involves the search for an IDE to SATA bridge or an IDE USB dock and a new case speaker (that thing that beeps when you boot your machine)... but that's not important... There's a shop there that sells lots of 2nd hand monitors... I'll be heading there in search for a decent monitor to replace my main or my auxiliary monitor... Any brands and models that I should be on the lookout for? The monitors sold there are mostly from prebuilts in the C2Q to 2nd gen Core ix eras acquired via office equipment disposals... Thanks in advance.

G.Skill 2nd Hand or Corsair Vengeance
Flamin_Noonga posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey everyone, I'm making my first ever PC build with my friend (he's done multiple). I was going to get the Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory for $95 (au) but one of my other friends has just offered me his old G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory for $100. He bought them in 2011, used them for two years without any problems and then stopped using them (but he didn't have any troubles). My build as a whole is this - http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/1rIk9. I would like 16gb but it's not a neccessity. What do you guys think; the Corsair or the G.Skill? Thanks P.S. Feel free to comment on the build as a whole, I'm open to feedback, and all opinions would be appreciated.- 16 replies

So I was watching in some sites for used PC components, and I found a lot of good deals. And when I want to buy it, I tell that to my parents (because I'm not 18 yet..) and they say : "r u crazy? the seller doesn't say the real truth and you don't know what he was doing with it and you don't even know - maybe it's defective. DON'T DO DAT". And I'm not sure if that's true or not. The question is: Is it safe to buy used PC components? Thanks in advance

Hey guys. I'm thinking of getting a 2nd hand HTC One. Problem is, i'm a little worried that i might get the purple tint issue with the camera over time once i buy it. I need to know how many are really affected by this issue that i don't think HTC has any answers right now? It'd be better if i had a checklist of what to double-check before i make my purchase? ie. heating the phone up real good and check the camera(purple tint issue) Much thanks.
