Hello, I bought a macbook air 2011 11" basemodel (the 64gb SSD, i5 @1.6 and 2gb of ddr3). For some reason its super laggy. None of the animations are smooth, and it can't run basic things like YouTube without major stutters. its currently running Sierra, didn't fare much better in lion. There isn't a battery in it, ordered it online, currently plugged into wall. The computer seems mint to me. I saw videos on YouTube with the same one running sierra just 4gb of ram, and they were quite snappy. Also windows PC's with the same amount of ram run fine in windows 7. Any help? Thanks in advance. Also for some reason the ssd has only 20gb left, sierra takes 40gb??

So after watching Linus's video on the new cheap dell fliptop laptops, I was reminded of my own super cheap fliptop laptop that I bought for less than the Inspiration P25T. For a start the basic specs: 2GB of RAM (soldered to the MOB) Cherry trail Intel Atom x5-Z8300 32GB of flash storage Windows 10 64-bit 11.9 inch 1920x1080p IPS touch screen display!! And an 6-9 hour battery life IO: 1 USB 2.0 1 USB 3.0 (type A) 1 headphone/microphone jack combo 1 Micro SD card slot 1 Micro HDMI port (yes Micro HDMI, it's about the size of a micro USB plug) Now this is as you might imagine not the fastest, not meant for any sort of productivity and also has trouble displaying video at the fullHD 1080p. But it had and has a few more major problems and flaws. The first major problem is that it would give me a nice big BSOD 5-60min after booting up. This was fortunately later solved by updating the WiFi drivers... That nice 1080p display, which has decent viewing angles considering it's meant to be an IPS display, is nice but the laptop has trouble running a 1080p(30fps) youtube video even on a good day. Now here's the thing with this laptop. I paid a total of $350 NZD ($250 USD) and for what it is, to be honest it works well. It gets through 2 full school days on a single charge (provided it isn't used at home) and I have done some very light video editing in Sony Vegas, but that was stitching together 2 or 3 video clips with a bit of text on screen, and in terms of games well Sonic R for pc runs well and NFS underground 2 is a little choppy at times but playable. The main issue now is the 32GB flash storage as I tend to install this and that and so I upgraded the storage using a 32GB micro sd. And since people will want to know, I find the keyboard to be perfectly fine although I am a smaller than usual man, but the trackpad at that size and with horrible gesture detection is the still remaining big annoyance. But when compared to the Dell that Linus reviewed, my laptop seems to be much better value for what you get the only advantage the Dell has is in terms of RAM and storage, but it sounds like the 500GB isn't worth it. All in all the warehouse (the NZ equivalent of target or Best buy) seems to have somewhat better laptops for the price. And did I mention this laptop has 0 manufacturer labels, 0 brand names, and was marketed as "Windows 10 11.6 Inch Touch Screen Convertible Grey" which just inspires confidence in a buyer. I have an old MBA 11inch mid 2011 with 64gb ssd, 2gb ram and a 2nd gen i5 (dual core with ht). I have been debating wether I should get windows 10 for it (I have contacts to get cheaper oem versions). Now I'm surviving alright with MacOS (don't correct me, apple changed it from OSX), but it would be nice to have a consistent OS across my devices. I have access to 32bit and 64bit drivers for the MBA but they are windows 7 drivers. A 32bit os can save a bit more ram than the 64bit MacOS, but is there any downsides to that as well? What do you guys think? Shall I get windows 10 for this laptop or just stick with MacOS?

I broke out one of my favorite and most disastrous daily driver pc my $200 hp X2 2 in one and tried to get it cleaned out for my dad to use for spreadsheets and paperwork. What i forgot why I put this away all I remembered was it was a "good" tablet it had a cheap plastic feel to it and it had ridiculous keyboard flex but with a good docking mechanism. It also has great sounding loud front firing speakers(what drew me to it) so I thought no problem he's not going far with it and he's not going to be doing to heavy of a load. What I forgot about the intel X5 atom living in it that after I started it up after 3 months for over 20 minutes now of it trying to do updates or something with the cpu and disk pinned at 100% and its not winding down and I'm losing hope for this to be a answer to his problem it might end up with android or linux on it at this rate and now I'm remembering why I shelved it for a 13" laptop with a i5 16gb of ram and 980gb of ssd storage lol its still going while I write this. when I bought it I didn't have much cash so I was looking for a windows device that I could use as a laptop and a tablet with front facing speakers and this caught my eye on a clearance sale for $200. so I took it home did updates like all windows 10 computers it took forever and that should have been a sign but I carried on and it kept running out of storage on me was the most frustrating part even with a 64Gb micro sd card you can only off load some things and I was still running out of room. that along with some apps acting up on only 2Gb of ram I know that facebook never worked in the app on it drove me crazy balancing usages while I tried to work out in the field. at home I had a dell XPS 1820 (not portable don't care what they say) it had plenty of grunt most of the time so I didn't use the HP around the house much.it went on like this for a year and change when I said enough when I was trying to find my thumb drive one day for updates because I was tired of uninstalling things to do updates then reinstalling them and I gave up on it. just say no to low end specked computers its not worth it. slow cpus along with the lack of ram and storage ruined a possibly great 2 in 1 I loved the speakers connectivity and form factor but the hardware spec killed it..

Can someone help me with my 2 year old laptop..? Is it worth changing from HDD to SSD? Whether upgrading RAM helps? Suggest please...

Hello LTTF, I've got a laptop that has an on board ram T_T, its a lenovo 100s that i bought brand new but i've got one concern, everytime that i'm on idle its already using at least 50-69% of my memory. Should i downgrade to a older version of windows or should i stick to windows 10? Windows 10s is out of the question because i need apps such as adobe to be able to run while i'm doing design in school. and ubuntu is.....ehh I've tried it and it is not that appealing to me having to tweak the whole OS for 3-4 hours to make it usable and using shell and all that stuff. Basicly i managed to install runescape on my laptop, but it always crashes and usiually before it even loads properly. My laptop is a Asus eee 1080PC and i think the problem is the 2GB of un upgradable RAM in it, but the 2 core(4 threads) atom in it is probably another limiting factor for more reasons then the fact that it can only handle 2GB of DDR RAM.I have a total of 2.8GB of RAM if you count the viritual RAM too. So if anyone can help me here, only reson i want to play runescape is because i jokingly said i would and a coupple of people just took my serius and now they are waiting for me to connect and play with them thanks for any replies and any help

Hey guys I just wanna know If I can at least run 4gb of ram on my 32 bit OS (Windows 7 Ultimate) But my real plan is to buy 8gb of ram but I fear that it might not work properly Should I buy a 64 bit OS? Any Advice on cheap 64 bit windows OS???
