Building my first computer, but a lot of stuff I'm seeing from youtubers (and some forums) seem to contradict each other. So I'm hoping to get some guidance. I'm planning to run an i7-10700k or i9-10900k with little or no overclock, 4000-4400 MHz XMP ram, in a Pure Base 500DX case. For the AIO im mostly worried about performance, and after that how loud it is. How it looks/RGB doesn't really matter. 1: Assuming a CPU heavy load, a lot of people on Tom's Hardware say that for an i7 or i9 a liquid cooler is needed due to its 230-250 watt pre-overclocked ceiling. Is this generally considered the case? 2: Does a 280 & 360 Radiator perform about the same? Iv'e noticed that the Arctic Liquid Freezer II of both sizes cost about the same. 3: I've read to not skimp out of a good AIO. What price range should i be looking at? right now I'm leaning between $120-$150 4: How important is warranty? Id like my system to last a while, should i be aiming at a 5 year warranty or do most decent AIO last that long anyways? 5: Brands I should trust or avoid? Ive read some really bad things about Coolermaster and Thermaltake. 6: Does overclocked ram increase a processor's TDP? 7: Do mainstream AIO's all work on most of the z490 motherboards or should i choose the motherboard first? (I'm worried that Ryzen 5000 launch will empty the AIO market) Thankyou for any help! If its easier to redirect me somewhere else let me know :-)

Hi fellow LTT fans So I ran into a little obstacle while trying to service my R9 280 sapphire graphics card. (The warranty expired so... wanted to do a little thermal paste renewal). (link of the card, if needed: http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=C4D1B443-6105-4A63-85DE-1732CC9C443D&lang=eng ). So there I was unscrewing the four main screws on the center of the pcb, they are off, and ... cant find any more of them. The cooler/pipes are all still fixated and not budging, and there are no more visible screws that hold them to the pcb. Did not try to pry it open, or in any case force it off so it's all good. Searched some forums, and YT for answers and the closest I got was that some AMD cards are glued with some sort of silicon adhesive substance, and the only way to open it is to use some anti - adhesive sub..like WD - 40 spray. Witch I'm not very thrilled about. Do you guys have any exp with this matter, or some advice for me? Thx in advance Alex.

What are the pros and cons of each size (240 and 280 mm radiators)

Hello everyone, I want to ask a question a bit stupid I think... I have a front mounted rad with the 2 fans mounted on the outside in pull. (I meant PUSH, sorry). My Question is: Can I put a third fan on the red so that will be a push/pull but just for one fan? I'm 99% sure that it wouldn't be a problem to do that, but I'm asking you guys because I just want to know if someone ever did that because of "case-space" problems. The AIO is a H115i with the stock fans mounted and the one that I want to add is a ML140 PRO. If I forgot to mention something please tell me so I can complete this stupid "question". Thanks for your time and have a great day.

Hello, I have a ASRock X99E-ITX/ac motherboard with a 6900k on it, a RX480 strix (since I don't play that much) and a SFX 650W PSU. But most importantly a kraken x62, dual 14mm fan watercooling AIO. Now the system is running into the motherboard box. Do you know any itx case that could take this AIO and still take advantage of the SFX PSU? Even with a little modding? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Sooooo Struggle ver.1 was between liquid and air cooling. Now I want to know which aio is best performing. Was thinking about alphacool or cooler master masterliquid 240mm options Love the looks of fractal design S24. As well as potential for future expansion Though Im terrified of having such things in my pc, I run recovered nepton 240 ( my friend broke tubes and I replaced them) I do plan to buy FD define C case.

Hello Everyone, i was checking some videos and forums and begin to doubt my current AIO fan placement In my current configuration i have the fans between the radiator and the front plate of the Case, but I've seen that in some cases they put the fans inside the front part of the case. it will have any effect in the cooling? thanks in advance.

What's the smallest itx case that would fit a 280 and a 120 aio? Already have a Nano S, but it wastes space internally. Hardware in question is an EVGA 280 and a MSI Seahawk.

I just sell after 2 year good work, my Arctic liquid freezer 240. I'm looking for update my cooling. I realy like Be Quiet! So after doing a thorough clean of my pc after about 18 months (i know dont judge) I cant get my graphics card to give out a signal. Its about 3 1/2 years old now and I know its probably overdue an upgrade, but I love em ya know? Anyway, after this clean I plug everything back in properly, I've done it before many times, Its refuses to send a signal. I shouldn't be too surprised as this has happened twice before about a year ago, and I can't remember what I did to fix it. The fans start and whatnot so I'm not sure what to do. If you have any suggestions let me know and I'll give them a whirl. Much appreciated guys.

Well i just switched out my 280 for my friends old 5870 to see the performance difference , and when i switched it back after i can get no output from the graphics card. I switched it back and the 5870 still works. So i am lost if anyone has any tips or help, it would be greatly appricaited.
-
Ok now I have really run out of ideas, since i failed to get a display from my 280. Basically i switched it out for my friends old 5870 to test its performance, and when i switched it back i just could not get a display. i wiped the old drivers using DDU, but once i had done that i could not get it to even detect my graphics card was plugged in! Which sucks as I'm now stuck using the 5870, not a bad card just not a 280... Before anyone asks the monitor works, the cable works and the fans whir up and the connections are properly seated. If anyone has any ideas what to do next please help me by posting a comment.

Hey guys. This is my first post on the forum, and I have to say that I love this forum's design! I also LOVE LTT's videos. Anyway, I have an issue. (It's not really an issue, just a cosmetic obstacle that has put me in halt.) I can't find any backplates for my Video Card that are strictly for aesthetic purposes. I'm willing to spend about $40.00 USD if anyone can find me a link or shoot me a recommendation. It's a Sapphire Radeon R9 280 Dual-X. click here for the details I also need the cover to be black and white. Now I realize that nobody here is going to be able to make me a backplate; I'm just asking for a recommendation or a link to a page where I can order one that can ship to the US. Thanks, in advance, and have a wonderful day!

Hello, guys. I have this really weird glich in GTA 5 vanilla↓↓ Running Catalyst: 2015.0821.229.38003 With everything in Very high, and long shadows and detailed fly streaming ON in the advance settings, FXAA ON and MSAA X4, and Vsync OFF, running@1080. I've try switching the Shadow options from the AMD one to the "Softest" one settings. This is the only game I'm having issues, and my R9 280 is brand new, so... I doubt it's because of it. This has probably been done to death, so it should make it easy to answer :=) 1. I am going to install new drivers on my 280x and was wondering; what is the best way to do it? 2. I've read about a program with the acronym "DD" something (there was 3 letters but I don't remember the third one), what does it do and what do you think about it? Edit: DDU = Display Driver Uninstaller was the name of the program mentioned in the second question.

Hello, hoping someone can help me, I have been getting what I feel is weird performance on my computer on American and European truck simulator I get better Fps on GTA V on ultra than I do on truck sim at medium this seems really odd to me because I thought GTA V would be much more demanding than truck simulator. I tried this game on my laptop with an I5-4210m and a GTX 860m and got better FPS than my 4690k and R9 280 rig. Hope someone can help explain this to me! Thank you in advance.

Hi, guys! I'm a newbie to the PC master race , and I'm not entirely sure if this is an issue at all, or just the way is meant to run in my pc. The problem is that whenever I play Skyrim, and a go to a city/town, my FPS drops from 65/80 to 40/30 all of the sudden, this only happens from a high point of view. I'm running Vanilla at ultra with FXAA x4 @1080p My specs: FX6300 @stock AMD R9 280 Direct CU II @stock 8GB Ram Hyperx @1600 Windows 10 running from an HDD seagate barracuda 1TB Is this an issue or just my PC letting me down?

I want to build a gaming rig for my younger brother by Christmas, and am planning out what I want to go for. The only reason this is complex is because, well, I actually have a couple options lol. I have a R9 280 already lined up from a friend (who is upgrading to a 970 like me). I also plan on upgrading my case to a Obsidian 750d, and giving him my old case. Same goes for power supply, give him my 600B and upgrade to 750w semi-modular. The question is on processors. On Cragislist there is a guy parting out his rig, both an i5-2500k and MoBo for $150. I could go with that, or upgrade my own setup. 2500k to a 6600k. I could get it bundled - $350-$370 for CPU and MoBo. But according to what I've seen benchmarking, I might only see a fps increase of 10-20fps (only shown on cpu intensive games as well). I was planning someday on going sli 970s in the next bit, and upgrading cpus might kill my budget for that. Any suggestions? Amazing framerates are not the goal, but future-proofing is nice (I'd like it to last him a while). Please suggest anything, I got time to plan

Hi! I'm currently using a Cooler Master Storm Trooper and I would like to add a top radiator to my custom watercooling loop. Cooler Master said that the Nepton 280L cooler is compatible in this case. The clearance from the top of the case to the top of the motherboard standoff is 60mm. Fan mounts on the top of the case are slotted, but they are very short slots, but I'm not sure if radiators with 20mm spacing would fit (with all 8 screws). Also, the mounts are not offset. I don't want to cut the filter mounts on the top of the case so I would not be able to fit an extra set of fans on top of the case. I am planning to use Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000rpm PWM fans So, here are the radiators I have listed, Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis LS280 (312*140*29.7), 16FPI Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis GTS280 (312*153*29.7), 16FPI Magicool MC-RADI280 (323*145*29), 16mm fan spacing, 14FPI Koolance HX-CU1402V (316*140*29.2), 20mm fan spacing, 30FPI AlphaCool NexXxoS ST30 280 (319*144*30), 16FPI not sure about Swiftech MCR240-QP (315.6*145.6*30.6), 12FPI So, which of these radiators perform the best? and why?
