So my previous system was a ryzen 5 1400 with an gtx 1050ti 32gb G.skill CL16-18-18-18-38 and it was running at 3200Mhz on XMP on a b350 gaming pro. after putting in a RTX 3060Ti I had to replace the motherboard to an Aorus elite b450 because the PC was shutting down on heavy load due to GPU which the motherboard was not able to handle. After getting the new board within a few days the ethernet port was not working i didn't see this as a big issue so i went along as i had a wifi pcie adapter in here that supported 5Ghz network and my router is just a few feet away from it, Still i ordered a Pcie ethernet adapter... This is where the issue started... when i game if i had ethernet plugged in the PC would shut down, no BSOD, nothing.. just turns off... after this i started using wifi and that issue was never encountered. ram was running fine at 3200Mhz too. recently i upgraded to the ryzen 5 3600 THIS is were the real issue started i booted in and set XMP to 3200. First game PC just turned off. I put it back at 2133 and it was playing finr.. so i went and manually adjusted speed to 3200 and adjusted the voltage and timings myself and and ran memtest and it was fine so i went about using my pc as usual... i ran the pc whole night.. played a lot of apex matches, a lil fortnite and GTA 5 and about 24hrs later it again randomly shut down... i rebooted without changing ram speed back to 2133 and got back into apex and it shutdown immediately again(its a shut down not a reboot okay). i changed speed back to 2133 in bios put voltage to auto and it runs again. then again i set it back on 3200mhz.. again ran for about 12-15hrs doing multiple tasks. and again same thing happens out of nowhere it shut down. What could be causing this issue? Does it have something to do with the motherboard.. considering it showed previossimilar behavior with ethernet after the inbuilt ethernet port failed. Any help by you guys would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why Did I Do This?: The Avexir RAM I have in my rig had yellow and black heat sinks with yellow LEDs. The color scheme of my next build is white and black so I had to change this. While I can't remove the LEDs I can just small amounts of tape and aftermarket heat sinks to cover them. As the RAM doesn't seem to get above room temp, I am not worried about leaving them naked. However, the LEDs may cause a problem if they get too hot but I doubt they will. Here Are Some Images: First Stick, Two sicks, Graveyard shot, Final product, Back at home, Whats Next?: I expect to release the followup entry later this week or early next week depending on the delivery of the sinks. As for my other blogs, Smokey Attempts: The Red Mod and Smokey's Chronicles, I will be making small updates every day and I plan big ones for this weekend, early next week. Thank You :)
-
What Happened?: Heres what I did; powered down the PC, turned off PSU, held power button for 10secs, removed all RAM, removed RAM heatsinks, rebooted, duel BIOS repaired by corrupted BIOS, rebooted, boot failed, went into BIOS and changed RAM profile to 2134Mhz, rebooted, failed, rebooted with same settings, sucsess and RAM is at 2134MHz. Does anyone know what I could have done to cause this? And is it a sign of damaged components? Whats Next?: Two builds coming up soon that I will be blogging on and some updates to my other blogs, Smokey's Chronicles and Smokey Attempts: The Red Mod. Thank you :)

Recently i've had an issue where every time i make a change in bios (or just entering it and leaving without making any changes), the pc will repeatedly reboot then boot normally but without applying the changes i've made meaning that my ram is stcuk at 2133 mhz on a ryzen cpu. I don't know if it's a psu problem or a motherboard problem. I would be really thankful if someone had a solution to this problem. Many thanks. Build:-cpu: Ryzen 7 2700x -gpu: Gigabyte rx 590 8gb -motherboard: msi b450 gaming plus max -ram: Vengeance RGB PRO SL - 2 x 8 Go - DDR4 3600 MHz -psu: evga 850w 80+ bronze -storage: 1 1tb hard drive and 2 120gb and 240gb respectively ssds

I'm still running 8GB of DDR4 2133mhz and since its affecting my performance in multitasking and in games, I want to upgrade. I currently have one stick of Crucial CT8G4DFS8213.C8FDD1. It's not available anymore and I don't want to spend twice the price for a whole new set of 16GB. Are ram sticks with the same speed and capacity but different brand compatible and what performance loss is there to expect? If they are not compatible, is there a chance of finding different ram from a different brand that is compatible?

hi guys, i have my ram on A2,B2 and my ram is Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 (2x8GB) and my mb is Asrock Fatal1ty B450 GAMING K4 and i cant get my ram to go higher than 2133mhz, when i put higher than that it just boot loops and it eventually goes back to 2133mhz

Hi! I recently bought a stick of RAM (Kingston HyperX Impact 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 SDRAM SO-DIMM 260-pin) for my laptop (msi gp62mvr 7rf leopard pro) and I am wondering if I should mix the old 8gb 2133mhz CL16 ram with the new 2400mhz CL14 RAM or should I remove the 8gb stick and only have the 16gb stick in? I am aware that they will both run at the slowest speed (2133mhz) and therefore it would be a waste of money to get a 2400mhz stick. Which one is faster for gaming? 16gb 2400mhz or 24gb 2133mhz? I mainly use the laptop for gaming and usually have discord running in the background. I don't usually run any browsers in the background. Update: Apparently the original 8gb ram was supposed to run at 2400mhz, it was not giving me the option in Bios, so I took out the 16gb stick and enabled xmp for the old 8gb stick. Now I have all the 24gb of ram running at 2400mhz. Thank you.

Hey brains trust, first time poster here with a bit of a newbie question. I have a mid-range gaming/workstation pc I built a few years back after ryzen was released, nothing too fancy, just a Ryzen 7 1700x, GTX 1070 and 16gb of corsair lpx ddr4 3000mhz ram. Something for some medium to heavy level of gaming and some casual vfx rendering. I only just realised that after noticing a lack of speed and some lag in games that the ram i have installed is capped at the 2133mhz default, despite being 3000mhz speed. I've updated my bios, and played around with my d.o.c.p settings and have an option for it to run at 2993mhz, which is close enough, but once i make that change and restart, i get a lovely little bsod after about 5 minutes. I remember that there was some issue with memory post-launch for ryzen chips and their mobos, but i believe they've all been fixed with bios updates. could i be having an issue with the power? I'm super keen to get any info or pointers as to where i might be going wrong. full parts list: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/Endykits/saved/g4YbvK attached pic of cpuz for reference. Cheers, Liam

I'm currently planning to upgrade my pc from year 2016 to Ryzen 5 3600 + ASRock B450 GAMING ITX/AC AMD SOCKET AM4 motherboard. but the salesperson said that my current 8gb 2133mhz ram card (KINGSTON KVR21N15D8/8) is not supported. is this true? because from ASRock website, it states that the ram card type is supported. I dont know much so i wish to learn and know more to why it can, or cannot. thank you in advanced.

Need some help Oc'ing my ram to removing potential bottlenecks and in general just to learn a bit more about ram Ocing. Im 100% noob when it comes to ram, so id love some explination on what timeings mean what etc. the ram im using is Hyperx Fury CL14 2133mhz. my target frequenzy is 3200mhz. i did find one guy that had oc'd his cl14 2133mhz to 3200mhz. but the post he made was some time ago, and not enough explanatory for me to follow into "copying settings" heres a link: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3093043/hyperx-fury-ddr4-2133-question.html should be one of the first posts.

Hi! I i have a question for you guys! I was thinking of upgrading my system, but after reading a bit online, i think i can stick with cpu å bit longer. Im running: MSI x99a gaming 7 motherboard I7-5820k at 4.5ghz stable with 1.29v. Asus GTX-1080 Ram: Crucial 4x4GB 2133MHz (PC4-17000) DDR4 CL15 SR Im having some low fps when comparing to benchmarks on Internet, on WoW and BF1 for example. Up to 20fps Lower. Is my ram or cpu bottlenecking? Will i get a noticeable benefit if i spend å fortune on http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-rgb-32gb-4-x-8gb-ddr4-dram-3000mhz-c15-memory-kit-cmr32gx4m4c3000c15 Thanks in advance for Answers. Any tip on better ram upgrades or other upgrades worth the investment is appreciated:)

Hey all, I have 8 Gb g skill ripjaws ram in my pc now running at 1600mhz, i checked the ram specifications when I bought it and it says it can go upto 2133mhz now my question is can I overclock just the ram without overclocking the cpu, my ram seems to be the bottle neck because when im playing games and alt tabbing to discord or my browser, it lags like hell. also i was checking frequency and stuff in the bios i can increase it upto 2400mhz and bclk only had 2 options 100:100 and 100:133 and auto, its set to auto but idk what the other 2 options mean. I only have 8GB so is it worth it to overclock or buy 2 more sticks. its ddr3 btw my motherboard is asus z97-k I think this is my memory stick: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231654&cm_re=gskill_ripjaws_ddr3_2133mhz-_-20-231-654-_-Product

Advice please. I have bought a part built Ryzen 1700 which only had options for 2133 MHz ram, I bought 32gb for video editing, Photoshop and Aftereffects as well as gaming. Do I need to replace the ram with 3200Mhz as I am now aware this has a large effect on the Ryzen CPU performance.

Hey guys, I'm about to build my first gaming pc. I got a budget of 1500 euro, and I'm planning to get an i5 6600K and a NVidia 1070 8GB for it. I want to buy 2x 8GB DDR4 memory for the system, but which brands are good? And which serie should I get then? The CPU and motherboard support up to 2133MHz. Would it be worth, buying 2400, 2600 or 3000MHz modules and changing the multiplier settings in the BIOS? Thnx in advance!

Hello everyone I have a Lenovo Ideapad Laptop with 4GB DDR4 2133Mhz soldered RAM, there is only one slot for the upgrade, can I pair it with a 2400Mhz CL17 RAM? because I cant find 2133Mhz RAM, please help!

My Corsair Vengeance LPX 2133 MHz is clocked way lower then it should, according to Userbenchmark. Does anyone know how to solve this, or is this normal, I already tried to enable A-XMP profile 2, don't know what the difference between 1 and 2 is though. Here's the link to the benchmark https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/18225908

I just build a new pc and I am doing the BIOS setting right now. I have 3200mhz RAM but it's showing as 2133mhz so I enabled XMP according to the instructions on forum. Under "XMP" it says 'Enabled' and also 'XMP DDR4-3200' which i assume ram is now changed from default 2133mhz to 3200mhz. However, the above section called "DRAM Status", it still shows as 'Corsair 16384MB 2133MHZ' for each of my 2 16GB RAM sticks. I attached the photo. Do i just ignore the "DRAM Status" RAM mhz numbers? Is my ram changed to 3200mhz or not yet? Thanks in advanced!

Okay so for a while now I've been using DDR4 2133mhz corsair memory (cheapest I could get back then a few years back pretty much). In about 2-3 weeks I'll upgrade my motherboard, cpu, graphics card, and now I'm wondering whether 2133mhz is enough for a 8700k/9700k with 1080 ti / 2080? I might reuse my old components, and then I'll ofc buy new ram for this pc, but I might also sell the stuff, in which case my old ram will barely give me any money back... Should I upgrade ram or stick with this?

I was looking for RAM memory to match the one that I already have (8GB 2133mhz L14) and I got this one, after installed the computer turned on but didn't show any image, so I needed to try more times, once I got working I checked Aida64 results and used its memory test, and that's when I discovered that this new RAM, aside from running at only 2000mhz (not 2133mhz as the old one) it is significantly slower on L2, have higher latency and have 2 rank (although I don't think it make any difference)... Should I send it back and ask for a refund or this won't make any difference? Old one: New one: And in dual channel:

Hey so i recently bought a computer that has ram running at 2400mhz, the stick that is in it is the one i got when i bught this prebuilt computer from Acer. and it came running that speed when i got it. I just bought two 8gb corsair vengeance 2400mhz sticks of ram, I am wondering if i should expect these to automatically run at the 2400mhz that is currently on there or if, i will need to find a way to enable it to run at the 2400 even thought my current factory installed ram is already running at 2400. Also if i do need to enable something my motherboard doesn't not support xmp (which i dont think would be needed cause im not overclocking what the system would allow, i just dont know if i have to manually tell the sytem to run at its full potential. if i for some reason do also, how would i do this is there something i can install for my acer, as it currently had a very basic bios page that from what i can tell doesnt let you edit anything. if i do need to do this is there a download i can do to enhance my bios options. however im hoping it will just auto run at 2400 as my current chip Thanks

Do I need better ram for BCLK increase?
BlueBreezer posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have a gigabyte z170x ud3 mobo with 2133Mhz DDR4 ram installed. I read that you could overclock non-k processors like the i5-6400 by increasing the base clock. Do I need higher freq ram to do this?
