So, I found a working fan to a hyper 212 evo the fan can only pull. Would it be worth puttin the second fan on my evo making it pull from the top and bottem

Hi Guys! Following your advice, I went for upgrading my PSU & CPU instead of getting an overkill GPU. Now, I made an error when running the numbers and ended up with a $300+ CPU and a $30 cooler (7700k & 212 EVO). I made a custom fan curve that goes like this: - 40% at 30° - 60% at 50° -100% at 70° I haven't overclocked just yet and when running Aida64, the max temp I got was 71°. However, would you consider that the fan curve might be optimized? Does anyone with a similar setup has similar temps? Also, what would be a good upgrade when it comes to cooling the CPU? Would you rather go with air or AIOS? Thanks in advance for your help, have a great day!

Hey everyone, I've looked all over the internet on this topic, and I have done everything I can to possibly fix this problem... Now I need help. I have an HP Pavilion 500-214 that I've upgraded to fit my needs. Specs: 8GB Kingston Hyper FuryX 1866mhz RAM EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SC EVGA 500w White PSU AMD A8-6500 APU at 3.7ghz FM2(Stock) Coolermaster hyper 212 Evo Cpu cooler MSI 2AE0 Mobo (Stock) 2TB Hard Disk Drive Optical Drive Stock Case Win 8.1 -------------------------------- My problem is this: I have been having constant problems with thermals on my APU. I've noticed that ever since putting in my GTX 660, I have been having a bit of a heat problem with my APU (At this point I didn't use any software to monitor temps and speeds, but noticed my game lagging a LOT) Though, the problem may have arisen before the GTX 660. Even being at idle, my APU wants to run at around 50-70C and has gotten as high as 91C while under load from CSGO. My GTX 660 has only gotten to around 50C while under load, which I think is fine. No matter how tight I get the Hyper 212 EVO to my APU with the grain of rice method used on it, (Artic mx-4 thermal paste) and get an even spread, I CANNOT get these readings down! My integrated graphics are disabled in BIOS, my fans are running at a decent speed (One on the back for exhaust, one on GTX 660, and one on 212 EVO), my case is open on the side panel, because (silly me) the cooler doesn't fit inside the case properly, and I have installed all the software I could possibly think of (Speccy, HWinfo, HWMonitor, Speedfan, AMD Overdrive) and they all read the same. I currently have a small fan pressed to the side of the open case, in hopes that it may drop some temps, but I am still only left with a -3C change. The lowest I have gotten so far within these past few weeks is 45C. I'm not sure whether to just keep using this setup and save money for a new MOBO, CPU, and case and just let this thing burn, or not. (This option wouldn't be my best option as I am in college and need to save money.) HELP MEEEE PLEEASE Thank you, Gyluss.

I currently have a 212 evo that works fine but want to spice up the look of my of a bit with an nzxt kraken AIO with the rgb infinity mirror cpu block. My pc already has a reasonable hum which I'm convinced is the 212 evo. My question is will a kraken be quieter or louder. (whichever one will fit in an nzxt phantom 530, preferably the biggest) My thinking is a larger one can have 2 larger fans than can spin slower and he quieter??

Hi. I recently upgraded to an i7 7700k and gave my brother my i7 4770k. We then noticed he was getting really high temperatures compared to what I was getting on the same settings and motherboard. We both have the exact same cooler master heatsinks but for some reason his is performing much worse than mine. the 7700k is at 4.7ghz and the 4770k is at 4.2ghz. I tried reapplying the thermal compound which made no difference so then I carried out tests and used aida64 stability tests for 5 minutes and then left them idling to get the min temperatures, then swapped heatsinks and done the same again and here's the results. Why is his performing worse than mine, does that make any sense?. Both coolers were bought at the same time around one year ago. EDIT: I also kept my own fan in my system for the test with his heatsink and vice versa.

So i've had my corsair carbide 200r but I plan on getting a new cpu cooler for my 7700k (and eventually upgrade the cpu to something else later this year). Would I have any problems fitting any of the water coolers in here and are any especially bad? I currently have a 212 evo but my cpu usually gets to hot for some games like AC Odessey or ghost recon breakpoint. Especially when streaming Full computer specs should be in signature or you can ask me and i'll update it.

Why did i do that? When looking for the 212 EVO AM4 upgrade kit,It's only available on the Cooler Master Europe website, And even though i live in Europe, the upgrade kit is usually out of stock and when it is in stock Cooler Master asked me to pay 34 Euro shipping even though the kit is sent from within Europe, That shipping alone costs as much as a new 212 EVO from within Europe,it should cost significantly more in countries outside Europe. How did i do that? I was inspired by this Imgur thread for a solution: https://imgur.com/a/ZPnEG I noticed he only modified the AM3/115X backplate to make the cooler fit,the rest of the the modifications are nice but not necessary. The first thing i did after that was to order an AM4 upgrade kit that has a backplate with holes in it,you can of course order the backplate it self that has holes if you can find one. I used the Noctua NM-AM4 L9aL9i,if you are intrested in what i used. Then the fun begins: 1.Use the AM3 instructions and parts until you get to the X-clip bracket except for the backplate (use the AM4 backplate with holes you bought). At this point it should look like this: 2.Apply thermal paste. 3.Now comes the tricky part, you need to position all the screws exactly in the middle, like the AM4 position in the image: This is tricky because the screws tend to slide and lock on either the AM3 or 115X positions. 4.mount the 212 EVO. 5.Align two screws diagonally, then screw them a tiny bit. 6.Repeat step 5 with the other 2 screws,it can be a little annoying due to the bracket tending to lock on either the AM3 or 115X positions. 7.Screw in a cross pattern. 6.Congrats you are done

Saw a 212 EVO on sale at my local PC store for $5 off.Should I go for it or the stock cooler would do fine. BTW im planning to use it on a 8400 so if anyone who used both, can someone give me temps? thanks

hi everyone, I want to upgrade my system to a i7-8700k and i am wondering if my 212 evo that i bought in 2016 fits on a Z370? thanks in advance.

I have the 212 Evo and an 8700k and as you would expect it gets kinda noisy when my CPU is around 80-100% usage (as you would expect). I'm thinking of replacing the fans but I'm not sure whats best/even compatible I did have a spare cooler master case fan that I had spare but it wasn't compatible with the bracket. I'm not looking for extreme performance insane overclocks I would just like 2 quiet fans that look nice. and before anyone recommends me a bigger cooler see picture

I own a Cooler Master 212 EVO and am looking into using liquid metal for that sweet thermal conductivity. I'm doing research into this and it seems that liquid metal can do a lot of damage to your cooler. I would like to get some thermal grizzly conductonaut. Would this be safe for my cooler or will i see damage within a few weeks? Also is there any safer LM alternatives that still provide high performance with no chance to degrade either my cooler or CPU?

Hello everyone! I bought an used CM Hyper 212 evo and it came with no standoffs or screw, just the bracket, the fan and the back plate. I thought of buying them on the cooler master store, but I have to pay more than 10€ for shipping, so I'm going to 3d print them. If you have the same cooler than I do, can you please measure the stand-off size? Not the LGA 2011 version, just the regular ones included in the fan box. I will attach an image in case that you don't know what do I mean, they are the letter C on the Hyper 212 evo manual. They have a m3 thread, I just need to know the tall base, the tall thread and the wrench sizing. Thank you all for reading!

Which one of these two is the best? Mainly looking for noise and temperature, not so much aesthetics. Thanks.

I was wondering if the cooler master family of heatsinks have a interchangable system of brackets as I recently aquired a Cooler Master V8 (non-gts) but it has no brackets. I was thinking of buying a Hyper 212 Evo and switching the brackets but alas I would like to know if the mounting is the same. Thank you for any answers you can give to a rather new member of the pc building family.

Hey, so I'm using a Hyper 212 EVO cooler for my 8700k which i didn't overclock. I ran Aida64 again after around 3 months after I bulilt my PC and at 2 minutes of stress testing, i stopped it beacuse it was reaching 87-95°C... The first time I built it and ran it was getting around 85°C max on 1 core... I'm really worried about it getting overheated and wrecked if I don't upgrade soon... Would a h100i v2 be a lot better or what should I do to improve? (Besides a noctua cooler that takes over the whole space haha)

Hello, I currently have quite an old cooler master case that i got when i first made my 2500k pc. No side panel Looking for something now (on the cheap side) to fit everything i have in it but with a side panel. Needs to fit: 980ti g1 gaming 2 hdd 1 ssd Hyper 212x cooler Thats what my limitations are right now. I would prefer budget options as after my recent upgrade to 980ti I don't have much cash left over. Thanks in advance, Alex

Hello guys, I have just watched Awesome Sauce network's video on the Hyper 212X and he said something that made me worry about what I have... His test bench is running a 5960X oc'ed to 4.4 GHz and he got max 65 C with a 212 EVO and lets you hear what it sounds like during the benchmark. However, I have a core i7-2600 non K that I pushed to the max multiplier of 42 which gives me 4.2 GHz and with the fans at the same noise range, I get in average 70C on the CPU. Why is that? I know he has an open test bench and I have a closed system however 2 exhaust fans right above the cooler but this doesn't account for 5 C does it? And even if it does, does this mean that my 2nd gen i7 is as thermally efficient as a 5th gen i7 with double the cores? I have tried several times cleaning the base of the cooler as best I could, dusting the hell out of it and cleaning my fan but no matter what I do, the temperatures are the same. This time I actually got lucky because cleaning the thing really well made the temps fall from 73-74C average to 70C but what the hell? I promise I can't make my cooler any cleaner. And I'm using Arctic Silver 5 with the line method which is as Luke showed in a workshop video, as effective as the X or pea methods. I also noticed that my CPU apparently went up to 4.33 GHz but that might have been polling error or for a split second. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what may be happening?

Hi, I have 4690k and Hyper 212 Evo. I want to know what kind of temperatures will be safe and how much of an overclock I will be getting. I tried 4.4 GHz overclock and then I started stress testing with Prime 95, but the temperatures got way more than the 72C mark that is recommended in Intel's website. Intel's page about the i5-4690k By the way the ambient temperature is 25C to 27C and I dont remember which version of Prime 95 I used, but I know there is some version that is good for tests and others that just increase CPU temperature a lot and are not viable.

Currently have a CM 212 Evo, highest stable oc is 4.37GHz. Managed to get up to 4.8GHz once, but that was like a really cold day, don't remember what the temp was. Anyway the system boots into the desktop and I had to do something so I just left it there for like a while. Came back and it's still on the desktop, so I fired up CineBench R15, to see how well it goes. Bsod and system crashes. Every other time I've tried it, it will never boot into desktop or just bsod during the spinning logo, but on that day it did. so will a better cpu cooler than my 212 evo, help me get the cpu stable at 4.8GHz or maybe even reach 5GHz? Also is there a complete detail guide on how to oc for x99? Last time I've oc was on 775, so I basically missed out on a lot of oc stuffs. Tried to catch up on it, by reading oc guides here and there on the web, but they seem to just provide bits of info, instead of the whole picture. So any complete guide is greatly appreciated. CPU is a Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz, turbos to 3.8GHz

I already own a V8 so this is not comparing price because there would be no point to that. Does the evo at its lower price offer any increase in performance. It doesn't seem like it would but so many people love it so I'm confused. Basically: What is the raw performance difference?

Hi there! First off I just wanted to say that I hope I placed this post in the right topic! If not them I'm sorry! Alrighty so I have been trying to tamper with controlling my fans because they are crazy loud! My 120mm exhaust fan rolls @ about 1900 rpm when my computer is idiling which can be quite frustrating. I downloaded speed fan, but I'm hopelessly lost on how to set the fan speeds. So here are my questions. Is there an easier program to use that is very user friendly? Is there a way to make profiles that you can use depending on what your doing such as a idle profile, browsing, profile, and gaming profile? Any links to youtube videos that make it easier to understand what's going on so you don't have to write out long instructions? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Have a great day!

I have a Intel Core i5 4590 with the stock intel cooler on it. Currently, the stock cooler is very loud and annoying, but it is able to keep my CPU at 40c on idle. If I buy I hyper 212 evo will the noise level go down a lot or will it be the same with lower temps. As long as idle temps are 45c and under I don't care, but I just want a quieter CPU cooler for $25. Will the 212 evo be much quieter?
