New to LTT forums so I hope this is the right place to ask. In HWInfo, my normal "GPU Temperature" is usually fine, maxing out at 70C, but my hotspot temp consistently gets to 90-95 under moderate load, and playing intensive games like Cyberpunk can bring it up to 105 or so. I've tried opening up my case and pointing a fan on full-blast at it to see if it was just an airflow issue, but that only decreased temps by 2-5C. I've also tried some of the basics like updating drivers and dusting my card with compressed air. The only thing left I can think of is to repaste, but I'm not an expert at this stuff and I don't want to ruin my graphics card in the middle of an already busy semester. In case it matters, my card is the MSI Ventus XS OC 2080 Super.

Hey everyone, I have a problem with my Asus ROG Strix 2080 Super ("ROG-STRIX-RTX2080S-O8G-GAMING"). For a while now, I'm unable to, for example, play a game (Destiny 2, GTA 5, Elite Dangerous,...) and watch a video (mostly Youtube) at the same time. The video just loads/stutters/stops/is unwatchable. I've noticed in HWInfo that in those situations the GPU temperature is around 65-70°C but the GPU-hotspot temperature is always around 105°C and the card is thermal throttling. Even when just having Chrome and HWInfo open right now, there is a difference of about 20°C. From what I've read a ~20-40°C difference between average and hotspot can't be good. I haven't OCd the card or changed anything besides a more aggressive fan curve. My first step then was to clean the card as good as possible and adjust the fan curves, but with no result. Now my second step was to go to a small PC repair shop nearby to have the thermal pads + -paste renewed (I know I could've done it myself, but I didn't want any chance of damaging the card). I just got the card back from them, but the card is only 2°C cooler (both average and hotspot) than before. That leads me to believe that either the paste wasn't the problem and I just wasted 30€ or I was ripped off and they didn't do anything. This can't be the normal behaviour of the card, is it? At least that's not what I'm expecting from a XX80-level GPU. My problems are therefore: I can't play a game and watch a video at the same time and the difference between avg. temp. and hotspot temp. is too big/the hotspot gets too hot. System specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Memory: 32GB DDR4-3600 GPU: Asus ROG Strix 2080 Super (currently using Nvidia "Game Ready" Driver 535.98, although I also had the problem with earlier drivers) PSU: Corsair RM 750X (750W 80+Gold) Case: BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 rev. 2 Windows 10 64-bit (21H1) 1 * 2560x1440@165Hz + 2 * 1920x1080@60Hz screens What else can I do? Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone, So, I updated my rig 2 years ago and have been using it since, no issues no problems. I currently have a 2080S water-cooled GPU in my system, hooked upto my custom loop; but I’ve thought of going back to just air cooled instead of using the water loop. The GPU I bought had a pre-installed loop on it https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Waterforce-WB-Pre-Installed-Gv-N208SAORUS/dp/B07VRKWMZV this is the card above ^. Is there any way / can I convert this card to an air-cooled GPU instead? Weighing my options with this current shortage, trying to get my hands on either a 3070/70ti or 3080/80ti to upgrade but I know I am not getting that at a reasonable price anytime soon. Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks guys!

Hello I am having trouble with my GPU, I am getting Artifacting sometimes on windows while booting, or even just watching YouTube video. The gpu reaches 100% usage whenever there is a tab opened. And at times it will stop displaying video until I restart the system. I've: Reapplied thermal paste, cleaned the card a bit with rubbing alcohol, reinstalled drivers (they used to say error 43 but recently not) I've reinstalled windows (had some wonky windows issues too when I just transfered m.2) There are repair shops nearby that I am thinking of going to and try to call.

So currently I have a Ryzen 7 3700x, 2080 Super, and 32 gigs of ram. I am looking to upgrade my CPU possibly to the new Ryzen 9 5900x when it drops and my graphics sometime next year. Out of curiosity, mainly for gaming, Will I notice any performance increase by upgrading my CPU? I know that my 2080 super will be a bottle neck for faster CPU's, I just want to know if there will be any kind of increase even if its small, or will my GPU hold me back?

So I was lucky and got hands on a very affordable ASUS GeForce RTX 2080S ROG Strix O8G Gaming. It cost me about 150$ less than usual and I know you might think what a bad time to buy a 2080S just when the new 30-series might be available in stores but in my country I usually have to wait for another month or two and the 3070 isn't even out yet so this could have lasted until December or something. (and a 3080 would be overkill because I'm playing 1080p) Soo... I just recently RMA'ed a 2070 Super also of ASUS ROG because it had immense coil whining. I talked with ASUS support and they told me it's the card and I should RMA it. I also just recently bought an ASUS ROG motherboard so that should not cause any problem at all. So I RMA'ed it and they gave me the money back because they didn't have any card aveilable... So I was stuck with my old GTX 1060 and really wanted a better card so I found this nice offer of about 700$. (yes I know it's still much but Switzerland usually has prices up to 950$ for a 2080 Super so I took the deal) But... As I opened the glass pane of the PC while it was running I heared a very very very silent coil whine from the 1060. I never heared it before when I was playing on it a while ago for several years but it was here now... Might have been here since the beginning but now I noticed it. So I got sceptical and started Minecraft with Shaders, stood to a wall and let the Frames spike to about 150FPS. I could hear the coil whine better now. Not comparable with the 2070 Super tho... This thing was blasting the noise right at my ears even with the glass pane on it. Now I kind of guess it could also be the PSU. I have a CoolerMaster MWE Bronze 650 and I also said that to the ASUS support but they didn't even consider it being the cause because the noise clearly comes from the graphics card and not from the PSU. But it kind of makes me wonder if maybe I should better upgrade to a ASUS ROG-STRIX-750G instead? It's a bit expensive but I'd do anything if the coil whine goes away. Now to my most important question: Can a PSU make permanent damage to a Graphics Card so that it has coil whine forever? I mean... I haven't installed the 2080 Super yet but I'd really like to. But if you guys think this could damage the card and then it whines forever after and I should better get an expensive PSU first then I should probably listen to you. Does anyone know more?

Hello everybody I have a RTX 2080 super from MSI and I was wondering if it’s normal to get around 63-50 FPS in GTA five With Settings on high? I just got this card today and I downloaded the newest driver for it and wanted to make sure everything was working right.

I bought a brand new ASUS ROG STRIX 2080 Super on 01/26/2020 on Amazon, delivered a few days later. I built a PC with all new components that functioned perfectly for about a month and a half. As of 03/19/2020 I began to have minor artifacting. I updated all drivers, removed and reseated my GPU and it seemed to fix the issue, however a few days later the artifacting began again. Now the artifacting has gotten worse and is permanent. I first submitted an online RMA with ASUS as of 03/23/2020 and have yet to even receive an email. On the support page the phone line and chat service for "Consumer Open Platform Component and ProArt Warranty Support" is lists as 'offline'. I use my PC for work and homework, I need it functioning ASAP. I can't get ahold of anyone at ASUS. Is this typical of their customer service or am I just incredibly unlucky to have this happen during this time of everything being closed for weeks?

Hi, I have i7 9700KF Rtx 2080s 8x2 DDR4 @3000mhz Asus Vg27aq Gsync compatible. I play most games with no issues at all, like TW Three Kingdoms، AC Odyssey, Overwatch, metro exedous, The division 2, Anno 1800. But on some games i get annoying stutter which sometimes make the game unplayable, like CoD BO4, MW, Company of Heroes 2, Two Point Hospital. I tried eveything, Clean windows install, OC and No OC, different ram slots, memtest, Uninstall and install again, DDU, lower the settings.. nothing works.

New PC built 2 months ago: -I7 9700k -Asus ROG Strix 2080 Super -Gigabyte Z390 UD A week ago my PC began to occasionally restart on its own. When it turned back on the main display (Omen X 25f 1080 @240hz) would be in a much lower resolution, sometimes 1024x768, sometimes 800x600. My secondary display (Samsung 1080 @ 60hz) doesn't display anything at all. I can't change the resolution at all and it won't detect the second monitor. I updated drivers and it seemed fine for a couple days but now the problem happens more frequently. All components are brand new. Am I unlucky and have a bad GPU or could it be something else?

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here to the forums and to pc gaming in general and have recently bought an Alienware Aurora r9 i9 9900k with rtx 2080 super. I play a lot of Fortnite but am noticing my GPU is only achieving 20% when I'm playing but I'm not achieving a steady 240 fps on medium settings. I've heard my gpu should be utilising 99-100%? In addition I downloaded a new Nvidia driver yesterday and it has made my frames even more inconsistent sometimes dropping to as low as 50. Can anyone shed some light on how I can achieve a higher utilisation on my gpu and anything I can do to fix it slightly? Thanks

Hey guys & gals, Looking into upgrading my current rtx 2060 to a 2080 super however i only have a 550W 80+ bronze PSU. I would plan on that being next upgrade after the GPU purchase, most likely to 750W 80+ gold. Would the 550W psu be sufficent to run a 2080 super or do I NEED to upgrade my psu first. 1. Budget & Location $1750-2000 USD 2. Aim Building the centerpiece of a new home office/home theater (hence the Blu-Ray Drive). Me: Researcher, lots of virtual meetings, Citrix Remote Desktop work, PDFs/Office Software, lots of Digital Photo Editing (and storage), Rarely Video Editing. SO: Teacher, will occasionally need to do music or video editing. Haven’t been a PC gamer in a decade because of work and school, but suddenly have the opportunity to build a sweet PC (see below). Prioritizing a clean look and quiet build over RBG (the AIO and Ram were picked because they were white, not because of the RGB). 3. Monitors Not needed, already have: 43” 4K UHD HDR Monitor (Acer ET 430K) 4. Peripherals Not really needed, already have a good mouse/keyboard/speakers. Will add a webcam/headset later. 5. Why are you upgrading? Currently working with a 2017 Macbook which is struggling to manage all the remote work that I have to do, especially driving the 4K monitor which is great for work/productivity. Also I have a $2000 technology stipend from work that will expire June 30th so it’s now or never. 6. Questions: I'm not particularly confident in my motherboard choice, especially concerning whether it will drive all the case's USB ports. (It was picked because it was all black to serve as a backdrop to the white parts.) What changes should I make to the build as listed, what upgrades should I plan for in the future? (Maybe swapping in some Silent Wing 3 fans in the future?) Anything I can do to make it cooler or quieter without breaking the bank? Budget & Location – 2000$ (8000 zł), Poland, Warsaw Aim – I want to build a pc that will work for me for the next 4 to 5 years without issue. I am not planning to OC, I want stability. My workload is mostly light weigh, web developing, some light blender usage, coding in python, debugging. Outside of work I play games mostly CK2, CIV, Witcher, WoW, GW2, New World some Overwatch. Time-wise it looks like this Work 40%/Games 30%/ Internet 30%. Monitors – Got 2, one 25 ultrawide (used for text), and one 27 144Hz as main. I will be getting one more later but for now this Is all. Peripherals – I got all I need at the moment Why are you upgrading – I have a chance to do it so why not. My current build is Intel I7 4790K Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mark 2 DDR3 4X8GB 1866 Kingston Furry GTX 1080 Funder Edition SSD 256GB PRO 850 SSD 500GB EVO 850 SSD 1000GB EVO 850 SSD 120GB V300 Corsair HX850i 850W Asus PCI-E AC68 WIFI PHANTEKS Enthoo Primo Ultimate It is water-cooled by two 480 radiators and 10 fans (8x120, 2x140). This PC sometimes works 24/7 and temps never go over 50 C, even under load. I am happy with it but as with everything there is time to end it. What I am planning to get is this AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER WindForce ASRock X570 PHANTOM GAMING 4 DDR4 2X16 2666 HyperX Fury 970 EVO Pro 512 GB M.2 2280 PCI-E x4 Gen3 NVMe What I am keeping from my old build SSD 256GB PRO 850 SSD 500GB EVO 850 SSD 1000GB EVO 850 SSD 120GB V300 Corsair HX850i 850W Asus PCI-E AC68 WIFI PHANTEKS Enthoo Primo Ultimate Are there any problems with this? If I want to keep the temps below 50 C, should I WC or can go the air road (no OC planning). Do you think I should change something? Thank you for you help P.S. I am sorry for my poor English

Hi everyone! First of all thanks for letting me join the group.. I have a bit of a dilemma.. I had a i7 3770 with a GTX 1070 and a CX650M PSU. Really worked well but I had to upgrade the processor as it was struggling a little, I went with a MSI B450 tomahawk max and new 3200mhz Corsair lpx ram (16gb) and a R5 2600x. I know the cpu maybe a little weak but at least I can upgrade it in the future when I can afford to. I sold my old pc bits and bought a Rx 5700 xt as it sounded like a good idea at the time and had nothing but issues. Black screen and red light on my motherboard so I send it back. In the meantime I sold my old GTX 1070 (MSI armour) I am awaiting my refund and decided I want to go back to Nvidia but I'm torn between buying the RTX 2070 super or the extra for the 2080 super. I always like playing on 1440p on the highest settings I can, my 1070 did do very well I have a 75hz monitor and for the most part I was getting above 60fps when the Rx 5700 xt worked I was very happy with it's performance. I am a little worried about my PSU tho.. I know the recommended is 650w for the 2080s and that's what I have but I don't know what's best to buy as I really can't afford a 2080s and a new PSU so do I.. Buy the 2080s and 650w will be fine or do I go with the 2070s and I'm prety sure my PSU is ok? I'm trying to get the maximum time out of my pc as it's took a lot to be able to upgrade it so don't think I'll be upgrading for a long while, maybe a better CPU in the future when the current 3000 series comes down in price a bit. Thanks for any advice I really appreciate it. I've watched several yt videos on the cards and apparently the 2080s is only about 10% faster but I'm guessing that it will be more future proof

I'm looking for an update but not a 30 series card. Right now I have a Gigabyte 1060 6GB and I am looking at a 2080 Super although I was wondering if I should just get the 2080 ti once the 30 series cards drop and everyone starts upgrading at the end of the year. Mainly I will be playing competitive siege on it at 165FPS, possibly streaming too. Additionally I have a concern about my PSU being enough as I have a 650w Antec and I am concerned about the 2080 ti pulling too much. My CPU is a Ryzen 9 3950x which is a beast on its own, but I just don't want to end up not being able to run the 2080ti with my PSU. I put my build into PC part picker and it said I would have enough power but I have seen the 2080 ti's pull more than what part picker says. Just want to be researched before I go spending a lot of money.

Hello Everyone, Hope you all are well and doing great. Just after some suggestion for a new Rig i am planning on to build for gaming. few things are fixed AMD CPU,2080 Super and X570(because of PCIE-4) CPU wise i am confused between 3600x and 2700X as there is less price difference. Motherboard: ASrock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3 Mini ITX ( only becuase of size) RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB 3200MHZ ( but can increase RAM if you think i might need more) GPU: 2080 Super .. but can you recommend which one ... as there are too many options) PSU: i will leave it with you to usggest, as i am not making a showcase PC ... so modular or non modular doesnt matter to me. Storage: 256gb m.2 ssd and 1TB hdd case: depends on above i guess?

Asus RTX 2080 Super, i7 9700k, HP Omen X 25f (1080p 240hz), 32G DDR4 RAM Several of my games seem to be capped at 30 fps but not all. Apex Legends runs at 240 with only a few settings turned down but Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice is stuck at 30 fps no matter what. A couple other games run just fine and several others seem to be capped at 30 fps also. I'm not the most PC savvy but I've read several other forums and can't find a solution.

So my 1080 ti died of some sort of weird smoking out incident 2 weeks ago, the shop said theyre gonna refund but ill basically get a giftcard in the worth of my buy (which would be around 850 Euros) So my question is, should i go for a 2080 S which would be around the same price or invest the 300 more for 2080 ti ? My specs currently are an i 7 8700k oc´d to 5Ghz with 16 gb of 3000 mhz ram on an Asus Z370 E gaming. Ive got both a 144hz 1440p monitor and 4k 60hz monitor which i switch according to if im playing competetive (mostly Siege) or a sight seeing title/ watching a movie/video.
