my MacBook M1 Pro 2021 was working completely fine this morning. Then eight hours later, when I opened it back up, it was just a black screen. Now, when I turned it off and turned it on... it just boots up with the Apple logo and nothing else shows.

I've had a CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i TKL for a minute now, it recently died to an unfortunate act of masculinity (opening a jar of sauce for my roommate) which resulted in a dead board. I'm chasing something similar to it in both aesthetics and features. I've had a look around and the Ducky One 2 TKL is a standout in my search so far, also the DURGOD TKL seems ok too although I have no experience with that brand. Essentials -TKL -Solid build quality (not rattly crap haha) -Black (minimal design) -Keys that actuate into the board board, not exposed on top of the body Bonus -Side printed/black top key caps

I was wondering if anyone knows what the issue I may be having. I can't seem to pinpoint why warzone itself is having issues for my system when every other game i'm able to play above 180 FPS on max or almost max setting on 1440p. TLDR of parts: (Full list below) CPU: 5900X RAM: 2x16GB 3600MHz CL16 GPU: RTX 3080 PSU: 750W / 1000W (tried both) Monitor: 240Hz 1440p Things to note/tried: - I have latest BIOS, chipset, & GPU drivers as on June 16, 2021 - PBO enabled - XMP enabled - PCIE x16 lane is set to GEN4 - GPU is on stock EVGA settings - Have tried with a 1000W PSU with no difference - Have repasted and reseated my CPU cooler - Have tried a Noctua NHD15 - I have reformatted Win10 & reinstalled drivers My issues: - I remember getting 150-180 fps on MAX 1440p settings during my first two months with both components back in Nov-Dec 2020. - Now I can barely get 100-120fps and medium settings at 1440p and I have to restart my game at least every other game or every game of warzone because my frames will dip below 80 fps. - I have tried ctrl+windows+shift+B which helps a little, but does not get me back to 120fps. - When DLSS was released to Warzone, I was getting 150-180 fps on quality settings, but turned it off due to optic issues found my JGOD, now the new DLSS fix gets me 110-150 fps, which I find very strange - I also have stuttering issues & packet loss (which I think is tied to me playing on wifi which I cant get around), the stuttering here n there, idk why it happens still Any help would be extremely appreciated. we could see mini-LED on MacBook Pro model, which are reportedly are being launched at the upcoming WWDC event, they will also feature a new design and colours (probably) and also ports and MagSafe are making a comeback, they will also have next generation Apple M series ARM CPU, (M1X). Quotes My thoughts This is very exciting news, I think the mini-LED is awesome(based on reviews I saw), the blacks are incredible, and also it prevents burn-in, which is a major concern with using OLED. Although Apple reportedly will use OLED for their iPad lineup next year according to some reports. Well, we all saw it coming... Google Photo infinite storage had to end some day, that day was las week and I am not paying for more cloud storage like most sensible people. I still haven't decided what to do but it will involve a home NAS, not now, but next year for sure. Meanwhile I have to keep storing my wife's and my photos somewhere, Google Photo will hold for sometime but I need to start getting in the habit of storing my photos and videos in one single place, possibly at home this time. I started re-considering iPhoto on MacOS, I have an old Mac with a time machine backup routine that will give me some peace of mind for the moment but it was a very long time ago I last used it. Getting to my point, how is iPhoto working these days? Last time I remember once I got my photos into iPhoto I could choose the Albums to sync, via iTunes, with my iPhone 3GS or iPod to take on the go but since iTunes lost its importance or got trashed altogether, I'm not informed, how do you keep your photos around in your iPhone right now? I'll point out the iPhone 4s was my last iPhone after I switched to Android but I'm considering returning to iPhones again for better integration with iPhoto. Thank you for your time.

Summary In 2021, Maxell Japan will be the first in the world to start mass production of a coin type sulfide based all-solid-state battery. This battery was developed in Japan, and implementation of manufacturing equipment for mass production started in October 2020, in Hyogo, Japan. The battery has a 20 year minimum performance stability, demonstrates superior performance from -50℃ (-58℉) to 125℃ (257℉), balances high input-output characteristics and high energy density despite its small size, and has strengthened supply capacity to meet sample requirements from various fields. Graphs and comparison charts in the links and attachments. Quotes My thoughts I'm hyped to see where this new technology takes us. From what I understand, longer lasting, safer batteries may mean useful developments in the medical field. I feel like the world is filled with things that need a power source, and I notice I've been more conscious about buying gadgets that I can plug in and charge opposed to "runs on AA" products. Trying to be conscious of my carbon footprint and all. Curious on future implementation of this battery and what that means for longevity and sustainability in our everyday powered products. It's been a year already, and it flew away so quickly. I'm excited about the future smartphones, especially the under display camera feature. There can be a lot of minor changes in 2021 smartphones what makes new designs and possibilities. It's strange to think about that one day the today phones will count as outdated. Happy new year to everyone! What do you guys think?

Summary After the absolutely massive 25 kg beast that was the Thermaltake Tower 900, in June last year the company announced its little brother: the Tower 100 mini-ITX case. At CES 2021 they have now revealed it. No pricing has been announced yet, but a release date of "end of January" for the US and Canada are mentioned. It will be available in black and white and takes up 463x266x266 mm on your desk. It focusses on a ''vertical design'', as they say, to reduce its footprint and help heat extraction through a chimney effect. Quotes My thoughts Personally I really liked the Tower 900, but after considering it for a bit it was just too large and heavy for me. This shrunk down version of it makes it a much more considerable option for people I think, although in some aspects such as available fan space it might be a tad too small or offer too little for its size. I love the big open view the three glass panels give, and it's the first time I have seen a vertical GPU mount this way. They claim its verticality will have a chimney effect in removing heat from the chassis and I'm inclined to believe it may actually hold some ground. It's refreshing to see a case where the tempered glass does not obstruct the exhaust like e.g. in my Corsair 570X. On that same note however I'm a little worried/confused where it will get its supply of fresh air from and I don't see this as a particularly attractive option for watercooling (something I really hoped for when I saw it). I hope to be surprised and to see some cool loops attempted with it thought! Any thoughts on this? Sources TechpowerUp AnandTech Thermaltake product page

Macbook M1 Pro 16inch interesting facts
Light-Yagami posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hello, this will be a quick list of interesting facts that someone who's still considering buying the 2021 MBP should probably know. Laptop in question is equipped with the unlocked version of M1 Pro (10 core CPU, 16 core GPU), 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD 1. 140W Apple charger will fast charge at 115W from 0% to 60% -ish, after that it drops of to 80W. When charged to 80% of higher, charging speeds reduce to just over 40W and continue to reduce to just 15W when above 90%. 2. Any off-brand 100W charger will be recognised as such, but won't charge at more than 80W. 3. With the included 140W charger, it takes roughly 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 60%, and another 80 minutes to charge from 60% to 100%. 4. Battery temperature rises above 40°C when fast charging, so I recommend using AlDente to pause charging when battery temp exceeds 35°C. 5. Fans do not spin under light loads (streaming video, document editing, web browsing), but do turn on at moderate loads and run @1400-1500rpm. You will not hear the fans run at this stage. 6. The system will let the CPU reach +95°C before it ramps up fans any higher than 1500rpm. It takes a sustained load at 50W SoC draw to force the fans into a range between 2400-2600rpm. You will hear a slight hum at that point, but only in a dead silent room. That means that you can push the system full blast and still be able to work at places like libraries without any issues. Even though the temperatures can be high, there's no thermal throttling to report of. 7. Average reported system power is around 7W, doing everyday stuff (screen at 250nits, streaming video). That allows for a pretty good battery life at 14 hours. Doing less intensive stuff like editing documents will drop that consumption down to 4-5W, which allows for a battery life at around 17h - confirmed by me. 8. M1 Pro consumes 50W when both GPU and CPU are pushed, 33W then only CPU is pushed and 25W when only GPU is pushed. I used Blender to confirm that. 100W charger will suffice for the M1 Pro, but M1 Max will drain the battery as well under heavy workloads, since it has around 80-90W SoC pull and over 100W system pull. 9. 16GB of RAM is actually more like 15GB that never gets fully utilised. MacOS swaps to the SSD early, at around 12GB of used space. The highest possible swapped memory is around 64GB, after which the system will crash. Usually, no more than 25GB of swap is recommended in order to maintain normal operation. MacOS uses around 6GB at all times, so that means at most 7-8GB of available RAM for anything you might do. After that, it's swapping to the SSD. If you use 3D modelling apps (with 16GB and 1TB ssd), expect around 10-15 SSD rewrites every year. Considering these SSDs can hold up to over 400 rewrites before showing bad sectors, I wouldn't worry about it too much. 10. When you leave the laptop to sleep, it will gradually consume it's battery, at a rate of about 4-6% per day. It's about 0.25W of power draw under sleep, which is really good, considering that all antennas are active to support the "find my mac" function. If you have any more questions, ask away Cheers- 1 reply
