  1. 1. Budget & Location $3200, Texas 2. Aim Gaming and Graphic Design. 3. Monitors Unsure. Budgeted separate, I'm between a x34 or a multi display set up. 4. Peripherals I need a mouse and keyboard, but they don't count against the budget. 5. Why are you upgrading? Replacing several year old, low end build. This will be my first "High-End" build and I'm having trouble not being a kid in a candy store. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/JRDPzM Thanks for any advice! Edit: Oh yeah and the plan is to later upgrade to 2 1080s.
  2. PC Proccessor: Intel Pentium G3258 Memory: 8 GB RAM (DDR3) Motherboard: Gigabyte H81M-D3H GPU: ATI Radeon RX 460 (Sapphire) 2GB Storage 1TB Seagate Monitor: LCD_TV x_x Goal: Right now I'm streaming League of Legends 30 FPS/720p, looks meh. Looking to upgrade that to 60FPS/1080p or 720p and run Runescape client on the background Also would like to just play games like GTA V, Assasian's Creed Origins etc. Question 1: What proccessor should i buy? (Price: 0-250€) I5-8400 - Looked really good, don't know much about processors tho. Question 2: If I want to buy I5-8400 do I need a new motherboard? If so, what motherboard? Question 3: What monitor should i buy? Played on a TV for a while and the input lag is killing me, what monitor should I buy? Would like ISP panel, 60Hz is fine, 24"-27" good ms and in a price range of 100-200€ LG 22" LCD 22EA53VQ-P - good? Question 4: Anything else you recommend for upgrading my PC?
  3. Hello i am thinking to buy a new laptop but i can't make decision! i'm stuck between Blade Razer 2017 and MacBook pro 15 inch 2016 i have now the MacBook Pro 2012: Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz Storage: 512G Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 and i really use the computer for alot of things!! i'm a graphic designer and i use all of adobe softwares and i'm a photographer so i deal a lot with RAW files and also i'm developer (IOS mostly and i'm used to mac terminal) and i'm a college student also, and sometimes i play video games. so this laptop is a PAIN in the ass and i really need a new strong laptop. i'm thinking of getting the blade razer 2017! it's true i'm not a real gamer but i think it's a powerful laptop and can suit me and for my old mac i can upgrade the RAM to 16GB and maybe use it for the designing things? the thing about macbook pro 2016 is that the RAM and the SSD are soldered to the logic board!! which make them un-upgradeable. and that's why i'm taking a step back and rethinking buying it. but i don't know i think it's so strong also and the mac quality is so good and the battery life is good too. Please help.

  5. Ok, so I'm about to head to my local store to cancel my order on the 8700k (for now). I'm gonna let it settle for a bit and have Intel have more stock and have the prices go down (maybe). The prices for the motherboards are bloody ridiculous along with the processor itself. rushed launch for sure. Aaaaaaanyways, back to the topic. I'm gonna be going for a Ryzen build for now but will go for the 8700k later down the road. Here's what I configured: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor (£184.95 @ Aria PC) CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-D15S 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler (£68.73 @ Eclipse Computers) Motherboard: Asus - PRIME X370-PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard (£135.72 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£148.79 @ Aria PC) Total: £538.19 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-10-06 11:47 BST+0100 I will be OCing to 4Ghz, but I'm not sure whether to go for a 1600 or 1600x... the price between them isn't that huge. Should I go for a B350 board instead since I won't be using SLI anyway? (I'm planning on having just a 1080Ti) Should I get the Ripjaws V or keep the Corsair Vengeance LPX? Thanks in advance, Sean.
  6. So, What do you think? Was PPAP the dankest meme ever? I think it was. Anyways wayyyyyy off topic. LOVE THIS COMMUNITY!

  10. Hi. I spend quite some time in Visual Studio 2017 with Resharper installed. I have a feeling that VS is not so multi-core optimized. Does anyone know if VS would work better on 10 or 12 or 16 cores compared to 8 or 6 or 4 cores? I mean not only compiling but IDE itself, including XAML designer and plugins. 7700K still rules in the world of single-threaded performance, even compared to 1800X. Which cpu is best suited for work in VS? Assuming I already have a fast SSD and RAM? Thanks!
  11. Before I get too much hate for posting about this, I know Apple hardware is greatly overpriced for what you get, but here is my delima. I have a discount of Apple hardware that will make the purchase much more affordable and I’m wondering if the extra price tag for the 3.1GHz I7 is worth considering, or is there a similarly speced laptop in this price range? For background the pricing I am looking at is for the 15 inch, 2017, 16GB, 512 SSD, Radeon Pro 560 4GB. The 2.9GB i7 will cost me $1,599 The 3.1GB i7 will cost me $1,749 I will be doing light video editing and maybe brief gaming, nothing intensive, mostly Starcraft/Starcraft 2. Also I already own a copy of Final Cut X
  12. Helolo! I have been trying to render using the Mercury Renderer OpenCL but for some odd reason the option to choose something is greyed out. It has selected Software Only but I want to use my RX 480 8GB to render....what do i do? P.S. I can select GPU in Media Encoder though....
  13. Hello! I had a Razer Kraken Chroma 7.1 and now i wanna buy a new one bcs this one is broken But i really don't know what to buy, i have a choice btw g933 and razer Man'Owar (i don't like the other ones..). But i feel like i will not be happy with those.. Do u guys maybe know a site where i can see upcoming headsets? I have like 100-200 euro i can spend for it. P.s: Sorry for my very bad english..
  14. This is the build that I'm planning for. My main purpose will be video editing and vfx (obviously gaming too). These are the components that I planned for: 1. Asus X99 Deluxe II Edition for LGA2011v3 - X-Series Socket MotherBoard 2. Intel Core i7 6800K 3. ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 (ROG STRIX-GTX1080-O8G-GAMING) 4. Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C14 Memory Kit (CMD32GX4M4A2400C14) 5. Corsair H100i v2 Hydro Series Dual 120mm Fan with RGB - 240mm Radiator Liquid Cooling Solution 6. Corsair HD Series HD120 RGB LED 120mm High Performance RGB LED PWM three fans with controller Three pack with controller (5 fans in total) 7. Corsair PSU HX1000i 8. Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SATA III Internal SSD 9. WD 2 TB SATA III Desktop Hard Drive (Black) 10. Corsair Graphite Series 760T Full-Tower Case Guys please give me your opinions on the build. I'm also planning for overclocking the system, so please do give your suggestions on the psu (whether its sufficient or not if later I add up another graphics card). Also if I need to make any changes please do let me know. I'll eagerly wait for your suggestions.
  15. So I really need help with this one. I've started a new build and needed to know if I should get a single titan xp or 2 1080 ti's? Money is not an issue I just hear that sli support can be a little wonkie. I'm going for 4k max( gaming only rig) so far I have: Roger strix x99 mobo Intel i7 6850k cpu 32gb ddr4 dominator platinum 1tb samsung 850 Evo ssd 1200 watt evga platinum psu Please help! Thanks!
  16. Hey guys and gals, I just recently backed the DAN case v2 on Kickfarter (don't usually do that but seemed reasonable for that product). So I'm gonna brace myself for winter and my case coming in early 2018. Until then I thought I would look out for some parts to put in there. The most difficult part for me was finding the motherboard that suits my needs. I have a dock for my Macbook for the "on-the-go-come-home-plugin" stuff which features thunderbolt 2. Since I dislike even more cables in my room I was planning to have thunderbolt 2 or thunderbolt 3 (with a dongle to thunderbolt 2) adapter. So naturally I would love to have thunderbolt 2 or 3 support. The only problem I have I can't find any motherboard that features that plus suits my other needs. My wishlist for the perfect mini ITX motherboard: -Thunderbolt 2/3 -Z170/Z270 chipset -2x M.2 slot -Bluetooth -USB 3.0 -Support for min. 16GB of DDR4 RAM Even more perfect, but absolutely irrelevant here: -preferably from Gigabyte, Asus, Asrock (for hackintoshability reasons -RGB, for the giggles -Wifi -black and white color scheme I know, I know big list of whishes here, which probably are not fullfillable. But my hopes are grand. And my eyes gaze into the future for some new tech that isn't for the ludacris chip pricings of the new intel lineup (if you are wondering about why I wouldn't like to give Ryzen a shot. I would! But the problem lies in the thunderbolt I guess plus hackintoshes are not yet very easy to do so on those chips since Apple doesn't use any AMD chips atm.) So any suggestions on my futher doing? Or suggestions of other nature? Thanks in advance! TL;DR: I need a mobo with a plethora of features. Are there any Z170 or Z270 mobos to come? Btw: If this doesn't belong here feel free to change the location of this post mods
  17. 18. Hello guys, I'm planing on building a new PC with i5 6400 and a RX 470 4GB. I want to know if you can still OC a i5 6400 with the right bios on a Z170 mb like ASRock Z170 X1 or ASRock Z170 Pro4S! If it's still possible and everything will be fine (I heard on G4400 it wont boot into the Windows anymore?) I'm gonna go ahead and pick up one of those boards and OC to 3.5GHz with the stock cooler untill I get a better cooler and try to hit 4.2GHz! But if it's not possible anymore, I'll be getting a H110M from MSI and a GTX 1060 6GB with that money instead! P.S. I know i5 6400 + GTX 1060 6GB will perform better in games but I'm planing on playing MMORPGs which is more CPU intensive so I want to have at least 4GHz instead of just 2.7GHz or 3.1GHz while boosted. And also that'll help me a few years from now when I'm gonna get a new GFX.
  19. Since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch will there be any point of getting a Nintendo 3DS (Latest version). Just curious on the subject as I sold my Nintendo DSI for £30. Not bad for 2 games and the portable console itself. If I remember correctly i watch a video of Etika streaming some new games for the 3DS so I guess it's still getting games. I don't wanna end up getting the DS and something better pops up. Bit late to the party, but oh well.

The laptop dock features: Webcam RGB keyboard 1080p 13.3" screen - Touchscreen mentioned as planned in Linus video Headphone jack 1x USB-C 1x USB-A ports Extra 200GB storage Internal battery to charge the phone and power itself It uses the phone's speakers instead of having its own and Razer has designed a custom Android launcher to make use of tablet mode in applications. Third party USB peripherals are supported. Hopefully we see an actual product out of this. I'd love for it to be able to be used on other phones apart from the Razer phone.
  23. Hi folks, I had a 2017 Razer Blade 14" sent in for a warranty repair, no big deal, great customer service as always. What I got back was a brand new laptop (no complaints here) and what I noticed is that the hardware inside is identical to the old machine as expected, but the chassis is entirely different. It's a deeper black, and there is actually somewhat of a metallic finish as opposed to a vanilla matte black. Does anyone know anything of these new chassis' on newer models?

The Ryzen chipsets can provide decent frame rates for mid range games like League of Legends or Overwatch. Since the higher-end CPU can reach 3.8GHz Marrying this performance with Snapdragon's X16 LTE modems means that laptops could be powerful enough for online gaming over cellular connections. This allows AMD and its partners to market and ship lower-performing Radeon RX 460-level products under the "RX 560" branding. Steam no longer accepts Bitcoin Source 1: posted by VegetableStu https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/870288-steam-no-longer-accepts-bitcoin/ Source 2: https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1464096684955433613 Yes, Steam did in fact accept Bitcoin as payment, but not anymore, due to high fees and volatility in the value of Bitcoin. When Steam first added Bitcoin as a method of payment, transaction fees were roughly $0.20. Now they’ve creeped as high as $20 per transaction. These fees are passed on to the consumer and result in unreasonably high costs for games The value of Bitcoin is only guaranteed for a certain period of time so if the transaction doesn’t complete within that window of time, then the amount of Bitcoin needed to cover the transaction can change. The normal solution is to either refund the original payment to the user, or ask the user to transfer additional funds to cover the remaining balance. In both these cases, the user is hit with the transaction fee again! Steam may re-evaluate accepting BTC at a later date. Google pulls YouTube from Amazon devices (again) Source 1: posted by davrosG6 https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/869948-google-is-pulling-youtube-from-amazon-devices-again/ Source 2: https://techcrunch.com/2017/12/05/google-is-pulling-youtube-from-echo-show-and-fire-tv-as-feud-with-amazon-continues/ Earlier this fall, Google pulled the YouTube app from Amazon’s Echo Show devices due to dissatisfaction with the implementation The app was missing subscriptions, related videos, commenting, sharing, and more But a few weeks ago, YouTube returned to Echo devices- but apparently without Google’s consent! Amazon had apparently built a work-around by implementing the web version of YouTube. This version was also built without Google’s input Google learned about it from the press, like everyone else The new version overlays voice controls on top of the experience, which Google claims is a violation of its Terms of Service Now, Youtube has been pulled from the Echo Show, and FireTV users have been warned that the app will disappear on January 1st. Is the removal temporary? “We’ve been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other’s products and services...But Amazon doesn’t carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn’t make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest’s latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and FireTV. We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon.” Mega Man X Games coming to modern platforms Source 1: posted by SlipperyPete https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/869840-mega-man-x-games-coming-to-pc-switch-ps4-and-xbox-one/ Source 2: https://kotaku.com/mega-man-x-collection-coming-to-ps4-xbox-one-switch-1820983270 Capcom has announced that all eight Mega Man X games are coming to current-gen platforms, including the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, in the summer of 2018. Mega Man X started on the Super Nintendo as a sort of soft-reboot for the classic 2D platforming series. The series spanned across the SNES, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2 before finally ending with Mega Man X8 in 2004. Mega Man Legacy Collections 1 and 2, which together include Mega Man 1 through 10, will come to Switch in 2018. Capcom also announced Mega Man 11 for current-gen platforms. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, PUNCH-OUT!! All of these games have been remastered in 1080p for the release. Super Mario Galaxy is planned for release, though we don’t know when. BUT we’ll likely never see these releases outside of China The Switch isn’t available in China so Nintendo is using the Shield as a foot in the door. It is possible that these games will come to the Switch through a virtual console though, as it has similar hardware to the Shield. 2018 iPhone Rumours Source 1: posted by RorzNZ https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/870622-2018-iphone-to-sport-61-display-and-new-colours/ Source 2: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/iphone-2018-lcd-metal-back-colors,news-26231.html edge to edge displays A model with a metallic back and an LCD display. The drone will hover over your head playing the loud music until you leave. T-Frend can take a pre-programmed flight across the office autonomously, using its sensors to navigate around walls and other obstacles. T-Rend also functions as a security drone, filming surveillance footage and storing the data on an SD card. The drone’s developers are also considering outfitting it with facial recognition technology to help spot burglars and other intruders after-hours. T-Frend is expected to be launched in April, with a target price of around $4,400 a month.
