Hi all, Im looking for some help on overclocking my threadripper 1950x system memory. Ill post relevant screen shot information on what i'm currently using and my parts list but any help would be greatly appreciated!! When i downloaded this gigabyte eassy tune application it only allows me to make changes to my system in this application. Inside my BIOS all voltages and other options are not able to be changed. I've had a ryzen threadripper 1950x with a 1080Ti for about 3 years now and after getting 50 fps in cyberpunk on lowest settings (and for future games ofc) i've decided want to upgrade to the RTX 3080. My 1950x is overclocked to 3.7Ghz all cores for about 1-2 months now (was base clock before that),so it shouldn't lose any performance for a while. Will it give me any bottlenecks if I get the 3080 (and maybe overclock it)? Because speed-wise, 3.7x16 is still decent even in today's standards, right? PSU is 1000W, so I should be fine on that regard. thanks.

Budget (including currency): € 3250,- Country: Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Solidworks, Blender, Unreal Engine, casual gaming (but I do like pretty graphics). Other details: Corsair Air 540, blu ray drive, Samsung Evo 970 1Tb and some WD 8TB (7200rpm) Upgrading from a AMD Threadripper 1950x with a 1080ti. No screen and such stuff needed, just the system. It's time to upgrade. What I'm expecting is faster renders and a much smoother Cyberpunk experience. Also want to try one of the PS4/5 ports. Maybe Final Fantasy or God of War. I also hope that the new system will cut loading times in Unreal Engine 5. Going from AMD to intel because the new Threadripper is soooooo expensive and intel seems to be the most bang for the buck with this budget. Will appreciate to hear if my thinking is right or wrong. Always keep learning My choices so far: CPU: Intel Core i9 13900KF Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 RAM: 32Gb G.Skill DDR5-6000 (2x 16Gb) <<Maybe I'll get 64Gb) Motherboad: MSI MAG B760 TOMAHAWK GPU: Zotac 4080 16Gb PSU: 1000w Be Quiet Straight power If the consensus is to spend a bit more to get a lot more power with a Threadripper, I have no problem to wait and save up a bit more.

This is a very specific, nitpicky question. I'm currently doing a substantial system upgrade from my gaming-focused system built (mostly) back in 2014 to a productivity/production focused one, with the central part being the 1950x. It's in the mail right now. Currently, my cooler is a H115i which I've had for about a year now. Whenever AIOs specifically for the TR4 socket become available, I have every intention of replacing the h115i with that. However, until then, the H115i will have to be the cooler for my 1950x. I'm aware that the H115i is compatible with threadripper. I'm aware that with enough thermal paste, it will be fine. But, from most of my searches online thus far, I havent been able to find someone who has actually put an h115i onto a 1950x. So my question: has someone done it? What kind of thermals should I expect (especially since I have no plans to overclock)?

Hello there everyone, it's my first post on the forums, after a few years of lurking. So I have built myself this PC for C4D work, Photoshop, video editing and occasional gaming: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X @ 3.8 GHz, 1.1825v ASRock X399 Taichi Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4, 2x16GB, 3000MHz, CL15, White (CMU32GX4M2C3000C15) NZXT Kraken X62, radiator on top, exhaust fans on the bottom NZXT H440 rev. 1 White Inno3D GTX 1080 iChiLL X3 (open-air style) 1x M.2 NVMe SSD (250GB Samsung 960 Evo), 2x SATA 6G SSDs, 2x SATA 6G HDDs Corsair RM850i PSU I've been having many thermal problems with this build. Is the Kraken X62 really not enough? The CPU idles out at about 42 *C and in load it runs at a staggering 74 *C (C4D rendering and AIDA64 stress test, both for about 1h, it does top out at 74), which I'm not comfortable with, as its 6 degrees over what AMD suggests. My ambient temp is usually 24-25 *C. Liquid temp. reported by the CAM software is 44-45 *C. I'll be glad as long as it meets the 68 *C limit and reaches 3000+ points in Cinebench, but it doesn't look like it'll happen. Onto the clocks. It's currently set at 3.8 GHz with a nice voltage of 1.1825 v on the vcore. Now I understand that the H440 is a bad case for airflow, and that the X62's coldplate is not designed for the size of a TR4 CPU, but should it be this bad? Steve from GN tested the X62 with the 1950X and the temps were surprisingly good, you can see the article here: LINK. The radiator is on the top and its fans are set to exahust. I also have 3 120mm intake fans in the front and 1 140mm on the back. Thermal compound is Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. So, about the RAM issue - first of all, my RAM is not on the QVL for my motherboard, but the XMP profile is read and applied correctly, so I thought this shouldn't be an problem. Funny thing is - the faster the memory frequency, the hotter the 1950X gets. But ALSO - the whole system behaves slightly laggy when the RAM is at a lower MHz, especially when memory is being heavily used. A BIOS update largely fixed this issue, but, for example, when a YouTube video starts to play, it seriously stutters and lags for a couple of seconds. Currently, I've found that the ad hoc sweet spot is at 2800 MHz. The RAM runs at 1.35 v, but downvolting it doesn't seem to impact my CPU temps. It runs in dual channel mode. What do you suggest me do? Stick to stock speeds, or even downclock the CPU? Try re-seating the CPU and reapplying the thermal paste? Reposition the radiator, turn it upside down, flip the fans the other way? Or maybe I should sell my current RAM kit, or sell my Kraken X62 in order to get something else, like the Enermax Liqtech TR4 360 (or even a custom loop), if I want decent temps in a H440? Taking off all panels and opening the window definitely helps to bring the temps down by a couple degrees, but what's the point of having an ugly, loud PC and a perpetually runny nose?

Was wondering anyone's thoughts on a 1950X in a Dual PC setup for live streaming as just an encoding machine and how it would preform quality wise would be great to see it in action bench marked into a video. All videos and most info seem to cover the 1 rig setup for live streaming and not for example a gaming rig with an i7 with a capture card in a dedicated stream PC running a thread ripper. Been debating for awhile about going to that route as I run a el gato HD60 pro in a Dell r710 server with dual Xeon quad core L5520 chips as an encoding rig, and my current rig that i game from rocks a 4930k and a MSI 1080. I'm just trying to reach for the sky here and climb to that 1080p goodness eye candy galore, maybe even play some games at 4k or 1440p and downscale. there's alot of ways to go about the dual PC setup but thoughts and some info would be great just another hardware enthusiast with dreams and memes - ♥ Sonny

Hi everyone, So I was reorganizing my pc build for early 2018, and came across AMD Threadripper 1950x, ive heard it can be great for streaming and playing games at high settings, but was wondering how it stacks up against the core i9 or the core i7-7700k. [Note I am fully aware the i7-7700k is incredibly less expensive than the 1950x, but im trying to figure out which one is best for playing and streaming at once, price is not a problem. Thanks.

Hey everyone, i'm planing on building this system later this month. Since it's my first ever build and my first Windows in more than ten years i would like to get some feedback! I'm planing to use it mostly for Rendering (CPU based: Keyshot, GPU based: Blender, After-Effects, etc). Video,Photo work and some CAD as well. A workstation mainly. Some gaming from time to time - but no focus on that. https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/WgtxzM CPU: AMD - Threadripper 1950X 3.4GHz 16-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair - H115i 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: MSI - X399 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX TR4 Motherboard Asus - ROG ZENITH EXTREME EATX TR4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory G.Skill - Trident Z 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3400 Memory Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO 1TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive Video Card: Zotac - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AMP! Extreme Video Card Case: Corsair - Carbide Quiet 600Q ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair - 860W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit I find it really hard to settle on the CPU cooling solution. I would love to have a corsair AIO for the TR4 socket. Since the H115i is working "okay" i think i might stick with it for the next couple of years until there will be maybe some more options on the market. Thought about the Nocuta solution - but there might be problems with the size - so the h115i it is. The Power supply should be enough. Im not really planing on putting in another 1080 at the moment. OC of the 1950x is not an focus for now. maybe later. just to get a little more power out of it. I opted for the 1080 and not the 1070 since im planing on buying a VR headset later this year as well. Mostly for Industrial Design application. So i thought a little more power on the GPU wouldn't hurt. Since its a workstation the case is a perfect fit. Hope the airflow is enough. The H500P from cooler master looks quite nice. But since the case is somewhere under the desk - the case really doesn't matter. Therefore an understated case like the 600q is preferred. The aesthetics of the parts don't really matter to me - since they wont be visible. Its more about the power. Let me know what you guys think!

All my parts have arrived for my (first) pc build. I have the msi x399 pro carbon motherboard and the 1950x threadripper. I'm currently testing the cooler which is a CoolerMaster MasterLiquid 240 which I had read was compatible with threadripper, however the instructions are not clear and i'm not sure which bracket I should use. Has aynone installed this cooler with threadripper? Am I able to use the mounting bracket that comes with threadripper? Or do I need to buy a separate bracket that is listed here: http://www.coolermaster.com/amd-tr4-ryzen-threadripper-compatability/en/

So I am looking to upgrade because my 3930k and GA-x79-UP4 finally called it quits. I work mainly with 3d animation, modeling, and rendering while streaming to Twitch. I've realized that AMDs new CPUs are perfect for this type of work load but am having a dilemma. I move around a lot so vanlife is very much a thing so power consumption and form factor are big a deciding factors. I am currently torn between the 1950X and the 1800X for various reasons. The 1800X though only having B3** matx mobos can still handle quite a work load for a significant amount less money, power draw, and take up less space. The 1950x is massive and only has ATX mobos and uses far more power but could easily handle the work load. My question is will i be able to do all these tasks on a 1800x on a non x2** board and should i seriously consider the TR despite my power and space constraints?

Original article: http://hexus.net/tech/news/cpu/107005-amd-ryzen-threadripper-1950x-16c32t-cpu-gets-geekbenched/ Read the article, now I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but the single core result looks too high for that clock (3.39GHz), whilst the multicore result looks too damn low for a 32-thread beast. This can't be real, can it? Or am I missing something here? Intro Now that the mainstream can get crazy core counts for not insane prices, I've been wanting to do a multi user system. A workstation by day, LAN party by night. I have 2 rx480s with copper blocks on them so far, I am in discussions to get a third. So I'm thinking, a 3 headed monster with a dedicated server? 4 cores and 16 gb of ram each, with lots of watercooling! I've narrowed down a few cases and designs, more to come on that later. But right now, things are coming in... Let's do this! First I must say a big thank you to AMD, Corsair, and V1Tech for sponsoring me with the cpu, motherboard, ram, case, powersupply, and custom aesthetic pieces. I had just upgraded to Ryzen and I must say if that's the a powerhouse, then threadripper is a monster! Just got my build done yesterday, but something must be wrong... even at "easy" OC on either gpu or cpu the temps are flying to the top! Does my build have too many bends and sharp turns? Or hmm, idk... I had i temporary loop while i was waiting for parts, that was one radiator for both cpu and gpu, and the system was much cooler than now. Posting some pic of new build and a pic of the temporary loop, and some temps, and a awsome drawing!

So I posted my Threadripper 1950x and X399 Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard on facebook market recently, and I got an offer from a buyer nearby. He offered me the following for the mentioned parts: i7 8700k CPU MSI z270 SLI Plus Mobo Coolermaster Masterliquid Lite 120 Gigabyte GTX 1070 Value-wise, it looks too good to be true especially with the graphics card just being dumped into it. I listed my parts online so I can buy a Ryzen 7 3700x since I don't do much multicore applications, but I believe an 8700k is doable. I have a 1080 ti, 32 gb ddr4 and a 850 W PSU. Should I do the trade or is this a no go?

New DAW build: i9 9900k or TR 1950x?
SavingPrincess posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Looking for anyone running either of these chips and hoping to hear some positives/regrets by going in either direction. If this isn't a good place for it, feel free to point me at some sort of audio hardware/DAW sub that I'm not aware of. Cheers and happy New Year! -
I guess to start things off, here is my build when I tried to post for the first time: CPU: AMD Threadripper 1950x CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-U14s TR4-SP3 GPU: ASUS - GeForce RTX 2080 8gb ROG Strix Gaming OC Motherboard: ASUS - ROG Strix X399-E Gaming EATX TR4 Memory: G. Skill Trident Z RGB 32gb (4x8gb) DDR4-3200 Storage: Samsung 970 EVO 500gb M.2-2280 PSU: EVGA - SuperNova 1000 P2 1000 W 80+ Platinum All of these parts were bought new and off of reputable venders which include Newegg, Outlet PC, Amazon, and B&H Photo and Video. I specifically chose the memory because it was on ASUS's QVL and I've seen it used on numerous other 1950x builds. First Attempt to Post: Everything installed on motherboard. No update on BIOS. When I first tried to boot it, the postcode display on the motherboard ran through some numbers before stopping on postcode D2, PCH Initialization Error. Tried restarting and got the some code. No display on monitor even though it's plugged into the graphics card. Second Attempt: GPU Taken Out. All Sticks of RAM Still Installed. No change. Postcode still D2. Third Attempt: Updated the BIOS to version 0808 via flashback button on the board. Postcode D2 remains. Fourth Attempt: Removed memory from DIMM slots B1, C1, and D1. Left memory in slot A1. GPU still not installed on motherboard. Reseated the CPU. Downgraded the BIOS to first release, 0304. Booted up and got postcode 55, Memory Not Installed. Unplugged everything from the power supply and walked away for a few minutes. Fifth Attempt Reseated memory and CPU. Installed antother stick of RAM in DIMM slot C1. Installed BIOS version 0402. Post code 79, CSM Initialization. Thought it was something good so I waited but it didn't move from that code. Tried rebooting like a couple more times but still no change. Sixth Attempt: Installed the newest version of BIOS, again, 0808. Reverted back to postcode D2. Seventh Attempt: Took out the stick of RAM and got postcode 55, Memory Not Installed. Eighth Attempt: Re-Installed everything back on the motherboard cause why not. Postcode D2. Still no display on the monitor. I am not sure where to go from here, or if there is anywhere else to go, but I have a feeling I might have to RMA the board. I tried to be detailed as but I may of missed something, please ask if you need more details. Any other ideas or suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
