Hello, I have a Lacie 324 monitor, it's 1920x1200 (16:10) but I'm unable to set it up properly: in the windows settings I only have the option for 1920x1080 and even if I try lower 16:10 resolutions the monitor won't go fullscreen but remain with black bars on the top and bottom. How can I use my monitor fullscreen and use my native resolution of 16:10? I've tried everything but I can't get the pc to recognize the monitor as 16:10. Thanks for the help in advance.

I have an hp L2335 monitor that belonged to my grandfather, it's from ~2005 and is a 16:10 1920x1200 monitor, for outputs it has composite, component, s-video, VGA, digital and analogue DVI, from what I have seen on the internet, it had an msrp of $1,699 in 2004, adjusted for inflation, would now cost $2,303 in today's money, the review I found for it lauded it for having a "super-smooth" and "extremely fast" response time of 16 ms, and in the summary, it says that it it plays games just as good as CRT monitors of the time. is a 16:10 aspect ratio 1920x1200 monitor suitable for gaming ? i have seem many youtube videos that when gaming on a 16:10 aspect ratio black bars appear on each side ! is it because games do not support that aspect ratio? i mean there are more pixels therefore a crisper image... or.....?!

As the title states, which one do you think would be better? I bought an HP Pavilion 27xi 1080p IPS monitor off craigslist or $100 and really like it. I don't think it's pixelated at all, might be because it's an IPS I don't know but it looks perfectly fine to me. A couple of days later I see a 28" Hannspree 1920x1200 monitor on craigslist for $30, so I picked that up as well. The guy said it had a problem with the on screen menu randomly popping up a couple times a day but he had a friend look at it and supposedly fix it. He said he tried it out for a couple of hours and it didn't have the problem, but he was selling it as is based on the fact that it might come back. Well I've had it for a couple of days and no issues with it whatsoever, I even debezeled it because the bezels are monstrously thick (even debezeled they are still thick, but it cut it down by half so it's better). I currently have them both setup running a dual monitor setup. I use eyefinity and play games at 3840x1200 resolution but you all know dual monitors are not ideal for gaming due to the bezel right in the middle of where you are looking. Assetto Corsa runs perfectly though and is very immersive at this resolution. My question is which monitor would you think is better? I browse the web a lot, watch a lot of movies, and game frequently. I'm not a super hardcore gamer, but I do quite a bit of gaming. I personally think the 27" hp looks better due to the ips panel, but the 28" is noticeably larger and has a higher resolution. The hp has a 7ms response time and I notice a lot of tearing, but it goes away when I overclock the monitor to 75hz from 60. The Hannspree will not overclock but with a 3ms TN panel, it doesn't have any problems with tearing. What do you guys think? Which one would you personally use if you had both? I've been playing AC: III recently and I noticed that in the Frontier my fps was dropping significantly (29 fps from around 45) due to this and the fact that I'm already running at lowest settings, I decided to turn down my resolution from 1920x1200 to 720p and my fps barely went up (to around 35 fps). Is there something wrong with this or is that just how it works? Also, I am running an MSI 7870.

So I accidentally knocked in to my screen earlier today and I damaged the panel itself. Such a component will very likely be more expencive to fix then to just get a new one, thus I'm looking for a replacement for my monitor. My old screen was an older Samsung model, its one of the business oriented models so it lacks the "bling" of the consumer models. This is a big plus in my book as I prefer a clean look in front of glossy paint. It is the Samsung Syncmaster 2443 with a resolution of 1920x1200 and it's 24" in size. For a new monitor I'm looking forsomething in the same size and resolution but preferably with an IPS panel. I'm also considering making the jump to a 2560x1440 screen as I find that would be my best bet if I want an improvement (that would be a 27" screen though). I have been looking at a lot screens but I will mention a few that I think fit my bill the best for now, if you know of any in the same price range or has any arguments agains them then that would be apreciated. I will most likely make the purchase as soon as possible, so speedy answers are apreciated. I would prefer a speedy answer as I have to use my compuer with an old CRT screen that I found and I really don't enjoy the old 1024x768 reslution. So far the Dell UltraSharp U2412M seems to be my best bet in a 24" screen, but I am unsertain if there are newer contestants on the market that can beat this one on price and quality. As for 2560x1440 monitors, it seems to be the AOC q2770Pqu and the PHILIPS 272C4QPJKAB that are reasonable priced. They do cost 1/3 more then the Dell screen so I'm unsure if it's worth it. As for 4k screens they would be double the price of the dell screen for the cheapest so they are way out of my budget. I would apreciate any input on this matter and if people advice me to look for other alternatives and wait for now, then I will do my best to postpone it when I look for better alternatives.

I currently have 2 20-inch 1680x1050 monitors which I have owned for over 4 years. I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to a higher-resolution monitor since 1680x1050 is still quite high and is a respectable resolution unlike 1024x768. Will there be a noticeable improvement in image quality? If so, should I get a 1080p monitor or a 1920x1200 monitor? What would be a good monitor for gaming/movies, preferably under $200 (the bigger the better).

TLDR down below. I've got an old HP f2304 which retailed for around $2,000 back in 2004, although this was handed down to me about 5 years ago. Pretty much the best LCD monitor out at the time back then. 1920x1200 resolution, IPS panel, VGA, DVI, S-Video, Composite/Component in, all with integrated speakers and PiP (nothing like playing a PS2 game while multitasking). It's been worlds better than most of the crap I've seen released in present time. The few issues I have with it become more and more of a problem as technology improves, mainly response time (motion blur) and black levels (CCFL backlight too). The motion blur makes text unreadable when in motion and the black levels cause blackened areas to look grey; causing me to not be able to see things in low-light areas as well as other people using more recent monitors, forcing me to up the gamma and wash everything out. However, there's two main issues that it currently has: 1) Electrical noise. Some component is showing its age and has started producing a high pitched noise. The noise varies from time to time, tone to tone and loudness to loudness. If I turn the monitor off the noise gets louder and even higher pitched, forcing me to unplug it every single time I want to keep it off. 2) Microstutter. Yes, the monitor causes the display to stutter. I couldn't for my life figure out why I had been experiencing what seemed like microstutter all this time. Eventually, I discovered the monitor exhibits stuttering which varies based on what Hz it's running. I found this out by actually installing Windows 7 (I have Vista) to troubleshoot this microstutter issue. 60Hz causes it to skip once every 2 seconds. 61Hz causes it to skip every 4 seconds. 62-63Hz causes it to skip 4 times a second. I had been running the monitor overclocked to 63Hz for months. When I tested under a new OS, I hadn't set my custom refresh rates, so it was defaulted to 60Hz. Obviously, this is a massive problem affecting the enjoyment of everything I look at while in motion, be it games or videos; they all skip. I'm now running at 61Hz so everything skips once every four seconds, and while that's worlds better than what it was before, it's still an issue and something I notice all the time. Now, here's the problem: I'm a picky bastard. I've actually been looking for a replacement monitor solely for the motion blur issue for 3 years now. I've sent e-mails to pretty much every monitor manufacturer requesting a 16:10 120Hz display and still none have hit the market. The last one was 1680x1050; a downgrade over my decade old 1920x1200. I want 120Hz (with Lightboost tweak), desperately. Motion blur is unbearable. I used to use a CRT (P1130) up until a few months after I received this monitor. It eventually got transitioned to old game duty (aka, XP install and CRT to run old games as intended) as my eyes were getting strained by it. Eventually, I swapped motherboards (broke my XP install) and by then I just couldn't stand looking at CRTs anymore, so I put it away in storage. Ever since then I've had to deal with horrible motion blur (and the whole vsync/tearing/input lag crap). I also need 16:10 as I routinely play old 4:3 games. 4:3 cannot scale well to 16:9. Comparing normal widely used resolutions: 1920x1200 can support 1600x1200; incredible scaling. 1920x1080 has to drop to 1280x960; a disaster. I also highly value the increased vertical space when doing anything not related to gaming; it is invaluable. (My favorite aspect ratio is 5:4; more vertical space than 4:3. Hell, it's basically exactly like the difference between 16:10 and 16:9.) So all this time spent waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Nothing's ever come to market. DVI-D had been capable of 120Hz@1920x1200 all this time.. but nothing. PLS came out, 144Hz came out (hell even '240Hz' displays are on the market), 21:9 aspect ratio is a thing (even 120Hz ones are going to be available?) and even 2560x1440 120Hz monitors exist. We're now at the transition to DisplayPort, 4K@60Hz and G-Sync FFS. Where the hell are the 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 120Hz monitors so many enthusiasts have been waiting for?! (Seriously, google 120Hz 16:10) So, I've come to a dilemma. I need a new monitor, ASAP. I've been looking through numerous articles, reviews, etc. My eyes can't stand it anymore (fatigue), so I've come to ask for help. TL;DR: What is, in your opinion, the best 16:10 monitor on the market in regards to gaming (ie; least input lag and fastest response times), but also with great color and black levels? Ideally, no PWM either, as eye strain is a problem. Have you seen any word on any 16:10 120Hz+ monitors over 1680x1050 in recent time? (CES for example) I just, can't take waiting anymore, it's killing me. If one so happens to come out shortly after I buy a monitor, I'll feel sad I spent the money, but also filled with glee that one finally exists. I debated caving in for a 120/144Hz display solely for gaming, but I really, really don't want to deal with swapping between two monitors. My current desk setup can't even fit two widescreen monitors on it side by side with speakers, let alone have any way to support an expensive stand I need to adjust every time I swap between games. Not to mention the fact that I can only use it for new widescreen supported (Hor+) games, not the plethora of old titles I still play every so often.. and the fact that'd be a TN panel with awful viewing angles.. It just isn't feasible. I'd really appreciate any feedback people can give. At the moment I just want to give up PCs and go on vacation for a year or something.

So I just got my GTX 770 today. I have three monitors 1x 1920x1200 which is my main gaming monitor in DVI 1x 1440x900 secondary monitor in DVI 1x terrible small tv thing that only runs at 30Hz in HDMI Anyways when I use the WIN + P shortcut to switch the display to computer it shows the default as the HDMI tv, when instead I want the gaming monitor. I have tried setting it as the main display in both the Nvidia multiple display setup and the adjust resolution setting on the control panel. The main reason for doing this is that I prefer to only have the main display on when playing certain games for varying reasons. I am willing to use external software to achieve this. Thanks, Rob.
