I've been having issues with my latest build being very slow and crashing only after about 5 minutes after logging on into my local Windows account. I've been getting the MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error a whole lot, along with other errors, and up to this point the system won't even post. It will turn on, idle for about 10 seconds, then restart indefinitely. So I've resorted to installing only 1 of the 2 sticks of RAM into 1 DIMM slot..... No more errors after that. These sticks are brand new, so there shouldn't be any cosmetic damage to either stick. What can I do to have both sticks of RAM being stable? I checked in the BIOS and they're both running at 1600MHz with 1.5V. (Not sure if I should've posted in the "Troubleshooting" thread.) Here's a list of all my components: Intel Core i7 4790k CPU Gigabyte Mini-ITX LGA 1150 Intel Z97N Motherboard 16 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600 RAM EVGA GTX 960 SSC ACX 2.0+ 1 TB WD Blue SSD 2 TB WD Black External HDD (SATA III - USB 3.0) STORAGE DUMP Silverstone 600W SFX Fully Modular PSU Silverstone Mini-ITX SFX Case ANY ADVICE WOULD BE A TREMENDOUS HELP!

Hello to the LinusTechTips community, I just upgraded my old rig (Biostar H77MU3, i5-3570, 8GB of Corsair DDR3 RAM (1600MHz) and a GTX 770) to a more powerful gaming rig. It evolved to an AsRock Z77 Extreme IV with an i7-3770k which is OC'ed (watercooled ofc) to 4x4.8GHz at 1.2vCore (Tmax on load = 70°C, yeah what lucky as chipset),16GB of 2400MHz GeiL Evo Corsa RAM and a GTX 1080. Everything works perfectly fine and I have some nice as FPS boost ingame. (Rainbow Six from 120-130fps to stable 250-280fps) The problem is, that I just recognized that the RAM is not running on its 2400MHz, it is running on 1600MHz. I checked the UEFI (newest version) and tried to load the 2400-XMP-Profile, but as soon as I try to exit and restart, the PC just crashes and instantly shuts down or is giving me the error code 55 via Dr.Debug which means that the RAM isn't connected. I googled and tried to change the RAM configuration manually to 2400 MHz with its voltage of 1.65v and set the timings, but it won't start either, just the same thing (restart-loop and crashes + error codes). Even if I try to OC it to 1800MHz (next stage of the list) the PC is crashing while startup. The RAM should work fine, it ran on even 2666 MHz on an ASRock Extreme VI Board (which is pretty much the same). The RAM's also in the mainboards' list of compatible RAM, is it my power supply (630+W Thermaltake) that is just not powerful enough to handle it? At the moment it is loaded with the stock JEDEC 1600 MHz (should be JEDEC #4 in CPU-Z). Is there anyone who's able to help me? PS: I added a CPU-Z image. Cheers, lezi

Hello everyone, I'm planning to upgrade my RAM memory. I currently have installed 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) DIMM modules. I have a Scythe Katana 4, and it interferes with 1 DIMM Slot (The one closer to the CPU Cooler). I want to know if Low Profile Corsair Vengeance (LP) 2x4GB, 1600MHz (CML8GX3M2A1600C9) Will do the trick, or I'll have to deal with the fact that I have to get a High-Profile-Compatible CPU Cooler and get another 2 DIMMs of CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9. Thanks.

So on 01/22/16 I bought 2x4Gb DDR3 1600Mhz Klevv Fit RAM Part# KM3F4GX2C for ~$32USD Then on 10/14/16 I bought the same RAM again for ~$44USD When I looked to buy it again to fill all six of my dimms, It was looked as it were discontinued. Wanting to fill the last two slots I purchased 2x4Gb DDR3 1600Mhz Klevv Neo RAM Part# KM3N4GX2C for ~$44 The Curious part is that in CPUZ, All six sticks have the same part#: IM34GU48C16-999HB All sticks are also running at the same speeds, timings, etc. TL;DR Klevv Fit 1600Mhz DDR3 seems to have been discontiued, but Klevv NEO 1600 DDR is the same exact part with a better heat spreader.

I have been trying to figure out how to fix this issue for the past two hours and I cannot find any helpful threads anywhere. I'm trying to install my two 4GB Kingston HyperX Savage DDR3 1600MHz chips but my PC just does not want to run with them. My old RAM chip runs at 1333MHz. My computer runs in three second intervals, turning itself on and off. Reverting back to the old memory works perfectly. There shouldn't be any comparability issues but just for clarification, here are my specs. Motherboard: ASUS H97 Pro-Gamer CPU: Intel Core i5 4590 RAM: 4GB Transcend DDR3 1333MHz which I'm upgrading to my two 4GB Kingston HyperX Savage DDR3 1600MHz, making a total of 8GB. Graphics card: ASUS GTX 960 I have made sure that I haven't made any trivial mistakes i.e. not having the chips seated correctly, cleared the DIMMs of dust, placed the chips in the correct slots (1st and 3rd/2nd and 4th), but nothing seems to work. I assume the problem lies in the BIOS where it is currently set to run with my old RAM with the frequency at 1333MHz. I cannot enable XMP either while the old RAM chip is inserted. I have already reset the CMOS and then re-inserted the new RAM chips. The computer continues to turn on and off at three second intervals. I cannot access the BIOS while the two new RAM chips are installed. Am I making some other mistake or forgetting to do something? Do I need to make changes in the AI Tweaker prior to inserting the new RAM or does the system automatically create settings which I can then change later? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

memory Which type of ram should I get?
TechnoBeaver posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
After having problems with the ram I'm using currently, I decided to send it back and purchase some new ram that'll work better with my current system. I went on Crucial and they confirmed that these 3 different kits would be compatible with my system. However, I don't know which one to get. I use my computer mainly for video editing and gaming, and also recording gameplay. Which one would work best for my situation? Thanks -
Hello, I am looking for the best kit of ddr3 1600MHz that is 8 GB and under $40. I want it to have 4+ stars on amazon and under $40 USD. I am looking at this: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-2x8GB-1600MHz/dp/B00J8E8YES/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1463440384&sr=1-5&keywords=ddr3+16gb Thanks in advance.

Hi, i have a 8gg of 800mhz memory and i want to add 8gg more. so is it possible to add 1600mhz to the 800mhz memory ? ( 8gg mhz + 8gg 1600mhz = 16gg ) Regards

I just built my PC with (2 x 4 GB) "HyperX Savage" 2400MHz DDR3 memory. However, in bios my memory is running at 1600MHz. Why? I believe my Athlon x4 860K is compatible with 2400MHz (not 100% sure). My moba is definitely compatible.

Before I say anything else, yes I do have 669 Mhz RAM which came free with my toaster. Anyways, I plan on upgrading to 1600 Mhz RAM, but how much of an impact will it have on my gaming performance? I play games like CS:GO, Killing Floor 2, and LoL. Will it bump up my fps a lot (like 10-20 frames) or just a measly 3 frames? Thanks.

DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Red 8GB (2x4GB) 2133MHz CL11 1.5V (older version) DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz CL9 1.5V (newer version) So the thing is that Vengeance pro costs like 4 dollars more than the old version and I'm not sure which one to choose. Technically the older version is faster but pro is newer. So which one to choose? And by the way my motherboard is asus h61m-e and in new egg it says "DDR3 2200(O.C.) / 2133(O.C.) / 2000(O.C.) / 1866(O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 / 1066 MHz" will I able to use 2133mhz at stock? Build quality is priority. Tell me everything that you know about these too models, it would help me a lot! EDIT: my processor is i3-2100 and it says this in the homepage, so is this a fail or what? I mean is this a waste of money if its more than 1333mhz? Memory Types DDR3 1066/1333 Thanks!!!!!

In my local store the 2400MHZ is actually cheaper than the 1600MHz, should i get the 2400MHz or the 1600MHz? I wondered because it seemed kind of strange - 1600MHz: https://www.komplett.no/corsair-vengeance-pro-ddr3-1600mhz-16gb/782913#!tab:reviews 2400MHz: https://www.komplett.no/corsair-vengeance-pro-ddr3-2400mhz-16gb/794946

I do not want to damage my hardware!

My newly built PC won't turn off when I try to shut it down. My monitor and essentials turn off but not the components nor fans turn off in my PC. Heard it might have something to do with the reused memory I have... I've only had it for 2 years but I maybe might have damaged it during installation. (?) (8GB DDR3 1600MHz) My windows 8.1 is having some issues. I thought this might be causing the weird shut down problem. I had windows installed on a HDD that I also moved from my old computer. But every now and then it tells me that my windows is already being used or something like that. (Probably thinks it belongs to my old computer, but I have no clue to be honest.) Last cause I can think of. During the building of my PC I had to reset the CMOS so I clicked on the CMOS reset button on my motherboard. http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z97-MPOWER-MAX-AC.html#hero-overview And now the reset CMOS button lights up blue when I boot and shut the PC off. I'm not sure if it did so before I clicked it. Maybe I have to unclick it or something? I'm obviously quite desperate for solutions as I want my PC to be perfect. Sorry for the rambling.

So I had the HyperX Genesis (2x4gb) 1600mhz kit and decided I needed more ram, so I bought a 16gb (2x4) HyperX Fury kit and decided to run them both. When I tried to boot (with the FURY sticks in the two primary slots) it couldn't. So I tried only with the fury and still no posting. Then tried the Genesis in slot 1 and 2 and the fury in 3 and 5. Low and behold, the damn thing starts. The bios recognizes that I have changed memory setup and I go into the bios to find that the ram is only at 1333mhz (while both kits are 1600mhz) What I'm taking from this is that the Fury kit can't run at 1600mhz with my processor. Specs: Mobo: MSI z87 G45 gaming CPU: i5 4670k @ stock Old ram: HyperX Genesis 8gb (2x4) 1600mhz New ram: HyperX Fury 16gb (2x8) 1600mhz OS: W7

Recently (today) I bought some 1600MHz Ram, 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance Gaming, and I was wondering about something. This ram is an upgrade from my old 1066MHz RAM (6GB from 3x2GB sticks). My motherboard supports 6 DDR3 slots. I'm sure my Mobo can handle higher than 1066MHz but my CPU cant (Xeon W3503 - sucks, I know). If I was to put my old 6GB of Ram into my system aswell as the new 16GB kit, to make it 22GB, would this cause any problems? Thank you in advance, Dylan L.
