I need direction in this post and with monitors. This is most likely on of the first ever forum post. I am nervous since I don't do this much and Linus may already have a video for this exact topic. Please forgive me if that is the case. I feel like I'm a pretty tech savvy person but I have no clue when it comes to monitors. I struggle to grasp what type of monitor should be used for what type of activity (Gaming, Video Editing, Graphic Art) I mostly would love to know what size is "most common" - Maybe specifically what size are most games designed for or programs are designed for. I also would love to know what are good options for each monitor size (I don't need cheapest I would just like great quality for the money. Top of the line is not interesting for me since I dont plan on breaking the bank)

I want a pair of new displays, 1440 or 4k, and I'll buy two of the same ones so that, hopefully, colors are the same, brightness, and all that jazz, with minimal adjustments needed on my end. Some help with finding or suggesting any that are Vesa certified. A pair of arm mounts that I have are rated for 75x75/100x100 and can carry up to 22 lbs/10kg. I would like to have OLED for that HDR and contrast, but I understand there is the possibility of burn-in and other nasties that can come with that. I still prefer it over everything else, but I hear that mini LED is also excellent, so I haven't done much looking into that if I am to be honest. I do plan on doing a split of content creation and gaming on them. I haven't given much thought about any curved displays, slightly just worried that there wouldn't be enough room for two of them plus my case as I will not put my case on the floor. I'm leaning towards 27", possibly, and have just been browsing through them, but just kind of don't have the reassurance just to pin one down.

I'm in the market for a new monitor. I was considering 1080p 240hz at 27 inches, but then I saw some comparison videos, this made me also consider 1440p 144hz. The only concerns for me is, whether 1440p gives a big performance hit. I have an i7-7700k, RTX 2070 and 16gb RAM. Will my system run demanding games fine at 1440p? I mainly play league of legends and fps games. But some games like monster hunter world and gta 5 are ones that I'm worried about performance dropping when switching to 1440p. Will I be able to run games smoothly at 1440p? or should I just stick to 1080p and get the 240hz.

Good day everyone. I'm currently looking for a good 27 inch 1440p 144hz and above IPS monitor and the following have caught my attention after doing intensive research. I'll probably use it for 80% games (Valo, LoL and some AAA games) and some work that requires good colors hence the IPS. I would love to hear about your thoughts for each and help this noob pick one 1. ASUS VG27AQL1A https://www.asus.com/Displays-Desktops/Monitors/TUF-Gaming/TUF-Gaming-VG27AQL1A/ I'm almost 100% sure to get this monitor based on the reviews I've seen but the one thing that buggers me is that it only has DP 1.2, hence cannot do 144hz + 10bit simultaneously. I wanna future proof my purchase so. . . will these factors matter? 2. LG 27GL850 https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27GL850-B-gaming-monitor I've seen Linus' review about this but the Asus one took over this by just a little (price is a bit of an issue). 3. MSI Optix MAG274QRF https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG274QRF/Overview Another one I'm considering as I've seen a lot of positive reviews with this monitor. My current setup rocks an ASUS VG259Q 24 inch 1080p 144hz panel using a GTX 970 (I know it needs to retire but its 2021 and yada yada yada will upgrade ASAP). I'm concerned about the over all value for the money I'll be spending. Any thoughts or other recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, So, i recently (7 days ago) moved to canada (toronto yaaay) and i brought with me my gaming pc: 2080 OC i9 9900k 16gb ram nvme ssd ... I had MSI mpg27cq So as my monitor was, well, a monitor! I couldnt bring it in a suitcase for obvious reasons. And i have 750 canadian rupies, so the thing is. I watched a lot of ltt (and other ppls) videos on 1440p monitors that are 144hz or more, but when i search for them, a monitor that they say is bang for the buck and "entry level" 300 dollars, is 650 CAD. USD to CAD is like 1.27 , so i suppose this is an availability issue. So i was wondering l, i need a case and a monitor for 750 cad, my case should be as small as possible (and able to fit atx motherboard and powersupply) cause i dont have a specific place to stay and im gonna be doing mostly airbnb after my quarantine to find a rental, and i need a 1440p 144hz+ gsync (or freesync that doesnt do screen flashes with nvidia) with no smearing and low g2gs also non TN panel monitor, and i feel for 600 dollars i should get at least HDRnt ? So what would you recommend that actually is available in toronto ? Thanks for your help in advance.

I have tried googling this and searching for an AVM switch that supports this on amazon and different manufacturer sites. Nothing explicitly states that 240 hz refresh rate is supported for a 2560x1440 monitor. I have seen AVM switches that support 240 hz refresh rates for different resolutions, and for 144 hz refresh rates for a 2560x1440 monitor, but not for the one I need. Does anyone know if such an AVM switch exists? Money is no object for me on this.

Hello, I just got my DP - HDMI 2.1 adapter but I can't get 4k 120Hz in the Nvidia control panel. The "PC" resolutions only get to 2560x1440 120Hz. It's strange because when I initially connected everything it was working, but the borders were cropped. I solved the borders problem, disconnected-reconnected a few times and now I can't find the 4k 120Hz resolution. Already restarted the PC, updated drivers, checked windows refresh rate, reconnected cable + adapter in various ways and . Adapter and cable shouldn't be a problem since I already managed to get 4k 120Hz, they are both hdmi 2.1 rated.

I have a HP Pavilion with a i7-6700HQ with Nvidia GeForce GTX 960m and im planing to buy a Samsung 4K LU32J590UQLXZX 32" for working and light graphic design as my main display (the laptop display i will turn off) but i have hdmi 1.4 so 4k just up to 30hz it works so should i use it for work 4k 30hz or maybe 1440 60hz but i read it will be worst than a native 1440 so my two questions are is 4k 30hz is it really that bad if just working like coding stuff and light photoshop? and 1440 60hz on a 4k monitor is really bad or just a little bad compare to native? (I just really want 4k and the one i found is the perfect size for my desk and want to watch movies 4k) Thanks you in advance!

TL;DR - Brand new to PC gaming, don’t know if my build is better for a 1080p or 1440p monitor and still have good FPS. So I’m going to be new to PC gaming and I’m trying to work out what will be best for me in a monitor based on the build that I have. I understand the basic pros and cons between 1080 and 1440, but I don’t know how much the difference in frames and clarity of image would differ in real terms. I’ve gone through a bunch of benchmarking videos, but I’m struggling to relate the information to actual need and performance. How often do you guys run games on ultra settings for example? I’m going to be using the PC purely for gaming. Any help would be awesome. CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: Radeon RX5600 XT 16GB RAM (2x8)

What setup takes more GPU power to run (on average)? 4k with average FPS of ~60 1440 with average FPS of ~144 Depending on the answer it may change the screen I choose as 4k screens are getting cheap now and I could see the benefit in both. I could be mistaken but I would expect that in slow games (like Civ) FPS is less important and with faster games (like CS:GO) FPS is more important. Either way I think this would be a cool video idea, what does the LTT form community think? Gram

The cards are both watercooled and I'm impartial on red vs green so which card is better? 1070 is $100 CAD more but double RAM and newer gen. Also heard 1070's are tech current 1440p champ but I am curious. https://www.amazon.ca/MSI-GTX-VRready-1070-Corsair/dp/B01GUAJMNE/ref=sr_1_76?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486598416&sr=1-76&keywords=gtx%2B1070&th=1 vs. https://www.amazon.ca/XFX-R9-FURY-4QFA-RADEON-FURY-DDR5/dp/B0106IJXX0/ref=sr_1_50?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486598006&sr=1-50&keywords=gtx+1070

Hello, So currently, things could not get any worse, I am running 1600 x 900 on a 19.3 Inch Monitor... yes you read that properly... and a Titan X. As I digress... I have decided its time for an upgrade. I am left with 2 options. 1440P 144HZ w/ Gsync @ 24 Inches 4K 60 HZ @ 24 Inches I only play Battlefield 1 and GTA V. -------------------------- I was reading you would not need AA at 4K on a 24inch screen, so I am pretty confident I could maintain a solid 60 at 4K and Ultra? I have heard mixed answers I was also watching videos and the Titan XP runs BF1 and Gta V around 100FPS on 1440P & 144hz on Ultra. -------------------------- I was wondering what should I choose? (I am torn between the two) TLDR: Thank You For Your Time, Any reply is greatly appreciated, With Regards,

Okay, so my friend is upgrading to another graphics card and he told me he could give me his two Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 970 4GBs (plus installation and that stuff) for $400 USD. He's only used it for about a year, so they're not in too bad condition. My only question is will this be able to run most games at 1440p 60hz? I currently only have a GTX 950 and need to upgrade, as I struggle to run games like Player Unknown's Battlegrounds at the lowest settings (1080p). I am going to upgrade to 1440p and if this doesn't meet my needs (pretty sure they're needs.... right?) then what should I go for? I'm not looking for anything over $500 and that's pushing it ( I have my eye on some used 980 ti's on eBay). By the way, my Processor is an AMD FX 8370 at base clock speeds.

I have a bit of a dilemma. I have an Acer Predator 24" 1440 (2k) monitor with G-Sync. Ideally I'd like to game at 2k and hit 60 fps+ on games like Witcher 3, DOOM and Dark Souls 3. My aging rig has the following: i5-3750k 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600 GTX 970 I'm not sure whether to get a 1070 or a 1080 to hit my requirements ...? Also, should I go in for a 7700k and a 270 chipset mobo? Or should I go with a Ryzen build? Ideally, I'd like to keep it within $800. Edit: I'm in the US. Also, in CA so I get hit with taxes from Amazon, Newegg, etc.

I mostly game all sorts of games. Here's a basic list of what I play, https://steamdb.info/calculator/76561198077186833/?cc=us. I currently have a r9 390 gpu and running on a AOC - G2460PF 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor. I'm planning doing another build with the rx580 and want to get the Acer - XR342CK 34.0" 3440x1440 75Hz Monitor. My question is, is it worth the sacrifice to go from 144hz to 75hz but an increase in resolution and 10" more bigger monitor?
-
I'm building a new rig soon and I've decided on an Asus GTX 1070 as my GPU. I'm wondering how long it will last as well as what its performance will be playing at 1440p, Medium gaming and recording at the same time. My Build: https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/yWxYYr Asus GTX 1070 1440p Recording Rough Gaming

I have just bought a 1440p ultrawide monitor for PC usage: gaming, work and everything in between. It's truly stunning for use on PC but I realised that this resolution is essentially 2x1080p meaning if you're going to display a 1080p resolution, the text gets disgustingly blurred, losing the sharpness of the text. This is disappointing for ancient tech such as the Xbox One and the Raspberry Pi that aren't capable of big boy resolutions. 1) Point being, is there anything I can do about this to make the text sharp again while using a 1080p resolution on a 1440p monitor? 2) Is this normal? I assume it is, it makes sense. It just didn't occur to me before. If nothing can be done, this new awesome monitor will unfortunately be getting sent back

Hey everyone, So as my monitor search continues, I'm finding my interest in an ultrawide setup to be somewhat limited due to the nature of 1. My current laptop's integrated GTX 960m (inspiron 7559) and 2. My budget. So I'm willing to stretch the budget a tad if I find something that shows immense value in it compared to other 1080p options, but I'm still being split between so many mixed messages regarding the capabilities of the 960m. So, with a definitive answer, can anyone tell me if I can comfortably run a 1440p ultrawide, or regular 16:9 1440p with my 960m for productivity and multimedia uses? If the answer is yes, could it also comfortably run other games like Skyrim or a racing game/flight sim here or there? Would the screen size make a difference, as in a larger screen having more pixels to push? Correct me if my understanding of resolution if incorrect. I have a quick 24" 1080p that gets the job done for FPS gaming, so I'll hold onto that for those uses. TL;DR: 1440 w/GTX 960m: yay or nay Thanks and happy Thursday! Regards, Pea to the Pod

alright so ive been looking for a 2560x1440 144hz monitor but theyre so expensive. currently i have a 24" 1920x1080 monitor and with nvidia control panel i can set the custom resolution to 2560x1440 at 144hz but of course it doesnt look as good as a 27" 2560x1440 144hz monitor. so i was thinking, would i be able to get a 27" 1920x1080 144hz monitor and set the custom resolution to 2560x1440 at 144hz and have it be the same as an actual 2560x1440 144hz monitor? can someone with a 144hz 1920x1080 27" monitor and nvidia graphics card try this out for me if possible?
