Like the title says. I’ve been waiting for a while now and am honestly kind of done with it. I’m really looking forward to building it and really don’t want to wait anymore if not necessary. A 1080 ti should have more than enough power for a good while. I just don’t want to see that if I buy it ray tracing becomes a big thing and that my purchase would be useless. The prices for a 1080 ti where I live are beyond amazing, but if ray tracing takes over and my gpu will become useless it’s still a huge waste of money. What do you guys think, do I buy a 1080 ti with the current prices, or hold on a while longer and wait for the 1180 release? For me the decession would be made if I can be sure the 1080 ti won’t be useless due to ray tracing.

I don't understand why this happens but benchmarks by websites are very different from the ones made by small youtubers. From 8400's review by big youtubers and websites, you can see that there's little to no difference between an 8700k and an 8400, and that's why I settled for an 8400. But go to other small youtubers who have made 8400 vs 8700k and you'll see that it has as much as 30fps difference, example ac origins in this video- Why is that? Is it because the binned ones are given to bigger channels? Or the smaller channels don't even have the processors and are just predicting the difference and making it a video so they can make more money? What's more, you can notice a particular trend between processors, example an 8400 and an 8600k will mostly have 9fps difference in many games and another youtuber had 15fps difference between them for the whole video, so my suspicion grew even more. 20-30fps is big, right? So if an 8400 bottlenecks a current gen this much, then what about next gen? I can't get a better cpu, 9th gen is gonna be a refresh meaning no big performance boost. So will it bottleneck a 2080/1180 badly?

I'm probably overthinking this but I've finally acquired every piece of hardware I need for my first real gaming rig; everything except for my gpu. I'll be running a 165hz 1440p G-Sync monitor and up until now I had planned on waiting for the release of the 11 series cards so I could pick up a 1080ti for (hopefully) less than msrp. I haven't been tuned into gpu releases before now and I have little to no experience in terms of how prices shift when new gpu's are released so I figured I'd ask for a few opinions from folks who know this market more than i do. Is waiting for the 11 series a waste of time for someone in my situation? Would I be better off just grabbing the shiny ROG Strix 1080ti that's currently sitting on the shelf of my local computer store for 1099.00 CAD? I know all of this debate is really just based on rumors, and the mining craze has messed things up for the average consumer, but as a pc-building newcomer I'd appreciate some veteran knowledge on this front. Any and all feedback/ideas are more than welcome.

It is time for me to upgrade my GPU. I am going to buy a "1080", but not sure what brand to pick.. I am thinking either the "ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 ROG Strix Gaming" or the "EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC Gaming", because they are on discount right now (670 USD). The alternatives right now is around 790 - 830 USD.. I have heard that the service on ASUS is terrible, and the EVGA is fantastic. Questions: Should i wait for the new series, and maybe the price will go down? or should i just buy now? If i buy now, what GPU is recommended? Thanks

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-announces-geforce-gaming-celebration-on-august-20 So it was rumored earlier that Nvidia was doing something for Gamescom. We now have an event name "Geforce Gaming Celebration" and a date of August 20th. Seems like a likely place to announce Turing /11 series GPUs. Based on the latest round of leaks I would be very surprised if Nvidia trolled us, and lets face it. Showing the world some Cyberpunk 2077 running on Turing at Gamescom is some top-tier advertising and hype generation. I plan on buying the 1080 and I don’t want to get next gen because it cost to much I saw this best 1080 on market and it’s on sale should I buy it? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126116

So I have a EVGA 970 SC right now with a 1440p 144hz (165 overclocked) monitor and was looking to finally upgrade my graphics card. I want to either get a 1080ti or 1180 but I don't know which. I really want to utilize the full potential of my monitor for any game possible, and looking at benchmarks/specs the 1080ti comes close but not quite. However, 1180 could cost more if I'm not immediately able to get my hands on it or still might not be enough for the performance I want exactly. Waiting for the 1180ti might be out of the question (but still possible). I've also seen a suggestion to get a 1080ti and then get another to SLI when the 1180ti comes out, but SLI has been getting worse from what I've heard so I'm basically stuck not knowing what to do. Any thoughts? My rig: 4790k w/OC 4.6GHz Corsair H115i 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ASUS Z97 SABERTOOTH MK1 EVGA 970 SC [cannot get it to OC reliably ] Rosewill 1000W PSU

I was planning on getting a 1080ti for my new pc build but now i hear the 1180 is coming out within a month or so and will cost about the same. I heard the 1180 will be slightly better than the 1080. There is a chance the 1080ti will be cheaper when the 1180 comes out but the prices of both might go up because of miners or just being out of stock. Should I buy now or wait?

I mean.. At least an attempt was made.. 3xcept both images ahwv exactly the same distortion in the bottom right...

So i've been planning on building a new gaming pc that can also be used as a workstation (gonna have a ryzen 7 2700x w/ 16 gbs of 3000 ram). The only problem is the graphics card. I want a high end card and I've been eyeing a gtx 1080 for a while now, but now with the recent news of the "confirming" that the 1180 will be released around August 30th makes me wonder if I should just wait for the that and the extra 200$ that comes with the price. The age old question of should I wait for the 1180 or 1170? or just grab a 1080. Also im only gonna be gaming on two 1080p 75hz ultrawide monitors, so I think I would be fine with a 1080, any second opinions?

Nvidia has been rumored to have started training partners on how to support their latest architecture, as reported on by Techpowerup: Which as discusses how we could finally be getting our new GPUs! And those GPUs will likely be Turing, and those partners have also started training their staff on how to support the rumored architecture: Which as stated by both sources that this likely points to a Q3 release, on top of that we have this video from UFD tech also discussing this topic: This of course comes in the wake of Nvidia stating a week ago that the release will not occur for a "long time" as stated in this previous topic: If this is truly the case then we can finally purchase more POWAAA to power the future of gaming and possibly even make VR a reality for more people. Because really, it's about time Nvidia! Though after all the inaccurate rumors from the rumor mill I will believe it when I see it.

I've heard many rumors recently of the alleged 1180/1170 GPUs from Nvidia with a release date speculated for July. Are there any 'official' sources other than the logical information we can gather from previous release dates? What do you think pricing will be like for both AF and FE? Where will they sit on the performance chart? How many Cuda Cores? Clock speed? Temps? Is it worth waiting till the release instead of buying a 1080ti etc. As always thanks for replying to the post! Kind regards, Alexander

Hi, I am building my first desktop after I move to Arizona in a few months. my price range is around 1000-1200 and I have most of the parts nailed down. The only thing I am worried about is the GPU. Should I wait for an 1160 or 1170 to come out for my build?

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-gtx-1180-gtx-2080-hot-chips-30,37152.html https://www.pcgamesn.com/nvidia-next-gen-gpu-hot-chips according to tomshardware and other websites, nvidia will unveil gtx 1180/1170 by august 20 2018 at hot chips 30, and i've been looking to build a gaming pc that runs games at 144hz 1080p and 4k sometimes for 2 or 3 years. As you guys know, its already been 2 years since 1080 came out, and its old now but stills performs good, but what if 1180 performs like how p eople predict it to, like this- i know that that chart is just a prediction it might not even be close to the real performance, but look at that 51 fps difference a 1080 and 1180 and omg this is 1440p, its obvious that in 1080p the difference will be even bigger, like where 1080 gets 144fps, 1180 could possibly get 200+. currently the 1080 i'm planning to buy is $669, the lowest in my region, so if 1180 is $770 or more, then i wont be able to get it, so i'll move down to the 1170, which still gets 30fps more than a 1080 in 1440p, again 1080p difference will be bigger. so i really dont know if i should wait 4 whole months before turing or whatever cards ship out to get a 1180/1170 or just get a 1080 this minute. i just dont want to feel bad when a 1180 comes out for the same price as a 1080 and performs like this... also fyi i'm gonna pair this up with a i5 8400 and i dont care because all i'm gonna do is game and browse. so finally should i wait for 1180/1170 or just get a 1080 right now, i really would like to buy a 1080 now, but my main problem is, *if 1180 and 1080 really does have 50 fps difference* then i wouldnt mind waiting, but if it only has like 20-30fps difference then this would all be a waste, so can i expect that performance? "the GTX 1180 will allegedly have a whopping 3584 CUDA cores, a 256-bit GDDR6 memory interface and between 8-16GB of GDDR6 memory, clocked at 16Gbps." 16gigs of gddr6, i would wait for that alone

I am looking to upgrade my gpu, What would you do in my position?? buy a 1080 now/next few weeks or wait for the new 1180?? I can get a strix 1080 on amazon for just under £600, i dont want to wait months for 1180 just to find out they going to cost £1000 bearing in mind i have a 1440p monitor cheers

Should I wait for aftermarket 1180 GPU or should I grab the Founders right when it launches (or do both founders/aftermarket cards lunch at the same time?)

So as late as Mars, AMD made a public statement that they just can't keep up w/ DRAM and Nvidia how ever just lets the silence of the empty warehouses speak for it self, similar claims have been made from other companies on the GPU market. but now when GTX 1180 has been announced it will run w/ GDDR6 memory, SK Hynix and samsung made a deal to make sure that DRAM for the next generation would be satisfied. Great finally we might see a decline in prices and rise in availability in DRAM, unless Miners.... but..... basically only for those who can afford a flagship will profit from this upgrade! correct me if I'm wrong.... Most Avg. gamers don't upgrade between every generation, and its a difference between a 1060 for 400$ and a 1080TI for 1000$, so If we take a person w/ currently a 840 or 940 or whatever, who's thinking of upgrading but is limited to either a 1060 or a 1180, if money is no problem the 1180 is a no brainer but the Gamer on a budget can't just buy the shiniest card, they have to think ahead and almost always take the low priced one. But then they are still a generation behind, and even if sufficient, price per year until needed to upgrade again is decreased. and the cycle continues. My point is the budget gamer will be punished if not buying a card from the coming generation, since staying still and waiting will lower the ability to play, the prices will stagnate or even increase when supply decreases for the lower cards untill it's to late and maybe miners will just try, even if stupid, just buy more current cards, and then new cards will be bought up buy enthusiast and miners the first year which will drive up the price. If you have 1080TI XP and planning to upgrade to the next generation (insert Fry futurama meme here) That is awesome!!! I would love to do that as well, fingers crossed! this is all my own speculation, but we are in a scary world for GPU's, because never before have the supply been so low, when a New gen comes out and I just hoped that the companies should fix this gen's shortage before going to the next. but I guess I'm a dreamer! So my 980 is past warranty and it died on me a few days ago. I was looking around for a new gpu, mainly the 1080ti, when I saw a video about the upcoming 1180. They said that Nvidia is having a GTC keynote on the 29th. Should I wait to see if there are any new graphics cards coming somewhat soon. Or do I just go for the 1080ti.

What are your reasons for a 1080 (NOT ti)? Are you happy with it and why? Are you looking to upgrade when next gen comes out?

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1180-specs-performance-price-release-date-prelimenary/ So tldr they are saying it will be a bit more powerful than a titan xp So about july we can expect the new series of cards

Source: https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/nvidia-turing-faq,news-58436.html The article does a very interesting job on listing the steps third party GPU vendors take after Nvidia delivers the GPU and memory over to partners. Addition to that, Nvidia has its own "Green Light" program which includes some more steps. All listed nicely. Therefore they can have an educated guess on when we can start to see 3rd party cards. Unfortunately, their sources haven't shared technical details, so they are still what was reported by Wccftech in April.

Hey, i am thinking about buying me a new pc in the moment and I struggle with the decision between buying the 1080Ti or waiting for the Volta series coming up in March 2018. I would be very happy if anyone could help me with that
