I am building a rig for a friend from some parts that I had lying around. I was going to use a Lenovo ThinkCentre M90p (5498) and I was going to use a single dimm of Kingston DDR3 4gb 1333mhz. The ram works on other systems, and I can get get it to post and detect it, but it won't initialize into windows. It starts loading it, but then crashes. I have had the same issue on another 1156 system, and they'll only boot with a 2gb stick. I don't have much experience with 1156 motherboards, so any help would be appreciated.

Can you really OC it just like how you OC a k variant? Are the multipliers unlocked or is it just turbo or mild OC? On What mobos can you oc that? Thanks 4 ur help

cpu About an amazing intel SoMa CPU(LGA1156)
YuuKi-AnS posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
original → China Bilibili:https://www.bilibili.com/read/cv4943368 This article is I post on chinese forum if you can see the chinese you may can know the cpu article better. Because my English is so~~ bad. About soma CPU,i know some things about it. 1. "SoMa" is made of intel 2. "SoMa"maybe is a neural computing CPU 3. "SoMa"is can be use,but we don't know what mother board can use it.Ordinary motherboard can't use it 4. "SoMa"has two version. "SoMa" and "SoMa-B3" 5. "SoMa"maybe is a EngSample For "intel Loihi CPU" (SoMa is LGA but Loihi is BGA) 6. "SoMa"is a AI CPU 7. "SoMa"is not a ordinary CPU ( ↓ Google translation ↓ )【I made some modifications about Google Translate】 Here to talk about Intel Loihi CPU Loihi is a member of Intel's Neural Mimic Processor and is the fifth generation of neural mimic processors. Intel once released a neural mimic system (neural computing cluster) codenamed Pohoki Beach. This computing cluster contains 64 Loihi neural processors with an area of only about 38.4 cm². This system has more than 8 million neural units and more than 8 billion bumps. At the same time, a single Loihi processor uses a heterogeneous design with 128 Neuromorphic Cores and 3 low-power X86 cores, with 130,000 neural units and 130 million synapses. The Loihi neural processor can be expanded to 16384 Loihi at the same time, and there will be about 2.12992 billion neural units (the human brain has about 86 billion). If 40 groups of 16,384 Loihi interconnected systems are made, the neural computing unit will be close to the number of human brains. I haven't found this Loihi processor on eBay / Amazon / Taobao / Xianyu, including Pohoki Beach's neural computing system. It will not be cheaper than a car anyway, after all, it is a professional field device. (Note: He is not an FPGA chip, but only contains FPGA functions.) In addition, there is a full explanation of why SoMa has no capacitors: during deep learning tests, its power consumption is more than 100 times lower than that of ordinary processors. The power consumption of bit-based IoT inference hardware is also 5 times lower. Real-time performance can still be maintained after the network scale is expanded 50 times, and the power consumption is only 30% higher than the original. Even more frightening is that under the 1% occupancy rate of this processor, the power consumption is only tens of milliwatts. Therefore, SoMa's power consumption is naturally not too high. Neural mimicry cluster system on Pohoki Beach A system consists of 4 daughter boards and 1 mother board. Each daughter board has 16 Loihi processors. The heat sink above is actually a capacitor. Each daughter board needs a 6pin power supply. One motherboard can connect 4 daughter boards at the same time, and the daughter boards can be stacked. The main processor is still on the mother board. Below the small blue heat sink is the main processor, which looks like a relatively large power intel Atom. The motherboard should have SFP + on it and support 10GE network.Neural mimicry cluster system on Pohoki Beach’s motherboard have a text"intel Labs".So maybe we can't get the motherboard on Bay / Amazon / Taobao / Xianyu(https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/research/neuromorphic-computing.html) Well, the mystery about the SoMa processor has also been solved. The SoMa processor is actually a product of the Intel Neural Mimicry Project. But it also seems to be a test product. As for why it is 100,000, everyone should also see above. This is a cluster computing system, just like a 16-way platinum 8280 server. Most people will not use these things when they come into contact with them, also don't know how to use. SoMa translates the meaning of the brain nerve, which is in line with Intel's neural calculations, and also proves the validity of this conclusion. About SoMa-B3, B3 may refer to the revision code. so i just built this lga 1156 computer for my firend because im moving away i know it sounds like im a super wanna be linus on scrap yard wars but im serious. i just built this lga 1156 with a gtx 970, 8gb of ram and i wanna make sure my motherboard works i dont have a cpu yet i wanna make sure this motherboard works before i spend the money on a cpu is there a way i can turn it on and have the lights turn on and the gpu fan spin and the 4 ther fans turn on without a cpu? PLZ HELP

After 1 year of struggle with 2 GB memory stick, I tried to upgrade RAM but met some problems. While mobo supports up to 16 GB, Xeon can use up to 32.So,I bought 8GB stick but system refused to boot. So, what is better option: buy 2X4 Gig sticks or track down 8 Gig double-sided one, because some folks had success running them(idk if they were double sided). And last think: is it possible to use ECC?(because it cheaper and for compiling a little bit of redundancy would help)

I own a pre-buit Megaware computer, that came with an ECS H55h-cm motherboard and an i3 530. It was always thermal throttling, with the STOCK VOLTAGE SET TO 1.524V! I tried to lower it on the BIOS, but I couldn't find any voltage regurating options. Tried software tuning as well, but no luck. I bought a new processor, a Xeon X3430, but the voltage remains the same, but now only 3,99GB of the 8GB of RAM is usable. Tried all I know to solve the memory problems: BIOS, MSCONFIG, Virtual Memory, etc. Any ideas?

Hey guys, Read the topic. So yeah My old Mobo named biostar h55 about 5-7 yrs old CPU pins have bent.It is not repairable. So should I get a mobo with lga 1156 socket in December 2017 and 2018?

So here's the deal - my motherboard is pulling over 13.5 volts from the psu. I have tried 2 other psu's, a cheap chinese one and a corsair cx750 and both of them reached about 13.8 before overvoltage protection kicked in. Specs: GA-H55M-USB3 mobo i3-540 cpu 2x2GB Kingston DDR3 ram GeForce GT440 gpu 2xSATA drives (Samsung and Seagate) I have swapped all the components into another case but same story. Changed CPU coolers, no effect. Also the CMOS battery was replaced 3 months ago and its on 2.8 volts. With the system powered off the 12v rail shows an inconsistent voltage of around 0.5v. Im out of ideas and time plz help!

Im getting a I5 760 for my LAN pc and looking around on ebay for motherboards all i can afford is a H55 one if i want something thats not Dell or unbranded. there are some Ok Gigabyte ones and some ASRock ones i can afford but there all H55 instead of P55 and i dont know if i can overclock on them because im pretty sure a H97(for example) board cant overclock but a Z97 can. im not too familiar with older hardware so i need some help here, thanks for any replies and any help here

Hey guys, Im new here and i need a hand. I was recently given an i7 860 (i know its old) And was really looking forward to overclocking it and getting shit done but realised my motherboard (1150) wont fit the 1156 cpu. I need some advice on a cheap mother board to replace my MSI H81M-P33. Thanks everyone in advance!

Found this beauty from our schools recycling/throwing away pile of old computers(athlon 64 x2's/775 pentiums and older) The nice thing is that the mb included i7-860 which i have tested and it's working, a 500w random psu, 4gb of ddr3, 500gb seagate hdd with w7 enterprise os, case and finally working 9800gtx+ The thing is that the motherboards green light turns on when the whole thing has power but no fans or anything spins up, I have tried to start it with different cmos battery, with screwdriver from the pins and with a different surely working psu, but nothing works. I have had a look around the board with magnifying glass and bright light, I didn't see any burned or broken parts etc, the pins are all good in the socket... Is it totally busted or can I safe it somehow? Such a pitty to throw away perfectly looking board.

So I scored a nice i5 for free and I'd like to take advantage of that. I don't have the exact model, but it's nice cpu. so, I need help in finding a ITX motherboard with a 1156 socket. willing to buy from anywhere in the world. I know there ain't many good motherboards for that socket, but I want a mini ITX motherboard. Links to stores with them in stock would be nice. or if you'd like to sell one to me thanks!

Hi I've got an old i3-550 lying around from a previous desktop, thought about using it for a small form factor LAN PC. It's not got to be stupidly powerful just want it for playing league mainly, maybe of few other games. Any suggestions on whether it is worth building a PC around this CPU, I know it runs on a 1156 socket which you don't see many of now, so I was struggling to mind a suitable motherboard. Is this a good idea or should I just buy a different processor?

Alrighty, I'm working on a new and somewhat secretive project (build log will be posted soon). Please don't go recommending new parts because it's out of the question, way above the intended budget and defeats the purpose of this project. What I'm looking for is suggestions for the fastest gaming CPUs within the last 6-7 years. Nothing newer than Sandybridge and nothing AMD. I'm thinking Core 2 Quads and 1st gen Core i series mainly, but I'm not overly familiar with these CPU line-ups. I'm researching these as much as I can in the mean time, but I'd like to hear from you guys what you've used or which ones you know that would still perform decently for gaming today. Why am I looking for older stuff? Simply put; I'm looking for the best [gaming] performance for the absolute lowest cost. Kind of like what Linus and Slick are doing with their latest budget gaming build-off video series. So, any thoughts/suggestions? *EDIT* Actually not ruling out AMD - depends what I can find for the right price. Thanks, MEC.

Hi guys, i have a question, i have older motherboard from maybe 2 and a half years old. Now, it does not have SATA III And, many PCI slots . So I was thinking about buying new one. BUT My question is . is it necessary to change socket with motherboard ? To be even more accurate iam asking about my CPU. I think its working great and fast. its Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHz . If you were in my situation Would you consider buying new CPU with new Motherboard ?? I dont want brutal high end CPU, mostly for Programming, Unity staff, compiling code, running virtual machines. and Gaming. TLDR : Iam asking if Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHz is outdated? Also, if i buy some consumer grade i7 if it will be really big change ? Thanks, any questions, just ask

Hello, I was just wondering what method of application you guys usually use for 1150 and related socket CPU's? Do you normally just put a small dot in the center unless it's a HDT cooler?
