Hello all, I have a mikrotik CRS305 with a mikrotik S+RJ10 module connected to the 10gb nic on my proart. Basically 10gb sfp+ switch to RJ45 module to motherboard via shielded cat6. The link establishes and works well but only negotiates and tops out on iperf to 5gbps. If i connect my Asus XG C100C nic to the x570 proart and use that instead, same setup, i get 10gb. i tried disabling power saving ethernet on the device manager with no change. What can i try next to get my motherboard's native nic to establish at 10gb? Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm running Proxmox 7.0-13, which seems to be based on Debian 11. Does anyone know how to get the Mellanox Drivers working? The latest driver seems to be only for 10.8. Im just wondering, if anybody else got this working. I just dont want to do the hustle of downgrading my proxmox version to 6.0 or even lower. Thanks a lot! Edit: I probably should have stated that you cannot use the lastest driver, it will simply not install, even when passed the "-force" argument.

Hello everyone i am new here so forgive me if i am posting this in the wrong place. The issue i am having is between my Windows 10 PC and my unRAID server running 6.8.2. I watched multiple guides and have googled an epic ton and believe i have setup everything properly but i am only able to get a speed of 400+ MB/s capping at 500. I have setup a ramdisk on the windows pc and Unraid and it makes no difference. Lastly i tried using iperf which from my understand is in ram only and does not involve hard drives in any way and the results were not much better, the hardware i am using is Mellanox MCX311A-XCAT CX311A ConnectX-3 EN 10G Ethernet 10GbE SFP+ x2 i have seen the linus guide on how to set this up so all relevant settings are correct MTU etc uNRAID Server X9DRI-LN4F+ Supermicro Rev 1.20 Dual Intel Xeon LGA2011 Server System Board INTEL XEON E5-2680V2 10 CORE 2.80GHz Samsung M393B2G70BH0-CK0 64GB DDR3 12800R 1600Mhz 1.5v 2rx4 Server Ram 64TB's of storage 2x 256GB SSD cache pool 9210-8I LSI 8-PORT 6GBPS PCI-E SAS SATA RAID CONTROLLER Windows Desktop ASUS P8Z77 WS Intel Core i7-3770K Socket H2 (LGA1155) DDR3-1600 / PC3-12800 DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770x2 Boot Drive: Intel SSD 256GB 6Gb/s

I currently have a AN-110-SW-R-16, which is a gigabit switch with 16, you guessed it, gigabit Ethernet/RJ45/whatever you call them ports. I want a replacement that can take a 10Gb input instead and can also be managed, and there are 3 options for this: Find a new switch with a 10Gb trunk and 16 1Gb ports (+compatible with my cable types because for some reason I have multiple types, +probably less expensive because only gigabit output ports, +has 16 ports, —only gigabit ports). I would need a recommendation for this. Get the switch Linus used when 10 gig-ing his house (++10Gb ports, -more expensive, -only 12 ports, which is all of the 16 that I’m using currently, but then I would have no room to plug more stuff in except on my router) Get this switch I found on Amazon (++10Gb ports, +16 ports for more connections if needed, —even MORE expensive) Even though it seems the worst in my terrible pros & cons list, I was leaning towards the second option because I can always plug more stuff into my router, and it is about $300 less than the option 3 I found. Opinions? If you think the first option is best can you give any recommendations? Thanks and stay healthy, The Holy Grail of Food EDIT: Also, random question while you are here, do you need a WiFi 6 router if you have a WiFi 6 mesh network?

(I mean modem as router)Hi guys, I'm planning to build a gaming desktop. I'm wondering about ethernet. Normally, a household uses 1gb/s modem or ethernet, but I'm thinking to have my gaming desktop to have like 2.5gb/s or 10gb/s ethernet. 1st question) do i need to upgrade my modem to a 10gb/s one? 2nd question) if my motherboard only has a 1gb/s ethernet connector, what should i do to like increase to either 2.5gb/s or 10gb/s? should i buy something? Thank you

The question is, how much benefit would one receive when switching to 10 Gb? I don't think a NAS would benefit much, unless you are using SSDs instead of mechanical hard drives.

Hey everyone, Sorry if this is a noobish question but I was wondering if I can have a 10gb backbone for multiple 1gb clients and I was considering this, https://routerboard.com/RB2011UiAS-RM https://routerboard.com/CRS326-24G-2SplusRM The only thing is that the routers sfp port is only sfp not sfp plus, will this restict my backbone's speed to 1 gb even though the switches or switch is 10gb. Basicly I would have internnet into router, Sfp out of router and into sfp+ on switch from there to more Sfp+ ports on other switches. Thanks

When does everyone think that 10Gb Ethernet should be a standard on all motherboards and modems/routers, i mean back when i migrated from dial-up to adsl 10/100 was normal now 10/100/1000 is normal and adsl+ hasn't been much better but with fiber coming to Australia and some people already have it eventually 10Gb Ethernet will be a normally everyday standard anyone out there have any thoughts to this?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I have an issue. I have point to point network, 4 clients connected to one server directly (no switch): 1 server - i9-9900 with 4 port 10Gb NIC (intel x710), windows10 4 clients - xeon with 1 port 10Gb NIC, windows10 When I run iPerf I get the following results: 1 to 1 - 10Gb (doesn't meter which one) 2 to 1 - 10Gb x 2 (20Gb total) 3 to 1 - 8Gb x 3 (24Gb total) 4 to 1 - 6Gb x 4 (24Gb total) The server is maxed out at ~25Gb/s I tried to change the buffers, number of connection and nothing helps. Please help, Michael

A co-worker asked me yesterday if these exist. I want to say yes? But I never really thought about it. I'm pretty sure the exist in the server space, but I thought I would ask here. Price isn't a concern. Also, if these do exist, is one manufacturer better than another? Thanks!!

I have an Unraid server with a 10Gb dual port copper nic inside of it. The Nic works inside of unraid. Currently I have the onboard Nic (eth0) setup just for remote connection so I don't have to do the GUI boot. And eth1 and eth2 are the 10Gb nic. I have a ProSafe XS716T switch as well. I setup the LAG interface inside of the switch I believe. But when I try to enable bonding (802.3ad (4)) on the eth1 nic, the only members that show up are eth1. eth2 does not show up. I have never setup LAG before, so a walk through would be very helpful.

Hello Forum, I have a computer/gaming workstation which I would like to add to a 10G network, currently I'm using the Intel NIC for internet access and to access computers on my local network, However I also have a NAS windows Machine which has a Asus 10G network card installed, I was wondering if I could add a second NIC to my gaming desktop and have both networks connected to my desktop. I don't need internet access to my NAS computer and they would be connected via their own interfaces, can they still be configured to work only with each other for example 192.168.2.2 and 192.168.2.3 by setting them up in the windows LAN properties under their respective adapters. Hope this makes sense.

Hey guys! Avid YouTube viewer for a few years and I thought to myself who better to ask for some help Basically the problem I'm having is that I wanted to have a 10Gb connection to my FreeNAS server, but I'm experiencing horrible file transfer speeds. What I was expecting was to achieve around 800-1000mb/s on a 40Gb test file, but instead I max out at 170-180mb/s. I can transfer the same file over my 1Gb connection at 110-115mb/s. Here's my setup. I'll list both 1gb and 10gb connections. --- FreeNAS Server freenas 11.2 Core i7 3820 40gb ram 1tb Seagate barracuda boot drive 2x 4tb Seagate barracuda in RAID0 3x 1gb NIC in LACP lag config (eth0) 1x Mellanox MNPA19-XTR with default drivers (mlnx0) --- Main PC: Windows 10 Core i5 8600k @5.0Ghz Evga Gtx1080 SC 16gb ram 256gb wd black NVME boot drive 500gb evo 860 app drive 2x 4tb Seagate barracuda storage drives (no raid) 1x 1gb nic 1x Mellanox MNPA19-XTR --- Both PC's are connected together with a Cisco passive sfp+ cable for the 10GB network, and the 1GB nics are all connected to a procurve 1810g-24 managed switch. What I've done: -Set an mtu of 9000 on the freenas server, set jumbo packet on Windows to 9000. -max number of RSS processes: number of physical cpu cores -max number of RSS queues: number of physical cpu cores -receive buffers: 4096 -send buffers: 4096 I booted to LinuxLive on the window's PC and did an iperf test which confirmed my bandwidth between the two was 9.4Gb. The interesting thing I noticed was that this speed was consistent if I tried uploading the file to and from the server, with different drives (remember the two 4tb aren't raided in the windows pc), but when I tried transferring the file from the ssd on the windows pc to the freenas s server, I was able to achieve transfer rates of about 500mb/s, but it was really erratic and would drop to zero every few seconds. If anything else is needed I'd be more than happy to provide it.

Hello! I have a weird issue. I currently have four editors editing 4k dnxhr hqx material of a Synology 1817+ NAS with four 4TB wd Reds and four 8TB ironwolfes all in a single volume with SHR2 (Same as RAID6) parity. The NAS has 8GB of RAM. I get 800MBps reads and 300MBps reads on the array from a editingcomputer, and all computers are on a 10Gb network. I have constant instability. Adobe programs crashing left and right, work is lost and people are mad. In the beginning, I thought speeds on the array was the culprit, but the thing is - its not doing very much 10Mbps reads/writes per user. I cannot wrap my head around what is going on! Adobe Project files are on the NAS, if that makes a difference I hope you can give me a point in the right direction

I have a point to point connection between may gaming rig and server. Rig is Win 10 Server is Ubuntu LTS. I have a 10g card in my server and my onboard 10gb for my rig. The connection is being use you transferring to the server. It starts out great 700MB/s but half way through the transfer speed drops to 4.50MB/s. I have change hundreds of setting and more. I don't know what to do it seems like a offload setting or power setting is a problem(but I have them all off).

I'm looking for a cheap, small multi-gig switch that has at least 2 10Gb SFP ports and plenty of Ethernet ports. The ethernet can be 10Gb or 1Gb, the main issue is the price tag.

Not too long ago one of my external hard drives, containing all my movie projects and media, died. Of course I had made some back-ups on different drives, so not everything was lost. This did set me back some days though. Anyhow, since I was also having problems storing all the data that comes with 4K movies on external hard drives and the transfer speed that comes with USB 3.0, I decided to try to build a storage server that will stream 4K footage over the network to my editing software (Avid Media Composer). The problem: I have no actual clue on how to do this. I searched a bit online and found tons of guides on how to build a NAS or storage server but none of them are specifically for movie editing. I was hoping there is someone here that has experience with this. Now, I have some old but working hardware laying around. What I have: Asus P8Z77-V PREMIUM motherboard Intel core i7 3770K CPU I was planning to buy a 2U hot-swap storage chassis. This one for instance: https://www.inter-tech.de/en/products/ipc/storage-cases/2u-2408 And also I was planning to use UNRAID as the OS for the server. I have a 10Gb ethernet wiring in my home. There is no other 10Gb networking gear though, like a switch or something. The couple of questions I have: - Will ECC memory work as ECC memory in this motheboard. - How do I get a fast enough transfer link from the server to my PC so that it can stream 4K media over the network to my timeline? - What RAID card do I need? Do I need a RAID card? - Do I need a network card to achieve 10Gb transfer speed. Do I need 10Gb transfer speed? - Should I buy new/used server hardware (mobo and CPU) rather than re-use the harware I have laying around? - Will 8 hot-swappable bays be enough to achieve 40 TB of redundant Raid storage? - Do I need any other networking gear to achieve a 10Gb link? I hope there is anyone here that has experience with network storage for movie editing. Maybe even specifically network storage for Avid products. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks and Grtz, Alean =]

As already busy about 3 weeks to get some 10Gb network to work i see finnaly some results, at least i got a connection now from main pc to a networked server here. Both machines with 10Gb cards , one has a Intel X520-2 dualport SFP+ the other the ASUS XG-C100C card, connected by a TP-Link T1700X 10Gb switch. It took me so long to find out any usefull setting i need to make at least a connection between both machines. My plan was first to make a direct connection between this machines but the lack of pci-e slots destroied this idea. Had only a pci-e x4 slot available (x8 long) so didnt got the X520-2 running, the installalation was already a disaster as there are so many brands using those Intel chipset , hard to find out what driver is need. Now iam still stuck with a rest of a wrong driver which wont let me uninstall , but disabled anyway. Now i am finally got a connection using this Asus what was easy to install, but all the network settings from this NIC.... i might have some pci-e bandwith issue as some settings dont go well. At least i find out that Jumbo frames isnt a good idea on this Asus even my switch and the Intel NIC support it. But how about all other settings? i hope someone can tell more by own experiance... Its so hard to test all those, network down , waiting , network up , ping , waiting ... thats why i took so long already lol , i never give up so easy , all by all its stuff to learn from. * forgot to tell i setup a VLAN for both machines as this connection is not need internet and use for filecopy.

Hello I am thinking of building a Mini-ATX machine with a 10gb LAN connection to my server but I think I need a motherboard with a native 10gb NIC, for I would have no free PCI-E slots for an expansion card. But I have not been able to find many motherboards, with 10gb ports and even less mini-ATX ones. Does anyone know of something that could help me? Best regards!
