Hi. I can not set my refresh rate above 120Hz with 10-bit color depth. It automatically switches to 8-bit. Even though my monitor claims 170Hz, it's only usable at a maximum of 120Hz with 10-bit. Is this a cable or monitor issue? My monitor model: VX2780J-2K Cable: Ugreen 80391 DisplayPort 1.4 cable. GPU: 4070

I got a MSI MAG274QRF-QD which have a "10 bit panel" (Acutally 8 bit + FRC) So when connect with DP to a RTX 3080 the option are either 10-bit with 120Hz or 8-bit with 165Hz. Of course color format is YCbCr4:4:4 I'm thinking keeping it at 10-Bit 120 Hz, since the whole reason I chose this monitor over others is the color accuracy/wider color space. Also, I'm wondering if I should turn on HDR. I know this monitor is only rated at HDR 400 and don't have local dimming, so for better color accuracy, I probably should not turn on HDR.

So I've been using my Odyssey G7 for a while now and I just accepted the fact that this display would flash black when alt-tabbing out of a fullscreen app. However, I switched to 8bit color and this stopped happening. Why does 10bit cause the display to disconnect/reconnect when alt-tabbing?? Also, HDR/local dimming/dynamic brightness is all disabled and I tried multiple combinations of gsync on for fullscreen & windowed or just windowed, etc. The only thing that fixes this issue is switching to 8bit color. Is there a difference between 10bit and 8bit if I'm not using HDR? Because so far I don't see anything.

I have recently bought an Android tablet (Realme Pad). It comes with Mediatek Helio G80. I know it's a pretty low powered tablet, but given my use of tab is only restricted to watching media (primarily offline, local media) and reading books, I thought this should be more than sufficient. Since I mostly consume offline media, and that too mostly 1080p HEVC 10bit, I had previously researched regarding the hardware accelerated video decoding capabilities of the Mediatek SoC. I had looked it up on CPU Monkey (here) and it mentioned that the CPU (actually the GPU) has the capability of decoding of HEVC 10 bit videos. But after I bought it, I tried to play the same, it does not provide hardware decoding. I tested it using video files from the jellyfish website (here), even the 10mbps bitrate files stutter heavily. I have tried both with MX player and VLC for Android, did not work for both of them. Am I doing something wrong? Is CPU Monkey is not a reliable website to check this sort of info regarding mobile SoCs? Or do tablet manufacturers deliberately deactivate some capabilities for cost savings? (My tab costs around 190 USD) Any kind of help/information will be much appreciated. :)

Heyy, I'm considering a RTX 3060 if it comes out eventually and I read that newer Nvidia cards (I think since 900 series?) should support 10 bit colour with Open GL programms. I have only a "fake" 10 bit monitor (8 bit + frc), so I wanted to ask if the Nvidia cards only support it with a native 10 pit panel or also a 8 bit + frc?

Hello, I figured this would be the place to ask. My issue is that my computer has serious issues with playing / decoding 10-bit 4K 4:2:2 HEVC video files, I can tell it's also struggling a little with 1080i files if I try and edit it in Premiere, but it can't even play 2160p in a media player. I have tried all sorts of codecs and media players, however none of them can get the job done, which is why I think it's a hardware issue. My PC doesn't have any issues playing 4K ProRes at around 6-700mbps, so it shouldn't be a hard drive issue either. My setup: CPU: i7-6700 @ 3.40 GHz Motherboard: ASUS B150M-PLUS RAM: 32GB DDR4 (dual) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1070 MSI 8GB GDDR5 I suspect that the CPU is too old, but I'd still love to get a second opinion before I upgrade my setup. Thanks in advance. hi there, I'm interested in getting an ultrawide for my home office. Will be both work & gaming. Budget is 1200usd +/-. My pc is 8700k @4.9ghz, 64gb 3000mhz, 2080 super, 1tb 970 m.2. Gaming specs is my primary focus. Ideally 144hz+ (native), gsync, IPS, 10bit & QLED or HDR 1ms ideally. I'm torn between32in up to 49inch & looking at samsungs 49inch crg90, Asus 49inch, or LG UG models. Too many videos with mixed feedback across diff models pros & cons. Thanks in advance for any advice.

source: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/378.66/378.66-win10-win8-win7-desktop-release-notes.pdf nVidia finally released a driver that enables HEVC/VP9 10 bit HW decoding for GeForce cards - it doesn't specifically state, but I'm guessing this is only available for GTX10xx series; dunno the status for GTX950/960 after getting my GTX1070 I found it really odd that the only way to HW decode 10bit was though DXVA2 and not through HEVC --- the complete list of GPU decode capabilities: https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix#Decoder

Here is a good topic for a YouTube video... what is the 'real' reason most video cards do not support 10 bit color in windows? While most people do not want or need 10 bit color, I am an avid weekend hobby photographer and process my cameras raw files on a monitor with 10 bit capability (30 bit total, R+G+B). In using photoshop for processing image files, I don't really need the power of 'gaming' video cards. What I do need is 10 bit color per channel. My current understanding of the story from video manufacturers is that windows has some sort of limitation itself. What does not seem to make sense with that reasoning is if I buy an expensive 'workstation' class video card from the same manufacturer, then I get 10 bit color. This seems to imply that the story of a windows OS limitation is total B.S. and this is just a ploy to sell more workstation class video cards. With the advances in gaming hardware and games, when will non-workstation video cards get drivers that let you enable 10 bit color in windows? in my case, I have to believe that a the video capability built into CPUs would be fine, I just need 10 bit color. Hello guys, I recently bought this monitor: http://www.samsung.com/br/business/business-products/business-monitor/ex-series/LU28E590DS/ZD Sorry for the brazillian page, but the model is: U28E590D. On descriptions it says that the pannel is 10bit. My current VGA is GTX 1070 Zotac, and I'm using the DP cable 1.2 that came in monitor. When setting my monitor to 10bit on Nvidia driver, I noticed that it goes back to 8bit automatically. Am I doing anything wrong? Are my games getting 10bit benefit regardless of that? A screenshot is attached to this post. If anyone can clarify what 10bit on this monitor means... I watch anime/concerts alot, and many of my files is actually 10bit, but I can't notice any difference. I don't know if that file is only encoded 10bit for size issues. Well, anyway, I hope anyone help me hehe.

I just got my self a new 4k tv, I was wondering witch one is better for gaming? 4k/60fps at 10bit with 4:2:2 or 4k/60fps at 8bit with 4:4:4/RGB full range? am not going to give up 60fps for 4:4:4/RGB at 10bit.

Hello, I have a Lacie 324 monitor, It's wide gamut, 10 bit, 96% of adobe rgb color space. Even if it's from 2007 it was a professional monitor. My question is: how can I watch 10 bit movies from windows 10 to make the most out of this monitor? Can I use 10 bit color space when I normally use the pc? Do I need a different hdmi cable? I have a laptop with integrated intel gpu and gtx960m. I have a x-rite pantone huey pro colorimeter, what software do you suggest to calibrate the monitor? Thank you really much

Hello lads, i am currently searching for a secondary display, which will be most of the time used for content creation such as Premiere, CAD, C4D et cetera. So color accuracy would be pretty neat. 25 - 27 inches(Zoll) 1080p is also enough for my work. Some sort of IPS is a must and a really small bezel at the sides would be perfect. About the price, as cheap as possible, but as expensive as needed. I looked online and i had NO IDEA how much panels are out there , i really have no idea which are any good for there money. Some suggestions would be great :-*.

Hey all! My monitor is the LG 27UK600-W, IPS, HDR 10, 10BIT (8bit + A-FRC) So in Nvidia control Panel, at the bottom settings, until yesterday i had it set to Use default color settings. Then i changed it to Use Nvidia colors settings, from 8 bpc i set it to 10Bpc. To be honest, i didn't see much of a difference. Then there is that option, Output color format that is set by default to RGB, as you see in the picture there are 2 more option. 1:should i change this setting? 2:are all those setting make a difference, or not and i should set it back to, Use default color settings? Thanks!

Hi everyone, So I bought a Viewsonic VX3276-2k-mhd monitor which supports 10bit color(at least that's what it says on the website). I'm trying to use 10bit color on the monitor but I'm having trouble doing that. When I searched online, a lot of topics are saying that I can enable it on the nVidia control panel but the options these topics are mentioning are greyed out on my control panel. I'm using a Gigabyte GTX 1070. I'm using a HDMI cable to connect the monitor to the PC. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I snagged up this Acer ET32QK monitor the other day and it finally arrived tonight. I've been messing around in the Nvidia control panel attempting to get her to 4K, 60Hz at 10bpc, and keep falling flat on my face... Originally, the stock DP cable it came with was having issues with the HDR setting on the monitor, and don't believe I managed to get a 10Bit signal at all with it. Assuming it was a bandwidth issue I decided to give one of my HDMI cables a go, and it worked! However there seems to be a few quirks, and I can't wrap my head around it. A) The color depth for YcBcR422 runs 4k at 60Hz at either, 8,10, or 12 bpc, but RGB appears to run at only either 8 or 12 bpc (at 30Hz....need a new cable I guess...) -Why dose the selection permit me to select either 12bit or 8bit, but not 10bit? Is this not an option? Am I missing something? Is not 12bit greater than 10bit? B) Would anyone be familiar to why the HDR profile on this monitor is greyed out while using DP at all? Seems rather odd...

I've recently purchased an Asus PB287Q display as it was on a big discount and I already hate it. I can't get used with the terrible colours of a TN panel. So I am going to replace it soon and I am looking for recommendations to make a more informed purchase this time. My budget is £500 ($650), maybe push it to £600 ($750) if really need to. I will be purchasing that here in the UK. Overall I am looking for a prosumer monitor that offers a good viewing experience (including blu-rays, Amazon and Netflix), some high-res photo editing from time to time, possibly some CAD and occasionally some gaming (both PC and PS4); also a lot of writing text and coding. In case it matters, I am going to be using it in a dual monitor setup beside my LG 29UM69G 29” 2560x1080 IPS 1ms 75Hz 21:9 Gaming Monitor. What I am generally looking in terms of features is the following: 1. Must have features - 4K 16:9 - IPS (maybe I would consider a VA if it has really good colours) - very good sRGB coverage - Display Port connection (my computer has DP1.3 ports) - 10 bit colours (I would consider 8bit + FRC but I would really prefer true 10 bit) - VESA wall mounting 2. Would love to have - HDR (it's probably not going to be true HDR at that price, but it's still something I'd love to see) - good Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 colour coverage 3. Would like to see - G-sync (unlikely, but just thought I should put it up here) - at least two DP ports and one HDMI port - integrated power supply (no external ``brick`` as Linus calls it) - narrow bezels (my 21:9 has super-small bezels) 4. Don't care about - stand (going to be removed anyway most probably) - number of USBs - FreeSync - high-frequency rates - integrated speakers - weird gaming features like digital crosshairs and timers - accessories and cables Also, I would prefer the monitor to be between 24'' and 34'' (27'' probably being the sweet spot for me). Please remember I have an 29'' ultrawide monitor on my desk already so I don't want to hear about 43'' monitors (also, I'd love to be able to actually rotate the screen). I haven't managed to read many reviews, but, for now, these are some of the options I am considering (please let me know which one do you think it is best and if you know any better ones, please feel welcome to suggest some): - BenQ BL2711U - £419 - there seems to be some confusion on whether this is true 10bit or 8-bit + FRC; please let me know if you know about that; I love that it has the auto-pivot feature (not sure if it would work without the stand though?) - BenQ PD3200U - £630 - seems to be widely suggested but I fail to see how it is better (or different, except for screen size) than the BenQ BL2711U - ASUS PB27UQ - £565 - is this true 10bit? I think the monitor controls are as shit as on my current Asus PB287Q - LG 27UK650 - £446 - HDR, but it uses 8-bit + FRC and peak brightness is only 450nits; also nice bezels; There are also the LG 27UK600 and LG 27UK850 which are priced around the same value (+/-£50) but they don't seem to not have any different features/specs? - Dell UltraSharp InfinityEdge U2718Q - £624 - HDR, but only 350nits brightness; apparently HDR is supported only over HDMI

I need help finding a monitor good for me. I'll be using it for productive purposes and gaming I would like to have a 10 bit 4k monitor that is 144 Hz with 1 ms response time. I looked around Newegg for a bit but my internet is being a pain in the a$$ right now so I would love some help. Thanks a lot in advance.

Source: https://displayhdr.org/ The first products are expected to be announced at CES 2018. Really nice to see some proper HDR standard for PCs. I'm (almost) regretting buying my Acer XB271HU, I got tired of waiting for proper HDR monitors. I think the specs make sense, or at least not going above 1000 nits for a PC monitor makes sense to me. Calling something with 400nits and 8bits colour HDR feels misleading to me, and shouldn't really be part of the spec at all. But DisplayHDR 600 seems like a nice "mid-range" HDR to keep monitor prices down.

Hey Guys, Can I buy a cheap quadro for my 10 bit screen and while the quadro is running the screen my GTX 980 is rendering games?

Hello guys, I need a graphics card for 10-bit color on a 4K monitor. I do not do video editing or encoding - I just want the best possible colors for photo editing. I realise that I need an IPS monitor with 10-bit color reproduction, but which GPU should I use? I would like the cheapest possible one. Currently I think the AMD FirePro W7000 would be the cheapest option, but I am not sure. I also read that 970 can co 10-but color just not in adobe programs - is this true? Hope you can help. Best regards

Ok so ive been looking for a good quality, slim bezel 1440p monitor for a triple set up. Came across this asus monitor. Its a 32" 1440p with a 10bit color vs 8bit so it has 1.08B colors vs a mere 16.7M http://www.amazon.com/PB328Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B00XI4PAD2 Does anyone have one or know how much better the 10bit color looks? Edit: i do alot of gaming, but mostly mmo stuff. Some fps.
