  1. Hi all, first time posting here... I currently have an MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 and I happened to get my hands on an MSI Armor OC GTX 1080 recently. I've heard the Armor OC runs a little hot because of its last gen cooling unlike the Gaming X which seems to have lower temps across the board. Since they are the same PCB, would it be possible to swap the cooler from the gaming X 1070 and put it on the Armor OC 1080? Also, if this is possible, will the Noctua NT-H1 paste I have on hand work for GPU's since it's non conductive? or is there another factor I'm not aware of? And Lastly, to do this will I need to buy new thermal pads? Thanks

  3. What is everyones opinions on Palit GPUs specifically the Palit GTX 1070 8GB JetStream? Is this a good card or should I go for something else?http://www.palit.com/palit/vgapro.php?id=2624&lang=en&pn=NE51070015P2-1041J&tab=sp
  4. I've noticed something curious, I'm running an Asus Laptop from last year with a laptop 1070 and a Core I7-6700HQ. Anyone who as a laptop 1070 knows how difficult it is for them to hit their boost clock, or even the base clock sometimes. So, knowing that the power limit is hard coded and that I lacked any thermal headroom, it is a laptop card overall. I went out to see if underclocking the memory on the card would improve the stability of the core clock, and it did, reducing the memory clock by 100Mhz and increasing the GPU clock by 100Mhz yielded a 2.6% performance gain in Unigine Heaven, Underlocking the memory further seemed to reduce performance, but I was wondering if anyone has done this before and enjoyed similar performance gains, or if it has been investigated by someone else, a quick google search yielded little information. While this might only mean the difference between 62 and 64 FPS, I think any enthusiast would rather take the 64.
  5. I am getting 100 percent cpu usage, with about 60 percent gpu usage with an, i5 4690k and a 1070. Can someone please explain because with some research this should definitely not be a bottleneck.I am wondering if it could be my motherboard or 650w powersupply. Thanks. Ill supply photos if needed

Graphics card supplies like this are treasure pockets meant for gamers in need, don't buy in bulk for unprofitable ethereum mining! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Source: After hours of searching for a cheap 1060, I hit the jackpot! 7. Hello, Im planning on getting a GTX 1070 for a while now but since the online coins is getting so populair it's hard to find a gpu now. Currently I am able to pick up two cards without waiting ages for it to arrive. It's the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition or the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming. I have a hard time on deciding which one to pick up since my current system is not that great. I am planning to upgrade to RyZen soon. The problem I am having right now is that the EVGA one does not have a back plate which is always nice to have, but the Gigabyte one has quite a high power usage. My current system has the corsair CX430 psu so im not sure if I am able to run the Gigabyte one.
  8. is your country getting mining at nvidia gpu 1060,1070 and 1050ti? Coz i cant get any retailer sell it right now
  9. I am currently using a laptop for gaming, it is enough to scrape by at low to medium settings. But I am planning to build a desktop(not the greatest timing with aetherium mining and dram shortage). My problem is that a 1070 should be alright for my needs but right now for about $150 more I could get a 1080. Is the 1080 a better value(could upgrade to 4K and better future proofing). Or do I wait(can still game on my laptop for now) for vega(possibly a better deal than 1070/1080 or possible price drops for 1070/1080).
  10. So the was a sale for a gigabyte 1080, it was at 499.99 I wanted to buy it now so I've checked it and it went up to 624... Crap. I've been checking other 1080 on Amazon and saw the EVGA ftw at 559 I don't know if this is still a good deal or not. So should I get this? I have a 1080p 114hz monitor, before all the mining thing I was planning on buying a new PC, and I anted to buy a MSI gtx 1070 gaming x but now with the mining thing I can't see any good offer. But now that the etherum mining is finally going down I just saw an EVGA 1070 SC at 459... I've wanted to buy the gigabyte 1080, I've prepared everything and now I don't know what to do lol get the 1080 or 1070. With the 1080 I'll have future proof, it'll still be Overkill for my system but probably I'll have a chance to buy a 1440p ~100-144hz monitor in the future.
  11. I have a question, will my EVGA 430w be able to support a new gtx 1070? Both of the items are new i just bought them but i didnt think about that, im low on money now. Can someone tell me will it work and what will be the best thing to do. Thanks!
  12. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IR6LMLO Right now it is on "sale", i have an i5 6600k, and a 1080p 144hz monitor, i know a GTX 1080 is overkill for 1080p, but i don't know how many months i'll have to wait for a 1070. I am/was planning to buy the MSI gtx 1070 Gaming X since it fits the aesthetics of my pc, but i can't find it anywhere, and if someone's selling it, it cost like $600. So should i get the 1080?
  13. I only just bought this card yesterday so its brand new but haven't noticed this issue till now. I know the card is supposed to have 8gb ram but for some reason its only using 4? screenshots: unreal heaven benchmark - https://gyazo.com/88253d5b663b791508d3928c47b9b803 hwmonitor - https://gyazo.com/f6cacd4ec2d71a3aff51035341796053

  16. Long time no see, but I thought I wanted to share my progress of me getting into mining. As you might notice from the v1.2, this is not the original configuration, but I will get to that later. Specs: Intel Core i7-4930k Asus Rampage IV BE Corsair H80 three Noiseblocker NB eloop B12-4's Corsair RM1000 some Seagate 1TB HDD two MSI GTX 1070 Armor 8G's some random 15-year old case which housed my first ever gaming pc back in the day All of these parts I had lying around from older builds, so I might as well put them to work mining, instead of sitting on a shelf. Apart from the GPUs which I managed to get for a reasonable deal NEW from Alternate.de This is the most standard atx case you could have probably gotten 15 years ago, just cheapo thin metal, mostly riveted, with a plastic font cover, perfect for modding. So I just removed the front plastic cover and all the pre stamped metal 5.25 inch cutouts for air intakes. With v1.1 I also added the fan in the side panel to help airflow, originally the side panel was just solid all the way. Also all the fan mounts are for 80mm fans. I guess 120mm was not a thing back then, so fan mounting was creative. If you need a Windows XP license, there is one for you on the side panel xD. Opening up the side panel, you can see the crowded interior, which was never meant to house this much and powerful hardware. In the back you can see the for me useless 80mm fan mounts. In Hotbox v1 I had a fan there, thinking it would help exhaust hot air, but placing it next to the gpus on the side panel was much more effective, so the psu fan does all the exhaust for the cpu area. Also you can see the fan directly in front of the gpus to push as much air towards them as possible, being circulated by the gpu coolers and then exhausted by the side panel fan. This setup actually allows the gpus to run without throttling in this very confined space, whereas in v1 without the side panel fan, the gpus would be constantly at 93°C and throttling down. From here you can see the H80 with its fan just sitting casually in the 3 5.25" bays pulling in fresh air from the front. The cpu is running at stock, as no cpu power is needed and hovers around 50°C idle. You can also see that the HDD is pushed as far to the front as possible to make room for the motherboard. Since the R4BE is eATX, it barely even fits along side the hdd cage. The result is the HDD is poking out through the front 3.5" floppy bay. lol Speaking of the HDD cage, you can see the traces of my modding efforts when making room for those GPUs. Below the now installed HDD would normally be another 5 bays, which I drilled out the bottom rivets and then cut out with a Dremel to allow for these beefy GPU coolers. Finally, the heart of Hotbox, the two MSI GTX 1070 Armor 8G's. I got them from Alternate.de for 450 Euros per piece with 30 Euros cashback each. So a pretty good deal considering they are going on Ebay used for 500+ Understandably so, they are running amazingly well and even at the constant 100% fan speed I set them to reasonably quiet. And they overclock like a beast as well: GPU1: 2088 MHz avg. core clock, 4325 MHz memory ~ 29.5 MH/s DAG GPU2: 2124 MHz avg. core clock, 4400 MHz memory ~ 31 MH/s DAG The overall system power draw with this config is 440W. Originally Hotbox v1 to v1.1 consisted of a MSI P67A-GD55 and an i5 2500k, admittedly much more reasonable in terms of power usage for a dual gpu system. With this setup, my power draw was 380W total. But, since I wanted to add more GPU's I swapped the Sandy Bridge rig for Ivy Bridge-E, with some disappointment. The third GPU I added in (Powercolor RX 480 8GB Red Dragon) caused so much heat and very diminished returns, making it not viable in this chassis. It barely held 1000 MHz core clock and was constantly sitting at its tjmax of 90°C. Even when pushing the two GTX 1070s down to the bottom of the motherboard with no clearance between them, and having the RX 480 on top with spare slots between it and the 1070s and a fan blowing directly at it, it would not run reliably at 100% load. So this is what I am at for now, I am probably going to go back to spec v1.1 with P67A and 2500k with Intel stock cooler, but I am also in the process of building a mining rig out of some old slat frame. This way I should be able to run the R4BE with all its pcie slots populated with pcie usb extenders to its full potential. Star of the show for me are definitely the two 1070's. For about 160W power usage each, you get about 30MH/s DAG, 0.3GH/s Lbry and 450H/s Equi, which is slightly more than an RX480/580. Granted, RX cards are cheaper, but they also use more power (about 220W in my testing). Considering energy costs are quite high in Germany, the more power efficient 1070s look like a more profitable solution in the long run. Unfortunately, I can not get any more of them new for now, since prices have sky rocketed even more. But then again, who knows how long this whole mining rush is going to hold up anyways, and if investing at this point even makes sense... At least I am having fun with some projects and am hopefully able to flip the cards for a reasonable return, in case things go south.. So what do think? RX or GTX for mining? Any way I could improve Hotbox for v1.3?
  17. Hey Guys! I have average knowledge on building PCs and currently looking into temps of my PC's Components. My FE GTX1070 reaches 82C at 75% Utilization (highest) when playing The Division based on HWMonitor, I'm not sure if that's high but I still want to bring it down a bit. I only use Air Cooling and I am thinking of adding those PCI Slot Fans pointing towards the GPU, I would like to ask if any of you have experience with this and if it is effective. Thanks!
  18. Hi, I have a question, I've being hearing everywhere about mining crypto-currencies, to get profit on bitcoin, and I want to try it. I have an old GTX 960, that is just lying around and I wanted it to put it to work. But the thing is I don't have a rig for it, and I do not want to spend money just to get a mining rig. My current system is: a Z720-A PRO MoBo, an EVGA 650g PSU and GtX 1070 Graphics Card. I don't want my 1070 to mine because I heard that it puts the cards to its limits and my cause the card to die sooner. The mother board has 2 PCI-e 3 x16 slots, its compatible with cross fire, but no SLI(also you need the same card to sli/crossfire). So my question is if I throw the card in my system will it work just to mine with that card? or will it be issues with drivers and stuff?
  19. http://www.3dmark.com/spy/2021400My previous PC was a prebuilt that I upgraded over the years with some help but it had always struggled to run modern games at 60fps or even begin to take advantage of my 144hz G-sync monitor so after getting a new job and saving up money for ages I decided to take the dive and attempt to build my own new PC. I consulted these forums for some help in selecting the parts, and here is what I came up with: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/TheStuffDanDoes/saved/yVmwP6 It may have taken me almost 2 days and at least 6 different panic attacks but the build is finally complete! Take a look at this album to see the build progress and some comments: http://imgur.com/gallery/vgPoc The first benchmarks are in too: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/2021400 I am yet to overclock the system because I am being cautious of temperatures due to the small form factor and limited cooling, but at the moment everything seems to be running smoothly. Building that system was probably one of the most stressful experiences of my life. Working with £1400 worth of hardware that I'd saved up for like a year to buy is rather nerve-racking when it's your first time building and everything feels like it's going wrong. It wasn't a pleasant experience building and there's still some kinks that need ironing out, it's definitely not a perfect system. But I'm glad it's working now
  20. 1080TI strix or two 1070 strix which is better i have a large budget and don't know which is better
  21. Hi guys, I just might have thrown away my money... Now trying to kinda-hopefully save a lost cause. So... about a week back, i bought a MSI 1070 Gaming x with a "no signal" issue off ebay, thinking at the time, that what could possibly go wrong. As i live in the middle of nowhere i just got the card yesterday. It looked in perfect condition, no cosmetic damage or anything. So i plugged it in, turned the pc on, a blip of the leds and the psu over-current safety has been tripped. Not to go for too long, i figured out, that if the card has no pcie power, the pc boots but only on the igp (leds on the msi work). - Tried only the 8 pin = psu cut out - Tried only the 6 pin = pc boots, again only on igp (msi not recognized but that's kinda obvious) Took the card out, removed the backplate (did not touch the warranty label) and measured the resistance between separate pcie connector pins Measurements: pcie 6pin resistances between +12v and gnd pins are about 16kOhms pcie 8pin resistances are 0.32ohms (0.22 of that is the resistance of the multimeter leads) Ok, so by now i figured that the card is dead... Now before i try to disassemble it and bake it (as a last resort) are there any chances of an RMA if the previous owner did not send me his original invoice for the card? My pc specs: Asus maximus viii hero i7 6700k 16gb crucial ballistix sport H100i gtx Corsair ax860i (this is what probably saved my components from certain death)
  22. Ok.... WTF man, I mean come on all I want is a PC (personal is the important part as I share my PC with my brothers so I want to get one for myself...SHARING IS NOT an OPTION) over the summer and doesn't life suck... I want it with a youtube setup for under 1,500 Dollars I don't have anything(all PC parts, monitor, peripherals, and Elgato and blue snowball)... So the important part is I heard that pairing an i5 6600K with a GTX 1080 (I wish it was a 1070 but WTF miners..) so anyway I heard that 1080 will be bottlenecked by the i5 so should I still go for it, I want my PC ASAP but... of course MINERS so waiting is really not the best option I can probably wait until like August but NO LATER... So should I not worry too much about bottlenecks or just wait in depression as time passes by to see me as an old man in a grave... and MINERS are still ON THE GOD DAM 1070s... So my main question is will prices be dropping soon? When will 1070 for miners be launched? Will the 1080 be BOTTLENECKED or not? Should I wait or not? Please if I got angry a little BIT don't report ok.... (btw never read rules and now sound like a moron now...) MINUTES LATER: Ryzen is fine btw but I noticed that for the same price you get better performance on gaming with intel (Thanks, love the community instant replies LOL...)
  23. help

I've found this geforce gtx 1070, Is it any good? https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01GRCYL6S?m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&tag=idealode-am-pk-21&ascsubtag=qGM6bjnKPD62B7yQIbDvCw
  24. So i'm looking into buying a GTX 1070 and I need a monitor to pair it with. Currently, I've been gaming on a 60hz monitor and I'm a ready to feel that 144hz goodness. My only hesitation between the Dell S2417DG and the ASUS PG279Q is that the Dell is a tn panel. My current monitor is a IPS and I'm not sure if I could go back. Price vs IPS Do I take the cheaper monitor and lose out on IPS or should I pay the higher price for the IPS? If somebody who has either monitor or just knows enough about the two of them could give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. My main question is simply if the Dell TN panel is that atrocious that I should pony up the money for the more expensive ASUS monitor?
  25. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/FJcPkT I've gone with a Ryzen 5 1600 as it comes with the free CPU cooler and looks like an all round great value for what you're paying. The SSDs while not the most efficient way to use my budget in a normal situation, they were free so I'm going to use them as my main drive with the 1TB HDD as a backup and place to store files that don't need the increased speed of the SSDs. I'll probably look to get another 500GB SSD in the future for a total of 2TB in my build. Crucially though I've decided to go with an EVGA GTX1070 sc despite potentially having to wait a while to get my hands on it I already have a Radeon 7850 1GB which is terrible imo but will still allow me to make sure everything is working and is usable enough to get me by until the 1070 arrives. Overall though I'm really looking forward to start buying my parts and moving to the next step of actually building the PC! Again huge thanks to everyone who helped on here.
