I have a list down below but I'm struggling to get it within 1000-1050 ish. I dont know a whole lot about intel and AMD's latest gen as well as AMD's GPUs https://pcpartpicker.com/list/h3fWdH Thanks for any assistance.

Hi,my budget is 1000 usd. I'm gonna do some coding,1080p video editing, gaming in 720p with 90+ fps in medium to High settings and streaming for 2-3 hours. I'll probably upgrade after 2 - 3 years.i picked out cheap parts so I could get the 1660. Also I'll stick with the stock cooler for a few months as I can't overclock. Here's my build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GXbVsX H e l p

Budget (including currency): About 1100 without GPU Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 90% gaming. I play almost all single player games. Not completive or anything, 10% normal stuff (youtube, web, etc) Other details So I have my case already. Its a ATX case (darkFlash Phantom Black) and CORSAIR iCUE H100i out of the budget. Got both on sale from Newegg when they were shellshock deals. I am going to attempt to buy a Zen 3 5600x here in a few hours. So with those bought (minus the CPU, but its the CPU I want so if I have to wait I will, and I refuse to pay scalper prices for anything. Can't fault them from making money but its just a dirty business to me and refuse to take part) I will have approx. 600 left. I do not need a GPU, I am going to use my RX 580 for a while until I can get a 3070 (or RDNA 2 equivalent when those are out and if they are competitive which I would love to have another team red pc as my first one I built was all red way back in the day lol.) eventually but it does not need to be counted in the total. I have done some research, and I think I understand I want x570, but I don't understand the difference between that and b550. I would like to have as much money left over that's possible. Even if its a 100 bucks, but it can all go if it has too. I do not want to buy used because if it breaks I wont have the money to replace it. So I need warranties. Like in a big way lol. Any help on what board (x570 or b550) is smarter for a longer use case, which ram will pair with said board and the 5600x. Probably most inportant out of all of this, I have an "OK" gaming rig at the moment. I am very willing to wait on deals and things that might help me save a penny here and there. Thank you all very much whoever has the time to read this mess and help anywhere. If not, and you just have advice or anything feel free to let me know! Thanks so much, LTT forum rocks. I have been a lurker here for many many years... Reason: I am a single child who has to live with my parents because they are both sick and disabled. My dad has leukemia, and my mom has to many to list here. I can't work to earn money normally so I do very few and far between odd jobs. I volunteer at a local food bank the only days I could be working. So income is a major issue. I won't have 1000 to blow on a new system for a few years after this so I need to make it last as long as possible, and I understand thats hard to predict. Its taken me about 2 years to get $1000. If my parents don't improve it may take me as long or longer for me to get any kind of money saved.

Ok so I know there are a lot of topics like this and I've read through quite a few but I'm mostly just looking for opinions. I know the drawbacks of a laptop vs a desktop and I've built my fair share of desktops. If I had my choice I would get a desktop but with the way things are right now and the fact that I may be moving in the near future, a laptop is just easier. I currently use an MSI GE62 6QF Apache Pro and it's on its last legs. With everyone getting this stimulus check or whatever I was window shopping in the 1000-1200 dollar range for amusement purposes and came across a few that looked interesting but naturally they all have their pros and cons. Also if anyone has any recommendations for a 1000-1200 dollar desktop build that can top these that INCLUDES a monitor, I'm all ears and can be persuaded to wait maybe. Anyways these are the three options I've come across so far. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YM938TP/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=mylaptopguide-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07YM938TP&linkId=6c6b03c359af4e8cae10d738737842c9&th=1 The helios 300 was the first one that everyone rages about that I've seen. The specs are really good for the price and most people agree, but the biggest complaints seem to be the flimsy screen/backlight bleed and the jet engine fans. I'm not unused to loud fans but everyone seems to repeat this over and over and I don't know if it's worse than what I have or if people are just used to gentle breaths of air. As for the backlight bleed, I can handle that to an extent but it would be annoying if playing darker games I'd imagine. I would also need to upgrade the storage https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GL65-Gaming-i7-9750H-GTX1660Ti/dp/B08151ZHHS/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=MSI+GE+Series+GE65+Raider&qid=1587596542&sr=8-10 The MSI GL65 was the next one I looked at as I think it was recommended on this forum somewhere for someone asking a similar question. It honestly seems a lot like my current laptop just a bit more recent. Decent specs. Some complaints are the weird keyboard layout which would be a minimal issue for me since it's the same keyboard I use right now pretty much. Also needs more storage https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Gaming-Laptop-i7-9750H-Aluminum/dp/B07Z5KP1Y1/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=msi+gf75&qid=1587596762&sr=8-6 The MSI GF75 was the last one that I so far have encountered that have caught my eye. As to be expected, it's going to be similar to my current laptop again as MSI doesn't change a whole lot aesthetic wise, but the biggest selling point for me here is the 17 inch screen. I currently am using a 17 inch screen so I'm going to be most accustomed to it, I also obviously like the increased real estate when it comes to gaming. There's usually a tradeoff between internals and the display when it comes to this but is it worth it? For those of you who have used both 17 and 15 inch screens, how much does it matter to you? Do you get easily accustomed to the 15 inch screen? Or is it a noticeably worse experience? The other obvious benefit to a wider screen is a wider base which usually means a "better" cooling solution...as better as one can get with a laptop anyway. Once more needs more storage So what do you think? Are any of these options worth the money? Or should I look into Lenovo or Omen perhaps? My current laptop is rapidly becoming useless so I would like to get something relatively soon but I'm not a stranger to patience.

I have been trying to find a good, non-gaming (I have a PC for that) laptop for around $1,000, and the Razer Blade Stealth seems to be the best looking in my opinion, and the best value at this price point. Now, the real question is, should I get it now, or should I wait for a new 2017 model to come out (if one is going to come out)? I know a cheaper model has come out in 2017 with an i5 and a non-touch display, but I mean a completely new iteration, like they did with the late 2016 Blade Stealth. I am in no rush, but if it is better to just buy it now and not have to wait, then I am all for it. Also, if you have suggestions for a better laptop than the Blade Stealth for around the same price, please feel free and let me know if you think it would be good. Thanks!

Budget/Location My budget is ideally 1000 dollars, MAX 1100. I'm currently in the USA, Colorado. Aim My aim for this PC is going to be for heavy video editing, and medium gaming. I want to have the option to get into heavy gaming, but for right now my I would probably be mostly into things like G-Mod, GTA V, or things like that. I am going to be doing a lot of video editing, though, so that's my primary focus. Monitors I am going to have only one monitor. I don't have much use for multiple monitors, but I think I might look into 2 later on. My budget is going to focus on the PC, and one monitor. Peripherals I already have a mouse and keyboard and speakers. I don't need anything more. However, I do not have Windows OS. I plan on getting a $30 key from Kinguin. Reason for Upgrading I've been running on a 500$ AMD laptop from Acer for the past six years. I have a parts list running at the moment, but I need some help on compatibilities and such. PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/khYkbj Price breakdown by merchant: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/khYkbj/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($349.75 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING 3X ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($122.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($46.99 @ Jet) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.66 @ OutletPC) Video Card: MSI Radeon RX 470 8GB Gaming X Video Card ($189.99 @ Newegg) Case: NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case ($66.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($74.99 @ Jet) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($30.00) Monitor: Asus VP228H 21.5" 1920x1080 60Hz Monitor ($109.00 @ Best Buy) Total: $1070.35 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-01-16 15:28 EST-0500 This is just a rough list at the moment. I'm not sure if I should settle for a skylake processor at the moment, but I think kaby lake has significant enough improvements in cinebench and stuff to stick with it. Also, I'm not sure how overclocking even works, and if it's worth it. So so that's basically it, just need some help improving it.

Have you ever wondered why dumb aspect ratios like 16:9 were invented? Why 1.7777777777777777777777777777:1 (aka 16:9) is good? Why our screen resolutions are a confusing number like 2160, 1440, 5120, 1080, 7680, etc...? Well, many decades ago, since different places all over the world were using different aspect ratios like 2.2:1 and 1.66:1 and 1.33:1 and other stuff, 16:9 turned out to be the average of all those. Then a bunch of people chose to standardize everything to 16:9 and made up 1920x1080. Well, I would like to say that these arbitrarily chosen resolutions and aspect ratios are horrible, just like the imperial system. There is literally no logical reason why there should be 12 inches in a foot, and 3 feet in a yard, and 1760 yards in a mile. There is also no logical reason why there should be 1080 pixels in a screen, or why it should be 1.7777777777 times wider than it is high. Or why 21:9 is more special than 20:9 and 22:9. A metric display system would improve everyone's experience with computers. Displays would have resolutions such as 2000x1000, or 4000x2000, or 5000x2000 for ultrawide, etc... Aspect ratios would actually make sense, 2:1, twice as wide as it is high. You would be able to easily divide a screen into regions, and know that half of your screen is 500px, or a quarter is 250px. Coding programs and web sites would make far more sense, 10% of a screen 1000px tall is 100px. 12% of a screen 1000px tall would be 120px. EVERYTHING WOULD BE MORE EFFICIENT! Obviously switching from 16:9 1920x1080 to 2:1 2000x1000 would be difficult, just like switching from imperial to metric measurements, but it would be a huge improvement to everyone in the world. The difference is also not that large between 16:9 and 2:1, just about 10%. This would mean living with tiny black bars when watching 16:9 content, which is not that bad. Cinema cameras already record at resolutions like 8000x4000 or other "metric" resolutions, so switching to 2:1 would just require rendering the final content at a 2:1 resolution. Fight the resolutions being imposed on us. Embrace the metric system!! Share thoughts below.

Hi all, I have recently started visiting LAN events within the UK and I am really starting to enjoy visiting them! However, my only gripe is that I have to travel with my fairly large and heavy PC all the way there and around the event etc. Anyway, I have recently got some funds together and I would like to build a Mini ITX build for these events so that I have a dedicated LAN PC. This will mean that I can just leave my "Home" PC at home and my "LAN" PC can be used at LAN events! Requirements; Max budget of £1000 GBP (I do not need peripherals or Monitor). I will probably be buying a couple of parts per month so a few £££ over the £1k budget wont harm i'm sure. White and Black colour scheme although i'd prefer more white than Black if possible. (Case should definitely be white) I tend to play games such as Overwatch, CS:GO, Apex Legends and other "LAN" type games so it should be able to easily run those with potentially some headroom for things such as Battlefield V, GTA V etc. Should have some RGB such as the RAM and Fans at least (personal preference i guess) It can be either Intel or AMD, whatever you want to suggest, go for it! Should be AIO watercooled. I am up to suggestions based on your knowledge and expertise! If you have the time to build me a full PC on PcPartPicker please do, or if you only have time to suggest a couple of parts please do as well. I will appreciate all the help I can get. I just do not want to rush into this build without getting some opinions from you guys first! If you dont take up the whole budget thats obviously okay. Im not going to complain about having money left over but its there to be spent if needs be! My current specs are in the signature below if you wanna see what my current build looks like (I kinda like corsair ;) ) Thanks for your time and i'll keep you all updated as to what I end up building! If you need any further information please ask! Thanks! Jacob

Hello, I am looking to buy a new laptop with these characteristics: - 14" - long lasting (5+ years) - not for gaming but strong enough for basic programming and day to day work - under $1000 - decent design So far I have looked into: - Lenovo (Yoga530, Thinkpad T480 or E480, maybe an Ideapad) - HP (Probook 440 or 640) - Acer (Swift5, Travel Mate P214 or P648) - Asus (ZenBook UX433) I don't have a deep knowledge in the current best laptops out there, which is why I am here. If you know which one of these are worth it, or if you know another model that is better for what Im looking for, I would love your input. Thanks
