So I recently upgraded my cpu from a i3-6100 to a i7-7700k on my B150M-A D3 motherboard. I upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS and bought some DDR3L 1.35V ram (because it’s the only compatible RAM with my cpu and motherboard) so everything should technically be okay. But the problem is that every time I open my computer, my disk goes up to 100% in my task bar (cpu is also really irregular, it can jump from 5% to 45% back and forth) and does this for about 10 minutes but goes down when I’m not doing anything. The other big problem is that when I’m doing something demanding, like playing certain types of video games, my cpu and disk goes up to 100% in my task bar and, for example, my video games will lag super hard while having something like 4-5 FPS which isn’t normal at all because with my old cpu everything was super good. I reinstalled multiple times my GPU drivers and in some games like Overwatch, For Honor, League of Legends everything is going okay. My cpu goes up to 45% while playing those games(which is unusual compared to my old cpu but is still working, I guess). But in other video games it’s really chaotic, like mentioned before. My cpu average temperature is around 40-45 degrees (Celsius). I recently installed my cooler and thermal paste so I don’t think it’s the problem. Also my cpu is running at his normal clock speed(not overclocked) at 4.2 Ghz Last thing, I recently noticed that ,sometimes, my computer turns off and restarts out of nowhere by itself. I ran multiple antivirus and there’s nothing, in this area as well. •What should I do now?? I tried everything that have been said online and nothing changed. Any tips? Which BIOS setting should I apply to make a difference to my current situation ? Do I need to do a new Windows install, will it work if I do it?? And also if I put my old cpu back, is it going to stay like that or will it go back to normal? I have a very old PC and I recently installed windows 10 [64-bit] , everything was working fine but, after a few days of installation my disk usage started sky rocketing to 100% even on slightest workload (e.g. Browsing, playing music), let alone be gaming or other heavy works. I've read and tried almost every article and YouTube videos regarding this matter but nothing seems to fix this. I'm using a WD Green 1TB HDD and I think its quite new. (5 months old) Oh, sorry but I can't post screenshots at the moment because my monitor died a few days ago. Other specs if required : i3 2100 2GB 1333MHz RAM Intel DH61WW GPU: N/A I'd really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Hi, I'm using Win 10 Home x64, the latest (Non-Preview) version.About less than a week ago, while I was playing music while gaming in my primary Drive (OEM RAID 0 NVMe) the music player (VLC) became unresponsive.I tried to launch Task Man from the taskbar, it didn't even launch until the music started playing again. On the later occurrences of this problem, I saw from the Task Man already running that, somehow, my secondary drive was having 100% load, while couldn't find the program or services that was causing that in Task Man or Resource Monitor.I also realized that during this 100% load of my secondary drive, even programs that are installed in my primary drive like Explorer was also unresponsive or very slow. What I've tried :- Reset my PC- Disabled SysMain Service- Disabled Link State Power Management/Link Power ManagementI do not know what else is to try, can anyone help?

Hello everyone! I hope you had nice holidays! I have been annoyed by this 100% disk usage for a year now and I am completely sick of it! I have read every article, reddit post and even LTT's posts on it with no solution. The computer Will lag upon using anything on one source and result in a random and weird 100% disk usage e.g: SSD (O.S + Most applications) HDD (Games) using chrome on the SSD won't cause the lag but playing a game WILL spike the disk usage. I have 2 HDDs, 1 M2 and two SSDs. At first I thought it was the HDD that was the problem but I was wrong. The reason is I switched SATA ports for both, resulted in a very long booting time (Up to 5 minutes) and using any application on the SSD or the HDD will return with a 100% disk usage. I kept doing that until the it booted fast and I tried the HDD and it was the same as the first case. I bought a 960EVO 1TB SSD this Christmas and low and behold...the same problem on the brand new SSD. It is not the HDD then. What is the problem then? I googled everything with no real solution. I disabled SuperFetch, modified Microsoft AHCPI controllers. Tried many things in the BIOS. The only time it works is when I unplug everything except the O.S SSD. Throughout all of that time researching I have noticed a few common things with this issue, I will list them for you guys. 1- The spikes happen randomly, and they freeze the entire PC. 2- 100% disk usage with 0 reads and writes, I tried Resource Monitor...same poop different toilet. 3- Sometimes, switching SATA ports constantly might solve it temporarily, however; it will come back! 4- This problem is mostly common with X370 chipsets so far, at least from what I have seen from all the posts I had. My specs: * Ryzen 1700 @3.0GHz * 32GBs of Ram @ 2800MHz * Kingston UV400 SSD 256GBs (O.S), two WD Blacks HDDs 2TB and 500GBs, Samsung 850 M.2 500GBs * GTX 1080 FE 8GBs * MSI X370 GAMING PRO * Windows 10 64 bit 1909 (Latest Update) if anyone can help this I would be grateful.

So I have a Sony Vaio laptop which is about 5-6 years old running Windows 10. I recently upgraded it's hard drive from it's original HDD to a new SSD (Kingston A400 128GB). I had previous experience with this kingston SSD since I have a second one working just fine in my PC. For the first month of buying and installing it on my laptop everything worked as advertised. I was enjoying the super fast speed of my new SSD. But after a while I saw some major slowdowns. Keep in mind the laptop was used solely for browsing and maybe watching a movie or so. No heavy tasks. The first thing I did was open task manager and there I saw that my disk usage was at 100% non stop. And that was because 'System' was the first program popig up on task manager. I tried some things I read like disabling superfetch, windows search, do a restart, check antivirus. Nothing worked. So I did a complete format and reinstalled Win10 my formatted SSD. Not wanting to overload my Laptop I installed only 4-5 essential programs ( Chrome, iTunes, iCloud, Libe Office and Popcorn Time). For a span of 2 to 3 weeks the Laptop worked fine again. But after that all of a sudden I again saw major slowdowns. I tried some things again with no results so I formatted again. The same thing happened. After 2 or so weeks my laptop is again slower than ever and I dont know what to do. Is it the SSD's fault, Do any of the programs mentioned have a history of slowing down PC's Is there a problem with some other hardware? I could really use some help.

OS: Windows 10, 64 Bit CPU: i7-4790K GPU: GTX 980 SSD: Samsung 850 Evo PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 850w I have gone through a lengthy set of tests with Microsoft Support, including an OS Refresh, to no avail. I was originally there for another reason, but this issue got in their way quite a few times, and even disconnected me from them at one point. I ran CDM and CDI, and they both seem to show that the SSD is running fine. If you are wondering about the 0.000 spots on CDM, I clicked STOP and waited about 30 seconds for it to stop because it was THAT unresponsive. <<< I do not know what is causing Task Manager to see the Disk as if it were hitting 100%, but if it is at 100% and only about 0.5MB/s is being used, it will still be as unresponsive as if it were at 100% while doing 200MB/s, or even higher as CDM shows. I have watched Task Manger and it is literally every time it says the Disk is at 100%. >>> Update: This portion doesn't seem to be a problem anymore, even though Task Manager still shows the Disk being at 100% at times still. The CDM picture was taken with R.A.P.I.D. Mode turned on (I turned it on for testing purposes, and thought something was a little odd), but even still, I decided to reinstall Samsung Magician in case I had an outdated version. After reinstalling it, it no longer happens every time it hits 100% in Task Manager, but it does still happen, even with it being as low as 0.4MB/s. I am going to uninstall Samsung Magician entirely to see if that solves the issue. I have uninstalled Samsung Magician and... So far no problems. This is interesting. At this point, I am pointing my finger at Samsung Magician. You will see two graphs on Task Manager, and one shows 0KB/s Read and 0KB/s Write. This was when Samsung Magician was installed and I was running CDM. The second graph was when I closed CDM, which took about 30 seconds to do and looks more standard for usage. What does Samsung Magician do to cause that to happen? It seems useful to have installed (Especially because of Over Provisioning), but the problems it seems to cause are just not worth it. Is there a way to fix this problem that Samsung Magician seemingly causes? TL;DR - I started typing this when I felt like I was out of options, then I thought "Wait, there's one thing I haven't tested", so this changed from trying to find out what was causing the issue, to believing the one thing that supports the SSD is what causes it, and how to prevent it from causing it when installed. That's some irony.

This is my problem. Whenever i enter any games like (CS:GO, PUBG, Factorio, World of Tanks) The main menu lags. Like lets say i turn up PUBG the fps is very low while launching up the lobby it goes from 20-30 FPS back to the normal 60 FPS and stays there and i can enter the actuall game and it dosent lagg ath all just normal 5-6 FPS drops here and there. And The other problem is whenever i press Stuff like Replays Options Leaderboards or anything in games like that my Main Menu/Lobby FPS goes from a stable 60 FPS to 5-10 FPS it feels like a skiped frame or just really bad lag its duration is like from 1-2 to 5-10 Seconds. Later research i found out that sometimes when i launch up a game GPU usage drops to 0% and CPU and Disk usage spikes up to 100% and goes back to normal after 2-3 Seconds. Once More Gameplay in all of these games seems to be normal. I had a problem with FPS lag spikes while playing actuall games aswell ath random times 5 minutes in or 2-3 hours into the game the FPS would go from a consistant 120 Fps to 20-30 for 5-10 seconds and would go back to normal. The thing i did to fix this was turned on Max pre rendered frames to 4 in Nvidia setttings. And i turned off Scheduled Optimatization in HDD settings that somebody suggested and it fixed the problem. My PC was built a week ago. Fresh Windows 10 installed. Everything done by a Pro ath a local company. I asked a few questions about Air flow. Components not bottlenecking anything and he sayd everything is going to be fine. And The problem is now if i give it back for repairs/Diagnostics they gona charge it a lot + usually the just say buy this new bla bla . EDIT: Random Spikes in CPU/GPU and Disk Usage: Whenever launching up games Disk Usage spikes up to 100% and goes back. Disk Usage High Aswell with random Windows programs/background apps. I Found out and monitored sometimes whenever i press something in a game menu lets say in PUBG CPU would do a wierd 100% spike and the GPU usage would go to 0%. PC Specs : i5 8600k GTX 1060 16 GB DDR4 2400Mhz RAM 1 TB HDD WD blue [I know i should have a SSD aswell but no money atm] Aours z370 Ultra gaming Mobo 650 W PSU Idle and Game Temperatures seem to be normal while playing the game. Things i tryed allready and stuff that usually triggers events like these : 1.)Temperatures are normal for playing games. 2.) GPU,CPU, Disk Usage seem to be normal. 3.) Mobo. , GPU, Windows drivers are up to date 4.) Fresh Install didnt fix it. 5.) After Re-launching the game up again dosent fix it. 6.) Disk usage spikes up when launching up the game and goes back to normal. 7.) Checked HDD health everything was alright. 8.) Installing Old GPU Drivers the problem is still there. 9.) Backwards Installing old Windows 10 update problem is still there. 10.) Disabling Windows Antivirus defender problem is still happening in games 11.) Enabling V-Sync in games dosent fix it or Lowering the Settings to Low/medium. 12.) SuperFetch preFetch Disabled. 13.) Nothing Overclocked. Searching the net for the last week since i bought the PC and cant find anything. Not in the position to go out and just buy other components. (Was saving up for this PC for 6 Months) If anybody has any ideas what to do or sugestions what to try pls replay to the topic. tl;dr --> PC was bulit a few days ago > Everything Freshly installed > Re-Installed all drivers a few times> Main Menus Lag in games FPS goes from 60 to 10-20 fps and when i press stuff like settings leaderboards Lobby duration of it is 5-10 seconds > Temperatures Fine for gaming. CPU GPU Disk Usage Wierd. Picture 1) Disk Usage While Laucnhing a game Picture 2) While Leaving a game/exiting

Hi all, I was hoping to get a bit of brainstorming help on my issue. I recently updated my Windows 7 machine to Windows 10. Here are the main specs: ASRock 970 Extreme4 mobo AMD FX 8120 Radeon R9 270x 500 GB HyperX Savage SSD 8 GB of G-Skill 1866 Ares DDR3 RAM Ever since the update, there have been periods of about 30-60 seconds where the machine freezes. I can still move the mouse around but cannot click on anything, even to open Task Manager. Once I do open it, I see 100% Disk Usage just dropping back down to 2-3% usage. The RAM seems to sit around 30% usage a lot of the time too, which feels pretty normal. I also had brief instances of the graphics adapter crashing but it recovers and hasn't done it since I uninstalled and re-installed the latest drivers for my graphics card. I've tried stopping Superfetch, adjusting settings in Google Chrome as some sites suggested that was the culprit, chkdsk (which found no errors or bad sectors), and making sure all updates are installed. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it for good, please? Thanks so much, in advance. Digitalduck22

Greetings! I have a Lenovo Y510p laptop, and the Hard Drive is : ST1000LM014-1EJ164. I'm not sure if it's just really sh*t, or if it is windows or another program is causing the problem. I have set a custom Page file size, didn't seem to do anything. I have also disabled Superfetch and Windows Scearch processes, it didn't solve the problem either, it just made the 100% spikes intermittent. It happens randomly where the highest transfer rates are at 3.9 MB/s. This is slowing my computer down terribly. I'm thinking of buying a Western Digital Back² drive(A drive Linus reviewed a while back), if I can't solve this.
