So I recently upgraded my cpu from a i3-6100 to a i7-7700k on my B150M-A D3 motherboard. I upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS and bought some DDR3L 1.35V ram (because it’s the only compatible RAM with my cpu and motherboard) so everything should technically be okay. But the problem is that every time I open my computer, my disk goes up to 100% in my task bar (cpu is also really irregular, it can jump from 5% to 45% back and forth) and does this for about 10 minutes but goes down when I’m not doing anything. The other big problem is that when I’m doing something demanding, like playing certain types of video games, my cpu and disk goes up to 100% in my task bar and, for example, my video games will lag super hard while having something like 4-5 FPS which isn’t normal at all because with my old cpu everything was super good. I reinstalled multiple times my GPU drivers and in some games like Overwatch, For Honor, League of Legends everything is going okay. My cpu goes up to 45% while playing those games(which is unusual compared to my old cpu but is still working, I guess). But in other video games it’s really chaotic, like mentioned before. My cpu average temperature is around 40-45 degrees (Celsius). I recently installed my cooler and thermal paste so I don’t think it’s the problem. Also my cpu is running at his normal clock speed(not overclocked) at 4.2 Ghz Last thing, I recently noticed that ,sometimes, my computer turns off and restarts out of nowhere by itself. I ran multiple antivirus and there’s nothing, in this area as well. •What should I do now?? I tried everything that have been said online and nothing changed. Any tips? Which BIOS setting should I apply to make a difference to my current situation ? Do I need to do a new Windows install, will it work if I do it?? And also if I put my old cpu back, is it going to stay like that or will it go back to normal? Hello all, Recently I have been noticing an unusually high CPU usage (ranging from 40-100% on some games) and my GPU is not being used at it's maximum performance. Therefore, I believe that my CPU is being favored, but I am not sure why as I have had no issue like this before. Some of the games that I've seen this issue present are on Minecraft and Fortnite... but not Valorant or CS:GO nor Overwatch; I am not too sure if these two games are CPU dependent but is there a way to change this or fix it as it causes the game to hitch and stutter whilst I play. Additionally, there are time where my pc blue screens after closing an application, a few of these include yet are not limited too: "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT", "FAST_ERESOURCE_PRECONDITION_VIOLATION". "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION", "KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE", "KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION", "BAD_POOL_CALLER", "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION", "RDR_FILE_SYSTEM", "VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR", "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT", "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" ect. As far as my countless hours of research have gone, I have found little to nothing as far as the CPU *overload* issues. Furthermore, the constant BSOD are so unpredictable that I could be writing an essay and my pc would crash . Currently I am running on the following specs if this helps: CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti FE XPG DDR4 D60G 16GB (4x8GB) 3200MHz Samsung 980 series - 500GB M.2 Seagate BarraCuda 2TB HDD at 7200RPM Corsair CX750F RGB, 750 Watt, 80 Plus Bronze, Fully Modular MOBO: ASUS ROG Strix B550-A AMD AM4 ATX CPU COOLER: AMD Wraith Prism (came with cpu) If there are any possible solutions to this issue, I would greatly appreciate the feedback from the community! One last remark I'd like to state is if the CPU is perhaps bottlenecking the GPU? I don't know an exact answer to that, however, most people say that the CPU and the GPU used in my current system should be just fine. Also, would it be maybe that AMD has integrated graphics which both games are favoring?

For around 1 week now, my 3900X (with a MSI X570 Gaming Edge WiFi motherboard) has always been on 100% usage on task manager ever since I ran cinebench for the first time on my new PC. However, according to the MSI Centre application, the CPU usage is nowhere near 100%. Consequently, task manager is also causing the CPU to use the turbo boost, likely causing higher temps + louder CPU cooler. i have searched the internet for solutions yet I can only find people with the same issue who use the same CPU and motherboard that I am using. I do not believe this is a virus related issue mainly due to me not visiting anything suspicious in anyway, but also, I have done many virus scans on my PC, yet I find nothing. I hope someone out there can help me out.

Hey folks, I have the issue that sometimes the IDLEDISABLE state of my power configuration is overwritten by some nasty application I can't find. For a bit more context: The IDLEDISABLE setting is a hidden power setting of the energy plans in windows to completely disable the idle state of the CPU resulting in a 100% CPU load (spin wait) while the actual load of the CPU should be lower if you do the math in the task manager and add the load of the processes together. This seems to be a known issue for instance for some occulus software or some strange configurations where the IDLEDISABLE state is set to a wrong value *once* per login or per application start/end. Still a hassle but something which is easily workaround-able by using a simple batch/powershell/whatever script to reset the IDLEDISABLE state in the current power plan to it's initial and right state: PowerCfg /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_PROCESSOR IDLEDISABLE 000 PowerCfg /SETACTIVE SCHEME_CURRENT So, when this issues happened at first I simply put a batch script somewhere which I just executed when I notices that something was wrong and soon (as I'm lazy by nature) I put that just into a schedule to be executed once every 5minutes, which worked for a (long long) while until today when I installed some (driver) updates for razer, nvidia, AMD chipset and some other stuff cause I thought "why not, the updates are there for a reason to make things better ..." - turns out, the issue with the IDLEDISABLE is back and worse than ever. Now completely random the IDLEDISABLE is set to 1 and even set back to 0 without any obvious pattern. Sometimes it's 1 only for a few seconds causing a minor spike in the load, sometimes it's stuck at 1 for a long time -- If you're curious how to get this information use this command in power-shell (it has 2 settings, one for AC meaning normal AC power supply and one for DC which is only relevant for mobile devices running on battery): PowerCfg /QH | Select-String IDLEDISABLE -Context 1,6 I already did the usual full course of "trying to resolve strange windows issues by doing seemingly unrelated stuff which might or might not fix something" like: * Resetting the power plans * Running scf and dism to find/fix issues * Way back I actually reinstalled completely but the issue came back after installing some software Now that you know the full story there are actually only 2 options to get rid of this issue: 1) Identify *somehow* the software/driver/whatever which randomly sets the value and YEET it from the system (if it's not crucial). 2) *Somehow* Forbid the overwrite of this option system-wide. Maybe there is some super-secret edge-case group policy thingy in Windows where I can prevent the power settings to be tempered with. So my questions would be: Except the good old process of elimination do any of you know how to get information on applications tempering with system settings like super verbose logging or something where I could identify which application is messing with my settings? Does anyone of you know how to restrict the power settings (or the access of applications to the power settings) so that the apps can still *try* but it just doesn't mess with my system any more? And if you have any other idea, please feel free to share - maybe they might help Thanks Alex

So, I just updated my PC and, after restarting, the CPU was at 100% usage, and I heard a lot of rattling from my PC. I have an Intel i5-4690k OC'ed at 4.1 GHz, with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO as the cooler, with my case being a Phanteks Enthoo Pro M. Is this something to worry about and, if so, what could be the problem? My PC boots off of an SSD.

So a few days ago i was playing Rainbow Six Siege and i got bsod I dident read the code or whatever for some reason and i just continued on. But then when i started playing again i noticed 100% usage in my cpu so now i knew my cpu overheated normally this never hits 100% I will list a chart Rainbow Six Siege- 50-60 Usage Fortnite-45-55 Usage Roblox-15-30 Usage Also My Specs are GTX 1050 Ti Intel Xeon W3540 2.93Ghz 4 cores

A few days back, I decided to upgrade an old Acer Veriton m6610 to Windows 10. As well as adding a used GTX 960 2gb, to maybe use it for gaming here and there. Immediately after the upgrade, as well as a restart, checked Task Manager to see if everything seemed well for the i5 2400. This was when I saw the 100% CPU usage. Curiously though, I wasn't experiencing slowdowns anywhere, so I decided to check how much CPU usage HWMonitor would report, and to my surprise HWMonitor was showing CPU usage on any of the cores to be 0-15%. I've combed over some other forums' answers on lowering CPU usage after an upgrade to WIN 10, but none has worked so far (at least for Task manager to not show 100% all the time). Changing startup programs around, Windows Clean boot/startup, uninstalling - reinstalling drivers and applications, disabling some services (reenabled them after since they showed no difference). Spec Sheet - All the programs were installed on the system when it was still Windows 7, and Task Manager would report CPU usage to be at 1-3% during idle then. - The program with the highest CPU usage isn't always the same, it changes from anything to anything (System services, Open programs, Antivirus, NVIDIA suff, anything). Any recommendations on lowering the CPU usage, or ideas on why Task manager is saying it is on 100%?

Please help me out you kind people! HOW DO I FIX THIS PROBLEM?? I have constant spikes or they just run like that all for extended period of time. I build my friend a computer just at the end of 2017 (before Ryzen!), with a 7600k CPU and the asus strix 1070. The first couple of days it worked perfectly, with 100+ Fps on Overwatch, but when he tried to install Rocket League, the game only ran with 1-2 Fps. The next day he couldnt even run Overwatch (0-1 Fps). I then made him check task manager at, and he said that it the CPU usage was at 100% constantly (80-90% from Overwatch, 10 or so from Discord). I then searched the webs and found only people wondering why the CPU usage was so high, but none had less than 70 Fps. The motherboard is a h270 so no overclocking (his choice). System specs: i5 7600K Asus Strix 1070 Asus ROG Strix H270F Gaming G.Skill FlareX 16 gb Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Any help would be greatly appreciated, but it may take a little time for me to response, cause i dont have the computer that close.
