Holla, I'm looking to build a roughly £600 gaming pc as an upgrade from a macbook air. Want high performance in the latest games and to be fast and reliable for schoolwork and editing. Here's one I put together - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DD9gQV Looking for improvements on this or possibly completely different suggestions for a build. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I've been looking at buying a £600 (Inc OS, Mouse, and keyboard) gaming PC to play things like Overwatch but I'm not 100% sure about the components I've chosen. I'm currently thinking an Intel i5 6500, 8GB RAM, 500W PSU, and an RX460 but I feel like I'm not spending enough of the budget on the GPU. What do you think? Thanks, MDW13

So I'm looking to build a new PC as I'm getting back into gaming but I've been a bit out of touch with hardware and components as of recent as I've been at college. I've heard good things about certain things and bad about others and so on and so forth, but I don't really have a great knowledge as of yet. I was hoping someone would be able to help me choose components for a build that meets my 'requirements'? So my budget is around £600 - £750 (Inc. Windows 10) and I'd like to be able to play most modern titles at 1080p 60fps+ ideally. Everything cranked up to mega ultra settings isn't really a priority, but if the games can look nice that's always a plus . I play games like GTA5, Arma 3, PUBG, etc. I also do audio production so I need something that's quiet but has good cooling. In terms of storage I'm looking for something like a 3TB HDD, I'm not too bothered about SSD storage. My only other preferences for the PC is an mATX case as I only have so much desk room. Hopefully someone could help, it'd be much appreciated.

Hey all, I am looking for a new laptop, general everyday use not many requirements, just looking for something that will be best value for money and last a while. Will be used for some general work needs (own business) but limited to mostly administrative (accounting, spreadsheets, etc)/browsing general use, not planning on gaming on it, maybe a little photoshop but nothing serious. Laptop below ive had hands on and likes the feel, not certain that specs are best for money though so looking for some guidance on alternatives (also only 14" screen): https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-ip320s-14ikb-14-intel-core-i7-laptop-256-gb-ssd-grey-10169399-pdt.html Budget is around £600 (GBP), places to buy such as: https://www.ebuyer.com https://www.scan.co.uk https://www.amazon.co.uk https://currys.co.uk Requirements: Minimum 250gb SSD (pref 500gb), alternative as 250gb boot drive with some HDD storage 15.6" display, 1080p if 14" is highly recommended then may be flexible on what I end up with. Good WiFi card as will only connect using WiFi 8gb ram min (because,.... chrome) Good OEM support for updates on drivers Needs good build quality including trackpad (pref windows precision drivers) If there are any suggestions on potential laptops I would like to hear them so I can compare and make a better informed choice, its been a long time since i looked at laptop hardware and not so familiar with it anymore. Thanks Precept

Hi, there I am planning to build a pc by the end of this year. I was looking at a pc around £500 although if its worth it I would wait a bit to spend more money. here is my original idea. pls, do share your thoughts and what to change. CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 ( Would consider a 1300x or ryzen 5 or maybe even an intel) £73 GPU: GTX 1050 ti ( should I save up for a 1060??) £150 RAM: 1x8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000 £75 PSU: Corsair CXM 450w £48 MOBO: ASUS Prime B350-Plus £75 Case: Corsair Spec alpha £50 Storage: Kingston A400 120gb SSD (in addition to the 1TB wd Black) £24 =£499(of course pc components prices can change ) What would you change or just generally what are your opinions? thx for reading this

Afternoon all, I'm torn whether to get this monitor or not, it's got all the bells and whistles but I've heard quality control is abysmal. Seen loads of pictures of bad back light bleeds and for it's price I'm not sure its worth the risk. I know the Acer and AOC have the samish panel in their models but like the navigation on the ASUS and the stand. My question to the community is, is £600 justified for the monitor. I've a 1080ti, i7740X setup, play RTS ultra settings, Diablo 3, Heroes, Warframe and PUBG shooters now and again, I do no graphics design or image workloads. Bare in mind I'm moving from a 1080p LG 7 year old monitor so open to suggestions of alternatives or if i even need IPS, Gsync, 144hz. Thanks

Hi all, Long time browser of the forum, I am currently building up a PC for someone in my workplace with a budget of £600-700. It is mostly going to be used to run CAD, office suite, emails, photoshop and some light 3d and rendering. Generally I would like to stick with intel processors rather than a ryzen. I have opted for a 7600k due to it being rather cheap at the moment with options to overclock in the future (not that it will be needed really), with a fall back to an earlier i5 model if costs rise. Here is my current build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/wRhmYr Just wanted some opinions on the build, I dont think we need a dedicated gpu at this time. any help or advice would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.

so this is my first time ever building a pc and I have no idea where to start and what parts to get my budget is around £600. I mainly play league of legends but I want to be able to play more games with good fps. please help

This is my first ever Actual Computer. I currently play on an ASUS Gaming Laptop which is now failing my needs. I'm requesting you guys help me pick parts for me to build a new Computer. It would be nice if you could reply with ideas or any suggestions. If you're going to help pick parts it'd be nice if you could use a website like PCPartsPicker. 1. Budget & Location My Budget for this build is £600. I live in the UK and am wanting a Gaming PC! 2. Aim My Aim is to build a Gaming PC to be able to run 1080p gaming with most games at Medium - High Graphics with 60fps or more. I'm not a Minecraft gamer, I am wanting to play games like, Battlefront, Battlefield, Rainbow Six Siege. 3. Monitors I plan on running 1 Monitor able to play at 1080p, but maybe upgrading to (Not for a while) 2 - 3 monitors in the future. 4. Peripherals I will be choosing my own Keyboard, Mouse, Mousepads, these will not be apart of the £600 budget. The monitor which you will be helping me pick, will be apart of the £600 budget and it will need to be able to play 1080p. I do not want to use Solid State Drives in this build due to saving money for other things, I'll be using a 1TB Hard drive. I'm not bothered about a fancy windowed case with LED's and having it all colour schemed. I just want to be able to play games. I do not need a CD Tray as I already have one. I will need Windows 10. 5. Why are you upgrading? I am upgrading due to my Gaming Laptop needing better RAM, GPU and other components to play games.

I'm helping my friend build a new PC for Photoshop and other graphic design programs, as well as some light gaming. The budget is £600-£700 and an OS is needed. Thanks for your help.

I'm helping my friend build a gaming PC with a maximum budget of £600. Here's what we've come up with so far: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/7QJRjX Is there anything we can change to make it cheaper, or get better performance?

HI everybody, I'm going to be helping my step brother build his first gaming PC. We have a budget of around £600. He's going to be using this PC mostly for games such as: *Battlefield 3 & 4 *CoD Black ops *Minecraft *Fifa Whilst he doesn't need to have an amazing PC, he would ideally like to be able to run these games on at least medium and if possible, high settings. Parts Here's some parts which I'm debating already: CPU: Intel 4690k (£177) Motherboard: GPU: Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (£45) PSU: XFX 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular (£60) Case: Fractal Define Design R5 (£70) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB (£41) Link to Part Picker: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/dxTq23 I had more options when I built mine as I had a higher budget. But as I'm only working with £600 it's more difficult trying to ration the money. I personally have the above PSU, Case and RAM and they've been brilliant so far. I also want this PC to be future proof. He's only 16 at the moment and still in school, so he can't afford to upgrade to expensive components immediately. He will need to save up and upgrade over time, but I want this build to be a good set up for the future. I was debating getting a GTX 970 but as they are £260 it would take up a large amount of the budget, but having one myself they are fantastic. If possible, he would also like a black/blue colour scheme and a case with a window panel. Summary Run most games at least on medium settings and if possible high. (Not expecting games such as The Witcher 3 or GTA 5) Black and blue colour scheme with a case that has a window panel. Budget of £600/$950 Future proof build. Thanks for reading. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your responses. If you need any more information, please feel free to ask. Regards, Ian.

Challenge:- How cheap can you pick up these parts?
xvantok posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
My challenge: how cheap can you find all the below parts? (2nd Hand/refurb/sale/etc accepted) More rules and details below Soooo I don't have a huge amount of money to pick up my planned PC and the situation just turned critical as my laptop just died after 5 years of loyal service and I'm am reduced to my iPad... This was my planned build when buying new parts as I figured I had some more. Time to save up me moneys, but I don't so here we are: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£180.99 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£41.99) Memory: Avexir Core series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£49.99) Storage: Sandisk Solid State Drive 64GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£33.54 @ Aria PC) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£37.99 @ Aria PC) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (£146.99 @ Novatech) Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Orange ATX Mid Tower Case (£57.50 @ Aria PC) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£38.87 @ Scan.co.uk) Total: £587.86 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-03-02 00:11 GMT+0000 The motherboard is sourced from here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-347-GI&groupid=595&catid=689 And the RAM is sourced from here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-078-AR&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 And I also have a buddy with a windows 7 disk and if that fails I'll grab the windows 10 technical release. Soooo, I need a relatively good CPU for 3D work/animating/rendering, video editing and Photoshop, etc. I need a relatively good, wallet-friendly, graphics card so to play most games at 1080p high settings. 8 Gigs of RAM is standard but doesn't have to be avexir, but must not just be a PCB. I would ideally have an SSD but that is not extremely nessascary and I need 1TB of storage for general work etc. I want a relatively reliable PSU cause it pays off in the long run and the efficiency rating will hopefully keep some components last slightly longer. However this is a wee bit (significantly) over what I have at the moment, so.... I live in the UK which has less 2nd tech shops, etc but I was wondering what discount/refurbed/2nd parts you can to drop the budget that are equivalent or better than the ones listed, without a good reason. Also has anyone else bought a b grade overclockers UK item? Are they reliable? And what do you think of the parts? Good luck
