I have successfully installed Ai Suite III on my P8Z77-V board. It is a lot more stable and not as slow as the old version. As far as I can tell everything works. I have looked for this for a long time so I thought I'd share. I used this guide: All credit goes to xator on the rog forums: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?33367-Asus-AI-Suite-III/page3

i'm wanting to upgrade my current system to something with a bit more beef, but can't afford an i7 build. i'm currently using an AMD based 6-core machine, but am thinking of getting the 8350, or something like the i7's (quadcore, 8thread). i learned that the Xeon E3's can fit just fine in a z77 board, but i haven't really heard anything about gaming on one. i plan on just swapping the mobo & cpu in my current system, but keeping the rest as is. i do not plan to OC anything, it's WAY too hot where i live, and it would probably melt, or explode if i did. if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Current specs: FX-6200 DerpDozer cpu w/ Corsair H55 cooler AsRock Extreme3 990fx board 2 660ti's in sli (1 pny, 1 evga, matched clocks) Thermaltake 850w 80+ psu 16gb HyperX blu @ 1600 OCZ Vertex 4 128gb ssd 3tb WD Black drive @ 7200 and a really expensive cup holder. (blu-ray drive) some questions i have: Does anyone have any experience with xeon gaming? Does not using a Server/Workstation mobo cripple my performance in any way? If i needed the server board, is it SLI compatible? (everything i've read only mentions quadro's) With the Dual Lan on server boards, can i plug 2 cords in the wall and get faster interwebz? i'm pretty sure i left a few things out and also have more questions i just couldn't think of them atm.. Thank you :D

So I have a Quickfire TK keyboard which requires me to press the NUMLK in case I want to use a few keys such as delete insert, home etc... The BIOS for the Z77 MPOWER requires me to hit delete to access it but that's not possible with this keyboard since the NUMLK key is unresponsive outside of windows. In my 990FX Sabertooth either del or F2 would grant me access to the BIOS so I didn't have this issue before, on this board pressing F2 doesn't appear to be doing anything. Is there any alternative key to del that I should try ?

I just got a ASrock Z77 extreme 4 for an upgrade for my motherboard (current cpu is i7 3770k) and the board won't boot up. When I plug in my Ethernet I can see the yellow lights and some other lights on the motherboard but nothing starts up?

I'm looking to get a new motherboard for my PC and the Asrock Z77 OC Formular is so far looking like the best choice for me. I'm currently running an i7 2600k (looking to overclock) with a GTX 780, however in the future I'm wanting to add another 780! Anybody have any experience with this particular board, from the reviews and videos I've seen, it seems like a good board! What are your guy's opinion on it? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0090KIJFO/ref=aw_ls__1?colid=Q1I2GS303JC8&coliid=I10A2OCT10G4DE http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/z77%20oc%20formula/ Thanks in advance!

So guys I've just bought an i7 2600 + 4GB of memory on the cheap to upgrade my aging core 2 duo system. It's currently running on an H61 M-ATX board which I intend to use later for a prodigy build. The H61 board doesn't allow any sort of overclocking, no partially unlocked multiplier is present and the base clock is completely locked. So I'm looking at getting an M-ATX board, an M-ITX MSI or Asus z77 to be able to up the frequency by 4 bins, overclock the BCLK slightly & then enable MSI's Enhanced Turbo or Asus's Multicore Enhancement which would hopefully allow me to take the 2600 to 4.2Ghz+ on all cores. My question basically is do these turbo features even support Sandy Bridge LGA 1155 chips ? or do they require Ivy Bridge ? I know for a fact that these exact same features are enabled on X79 and work on Sandy-E.

Hey guys, very quick question here. I'm wanting to purchase the MSI Z77A GD65 Gaming motherboard, however the problem that i'm having is that its hard to find. The only two that i have found were on Amazon (Out of stock) and on Eclipse Computers. Anybody know of any retails or places that I would be able to purchase this motherboard, I've looked around and cant find anywhere. Since i'm in England, UK sites only please. http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=MBM-Z77AGD65G http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-LGA1155-Z77A-GD-Gaming-Motherboard/dp/B00C5V9W2Y/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1395525535&sr=8-12&keywords=msi+gd65+gaming Thanks in advance!

So, as part of a theme change and upgrade I'll be doing over Spring and Summer, I've had to source a Z77 Sabertooth to paint white. The only one I came across was part of a bundle with an i7 3770K, and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance memory - used. (Don't worry, it was a legitimate, experienced eBayer, the parts are around 12 months old, I have the receipts) I managed get all of it for £200...that's a good deal, in case you were wondering. Used i7's regularly go for around £190 on eBay on their own... Anyway, I was thinking, now that I have 2 3770K's, is it worth de-lidding whichever turns out to be the better performer/outputs the most heat? I have insurance in the form of a second i7...if I fail it just means that I can't sell it, which, while not a big deal, is money that would have gone into a Phanteks Enthoo Primo/Luxe, Water cooling, and a GTX 880 (when it comes out).

Two years ago I had very small idea about computer parts. I got a PC off ebay with a 3770k with a crappy motherboard that I can't OC with. Two years later I am thinking about upgrading my motherboard to a Z77 ASrock Extreme 4 (its on amazon for £78, $129, €94). I wanted to know if it is worth the upgrade so I can OC, SLI, SATA3 6.0 Gb/s for my SSD and other stuff or should I wait till haswell - e? but I think the 3770k can last me 2-3 more years in the gaming world. My current motherboard is a ASUS P8H61-MX

Hello there, I just have a question. Because I want to build a new build and I still don't know which motherboard is better I'm between asus maximus v formula and asrock fatal1ty z77 professional. And which one is better for overcloacking and easier to use bios?

Greetings everyone! Previously I started a discussion about my future build to be (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/33012-my-future-beast-of-a-machine/). But now I'm starting to wonder if it would be worth to go to the Z77 platform or wait and see what kind of compatibility will be available for Z87. I will be running into some money soon (I don't know how much) and would like to buy some parts soon. I would like to buy the Motherboard, CPU and Memory before I buy a GPU. I really just want to have the system running before I invest in a GPU (Unless I had the money). Please Note: If you read the previous blog post you would know I already have a lot of parts already. Thanks and every bit of help is greatly appreciated!

So here is my situation. I am in the final stages of assembling my first build, I only need to install the CPU and it will be up and running. However I have never navigated the BIOS before and don't want to kill a great system with bad configuration. I recently purchased a Seagate 2TB HDD and a Corsair Neutron GTX 120GB SSD. I have never configured a system before, I don't want to screw it up. I want to put the OS and a couple of Apps/Games on the SSD and use the HDD to store the rest of the games/movies/music/pictures/other files. Over the past month or so I have done some research into things such as Raid etc but none of these solutions seem to apply to my situation. Are there any videos/advice anyone can give me that will explain installing 1 SSD and 1 HDD on an Asus Z77 better?

So what do you think it's better? I'd like to here your opinion! :)

Recently in a video I saw someone overclocking an ASUS P8Z77 Board and Ivy Bridge K Series CPU with AI Suite II Is this a very good solution to overclocking or would it be recommended to do it through the BIOS? Thanks

So I have this i7 2600k that I have for my build but devil's canyon is right around the corner. Should I get devil's canyon with z97 and have the upgrade path for broadwell or stay with my i7 2600k with z77 and wait for skylake? The extra money won't make a difference for me and I will be pairing it with a GTX 780.

Is it possible? I am looking to do a cheap, riskless overclocking rig with my leftover Z77 Pro3 and some other stuff and I was curious as to if it was possible. Also, should I get a Celeron G1620, Pentium G2020, or a Pentium G2120?

This might be a silly question but I was wondering whether or not it would be possible to run a 2600K on a Z77 board. Apparently it will work, but will there be any stability issues? Will there be any extra features that I would gain by running a Sandy Bridge chip on a Z77 motherboard vs P67?

Asrock Z77 Pro4-M : OC Problem
DESPERADOtheREVIEWER posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello everyone. I'm currently working on a build inside the Corsair 350D together with Axon.Modding (Shop with sleeving, tools, heat-shrink etc. - www.axonmodding.com). I ordered the Asrock Z77 Pro4-M. I'm using my old i7-2600k with this and I'm having issues with OC'ing. First, I was very surprised to find out there is no standard VCore voltage adjustment (just offset) and the overall OC experience is very different to something like an MSI or Asus board. I used this guide to OC and followed every single step:http://www.overclock.net/t/1198504/complete-overclocking-guide-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-asrock-edition When I go into Windows I use Prime95 or OCCT to torture test the cpu whilst looking at temps and info in CPU-Z as well as HWMonitor. Even with a low OC of 3.6GHz, the multiplier drops to the stock 3.4GHz after about 7 minutes or so. I tried several things but the multiplier keeps dropping. My temps are just around 56 degrees Celsius at full load. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks- 3 replies

Hello Internets, So as some may know from my Blue/Black HAF X build post, I am planning a blue/black gaming rig. Now having sorted my case out, definitely going with a HAF X and replacing the red fans with blue ones, I have one other smaler aesthetic issue. the motherboard. Currently I am planning on using either a ASRock Z77 Extreme4 or Extreme6, but neither of these really suit the build. even though they are both predominantly black, they also have assorted yellow accents that while im not overly picky about do disrupt the look in my opinion. So my question is, what are your guys suggestions for motherboards that fit better with the colour scheme while being in the same price range as the two boards I listed above. Thanks for your suggestions, tharrison14

Hello! I have been stalking around on the forum since the beginning, and now I have a couple of questions I really hope you guys can help me figure out. 1) The "Power phase LEDs" on my MPower z77 are kinda freaking out. When I have the computer set to "high performance" all of the LEDs are on, never changing, but, when i have it set to balanced it constantly flashes between only 2 being lit, to all. On, off, on, off and so on. Looks like i have a small flash inside my computer. I don't think it is the mobo, because I had this problem on an earlier MPower z77 aswell (all the rest of the components where the same ones). 2)A couple of my USB 3 ports in the back does not work, and I can't figure out why. I do not think they are physically broken, although then it would be the "Logitech Unifying dongle" who broke it, since it was the first component I used in the ports <_< 3) How loud is the graphics card supposed to be when at 30% fan speed? All of the other fans in my computer are completely silent (turned down all the way), but when it is quiet i can hear the GPU cooler (GTX 680 Lightning) quite well... (Is there any safe way to turn it even further down, except putting it under water? ) Hope for some relevant answers! Specs: Cabinet: CM Storm Stryker MoBo: MSI Mpower z77 CPU: Intel i7 3770k Cooling: H100i with Noctua NF-F120PWM fans (Inspired by LinusTechTips) Thermal grease: Artic Cooling Silver 5 GPU: MSI GTX680 Lighting Sound: ASUS xonar DGX PSU: Corsair AX760i RAM: Avexir Mpower 32gb cl10 1600mhz @1.5v w. breathing yellow LED. So I have a little project that's nearly finished, but I'm missing three critical components. The motherboard, CPU, and CPU cooler. I'm open to AMD and Intel on this one but there are some important factors that I'm looking for 1: Color scheme: Black and Red. Matte black is acceptable. 2: Form factor: Must be mATX. This build is in a 350D. 3: CPU cooler: Must be an all-in-one 240mm cooler (H100i, H220, etc) 4: Overclocking: I do plan on pushing whatever I get as far as it'll go on the cooler, so a decent mobo would be preferred. Aesthetics are important on this one and the ideal build (if money wasn't a factor here) would be an Asus VI Gene with a 4670k and an H220. Spec List Thus Far (already owned, using an i7-920 as a temporary): - MSI GTX 770 Gaming - Corsair 350D - Corsair SP and AF quiet edition fans all around - Corsair AX760 - Corsair 8GB Vengeance Pro - Kingston HyperX 3K - WD Caviar Blue 1TB For those who are still reading, I'll give up an extra copy of Hotline Miami to the person who provides the best deal and or best argument within 24 hours. (Edit: The Hotline Miami copy is now in a giveaway here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/60430-hotline-miami-giveaway-courtesy-of-helping/)

At the moment i am planning on getting an AsRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard for my intel i5 3470. I am going to be using this for gaming and would like to spend around £100. Would you get the AsRock Z77 Extreme4 or AsRock Z77 Extreme4, or something else ? Thanks.
