Hello, I've been running my I5-3570k at 4.2GHz for a while because that seemed good enough for me but today I wanted to increase it and try to see how far I could go only to notice that I cannot increase the multiplier any further than 42 while I have seen people increasing it at least untill 44 on this motherboard with this cpu. I am using: I5-3570k (stock speed 3.4GHz, used to run it at 4.2GHz, currently through the BCLK increased to 4.41GHz) asrock z77 extreme 4 motherboard running the p2.90, latest, bios version Windows 7 home premium 64 bit deepcool lucifer cpu cooler 16GB ddr3 1600MHz ram inno3d ichill gtx 970 (overclocked) corsair cx750 750watt psu 1tb wd black hdd 120gb samsung 840 evo ssd and some interface devices (usb hubs and an optical drive) It just won't let me set a multiplier above 42, if I do it in the bios it will just change it down to 42 when I press enter after typing the number, Asrock extreme tuner won't let me put the slider above 42 and cpu-z indicates 42 as maximum multiplier. Does anyone maybe have any idea how I can increase it further? (yes, my temps are safe and my voltages are also still not anywhere near high) Thanks for anyone who would take the time to help me or even take time to read it.

Allright so, my GPU is starting to fall off and would like to upgrade, however I wouldn't mind some new benefits of newer boards. So my question to you is, which upgrade would be more worth. As for what I will do with the PC it would be Heavy Gaming, light artwork, rendering videos often, and lots of Multi Tasking when not gaming. Current PC http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hKT8qs Upgrade PC http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YXQtyc New PC http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2mc2GX Important Things to note -the reason the new PC does not have a case is because I will be using the old HAF case up until the Cooler Master Master Case from Computex releases, as the aesthetics, quality side pannels, optical drive bays, and handles is what grabs my attention. -anything that has the same parts as the previous build is what will be reused/salvaged -the reason I did not go from z77 to z97 is because of the Price Gap between the z97 and the X99 1.The z97 Sabertooth with every extra part needed (sound card, wifi-card, 16 GB Ram, 4790k) was $785 when in comparison to the X99 (Board with onboard Wifi, upgraded sound, 5820k, 16GB Ram) is only 907, and X99-A is 844. that 50-100 dollar price difference is not an issue -I will go with the REFERENCE 980ti to paint the cooler to fit the color scheme -The parts that would be left behind would be sold to a friend so there is little money lost there in replacing -The Haf Case will need replacing as 3 of the USB Ports dont work, some minor scratching, missing parts, and soundcard is needed as the onboard sound is inadequate and the ports are not functioning with my speakers/headsets so its a broken part which can be fixed with the card anyways -on the x99 I will refuse to run the 970, bottom line

None of the USB ports work, not even in the bios... I bought this motherboard for $70 used (knowing about the USB problem) and none of the ports work (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), not even my case's ports work. I'm able to get around the computer using a PS2 keyboard and an iPhone app as a touchpad. There's power coming out of all ports (can charge phone from them) and I hope this is a hardware problem. Latest bios (1.80) is installed. So, my brothers mainboard broke down a couple of months ago, and he's been saving up since. The time has finally come to get a new board, which I have to help him with, the problem being that the only Z77 (He has an i5 3570K) board available right now, is a Sapphire "PURE Platinum Z77 PT-CI7Z77". The only thing I know about Sapphire products, is that their GPU's are quite decent. Which leads me to the main question: What about the Motherboard? This thing needs to last at least about 2½ - 4 years. My own MSI Z97-GD65 has lasted me 3 years, and they're around the same price range so it doesn't seem unreasonable. And yes, it's a must to get a Z77 chipset... Thanks in advance!

My current build is in my signature, but I'll list it here in case this post gets long. CPU: 3570K CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer i30 Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Pro 3 RAM: 16Gb (4x4) Kingston Hyper X Anniversary edition 1333Mhz Others don't really matter, they will not change. Story: My motherboard is dying, at least I think it is, the warranty is far gone, for both the CPU and Mobo. Some time back I had issues with audio and ethernet, audio would just suddenly cut off, I had to disable and re-enable the device from windows playback device management. Sometimes there was sound looping when the audio cut off. As for the ethernet the computer would just not detect a cable between the PC and the router, though that could have been the router. I have not had either issue for about 4 months now, but still, I am worried about the longevity of my components. I was initially planning to buy an identical motherboard, but my order was cancelled because they simply ran out. My budget is currently ~600€, I live in Finland, I have only just started making proper planning so I don't have much yet. My target is to get a Z170 build, that way I will surely not have a similar situation on my hands where I can't get a replacement component down the line. Incase something does start showing signs of dying, and I won't necessarily have the money for a new chipset. I wish I could afford a 6700K, but right now I can only do a 6600K as I also need to get new RAM, I might get some from selling my CPU and current RAM, and possibly even my mobo (my friend might be interested in it, and he knows it might die soon). Depending how much I could ask for those I will change my plans. Only have one build in mind ATM, here it is. PLAN 1 CPU: 6600K Motherboard: Asus Z170-K RAM: 16GB (2x8) Crucial Ballistics Sport CL16 1920Mhz (?? not sure about speed,"Bandwidth: pc4-19200"That is what is says on the site.) Image of what the prices are in my 'preferred' store, I say preferred, but it's not. NOTE: everything in image is in Finnish. PCPartPicker link TL:DR (I hate you for not reading...) 1. Is it wise for me to upgrade? Should I wait for prices to change? 2. Any better options for hardware? Needs to be buyable in Finland, any store that delivers it here will do, take into account shipping if recommending something like Amazon. Z170 is preferred, read if you want to know why. 3. Do I need a new cooler? I think my current one should work just fine, but I am not sure. 4. Ask for details if I missed something and answer questions 1, 2 and 3.

I am going to be moving into college soon, and I've been thinking about downsizing my Phantom 410 to a Hadron Air. I have a full size mobo and an i5 3570, so I need a smaller board to fit. When I went on pcpartpicker all of the good boards were out of stock, and the ones that weren't looked pretty bad (low end or foxconn). What do you think my luck is in finding one of these boards? Thanks!

Where can I find a new or used Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard? I know Z77 has been out for a while, but I have an i7 3770 that I don't want to waste. I tried searching it on NCIX, Newegg, and Amazon, and have turned up blank. I live in Canada btw. If any of you guys can link me to it, then it would be greatly appreciated. (And I'll give you a 'like' lol). Thanks

Hey guys! I'm super new to overclocking. As the title states, I've never done it before or seen it done by anyone other than the stuff I've seen on YouTube (that's not real life). So, I went into my BIOS and tried overclocking based on what I've seen on the ASUS channel and what Linus could show me. I'm pretty sure I did everything right, but in CPU-Z I'm not seeing any changes. And it's showing my RAM at 980ish Mhz instead of 1866, which was how I set it in the UEFI. Maybe it's not the most reliable tool to be using to view my overclock changes?? Maybe I'm not doing something right?? Any help is always appreciated. Thanks! Happy New Year!!!

Hello all! I finished my new system not too long ago and I am slightly concerned about one little thing. My motherboard (a z77 from ASUS) is not supporting the XMP profile for my RAM (HyperX Fury). I swapped out that kit with an old 8GB kit from Corsair and the XMP was automatically selected for me. The problem with that is, my new RAM is a 16GB kit and it matches my system build. The FIRST thing I did was try updating the BIOS. So after flashing the BIOS (which went surprisingly fast) there was still no XMP selection in the UEFI. So of course, I checked the BIOS version to be sure the flash had actually worked. Sure enough it did. So am I outta luck here? Obviously my manual doesn't specifically state that this model of RAM is supported, but the RAM didn't exist when this board was manufactured either. And there is a lot of support for different types of Kingston RAM. I guess it's not the worst thing in the world to be stuck at 1333Mhz, you could argue that I may lose latency due to higher clock speeds, but any help is appreciated as always. Thanks! Have a nice day!

I am planning a future build and will be using a M-ATX board. I plan to SLI in the future and want to run the second card in the lowest (4th) slot. This is to stop the top card being chocked. I plan to keep my existing CPU which is an i7-3770K so I will need a Z77 board. The only Z77 board I can find that has a PCIE 3.0 X8 slot at the bottom is the Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3, whilst it looks like a great board I have noticed that it only has a 4pin CPU power connector, not an 8pin. I did some googling and have found very mixed opinions about whether a 4pin connector is good enough. So, since I won’t be OCing will the 4pin CPU power connector be ok for my CPU?

so I recently (today) got my Z77 Mpower motherboard, just for the sole reason of overclocking, I used to own an H77 motherboard and it was a stupid beginner mistake when i got it with the 3570k and now I'm a beginner again when it comes to over clocking so far I got to 4.0 Ghz at 1.1V, I tried going to 4.2 but it just crashes or blue screens, I don't know what to do now, should I bump more voltage? put in mind that I'm using a 650w PSU, all of my specs are in the sig bellow, I haven't updated the motherboard, I will when I get around to it lol anyways, so yeah what should I do now?

I took some photos of it with my trusty camera and I wanted to share p.s : im not sure if this is the right section since the photo/video section is basically talking about cameras. http://imgur.com/a/UVQZZ#Q9BsphO Enjoy! this is before painting the yellow accents red!

My z77 mpower exploded some days ago (one of the voltage converter) so i try to contact the retailer where i bought the board... but the retailer closed his store so i ask the MSI support how i can replace my defect board (bought it 5 months ago). But MSI just say that they are sorry that there premium board broke after some month and they can´t help me because the don´t do direct RMA´s on mainboards and i have to talk to the retailer if i want a new board. So i write them a new email where i write again that there is no retailer anymore witch i can contact... they write me back that there is no way that they can help me and that it´s probably anyway my fault and that there are outer manufacturers if i´m not happy with there support so i should buy a new motherboard from them Did anyone have suchlike experiences with the MSI Support or any suggestions what i can do next?

So, I'm upgrading ofcourse Atm, I have a P8 B75-M LE motherboard from ASUS with an i5 3330. I'm thinking of buying an i7 3770K, but everyone says I would need a Z77 motherboard for OC and stuff. I'm thinking of buying an MSI Z77 in an near future, but for now, I'll pair the 3770K with my old mobo. My question is: will it work? Will I have any probems? I'm currently in the graphics cards "department" and primarily spending my time on that, so I'm a bit behind on the mobo & CPU side.

I'm upgrading and I need a blue themed microATX Z77 motherboard for my PC. I have a Fractal Design ARC Mini R2 so a normal ATX board won't fit in. Things I look for are: quality (duh ), good overclocking ability, a side USB 3.0 connector (if possible), good fan-header positioning (if possible.), blue themed. That's mostly it, thanks in advance B)

Hi guys, here's my predicament : I'm currently on a Z77 based system from 2012 and I'm running a single GTX 670 on my Gigabyte Z77-DS3H Motherboard. But I would like to upgrade to a 4K monitor from my old 1680x1050 Apple Cinema Display which requires quite a bit more oumph in terms of GPU horsepower. So I want to go from single 670 to Dual GTX 970's in SLI. Problem is my motherboard was one of those budget Z77 models that only supported Crossfire on a 16x/4x bandwidth. So since I'm not ready to invest in a platform upgrade just yet, it's only been 2 years, is it worth spending ~€100 on the Z77X-UD3H just to gain SLI support if I wish to go 4K/1440p G-Sync ? Thanks !

I know this is an odd question but I really hate the default theme for this BIOS, it is a special kind of ugly and I was wondering if there was a way to change it.

Hello, Is there any risks of damage the socket's pins by installing a heavy heatsink of 870 grammes ? This is my Scythe Mugen 2 Revision B 2100 model on my MSI Z77A-GD65. I had it installed for two years, and a week ago I had to sent my mainboard back to RMA. The error was 55 on the debut led that means something about the ram happend, and, clearing the cmos was impossible because I couldn't even do it before while the mainboard was alive.
