Really wierd issue thats bothering me, i recently purchased a Vengeance pro rgb 3200mhz 2x8 kit. When i install the kit on the first channel A1 - B1. The pc fails to boot with XMP. When i put the kit on Channel A2-B2 the pc boots fine with XMP on, everything fine, can pass prime95 ram stress with no sweat. Why can't i boot on the first channel with this kit? is there something wrong with MB? My old kit with 2x8 3000mhz from corsair boots fine on the first channel. Specs: 8700K @4.8 on a Asrock Z370 Gaming K6, latest bios. tried cmos and issue still persists, if i lower the frequency to 3000mhz the pc boots fine on first channel. Is there any downside to using the second channel?

I have kept it off through software. Once i press power button aura sync is getting turned off. With RM750x liquid cooler is turning on only after i press power on button. Please tell me what is the expected behaviour, what i am getting is it proper or do I have any issue with motherboard. Please tell what is orientation of fan, switch in RM750x. Weirdly my RM750x switch is operating in reverse compared to normal switches we see!!Thanks in advance Being a laptop user for long, I have very limited knowledge on motherboard cabling.

Hi, I am going to upgrade my motherboard but I am slightly confused. I was wondering which one of these were better, as I cannot really understand. Some people on the internet say the VRMs are bad and are realy hot, but I don't really want to do editing, only gaming. So, can you help me pick form these: MSI Z370 PC PRO GIGABYTE Z370 HD3P GIGABYTE Z370 Aorus Gaming K3 many thanks

I recently purchased a cablemod addressable RGB LED-strip. I kinda of messed up the installation few times. Connecting it to the 12v RGB header instead of the 5v addressable RGB header, probably backward as well. The strip didn't come with a manual but after a while, I figured it out (I think). It's now installed in the 3-pin "ADD HEADER" and I turned on lighting in the BIOS. However, the strip doesn't light up. Is it possible I straight out broke it by installing it incorrectly? My MOBO is an ASUS STRIX Z370-E

So I am doing a massive system update from an ancient (7 year old) AMD to the i7-9700. I ran all the parts through multiple compatibility checkers, talked to friends who have more building experience than me, and everything seemed to work. So, I built the system up, went with two 16gb sticks of 3200 mghz vengeance pro ram (slots 2 and 4 on the mobo). Got all the wires correct, and on 1st power up, i get system lights, and fans, but NO video, I have an m.2 installed that's totally blank, and unplugged all the other drives. on the error screen i see a few numbers flash, but it stays on code 18...i looked in the manual, but have NO idea what 18 means. Can anyone please help me, this is driving me insane. the only things I had plugged in were literally my gpu, two ram sticks and m.2 (and front io, and that sort of minimal stuff) Mobo: z370 Classified K CPU: i7-9700k Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200 mhz M.2: Corsair 960gb 300 series CPU cooler: H100i extreme If you solve my issue I will literally send you 10$ over pp for saving my sanity.

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to PC building. I had my custom built PC for a while that I built myself thanks to some guides on YouTube but I never got my fans' RGB working. I have 3 LL120 Rgb fans from corsair and a Gigabyte Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 Mobo, and I was wondering where to plug the 4pin female cable from the fans (I guess it's for the Rgb). Like I said my fans work perfectly and I've never plugged the Rgb because idk where. (Fans : corsair ll120rgb, Mobo : Aorus z370 gaming 5) Tyvm, Christopher

I have a 8600k and a 2080 Ti, and I need a motherboard to go with them. I am not sure which one to get. I was going to go with the Asus Z370-A, but I didn't like the colours, then I thought about the ASRock extreme 4, but I read that the PCIE slots aren't very reinforced. I then thought about the Z370-F, but the review for that weren't great either. I was going to just go with that but then somebody linked me this: https://www.overclock.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=99753, and on that the Z370-F is below the Z370-A. So now I am completely stuck. I have been asking about this on reddit, but I wanted some fresh opinions, so I thought I would post it here. I was hoping to buy the motherboard tonight (about 7 hours away where I am), and any feedback or suggestions would be great. Preferably I would like to keep it under £200.

I pulled a Linus and dropped my 8086k in my socket. When bending back L-29 (VCC or Power Supply) the pin broke off. Anyone experience this? From what I have read it will hurt my overclocking “maybe” but should be fine over all. Not wanting to risk an 8086K I already ordered a new motherboard but at this point I am just interested in learning more about how the socket works and If it might still be ok.

Hello, I am currently saving op for my first gaming rig featuring an i5 8600k. But I'm debating on what motherboard to choose. I don't really have the time to check for features on every single motherboard because I'm in my final year of high school. So my question is, what are the general consequences of cheaping out on a motherboard? Does it affect overclocking performance? Is internal/external I/O negatively affected, as in do you get significantly less and/or worse ports? Are there any nice-to-have-but-not-necessary features that I will miss out on? And lastly what motherboard do you recommend for a budged option and what motherboard for a more expensive option? Thanks in advance Joost

I noticed Hardware unboxed showed siginificant worse performance on z370 compared to z390, due to power limits, he did turn them off, but there was still a performance gap. I have pre-ordered the i9-9900K and waiting to install it on my z370 board (sold my i7-8700k) but looks like im going to wait a little while as Intel have stocking issues in Norways retailers. Hence should i go ahead and try and sell my z370 board to buy the z390? He did say in the video "cheaper"/"lower end" z370 boards, and i have a MSI Z370 Gaming M5, not exactly low end, but not very high end either (180$ now on amazon, 200$ msrp). Is my board good enough to sufficiently power the i9 wtihout bottlenecking it? Thanks in advance

Intel Core i7-6700 or i7-8700? Both non-k. AMD Radeon RX 590 (once released) Samsung 960 Evo 500Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200 2TB Next kraken M22 120mm AIO Micron 16ATF1G64AZ-2G1A2 DDR4 2x8GB NZXT white H500i I'm building my new PC. I have a Dell Xps 8900 with an i7-6700. I was wondering instead of using the 6700, I can sell the dell pc and get me a i7-8700. Upgraded specs from the 8700 and now i can now use a z370 board. I don't mind using the 6700 but would like to have this build for awhile. My question would be is it worth the upgrade with advantages of upgraded performance and be able to use the z370 boards. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! P.S. I'm using 16gb of memory that was used in the dell XPS until ram prices drop hopefully in 2019. I'm pretty sure it would work with a z370?

So I'm looking to build a new pc on the intel platform. But right now I can't figure out where in the world which z370 board has 7.1 audio. They all say it, but I only see for 5.1. Can anyone help? This is an example of most of the boards I seen. https://ibb.co/jR74cm And this is an example of the board I need. https://ibb.co/k0JzA6 I would be gratefull to anyone who could point me in the right direction in order to get the proper audio, without having to buy a sound card again. Thanks

Hello, i'm considering purchasing the 8700K and overclock it, but i don't know which manufacture is good and which is bad, and if you can recommend a motherboard (z370 or z390) that cost less than 200$ and can overclock well. thanks for the help

Hello forum users! I just came here to ask if it would be possible to flash a bios onto the MSI Z370 Gaming M5 to include support for the new i9 cpus. The problem that I have, is that I don't have a cpu to put in the socket to use. If it's not possible I'm just going to buy the cheapest cpu for the socket I can, but I'm just wondering if it's possible, without spending the money.

Here's the question we all know and love to hear every year. Obviously it's not out yet and I understand that. However, from what we HAVE seen so far, should the cheaper prices of the 8700k and Z370 motherboards warrant not upgradint to the 9700k for perhaps marginal improvments? A lot of deals are around as October 19th approaches I wanna know everybody's opinion.

Asus ROG z370 Maximus Hero with 9700k or 9900k?
Franks Box posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello- I love the feature set on the Asus z370 Maximus X, but am concerned with upgrade path. Generally speaking I think most are aware the budget z370 options don't handle the i9 9900k well, however I keep finding mixed results on the higher end z370 boards with 9th gen cpus. I know this board handled the i7 8700k well (it has one now) Question is.. how does this higher end z370 board handle 9th gen intel chips? Anyone running this motherboard with either the 9700k or 9900k? how are your thermals (VRMs too?) and if overclocking how much voltage is needed to keep a stable 5Ghz? From what I've read so far, the z370 Maximus Hero does a respectable job getting the 9900k to flex fully however higher voltage seems needed when compared z390 boards. I have the Liquid Freezer ii 360mm AIO that has a VRM cooler that does drop VRM temps a bit (half gimmick, half feature according GN lol) but I wonder if the the VRM cooling here would be more valuable. Would really appreciate any anecdotal info and shared experiences!- 3 replies

Hi all! I have been having lots of bluescreen issues lately, and from what I can tell it appears to be CPU related. The errors frequently change, but the most common I get is driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. I figured this was due to an unstable overclock, but after hours of tinkering I eventually set my bios to defaults and tried running prime95 only for worker #6 to consistently fail. I have already reinstalled windows (blue screened several times during the process), disconnected all secondary ssd's, reseated both my ram and gpu, as well as cleared cmos and updated bios. On the bios update page I noticed there is a note to update the intel rapid storage technology driver, but it looks like I don't have that on my install of windows. My specs are as follows, and I have attached everything seemingly relevant from prime95. I think I may have a dead core, but I wanted to see what you all think before I go and buy all new hardware. Thanks in advance! NOTE: The cpu has been stable at 4.8Ghz @1.34v for the past 2 years, I started having issues roughly a month ago and it has only gotten worse up until today Aorus z370 gaming wifi (rev 1) Intel 8600k (cooled by cooler master 120mm AIO) 2 x 8gb 3600mhz Corsair vengeance ram msi duke 1070ti EVGA 650 GQ psu local.txt stress.txt prime.txt results.txt

Hi all, wanted to ask for suggestions on what CPU and RAM I should upgrade to. I want to get into 1440p 60+hz AAA gaming on max graphics settings Specs are below. Mobo: Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 CPU: i5-8600k @4.8Ghz CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Ti Duke (Will upgrade to RTX 2070 Super) RAM: HyperX Fury 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 x2 HDD: WD Blue 2TB, Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB SSD: Adata SX8200 Pro 1TB, Samsung 860 Evo 250GB PSU: Seasonic M12II-850 EVO I don't really want to upgrade to CPU that will require me to get a new MOBO for compatibility, but been seeing some stuff saying that 9th gen i9's have some performance issues on Z370 boards? Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you.
