hello guys i'm almost done planing for upgrading my build . i have an msi z370 tomahawk . and i don't know what to chose 8th gen or 9th gen , i'm afraid that the 9th gen won't run good on my motherboard ( i'm not planing to overclock it ) or that the 8th gen is better . so what do you think guys ? .

Hello together: My Story: I am going to build a FreeNas system, chosen side is going Intel with the 9100F. My Problem, I wanna built in a HBA x8 (Host Bus Adapter) and a 10GB NIC x8. So I am in need of an Motherboard which is capable of delivering 2 x8 PCIe slots. So chipset Z370 or Z390 are the only ones remaining. I have tried to find MoBo with my needed config, but I am not finding anything. The ones I found are all running in dual mode with one Slot in x4 mode. Example (Z390 GAMING X from Gigabyte) So If anyone in here knows a MoBo with my needs (Price max up to 150€ if possible), i am very thankful. PS: Please don't mention the Supermicro Boards. They are out of my price range. Gratefully, Christian

**nvm i just found on lmao im blind as sh*t* So ive been looking for some z390 monoblocks (getting a 9700k), there isnt very many i could find, i found a monoblock for the asrock z370 taichi, I was wondering if anyone knew if the boards vrm layout is the same so i can use the z370 monoblock on the z390 board, or if i should just be safe and get the z370 and do a bios update. I would like to go with the z390 board if possible though, just for the m.2 heatsink & extra usb plugs in the io (not really a fan of usb hubs xd) (also some extra rgb reee lol)

So I just manual overclocked for the first time today, gpu was simple with afterburner (its at 7,000 memory and 2035 core), but cpu I have some questions about. I followed this guide: https://overclocking.guide/gigabyte-z370-overclocking-coffee-lake/ up through step 4. I did not touch uncore or voltage levels. I set my core to 46 and saved and exited, here's the result of my half hour stress test: https://imgur.com/a/lKzpSLh . Onto the questions : 1. Does it matter that I didn't change the uncore/voltage levels if it still went to 4.6 stable? 2. With how low the temps are, should I try changing the clock ratio to 50? 2a. If I do this do I have to change the voltages then? 2b. If I go with the 50 clock ratio, can I just follow the rest of the guide info that was used for the 8700k including uncore and such? Here's my build: I am planning on buying another 8gb ram soon also. Hello all! So i just purchased all new parts to make a gaming PC. The motherboard I got is the Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7. The processor I got is the i5-9600k. Unfortunate to me i was under the impression id be able to get to the BIOS and update the MB to support the new CPU with just booting with a USB in. No luck so I'm pretty sure I need to find an 8th Gen supported 1151 CPU and boot first. The code I am receiving on the board is 18. Does anyone know if this is the culprit or if there is something else going on? Okay. So I’m planning on upgrading my CPU from a super hot i7-8700k to the new i7-9700k. I know the the cpu is compatible with the motherboard, a ASUS ROG Stric Z370-F, and the socket works and it’s all fine there. But will I run into any issues with bios? Or say if I try to overcloak would I lose some effeciency?

I cant decide between Gigabyte Z370M D3H, Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming K3 or Gigabyte Z390 UD for overclocking. In my country D3H is priced around $163 when we convert, K3 is $193 and UD is $180.I dont know if i should be spending more money on Z390 or that Aourus Z370. I want MB that can OC my cpu to 5GHz stable.

So here we have a build, that is working, but not as expected. Be quite silent base 801 (3x140mm fans) Corsair rm550x Asrock z370 pro4 I9 9900k Be quite shadow rock 2 cpu cooler Ddr4 16gb 2666mhz cl15 kingston hyperx Evga gtx1070 sc Ssd: samsung evo 860 500gb, toshiba tr150 480 gb Wifi card on pcie Rme hdsp 9652 on legacy pci Initially i had i7 8700k in this setup, all working perfect. Swapped for i9 9900k with latest bios 3.30. Aaand i got a BSOD every time. Random bsods. Default bios setting doesn't work like it should for i9. Lowering manually processor speed in bios oc menu to max 4.2 ghz on all cores and bclk 100 helps. But i can't get more than this numbers. Wtf? I9 in default turbo should get 4.7ghz on all cores. Performance test also showed cpu performance lower than usual for i9 = 15000+, instead of 21000+ Temperatures of cpu and mb are fine. 30-36 celsius in idle. Cpu in cinebench 80 celsius short peak. First i thought psu is not enough. Pulled out every component. leaving i9, one 8gb ram stick, system ssd alone. Even in oc till 5ghz, 550 watt should be enough, as i9 5ghz is about 250-270 watts. Sooo, loaded bios defaults... No result... Bsod every time till cpu frequency lowering to 4.2ghz. Where should i start? Change motherboard, psu or have i "bad" i9 chip? Asrock z370 pro4 have 10 phases, but those really are (4*2)+2. Now I'm thinking motherboards vrm not getting right voltage for i9? Can it be?

Ok so my new build is going have a 8086k. My question is there any benefit to getting a z390 instead of a z370 motherboard? Thanks in advance for the input.

Hello, I'm new here, and I have a couple questions about upgrading my motherboard (and is it necessary to do so ). A couple months back I built a PC in China, and after some retailer bs I am stuck with a Asus Prime Z370-P paired with an 8700K in Australia, with no hope of getting a replacement at all. I use my PC for light gaming, a bit video editing and composing. My specs are: i7-8700K Some unbranded 120mm AIO from China Prime Z370-P Kingston Valueram 2x8GB kit (XMP doesn't work) Discontinued Colorful GTX 1070Ti (OCs well) 120G Unbranded SSD 1TB WD Blue 600W unbranded PSU Unbranded case that looks just like the walmart PC case, just smaller, less airflow and no room to do cable management. Under normal daily use I leave the front panel off. Recently I've become really interested in overclocking and benchmarking, which is the reason I really want a better mobo. Currently I'm running 5GHz at 1.31v manual settings on my 8700K (I haven't tweaked much stuff yet), thermals are at around 70-78C in XTU, so I can push my CPU further. But I am concerned about the VRM on my mobo, even at the settings I am running them on now. 30 seconds after the XTU benchmark, I put my finger on the vrm heatsink and found it extremely hot to the touch. Clock speeds didn't throttle, but I only tested for about 15 min, so I don't know if they are going to throttle after like 1 hour of rendering. But I think its more secure if I upgrade my mobo so the system can last longer and vrms don't burn out. First question is, is it really necessary to upgrade the mobo? The prime mobo has 4 sata ports, bad vrms and I've used up nearly all of the fan headers. But it works, and my system is already really high end, so.... Second question is, what mobo to buy? Prices are pretty high in Australia, Aorus Gaming 7 for 526 AU WTH! I looked at a MSI SLI Plus mobo for 208 AU plus shipping, the VRMs on the board look promising (8+2 phase) and you get 2 PCIE x16 slots, so I can SLI if I upgrade again. Then theres an Asrock Fatal1ty board for 225 AU w/out shipping from a sketchy retailer, but it has 8+4 vrm and more features http://ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/product_info.php?products_id=160057 Is there any other boards for around the same price that has more features and more powerful VRMs? These are the only boards I can find w/ the features I want at a reasonable price I'm really hesitant about what to do here, because my brother is getting me a late Christmas present and I don't want to spend too much or waste his money. Thanks in advance

I was hoping that I could get something cleared up before I spend money on some new and larger HDDs/SSDs. My motherboard is an AsRock Fatal1ty z370 Professional Gaming i7. It has 8 physical SATA ports on the board, as well as 3x m.2 ports. I am currently only using SATA drives, and do not plan on buying any m.2 drives. I was thinking that I'd be able to buy 8 separate drives and have them all work, but upon reading the specifications on AsRock's website here, I'm not sure if that's possible. Now, will this only be affected if I were to buy an m.2 drive (this is what I'm hoping), or can I only have a max of 6 drives on this motherboard, even if they're all SATA (this is what I'm thinking)? I feel like I already have drives plugged into SATA3_0 and SATA3_1, but I haven't looked inside my computer since I built it over a year ago, so I could be wrong.

I had recently found out the PSU on my X99 system gave out, and probably took out the poor ASUS X99 Deluxe II motherboard with it .... fingers crossed, hoping my 32GB of DDR4 RAM is still alive. For that reason, I am prepared to get a new CPU + Motherboard if things turns for the worst. I am deciding on which CPU to get: i7-8086K, i7-9700K, or i9-9900K, paired with a motherboard that is comparable to the X99 Deluxe II in features, and overclocking capability (e.g. no crappy VRM system). I thought about going with the X299 platform, but it might be too steep in price. Plus, 12+ cores seems a bit excessive for what I really need (difference between WANT and NEED). Considered Ryzen as well but...these considerations: My EK custom loop currently does not support socket AM4 / TR4 / LGA 2066 (might need to get a hold of EKwb to send me an adapter kit) 32 GB (8GB X 4) of DDR4-3000 CAS 14 G.Skill RAM; not sure how nice Ryzen will get along with those JUST got a quick phone call update: Confirmed X99 motherboard is toast, but RAM is still good. What Z370 / Z390 motherboard would you recommend to pair with the i7-8086K / i7-9700K / i9-9900K ?

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my Desktop soon, meaning new mb, CPU, cooler and RAM. I'll probably go with the ASUS Prime Z370-A II for mb and the i7-9700k for CPU. Since the mb doesn't support the CPU without BIOS update I will need a separate CPU just for updating. I'm trying to not have to spend another 120€ for an i3-8xxx.. I read about AMD sending old Ryzen CPUs to those that have a new one for updating. Is there such a offer for Intel too? What do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance Ian

So I currently have a gigabyte B360 HD3 mb with a an i5 currently in the socket. I'm wanting to upgrade to an i7 8700k and noticed that the socket needed was an LGA 1151, a socket that my current mb has. However, I have read elsewhere that the i7 would require a z370 mb and the b360 wouldn't cut it. I was wondering if I am able to put an i7 8700k in my current mb and save moneys Thanks in advance guys!

Hi all, I just installed some new RAM in my ASUS Z370-A II mobo and now it's deciding not to boot. I do have access to the BIOS but it refuses to boot past the ASUS logo after BIOS. It fully recognizes the RAM and they are installed in the correct slots. I have moved to two 16GB sticks from four 8GB sticks. My new RAM is the G.SKILL TridentZ RGB. I have flashed the BIOS, and made sure that all defaults were loaded. Sometimes, instead of refusing to boot past the ASUS logo, I will get the logo and a "preparing automatic repair" thing from what appears to be Windows 10. This isn't the first problem I have had with this board as it will periodically stop recognizing some of my USB devices after booting. Any help is appreciated!

While pulling out a psu cable, i knocked the usb 3.0 plug out of my mobo and a pin fell off. I'm not using this mobo anymore but I want to either sell it or give it to a friend. Does anyone know an easy way to fix or counteract this like a usb 3.0 pcie thing? I think msi asks a $45 return and replace fee for stuff like this so any thoughts on anything cheaper? Its a MSI z370 gaming m5

Hi guys, I'm building a new PC and i need EVGA z390(or 370) FTW motherboard for that. Problem is, I live in Slovakia, and no retailer is selling them here. Only option is to get one from EVGA, or ship from US, but that would cost me more than $400. My question is. Do you know any retailer in EU selling those which ships to Slovakia, or know about somebody selling one of them willing to sell/send me one?
