  1. I'm looking to replace my Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, after some research these 2 (Redmi Note 10 Pro 128/6GB and Samsung A52 128/6GB) seem like the best choice for my budget. The price difference is around 50 euros (the A52 being more expensive) and both seem to be great phones overall, but each having it's pluses over the other. My pros and cons of the phones: Note 10 Pro: Pros: - Bigger battery (5020mah vs 4500mah) - Bigger camera sensor (108mpx vs 64mpx and better more realistic color tones than A52) - *Top placed 3.5mm jack (vs bottom) - Maybe the side/button fingerprint scanner (vs the under screen one, but A2 Lite has it on the rear so haven't used the other - one thing I got from tests is it unlocks faster than A52) - Dual SIM plus dedicated SD card slot (I use the SD card slot and having an open second SIM slot is nice, but not a deal breaker alone) - IR blaster - *Supposedly better display (both are Super AMOLED and besides 120hz on Note 10 Pro vs 90hz on A52 I've heard/read that Note 10 Pro's screen looks better and is also brighter (max 1200nits vs max 800nits on paper but also from real usage by the reviews)) - Slightly faster CPU? In comparison tests it doesn't seem to be any difference or slight at best - *Supposedly better quality and also louder speakers? - 33W fast charger - *Cheaper! Cons: - *Unstable MIUI? There's always some negative experiences for everything but I've noticed a lot of complaints on MIUI especially around 12.5 and 13 (I'm on Android One so I never used MIUI) - *Less update support on Xiaomi in general compared to Samsung, the Note 10 Pro being last years model it says on Xiaomi's site that it'll get updates until 2024. or about up to Android 13 and MIUI 14 - *No OIS - Slightly bigger than A52 (not a huge difference but still - not a deal breaker) A52: Pros: - *Better camera software and OIS (most tests show the A52 making just slightly better pictures and videos with better stabilized videos and photos especially noticeable in night photos and recording, only downside are cooler almost blue-ish tones compared to Note 10 Pro's more realistic tones) - *Cleaner and more stable OS? (No adds or other bloatware like MIUI, but I don't know how much or if it's even a problem on MIUI) - IP67 rating (vs IP53 on Note 10 Pro, probably not the most important but still nice) - *Longer update support (it says the A52 should get updates to Android 14 and a year of security updates after that) - Smaller than Note 10 Pro Cons: - *Smaller battery - Slower fingerprint sensor - *Bottom placed 3.5mm jack - No dedicated SD card slot (probably not a deal breaker now, but it's nice to have) - *More expensive - 25W charger (I also read that the 25W charger doesn't come with the A52, is that true?) What are your opinions or experience with either of these phones? And I decided to go with last year's models due to this year's models we downgraded (Note 11 Pro having heating problems, weaker CPU and no 4K recording on the stock camera app all with a higher price and the A53 reviews are negative on the CPU but they also removed the 3.5mm on it so that's a deal breaker) and the almost 3rd option would be the A52S 5G but it's another 50 euros up from A52 which is going quite far from my planned budget and I'm not sure if a faster CPU and 120hz is worth it (mobile gaming isn't relevant for me, anything I'd play makes no difference on any of these 3). Thanks in advance!
  2. I have enough smartphones based on Android. Recently I can tested Apple, iPhone 7 and I'm in love. So, I'm wondering. Is it worth it buying iPhone 11 in this year or spend a little bit more money and buy iPhone 12? Next models are out of range for me. I need some constructive answers.
  3. So my dog got 1 of my bud and chewed it now I have to buy new ones and there are a lot of choices to choose from I don't know which ones are better. So my previous buds where Huawei buds 3i, I liked the design and sound quality, only thing that was annoying was there stand by time, fully charged they lasted only 5 days(whit no usage). I have found 3 options so far for my next buds they are : Huawei buds 4i - 52 euros Xiaomi buds 3(not 3t pro) - 89 euros And Samsung galaxy buds 2 - 99 euros(on sale now) Only thing about Samsung buds I don't like is the design, idk, maybe I could get used to it, but I like the regular bud design (whit the leg) more. So My budget is ~100 euros(can be a bit more, but less is better ), is one these 3 options any good? Maybe someone of you has better option to recommend. Phone I'm rocking is Xiaomi Mi 11 ultra. Tnx for help
  4. I have a Xiaomi Redmi note 11 pro 4G and I hard reset it 2 days ago. I don't remember neither it's screen lock password nor the signed in google account because i didn't use the phone for a couple months. I did try all my google account but it's not the account which was signed in the phone. I did try to formating the phone remotely but it says "not allowed in locked state", the same error appears when i try to erase the user data. Now I can't unlocked the phone. I did try all the apps that claim to remove the google frp but it has to be purchased to use the app. Is there any other way to unlock the phone?
  5. I was wondering on which phone i should get. Between Redmi Note 11 Pro 5g and Mi 11 lite 5g NE (both are pretty much the same price).Mi 11 lite has a better cpu, smaller battery size and 90hz display, and a better camera recorder (64Mpx but 1080p at 120fps and 4k at 30fps). While Redmi Note has worse cpu, better battery size and 120hz display and worse camera recorder (108Mpx but only 1080p at 30fps). Now i dont care about those thing that much i can live with them but i know that Xiaomi has software restrictions between their pro and non pro models. And they have restrictions beetwen their "budget" Redmi lineup and their "flagship" Mi lineup. So i am more concerned about the software side of things like Android support and MIUI support.
  6. I have a Mi TV soundbar, 2015 model I believe. I used to watch on a Fire tv stick and now I am using it on a Samsung 4k smart tv. When playing back youtube content, there is no sound issue, aside from the sound output being lower or higher (guess that depends on how the sound was encoded, which can vary.) Sound is very crisp and all dialogues are intelligible. However, when playing back content from Disney, say the Sopranos, or some Netflix TV shows like Stranger Things, Altered Carbon, etc, the sounds can be difficult to understand. Too much base, mids are squashed or not loud enough. I cannot make out the dialogues at all in many instances. My viewing experience is hampered this way. Would a more expensive, better set of speakers make a difference and solve the issue, or are the paid streaming services just this way? I experience similar issues on my desktop as well with these paid services, though to a lesser degree. Running a very old creative 2.1 speaker setup. No issues with youtube on either device and sound system.
  7. I did not want to revive old threads so asking fresh. Please suggest some stable custom roms for redmi 5 plus/note 5. And please provide any latest tutorials to flash if possible! This is my first time flashing and all so i dont want to hardbrick my mobile or anything as this is the only 1 i have now! Currently running miui 11 Please help! Anything appreciated Tried going around mi forums and all didn't get much help as most posts were so old. ఈ even asked in xda forums but didn't get any response.! Please help
  8. hey fellas, today i came up with an new idea "WHAT IF I OVERCLOCK MY PHONE TO RUN WINDOWS ?" to run windows 8.1 i have to allocate 2 GB of ram to the OS and a dual core processor i have 1.8 GB of memory free out of 3 GB on ideal conditions at clock speed of 800 MHZ with an Octa core processor clocked at 1.40 GHZ so i think overclocking my processor to 1.60 GHZ , ram to 1200 MHZ (sounds crazy but affective) and deleting all unnecessary applications from google and certain stock applications like musics.and installing a lighter version of android if this all doesn,t work I can decompress the windows 8.1 disk image and remove certain application which i don't want like disk partition and all those useless wallpapers and even cortanaedit 1 by editing windows registry and if this doesn't works i can just install the modified iso in my computer and can make everything as low as possible like resolution ad hence forth i will be able to run windows 8.1 in my old android device. thanks for reaching the bottom fellas!! EDIT1: WINDOWS 8.1 DOESN'T HAVE CORONA EDIT2: I AM USING LIMBO AS AN EMULATION SOFTWARE EDIT3: I AM LOOKING FORWARD FOR MAKING USE OF 1GB SWAP STORAGE FROM AN EXTERNAL SD CARD WHICH WILL BE SLOW BUT MAY HELP US IN MAKING WINDOWS A LITTLE FASTER.
  9. So I posted about this problem on here before, but the issues just keep on coming. I have a 2018 Xiaomi Mi Air 13, with an i7 and a MX 150. At first i had some problems with screen flickering, especially with grey colours, as many have on the internet. So i ordered a new panel online, disassembled my laptop and tried to put the new one in, but i ordered one with wrong spacing on the mounts, still tried the video connection on the new one out and it worked just fine. So again ordered an other one, with correct mounting points, only to discover that this screen had a loose contact on its connector. So i tried multiple times if the problem wasn´t on my side and swapt those 3 panels through to see if it was the internal HDMI cable or indeed the connection on the screen. It was indeed the connection on the screen. So i wanted to put my laptop back together with the original screen, ready to again order an other panel. But as i was done with assembling the laptop even the original screen wouldn´t work anymore. Notice here that this one did work seconds before as i was searching on which side the error was. So i tried to connect an external screen via the HDMI out, but no succes their either as suddenly no HDMI output could be detected anymore. The laptop also seemed to be stuck in a bit of a loop as when i turned it on the fans and keyboard backlight would start, but turn off after like 20 seconds and then on again. Also turning the laptop off even with pressing the power button for more than 5 seconds was sometimes not possible and only through removing the battery it turned off. Already tried a few things like booting without battery and only with power cable, or pressing buttons for windows safe mode etc. Not even possible to get/display into bios anymore.. In the attachment a video of the error can be found. Now my question: Is their a possibility that i damaged something on the internals, and if on which part, or any other ideas how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance for the help, isn´t my first time working with computers but this error is really frustrating. Video_of_error.mp4
  10. Dear reader, Im having the strangest thing happening to my phone WiFi, and I do not understand what is happening. Firstly I'll try to sketch what my network situation currently is: house, 3 floors. Base floor has modem/router. First floor has a Asus router that I have configured to an access point. Before this I had a different modem /router. That had bridge mode on it. Therefore my Asus router was in normal router mode. My phone WiFi worked fine. Because of work at home and relative weak signal I managed to convince the ISP to send a new modem /router. I removed bridge mode and started using that WiFi downstairs. To remove complications I then enabled AP mode on my Asus router upstairs. Ever since then my Xiaomi phone has been acting up. I would connect to the AP and it stays connected for 5 seconds (full signal strength) and then disconnect (2.4 and 5ghz)..when it disconnects the said would also then dissappear from the WiFi menu as if they no longer existed. (after a while they come back) And sometimes I connect and they stay connected(very rare). For as long as I like. Till I go outside and have to reconnect again when I get back. Then it might refuse again. I've tested on an old phone that has yet to fail to connect to the AP. Works every time. Connecting to me new modem / router works a charm on my phone as well. Tried factory reset on AP twice. Reseting network settings on phone multiple times. Problem keeps coming back, just in this phone. After switching to AP mode. Help. I am not technical enough to understand what could be causing this... If you need more info I'd happily provide it. Thanks in advance, Daniel
  11. I have a Xiaomi Mi6 with MIUI Global 11.0.6. I was browsing the list of my apps and then on the very bottom is a Chinese App named " 小米金服安全组件 ". Can anyone help me if this is a malware or anything? Thank you! Here is the app along with its version. The apk name is " com.xiaomi.jr.security ".
  12. Hi! I have a Xiaomi Mi 6 with MIUI 11 Global Rom. I have been using the Security App by Xiaomi for years but I don't know what this root option does. Can someone enlighten me? Thank you!
  13. This is a review of a somewhat old product, but nonetheless I will give my thoughts on it for potential buyers I've owned this phone for >6 months now. This has replaced my old IPhone 5 and here are the things I like and dislike. Likes: • Decent Screen. At 5.1 inches, you can't really go wrong with a 1080p panel. Throughout my use the screen never failed to make content consumption/playing games eye-catching. • Great Processor. This thing uses a baseline Snapdragon 820 clocked at 1.8 Ghz. Paired with the Adreno 530 GPU , you won't have problems running the good games on android • Mi UI. This is very subjective. I personally came from an apple phone, and I was perfectly fine without the add drawer (and other native android UI). But I gotta Xiaomi props because they have ,imo, the most polished skin of Android. MI UI 8, the latest version is somewhat of an "Apple clone" but packs all the good features that an Android phone has. • Outstanding Battery Life. At 3000 mAh, this thing packs a ton. Given a decent usage (Few hours of Youtube content and gaming, daily communication), I can manage to squeeze almost a day and a half before ever needing to charge my Mi 5. • Quickcharge. The package comes with a QuickCharge 2.0 compliant charger, which does a good and somewhat fast job to charge my phone. I can go 0 to 70% in about 40-45 min charge. • Price to performance. We bought this at around $250 from China, and it sure does give the higher tier companies' flagships (Samsung, Apple, Huawei) a run for their money. At this price point, this is definitely a rare gem. • Decent Mobile Data connection. I'm aware it does not support America LTE, but here in our region LTE is supported on the Mi 5. Tried using the same data connection on my dad's 6+, and the Mi 5 fared quite well. Dislikes: • No SD card expansion. This isn't a deal breaker for me since the phone already sports a 32 GB built-in storage, but for heavy storage users this might be something worth noting. • Random slowdowns. I personally like my apps snappy and not that buggy, which this unit seems to not exhibit well. Given that I've only used 2.1/3 GB of the total RAM, the phone does throttle pretty badly, forcing me to clear some background apps that I might actually jump to and fro from. • Camera. Sure it's a decent 16 MP camera. But the shots I've gotten looked pale and sub-par compared to the IPhone 6-Plus that my dad has. • A CRAP ton of BLOATWARE. Having this phone bought from China, there was a ton of unnecessary apps installed. I'd suggest flushing the China ROM and installing the Global ROM. • Slippery af. This phone has a glass back, which is nice to hold but VERY slippery indeed. You may want to consider getting a non-slip case. • No Android updates. This comes stock with 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and I doubt Xiao Mi would be getting any of those, given that the Mi UI already updates once in a while. To summarize, the Mi 5 has been a worthy upgrade from my IPhone 5 (My first owned phone), and I'd gladly recommend it to anyone who's trying to get into the flagship line of phones without breaking the bank. But if you can spare a bit more money, you may want to consider getting the later edition Mi 5S, which sports a Snapdragon 821. On the other hand, if this would be too steep of a price still, may wanna take a look at the Redmi Note 4/ Note 4 Pro.
  14. I didn't see any post of this here in the LTT forum nor could I find anything by search so I'm posting this. Last year LMG posted a video of the 2nd gen camera of Xiaomi. The YI 4K was basically at that point beating the hero 4 black left and right. LTT review: Main points for this camera were: Half the price of a GoPro Same mounting system as GoPro Longer batterylife Capacitive touchscreen After Linus' review though, GoPro unleashed their hero 5 black on the market, which basically in terms of specs is very similar to the YI 4K camera linus reviewed but with two features that set it above last year's competitor. Waterproof without a case up to 10 meters Voice control Two weeks ago however, YI technology (Xiaomi's camera department) put the YI 4K+ on the market. It's the first action cam with 4K 60fps and 4K 30fps with EIS (electronic image stabilization). Also the price is 299USD Here's a comparison that was made between the cameras: So in short it has 4k 60fps, a larger battery, longer filming time and it costs less. What about image quality you might ask, here's a comparison I found: According to the creator of the video: Time for a 2017 action cam comparison? @LinusTech?
  15. So, I have an unusual problem. But first things first, yes, I know, chinese brand and all that. It's for a customer, he bought it and gave it to me to install a german windows. The device works like a charm, runs fast, amazing display, really quiet under windows with I'd say about 8 hours of battery life. What I want to know: Whenever I press a button on the keyboard, the touchpad becomes unresponsive for about 0.5 seconds. Under Windows I did not realize that at all but I tried Overwatch for gaming performance and I was to lazy to connect a mouse. Anyone else having this notebook and this issue, or any other notebook with that issue, or any idea to solve it? - I couldn't find anything on the internet (yet) except for one youtube guy who had the same issue. https://youtu.be/nBLnmoMJxhA?t=3m11s This is the video at the point where he describes the problem, same as I have it. - I tried several combinations of drivers: Original, Synaptics, Windows, Windows after Update. The touchpad works really well except for that short amount of time after pressing a button. Thanks in advance
  16. I live in the UK and use the Carrier GiffGaff, a subsiduary of O2. The issue is that I plan on purchacing a new phone and would like to use 4G/LTE. The frequency band O2 uses is 800 MHz though which two of the phones in consideration do not support. http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8291&idPhone2=8263&idPhone3=4664 http://www.4g.co.uk/4g-frequencies-uk-need-know/ Phones in consideration: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime Elephone P9000 The question is: Even though the phones don't support the Band 20 , can it connect to other carriers cell towers using a different band and therefore enable me to use 4G? Or would I only be able to use 3G? If you have other recommenations or advice please do post your opinion. Thank you
  17. The Xiaomi Mi 5S is definitely a good looking phone, but is it competitive enough in today's saturated market? Well, for starters, it doesn't cost $8-900 like a Google Pixel or an iPhone. It is made out of metal and glass and looks very elegant and premium, the volume buttons do shake a bit but it isn't very noticeable. The camera used on this phone is the exact 12MP Sony sensor used in the Google Pixel phone. We don't have optical image stabilization but the EIS works good enough for most situations. I have included some sample footage in the review video. Picture taking is fast and the pictures turn out very nicely, but not as nice as they turn out from the Google Pixel; so it has to do a lot with the software optimization. We only have one mono speaker at the bottom of the phone, that gets loud enough, but nothing too special, at par with most flagships these days. The 5.15" screen has a 1080P resolution and that is a bit disappointing. The viewing angles are great and the screen gets quite bright for usage in bright daylight but the bezels around the screen are a bit hideous. Now the software; we have Android 6.0.1 running on the Mi 5S with Xiaomi's skin on top. If you are a fan of iOS, you will most likely like it. No, app drawer and the camera app looks just like the one you would find on an iPhone. You can change theams, and customize the phone however you wish from the Mi theams store. We also get lots and lots of features that none of us will probably get to use... I would say that more useless features than you would find on a Samsung phone for example. I wasn't impressed with the scores that i got for the Antutu benchmark and the Geekbench 4, and im sure it has to to with the Rom that came pre-installed on the device. There is also a fingerprint scanner imbeded in the home button that seems to work well 95% of the time. It is quite accurate, but every now and than it just doesn't want to register any touches. Inside the phone there is a 3100mAh battery that will last the entire day and with about 4h of screen on time, decent enough but not spectacular. For a phone that costs less than $350 i think that it offers quite a lot of value but it could be improved a bit here and there. The camera could take better pictures, the bezels around the screen could be smaller, the battery could last a bit longer. Check out the full review video for more information about the Xiaomi Mi 5S Smartphone!
  18. Interesting .These flagship phones from asian companies usually tend to be very nice deals. I might take a look at it when it comes out . source :http://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-mi-note-2-specs-features-price-release-724239/ Also @Mi26 , you might be interested by this
  19. what happened? "The first problem relates to the Mi-Mover app, which allows you to transfer apps and some settings from any Android device (running 4.2 or higher) to a Xiaomi phone. This is a pretty common feature, even on Nexus and Pixel phones. However, if both devices are running MIUI, Mi-Mover will copy all system data to the new phone. This includes confidential information, like saved payment information, overriding Android's built-in sandbox protection in the process. Some applications are unaffected, like ones check the device or require a PIN at launch, but many popular apps like Twitter and Airbnb don't check the device. So if someone had access to a Xiaomi phone, they could copy all of a user's information without much effort" "Another flaw was found in how MIUI handles device-administrator apps. As you may know, many security/anti-theft apps (like Android Device Manager) can use Android's administrator permission to wipe the device. Uninstalling these apps usually requires the user's password, but eScan discovered that no prompt was given when deleting an administrator app. Theoretically, someone could steal a Xiaomi phone and quickly delete any anti-theft apps before the owner had the chance to use them." Xiaomi response TLDR- Xiomi Mi-Mover app can be easily used to copy user data, like saved payment information, overriding Android's built-in sandbox protection in the process, another issue was how someone with a stolen xiimi phone could uninstall device administrator giving them acess because of how MIUI handles device-administrator apps, so a thief can delete a anti theft app after obtaining the stolen phone before owner can activate any antitheft measure. "Uninstalling these apps usually requires the user's password, but eScan discovered that no prompt was given when deleting an administrator app." what do you guys think? i think a simple software update can fix the issues but not sure if that will happen. -http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/08/10/security-firm-discovers-several-major-flaws-miui/

  22. So... will Linus ever review a Xiaomi Ricecooker???
  23. Hi! We just transferred to a new condo and will be getting cable internet soon (25DL/2.5UL Mbps). I'm looking into buying a separate router as the provided 2-in-1 modem/router has really shitty WiFi. I'm already pretty much decided on the TP-Link C1200 which has everything I need and costs only around 70$. I am also a big fan of TP-Link as their UI is simple and easy to follow which means it's also alot easier to configure. I've had 3 TP-Link routers and so far I'm pretty satisfied with them. Just satisfied though, not amazed or anything haha. However, I found this sweet little router from Mi which only costs around 20$. It's already AC1200 but without gigabit LAN. I don't really NEED gigabit LAN as my internet speed isn't even near 100Mbps, but it is a big advantage when it comes to filesharing and streaming media from my PC to my AndroidTV (Mi Box). But, I really am a sucker for cheap bang-for-buck stuff (I have tons of Mi products) and it seems this Mi Router is one of those. Sadly I couldn't find a decent review about it. Most reviews are sketchy and seems to oversell the product without concrete proof of testing. So far my devices are as follows: Main Rig (AC 867 Mbps) - will probably be wired to the router. iPhone 5s old Macbook Pro (2013??) Dell XPS15 (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) Huawei P9 (EVA-L19) Mi Box 3 The condo is a 2-floor flat with the router on the first floor and most of the devices mostly spread in the rooms on the second floor. Anyways TL;DR, does anyone have any experience with this "Mi Router 3". It seems too cheap for what it offers but hey, Mi products are usually like that (I have a Mi Band 2, a Mi Box 3, and a Xiaomi Hybrid Earphones)
  24. Today I bought my mi-band 4, but The problem is that currently, I don't have access to any android device but just my Laptop, I really want to try out my mi-band 4 but there are no emulators that support Bluetooth...Later I tried Installing Android x86 (8.1) in Virtualbox, Got the VM successfully running but then I tried to install the mi-fit app but the app for some heck of a reason is not compatible with my Android x86 VM, I even side-loaded its APK from apkhere.com but it always crashed when every I load the app. There got to be some way I can use my mi-band 4 with my PC, right?
  25. I'm in the market for a new smartphone. I've narrowed my options down to two phones: the Xiaomi Mi 9T (NOT the pro model) and the Galaxy S9+. Which do you think I should get? I checked the LTE bands, and the 9T is sufficient for my area. The 9T is $289.99 on AliExpress (128gb) The S9+ is $279.99 refurbished on eBay (64gb) Also, if you think I should get something else, my budget is around $300 or $300 or less. My current phone is the Moto G5 Plus. The reason why I'm getting a new phone is because part of the screen is shattered, because I dropped it a week ago. I recognize that getting the glass replaced is cheaper, but my phone has other issues as well. There are white dots on the screen itself, due to water getting inside of it. Therefore, I thought getting a newer, better phone would be better than getting the screen and glass of my current phone replaced. I use my phone for web browsing, texting, calling, listening to music, and watching video. Therefore, a phone with a nice big screen would be nice. Also, I would like the phone to have a headphone jack, though I could live without it. Also, I will probably use this phone to record videos with the rear camera, because I want to start making videos for YouTube. As for the selfie camera, I rarely takes selfies, but I sometimes do video calls, so having a good selfie camera would be a bonus. I mainly use a fingerprint sensor for unlocking, but face unlock would be nice (if it was fast). I would like this phone to have a long battery life, at least for a full day of use. I don't really game on my phone, but I might stream games over the internet or on my local network from my PC. I intend to use this phone for at least a few years.
