Summary Google Pixel owners are reporting that their phones are unable to dial 911 or other equivalents Quotes My thoughts It's been, less than a year since Google Patched the Microsoft Teams bug that prevented Emergency Dialing last time. It just seems like after multiple decades of having phones, dialing 911 would be figured out by now, or at least segmented from regular calling where other code changes can't break it. Sadly enough, this isn't just a Google Android issue, but an issue that has plagued even LineageOS and OpenGApps for those who would want to switch away. I guess if you want to be able to call 911, get an iPhone... just don't take it on a rollercoaster. Hello everyone, this is my first real post here, I dont really understand how these forums work so please go easy on me if i did something wrong. Lets get onto the topic at hand. I had a problem at hand where i needed a way to back up world files of games, namely minecraft, but also wanted it for valhiem. I had this problem where my Minecraft world got corrupted and anything i did, just didnt work. I also had a problem with valhiem where the world suddenly "reset" to an earlier save from waaay back. These things keep happening and i guess they will keep happening. I wanted the ability to go back to any save folder for any reason. My requirements that I listed for this "thing" to do: Create a folder and give it a specific name along with todays date i.e: "MRG 6-24-22" in a specific location, Copy the world folder and paste it into that same folder. Do this anytime automatically, i am a huge fan of automation, I am super lazy, thats all. Now with these things at hand, i started researching back up options. They were all too complicated and didnt make sense for my lazy brain. went to reddit for some help with this specific task. all i basically got was "someone somewhere out there already did that, find em." tHaT wAs sUpEr hElPfUlL. Then shortly after, i found out about robocopy and that u can batch script it which means u can run it with windows task scheduler!!! i had found the solution to my problem. But i had NO IDEA how it worked, and i while i could follow along with a tutorial, i had no idea what i was doing. cause when i tried to run it on my own, it just refused to work. and when it did work it would just copy the folders, so id literally have a massive empty folder full of empty folders, or all the files without the folders. Anyway, I gave up and shelved the project for a year or so, till last week. Before last week i was manually copying the world files of the Minecraft server i was running for me and friends. every two days i would do exactly what i said myself. Until in the minecraft world, i accidentally blew up a massive portion of our stuff. The latest save?? two days ago, I had just done so much grinding in those two days. PAIN. Anyway, fed up with eveything I dusted off the project and took another look. long story short after about a whole day messing around with robocopy, learning the different thing its capable of, i finally created the very tool i had been dying to have. i am here to share it with anyone in the same predicament as me. \ / Anyway, lets get to the point, the script i used is actually very simple its basically: robocopy "(Source Folder Pathway)" "(Destination folder Pathway)\(Name) %date:~-10,2%"-"%date:~7,2%"-"%date:~-4,4%\world" /e /MT:16 /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ Initiate the tool. The stuff u want to copy. Where to paste it. Create a new folder with this name. Use this to get todays date. Arguments I need to say that i am assuming you will be running this on a system that runs constantly, it wont work if your system is asleep i guess? it didnt work on my laptop while it was asleep. i have a seperate machine just call "server" that runs my Minecraft server and this script. Anyway, i encourage you to mess with robocopy and learn to really understand it better cause i dont feel like ill do good enough in explaining it. But most of the stuff is self explanatory, use my pictures for implementation reference to know how i set it up and used windows task scheduler. Ill explain the more difficult things i hard the hardest time with, starting with getting the date to be printed in the file name, just copy this tbh cause i have no idea what it means but it works lol: %date:~-10,2%"-"%date:~7,2%"-"%date:~-4,4%. When putting in your file pathways, if any names have spaces, put quotations around the entire path (refer to my example), or always put quotations just to be safe cause i cant be bothered to check for spaces. the arguments i used are very simple: /e just means copy everything, im not sure why this isnt the default but whatever. MT:16 is multithreading with your specified amount of threads, use as many threads your computer has available to get the job done faster, without this argument, i believe it just copies one at a time, but with MT, it will do that many simultaneously. if u just put "/MT" it will default to 4 threads (i think). I have an i9 9900K, 8 cores 16 threads. I just noticed that its supposed to be 16 threads and in my picture its 18 threads, i have been running that for a few days with no issue, but i just went back and changed it. you can have robocopy create a file with a desired name if you add extra paths that dont actually exist, for example: You want to paste your source contents into a file on your desktop folder named "Backups" but you dont want to dump all the folders into backup, u want them in a single folder named "BigBoy" to oragnize better, just add "\Bigboy" at the end of your whole pathway. I.e: C:\Users\19167\Desktop\BackUps\BigBoy. Then it will put all your files in that new folders. Saying this cause i wish someone told me u can do this earlier to save me hours of trying to script a whole new batch that would create a new folder and name it for the robocopy to dump into the latest folder. and tbh i dont even know if thats possible but it doesn't matter now. You normally run this in CMD but i have no idea how to automate that so instead just create a notepad, type up your script, go to save as, where you name the folder, at the end of the name type ".bat" to make it an executable. double click to test run your new invention. Dont kill your computer with your newly built virus lol jkjk jk. And thats about it, robocopy has many other functions other than this, for example, you can keep just one back up of the world thats constantly updated whenever u want. Also i forgot to mention that i also have the windows scheduler run the script every hour which means its saved every hour to the most current folder till its the next day, then it makes a new folder for the new day and does the same. All of this is 2AM babble basically so i apologies if stuff doesnt make sense, just ask and i will clarify. i needed to get this out now or i wont ever do it. Also i did this to help those that have my same problem cause this is what i wanted others to do when i was struggling to figure all of this out.

I may or may not have forgotten to give these little cards out at LTX. Figured I'd drop these World of Warships codes here to see if anyone can make use of them.

Not entirely sure what the author was getting at when they wrote "for the first time ever," but regardless it would appear that the iPhone 8 has managed to beat all other smartphones, including Apples, despite being, arguably, an incremental upgrade. For any of you that were wondering what Apples other best seller was, you guessed it, it's the iPhone X. The Notch Strikes Back baby! Here is how the S9 line is staking up: Would appear that Samsung has a good product on its hands with the S9. I have heard rumors of poor sales but obviously the reports of the Galaxy S9s death have been greatly exaggerated. In more localized news, Chinese brands are Apples biggest hurdle to smartphone world domination: Oh and do you remember HTC? Me neither: Source: https://www.cultofmac.com/559797/iphone-8-smartphone-market-may-2018-counterpoint/

Just a simple question, does anyone know where and when 100 Thieves will be competing? I am watching the CWL Atlanta Open right now and I don't see 100 Thieves anywhere. I love Nadeshot and I love 100 Thieves but Nadeshot hasn't said anything about them for a long time and I haven't heard anything about them from other channels. Are they still a team or what?

I know you can completely explore planets but what about space travel? Will it be like lillypads in an ocean where you can only use the warp drive to get there or could you manually travel from planet to planet using the standard thrusters even though it would take a long time? Thanks, Blueprint

Hi, I've currently experiencing a few issues with a older rts game Empires dawn of the modern world when displaying it on my second display which is in another room. For some reason the game cant allow it to display on my TV because It will force crash straight away even when switching it from my first display in the games settings. Is this a common issue with older games? Any suggestions or help would be great. Cheers.

So today they just showed off a demo of RCT World at PAX Prime. It looks great, and Im definitely going to buy it when it comes out. Rct was my first game ever, and my only game for the first year of my gaming life. If RCT world is able to combine the engine and style of Cities Skylines, with RCT3 and No Limits, it will be my dream game. The steam workshop is just the cherry on the cake here for me!

I'm looking to apply for university and am interested in computer engineering. I am looking at government funding to help pay for my tuition and partial living expenses and the application form for this looks for an action plan for what I am going to do with this education. I am looking for someone who may be in a feild relating to computer engineering to help me better understand just what it is I am committing to. As of right now I've chosen computer engineering as the course I want to take simply because the synopsis provided seemed like exactly what I would love to do, but that is all I know about it. I need to know what kind of job opportunity this education opens up and where to look for these jobs. What opportunities for advancements exist in these carreers. The kind of work environment I can expect, and what type of hours to be ready to work. Can I do some at home training by myself and if so how? What kind of equipment will I have to familiarize myself with? These types of questions so that I can be confident that this is actually what I want to do and am not just going to drop it realizing it's not what I wanted.

Original source: http://sploid.gizmodo.com/this-is-furthest-flight-ever-flown-on-a-real-life-hover-1706275930 A while ago, there was the Hendo hoverboard, THIS ONE. That used a magnetic field and everyone was excited as we thought "Back To The Future was right, we will get hoverboards in 2015" Well, the Guinness World Record for the longest flight on a different form of Hoverboard to date has just been set and was created by a single person. Catalina Alexandru Duru traveled 905 feet and 2 inches (275.9m) with what looks like a fan powered hoverboard/Huge Quad-copter, which also hovers considerably higher than the Hendo Hoverboard at a staggering 16Ft in the Air. The test flight took place over Lake Ouareau in Quebec, Canada. So unlike BTTF, this one works over water. My thoughts. I am truly amazed at this. The fact that someone has managed to create a yet another, different prototype of a hoverboard and had a successful flight really excites me. The fact that Personal Flight Devices such as the one Mythbusters built (can be found by searching YT for "mythbusters jetpack". I'm not linking it since the only one I can find is a full episode), have been proven to not be viable with then technology and seeing this now... I really want one of these. Sure they are a long way off from production, if it ever does that is, but the future is looking hopeful for hoverboards. Your thoughts, please leave them down below! To mods, if this doesn't count as tech, feel free to move to the relevant section.

Personal Opinions Here it apparently is, in all its metal framed glory. Not much else to say, really. The leaks were bang on before, but this phone seems to lack a noticeable curve (maybe its just a dummy unit that isn't as well detailed?) It has a camera hump, which I think is entirely stupid. It was stupid when Apple did it, its stupid that HTC did it, its stupid that Samsung did it. Stop with the bumps! Push out the battery and fill in that extra few mm or something. They've announced Samsung Pay and the whole presentation, IMHO, is very good but we all know who they took their inspiration from (in more than just the presentation). I'm not sold, and their insistence on copying Apple down to the damn presentation and brand naming is...a tad insecure. It comes in some new interesting colours like Green, Blue and Gold (see the MWC content section for photos on that). The glass has a 800 degree bend on both sides, with glass on both sides. Oh shots fired against Apple for this one (but didn't their phones bend in that test too?) They claim that it won't lag or stutter anymore, which would be pretty nice if they actually follow through on this. The phone can charge to 4-hours of use in 10 minutes, and it charges twice as fast as the iPhone 6. BUT, this is detrimental toward batteries. Pushing that much juice through anything...dicey. Very dicey. I even hesitate to use the fast charging on my 6+ Samsung thinks its okay to not have a replaceable battery because their built in one charges so fast. THATS NEVER BEEN THE ISSUE. You idiots, are you going to have service centres all over the place now too for same day battery replacement? Cause thats how Apple can get away with it. I can go to a store, wait 10 minutes, have a new battery in. You? No, I need to go to carrier or send it to your service centre which I know doesn't exist in my city. FFS. What a fail. Samsung Pay will show up in the US and Korea in the Summer, once again making the same mistake that Apple did: focussing on the wrong areas to spread the name. But c'est la vie. They've got AMEX, BoA and Chase as partners so far. NFC and MST tech. Most likely done editing as all content has been revealed barring any further huge announcements by Samsung this week, which seem doubtful. But you never know.

The players of World of Warcraft, the most played MMO game of all time decided to show their best at defeating Ebola! By adopting an in-game Goat (I think it's name is Argi but I'm too lazy to check, derp) players donated around 2 million dollars to help those in need affected by Ebola in Africa! Also, it wasn't only gamers playing WoW that helped, but Blizzard also helped by donating 100% of their profit they got in a short time window to help get even more money to help those in need! Since Red Cross of USA is in question here and gets all the money to send to Africa, only people from USA can donate to help people in Africa which kind of sucks because a lot of people would like to help, I hope. People say that Gamers have no life, at least we are doing something to save one. #GoatsAgainstEbola ^ Hash tag I made up, derp. I never people on the youtube alwyas constantly talking about how the internet is slow in USA/Canada either buy Logan or Linis or even paul and 100 other youtubers , but i always keep saying , it's 100 times worse in India , with the Govt. having it's own company for Broadband with copper lines and 1 mbps is the max speed they offer and the only other major company is an telephone company playing monopoly (Airtel India Breaking Net Neutrality, Charging Extra for VoIP (Skype, Viber)) and having ridiculous charges and only provide 80 GB max on any of the plans with the highest speed being 60 Mbps in cities but only having 512 kbps Upload speed , the situation in India is worse than the damn Aussies The world isn’t as connected as you might think. While it often seems like the whole world is connected these days, the reality is that around 60 percent of the world still doesn’t have access to the Internet. Three quarters of the world’s offline population live in just 20 countries - including India, Russia, Nigeria, Brazil and, surprisingly, the US, where one in five Americans don’t have the Internet. But things are changing quickly. Current uptake trends suggest that by 2017 nearly one billion more people will be online, with many of those in India. And both Facebook and Google now have innovative projects in the pipelines to help beam wi-fi to the whole world. Facebook intends to do this with giant solar drones, while Google wants to use balloons to beam its Internet. With Internet access now being a key indicator of someone’s economic prospects, both of these ambitious projects are important to help bring the majority of the world into the future and provide them with equal opportunities. Even more excitingly, an US Internet provider just rolled out the fastest Internet in the world - capable of downloading a feature film in one second - in a US suburb. Hopefully this will help increase competition and speeds around the rest of the world too. But in the meantime, it’s fascinating to think about the billions of people out there who don’t have access to information (and procrastination) at the click of a button. The best plans that was available to me Source : http://www.sciencealert.com/this-is-where-the-60-of-the-world-that-don-t-have-the-internet-live
