Hey guys. I've been working on buying peripherals for my rgb setup and I only have a mouse left to pick out. Could anyone recommend the best wired RGB mouse currently out? I've been looking more towards the Razer Mamba since it has the best lighting, but i've heard it has tracking issues or something. If anyone knows the best wired RGB mouse that would be great! Money shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Hello fellow techies, I am looking at buying a Steam Link and Steam controller to use in my basement so I don't have to sit at my PC up on the second floor of my house. And I have a few questions before diving in... 1: How is the wireless vs. wired performance? Is it really a huge difference or can I get bye using wireless? Are power-line adapters good as a wired Ethernet solution? My house was built in the 1980s if that matters. 2: Can I access the desktop or run non-Steam games via the Link? I have seen some reviews claiming that they just minimized Big Picture view on the Link and could use the desktop normally with the Steam controller. 3: Can I use one of the three USB ports to run audio out of? My surround sound system has a USB port on it that I assume can be used to transmit audio into. Also for the Link users out there, what are good games to play via the Link and controller? I hear that Rocket League, Portal and RPG games like Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor are good on the controller. Any other recommendations? Thank you all for your help.

I don't understand this. I'm using an ethernet cable to my PC and all the speed-tests from various sites consistently gives me no less than 50Mbps download and 17Mbps upload. Yet, when i go to watch a Youtube video, it often buffers even at 480P... I've tried a Mac downstairs that's also reporting the exact same speed across several speed-testing programs and also has buffering issues. I'm also experiencing buffering at 720P over Wifi when trying to stream BBC Iplayer to our Free-view player on the TV. Why is this!? Result: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5385675350

Soo the long and short of it is I'm about to move into a new house and until recently didn't know jack about networks. I have got a plan which I think should be what I need for a basic network.its in the UK and a 3 story house btw and all connected by cat5e cus come on with uk internet I'll be dead before I need cat6/a :). okay so to start with I have always used the isp's routers/modems I.e. BT.my new plan is that I have to change isp as I'm moving house and I though to sack off the isp's router and get: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Mbps-Dual-Wireless-Router/dp/B007W16SMO/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1464993942&sr=1-2&keywords=Asus+router which from what I have found is fairly decent. The router will go on the middle floor with a fiber connection. Then I will have 2 Ethernet cables coming out of it one going to the bottom floor and one to the top floor. I have chosen: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-SG108-8-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B00A121WN6/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1464994142&sr=1-3&keywords=network+switch again I think it should do the job. From the 2 switches I would like 2 access points again one on the top and one on the bottom floor connected to the switches. I chose: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-WA901ND-V4-Wireless-Access/dp/B013HCO332/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1464994051&sr=1-4&keywords=Access+points again it seems to fit the bill. What I want to achieve is great wireless signal throughout the house with as few wires feeding directly into the router as possible hoping to have the switches in a cupboard or something. If you see any floors or problems with my plans please let me know as I have out this together on my own. As well I have one question will the access points work as an extension of the router or will I have to connect to them all then the wireless device with do what they do and chose the best signal and I was hoping to have a 5ghz cute there would be max 7-10 devices connected and I only want the regular devices on 5ghz guests can have the 2.4ghz :). Thanks for for reading sorry for long post but I just want to clarify a few thing before I go ahead with it all. EDIT - upon further reading I now know I will need a dual band access point for the 5ghz such as : https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-WAC120-100UKS-performance-802-11-wireless/dp/B00O4U8AC2/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1464995839&sr=1-5&keywords=Dual+band+access+points i think that is correct again pls comment if it isn't or any advice etc. Thanks. *Repost* no replys on other one but still need help please.

so i use one of these things for my internet as fully wired isnt really an option https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-AV500-Powerline-Adapter-Starter/dp/B0084Y9N3O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464851364&sr=8-1&keywords=mains+network+adapter (not the one i use) and on my ps3 this did increase my speed but on the pc im supposed to be getting over 6mbs http://prntscr.com/bbbiox 98 here dont know why) but recently i havent even been getting 1 mb/s on downloads in both chrome and steam as shown http://prntscr.com/bbbjlc . so should i buy a wireless pcie card if so what one?

Hi, So I'm looking for a pair of headphones (never owned headphones neither earphones in the past) I know I'm gonna prefer open-back, over-ear headphones with a lot of bass. (I like bass) But I don't want headphones that sound like *vomit* Beats *vomit*. I looked into the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x's but they are closed back (which isn't bad, just prefer open) and they have a "flat" sound signature with limited bass according to most people. I've also looked at the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 250 Ohm headphones but heard that they need a powerful amp (using onboard ASUS crystal sound) and that the treble might be "ear-piercing" and "shrilly" for some people. I'm going to use these headphones for basically everything from watching videos, listening to music, playing games (Battlefield, Witcher 3 etc...) and whatever. Headphones that require separate amps are welcome to suggestion, I'll most likely get the Schiit Vali 2 amp if I have to get an amp. Basically I want headphones that are: Over-Ear Preferably Open Back (closed is fine) Comfortable Wired (NOT wireless) Have good bass + mids and treble (but not too loud treble) Good quality Not "gaeming" branded with "EXTRA 99999.9 SURROUND OMG BUY NOW !11!!1!11!!!" Under $250 Thanks for any help!

My G700 has started having issues keeping a charge lately (and yes I did try new batteries and the battery life was the same) so I think it's time to replace it. I really like the shape of the mouse and I was wondering if there is something else out there with a similar shape. Wired or wireless, doesn't matter. I'm setting my budget to about $60 USD, but I can spend more if needed.

I like the Razer Orochi, I vehemently detest Razer's Synapse Driver Software. Does anyone know of any other mic that have feature parity with the Razer Orochi? Specific Features I liked: Bluetooth 4.0 Wired & Wireless Modes Full Sized Format There are other wireless mice, there are other bluetooth mice, but outside of the G900 I couldn't find any wireless mice that could both operate via bluetooth wireless AND USB wired modes.

For some time I've been struggling with how to connect my gaming PC in my bedroom to the internet. Ideally I would just run an ethernet cord from my router to my PC but it's not possible for me to have the ethernet cord run through my lounge and into the bedroom. I've tried using this small USB wireless adapter to connect over wifi but I've had huge issues with speeds under 1kb/s and often it just won't transfer data at all (even though it registers as connecting to the network). Alternatively I've tried connecting my PC to this wireless extender via ethernet cord, and connecting to the network that way, but most of the time it won't even transfer data at all. My internet on other devices is fine; I stream HD video on my laptop while troubleshooting <1kb/s on my PC. I tried connecting my PC to a laptop via ethernet cord and using the laptop's wifi for the PC, and this worked surprisingly well, but it's not a feasible way to run things all the time. In an old NCIX video Linus talked about "ethernet over power" (I know it isn't the same as power over ethernet), where I can plug something like this into the wall at both ends (next to my PC and next to the router), then connect to the PC and router to these plugs via ethernet cords. What should I do? Ethernet over power sounds like a good way to go, I know it isn't as fast as wired but my internet here (in Australia) isn't the greatest anyway, right now I'm getting 1.75 Megabytes/sec which is about the best I ever get. Affordable / simple recommendations?

So, I got a gaming laptop recently so my girlfriend doesn't demand every minute of my PC for Sims and GTA, but for some reason (my internet is 200 mbps D/L) whenever she watched a YouTube video or even just browses the web whilst I'm on a game on my PC (which is wired via ethernet directly into the back of the modem) my speeds go as low as 0.5mbps with 500+ ping. But if we're watching on anything else, phone, tablet or console the connection is fine? Any idea? I've disabled teh windows 10 update across PC thing that apparently takes up a bunch of bandwidth, however this hasn't done anything.

Okay, so I am going to be building a gaming PC in a month, just trying to decide on a really good build. But I want to get a really good mouse, either specified for gaming or one that is just all around great. I'm pretty into Razer but a friend of mine loves Logitech, I can bend either way. I don't know much about the world of mice and what makes one the bee's knees while another is absolute creamy horse... so if anyone has any suggestions and why it would be good. BTW I'll be gaming (League, Skyrim, GTA V [maybe lol], Division etc.) and also video editing on occasion. Any suggestions help and are honestly greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What would be a better option the -Razer Naga Epic chroma which is a wireless mouse, or would the standard Naga chroma which is wired be better for obvious gaming and productivity.

I've been using the same headset for years, a Plantronics GameCom 780. They've also been broken for years. As you can see here: So, I'm looking to get a new headset and I have around $50 USD to spend. A mic with decent quality is kind of important, as I'm often in teamspeak either hanging out with friends or rolling in a squad in Arma 3. I might have a little wiggle room on the budget, or I may even be able to pick up a separate mic all together, like the ModMic, to focus on headphone quality. I don't need anything too fancy, just something that'll be pleasing to listen to for long sessions while either gaming or listening to music.

This is the idea I'm having and would like some assistance to make sure this all works before I attempt to put all the time into setting it up. First the hardware: I have an Asus RT-AC66u router back in the large bedroom I use as my computer room. This is where most of my hardware sits, and where friends hook up when they come over. Out in my living room I have a media center pc that has an Asus PCE-AC68 wireless card that has a 3-way external antenna. This antenna works great, getting about 64MB/s transfer speeds from my desktop to my Drobo thats connected to the media center PC via USB3. I recently got a Shield TV and was looking to try to stream 1080p 60fps from my main desktop in the room, but I'm afraid the shield's internal antennas won't get that great of connection. I'm thinking about trying to use the media center's ethernet to connect to the shield or at best case to a switch and connect my receiver, PS4, and TV into it also. I'm kinda worried that Internet Connection Sharing might present bugs. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi so i currently need a budget gaming mouse for my MSI GE62 Apache 276 Laptop as my cheap $10 wireless HP mouse wasnt working for gaming because i couldnt adjust its dpi. so what im looking for is under $50, wired or wireless, though wireless is preferred, has to have adjustable DPI button on the mouse and thast pretty much it. i dont really care for the bells and whistles except for the essentials as i will be playing some FPS games and id much prefer function over form.

Is it just me, or is the variation of fingertip grip friendly mice very limited? As I see it, this is the main problems: 1) Many of them is marketed as on-the-go mice Lower than 1000 hz. Designed to be small, but useable with other grip types. 2) Never more than two thumb buttons Would love to see 4+ buttons for the thumb, in one dense area. Thumb buttons placed too far ahead of the center of gravity of the mouse. 3) Rarely high end Do to the smaller size they are often combined with being the cheep option. Maybe also because of the smaller consumer segment, they are often made as cheap mice. My current mouse is a Logitech G700. I love it, but it is a little heavy, the battery life is horrible, and it is not getting any younger. I have been looking around for a replacement, but even tho the G700 is not perfect and definitely not new, no one offers a more compelling mouse today (in my humble opinion). My personal priorities are: 4 thumb buttons. Easy to distinguish without looking. Placed together, not too far to the front of the mouse. Wireless with wired mode. Rechargeable. Decent battery life. Semi lightweight. Batteries will add some weight, there is no way around that and at the same time keep decent battery life. It should NOT look like a spaceship or a racecar. I like Steelsseries designs, simple and stylish. 1000 hz. Here is why. Gets notisable when using G-Sync/Freesync. Full article. RGB lighting would be a plus even tho it hurt battery life. But not a must. I was looking at the Razer Orochi and the Steelseries Sensei Wireless, but they both lack buttons, and the Orochi is laughable 125 hz when wireless (blame bluetooth). Also have a Logitech G602 at work, good mouse, lots of well placed buttons, but only 500 hz and I would prefer not to have the big thumb rest. What do you guys think? Am I overreacting, or do you feel the same way?

So I have quite a few games on PC which are best with a controller, or I prefer it anyways, and have been stuck with a default 360 pad (its actually a cheap 3rd party one). I use to be a big Playstation fan and still have my Dualshock 3 controllers, but I basically don't use my PS3 anymore. I have some problems with software and cables working reliably so I wondered if there were any suggestions for a DIY controller mod for putting the guts of the 360 pad into the Dualshock case. So far with a bit of googling I have found a Destructioid article which shows a finished product of what I want to do however there wasn't much on a guide or anything, it seems most people prefer the layout of the 360 pad anyway so less people have made things like this. Failing all this are there any reliable aftermarket D pads for the 360 controller? The disc based dpad is killing me on speedrunning Freedom Planet (2D platformer sonic inspired game) and at the very least the function of a better D pad would suffice with this. This seems like a cool project idea even if its not practical to do, however if you know of any good PC gaming pads (Dualshock layout or decent Dpad) then that may actually just be a more effective way of doing it. Thanks for reading!

I am going to be moving soon, and my PC will be on the floor above the router. My internet speed is about 25mbps. I am unsure of which one to buy. I am just looking for something that will be expandable in the future (as in, easy to get more,) and won't throttle the connection. From what I can tell, the cheapest option that I could find would work for this. I am willing to pay more if it will improve internet speeds, but I can't find a reason to. Am I missing something? If so, any suggestions?

I had a new router recently and for some reason my wired LAN network has changed it's profile name to "Network 2" I was just wondering how I could rename this "network 2" to whatever I desire or whatever the default name might be. Something like just Local Area Network or soemthing. Also I'm a bit confused because usually the wired connection has like a little home picture on to identify the network as a home network.

So Basically I'm getting a PC soon, although I'm not sure whether to get a wireless dongle, or run an Ethernet cable from the modem, into the attic, then into my room. (My room is at the far end of the house) Would it be worth the effort? Opinions please, thanks <3

Hello tipsters, It's been a long time since I've bought a headset and my old set is starting to die. I'm looking for a wired gaming headset with 7.1 surround sound, a clear sounding microphone with a quick mute button and preferably light and comfortable on the ears. My budget is upwards of $300aud (roughly 210usd). Can you guys recommend anything? Thanks.

So I've been planning on upgrading from my Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma. I really love them, but they are not very comfortable. I'm looking for a headset, preferably wireless, withing the 100-170 dollar range. I've been looking at the Logitech G930, but many people are complaining that the audio sometimes cuts out. I'd really love a pair of wireless headphones, but wired is okay if they are REALLY good. Comfort and sound quality are the most important, but I don't want to be wearing bricks on my ears. Thanks EDIT: So after becoming much wiser (thanks all), I now know what I want. What I need is a closed back pair of headphones, wired. The budget is 100-140 dollars. Im going to use either a Modmic 4.0 or the Vmoda Boom, depending on if the headphones have detachable 3,5mm jack or not. I want the sound of the headphones to be good (obviously), but also the comfort and looks.

So as you all know, wireless is not exactly the best option for gaming. Sadly, I will have to deal with it until a later date. My router is just a piece of shit and has to be reset every few hours and is losing performance. I would LIKE to put wired internet in my bedroom were my PC is. So first, my main problem being that my router is in my basement (bad idea I know but it can't really be moved) and my PC is on the 2nd floor (or 3rd if you count the basement as a floor) and is on the opposite side of the house. And, there is another problem. My basement is finished so I can't just run wires around. I have moved my computer down there in the past, but it is not very convenient to have it there. So I don't think that will be an option. HOWEVER, there is a cable line right above my ceiling, which I could easily route into the wall from the attic. But my question is, can I have a modem both at my desk, and in the basement. I am pretty sure you can, I just don't want to screw anything up. Also, I knew this is one of the best ever tech forums on the planet, and I was bound to get answers. Also, I have a 25 port switch in my basement and only use 10 of the ports. OVERKILL
