Hi, I replaced a AMD 6850 for a Geforce GTX 750 ti in a friends computer that has a Sabertooth 990fx and I'm having this weird bug. After installing the drivers and rebooting, as soon as the windows logo goes away to log in into Windows the monitor stops getting a signal. (black screen) I know the computer is in Windows since I can hear the log in sound and see hard drive activity. In order for it to boot, I have to go in safe mode and remove the drivers and delete them so on the next boot it can run the "standard video drivers". I've tried many different driver versions and so many things that it would take quite a while to post all of it. One thing that worked was to install windows 7 on another hard drive in the same computer. The thing is, my friend would prefer not to format. Would anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? Hello. I have serious problem with my notebook. The notebook itself is relatively new (came out in 2012 if my memory serves me right). I have only been using it for half a year. It's performance was good. At some point I decided to switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 . The notebook was working fine at first, but after a while (a week or so) the notebook started acting weird. Windows Explorer and applications, like my web browser, would go on a "not respoding" state, only to become normal again after 20-50 seconds. This became more frequent each day, to the point of rendering my computer almost unusable. I opened the resource manager ,( or whatever its name is, I am not using English Version of windows), at the time of the above event my hard drive would constantly work at 99% and it's read speed would be between 500 KBps - 2 MBps (I am not very knowledgable on tech stuff but I think that this is not a normal speed, am I wrong ?) . I decided to go back to windows 7 so I formated the Hard Disk in order to install the OS. Although the problem still persists, it is less likely to happen. However, new problems popped up like very long Boot and Shut down times(Longer than the time before the change into Windows 8.1 happened) and frequent lag spikes on games. (The only games that are installed are LoL, OSU! and Terraria). Now, I know that the problem here is probably the Hard Drive, but since I do have the money and equipment to make experiments with the notebook's parts, I want to be sure that the problem is, indeedm the Hard Drive and not related to the OS or some other hardware malfunction.That is why I decided to make this post, and I would be glad if you could help me. Below I will note specifications and some screenshots. Thank you in advance. Notebook Model : Samsung 300E5A S04 Mainboard: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. 300E4A/300E5A/300E7A/3430EA/3530EA Operating Sys. (What I am CURRENTLY running): Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 CPU: Intel Pentium B950 2.10GHz RAM: A-Data, Single Channel, 4 GB, 665MHz Graphics: 1) Onboard Intel HD Graphics 2)NVIDIA GeForce GT 520MX (For 3D Applications) HDD: Seagate 500GB 5400RPM SATA-2 (Model: ST500LM012 HN-M500MBB) Some extra info about my hard drive: The hard drive has 4 partitions and this is how it was when I recieved the notebook. (More info in screenshots) Temperatures: Mainboard: 47-55| CPU: 38-59 (In some rare cases it can reach up to 70, but only under much workload) | Graphics: 34-36 | HDD: 29-31. (All temps. are measured in degrees celsius) Notes: All the drivers are up to date. When playing either of the games stated above the temps. are: CPU: 74-81 | Graphics: 63-68 | Mainboard: 57-60 | HDD: Steady at 32. (Might the problem be caused by some damage due to the high temperatures ?). I did change the thermal advensive on the GPU and the CPU 2 days ago. Before that the CPU temp would reach as high as 87 Degrees.The CPU's Tjunction temp is 85. ScreenShots (I apologize for not running an english version of Windows but that is the only language available since the OS is authentic and backed up in the hard drive on one of the partitions, which lets me install it at any given time through samsung's Recovery Solution App) HDD S.M.A.R.T. Partiotions and Resource Manager graphs Graph while playing OSU. The ScrnShot was not take during gameplay, but the spikes on the Hard Drive graph are during the gameplay. Also, the times the lag, or lag spikes occur during the game are not visible on the game's frame rate counter. -
So last week I bought an Asus x750jn and got rid of windows 8 as fast as I could. Installed windows 7 64bit and the drivers. (well what I could find so far for windows 7) I tried to install ubuntu with exe and bootable USB and no luck. Tried to install kali with a bootable USB, Installed but it doesn't give me a boot option to it. Any idea how to fix it? thanks

Is it worth me buying windows 8.1? given that windows 9 is on its way, looks much more stable and may work out cheaper. I already have windows 7

Hey hoping someone can help me with this, (I'm new to the forum btw so any kind of post etiquette I've missed please feel free to correct me). My Alienware Aurora R4 started bluescreening randomly a few months ago. Often the system would power on but fail to POST for several hours after bluescreening as well. The crashes were caused by various different drivers and often with different error codes though the most common was DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL caused by the drivers storport.sys and iaStorA.sys, (all the minidump files can be found here). However they all crashed at the same address (ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0). I looked around online and found here that this can be caused by faulty memory and/or a faulty mobo memory slot. I ran memtest86+ and my system crashed and decided this must be the cause of the problem. After replacing my memory (I replaced my GPU at the same time as I was so certain new RAM would fix the problem I thought an upgrade was justified) the system now POSTs 100% of the time but continues to blue-screen occasionally, and since then crashes have occurred at a different address in memory. I switched the dimms into two different slots and this didn't solve the problem. I have run virus scans and TDSSKiller. I have disk checked both my hard drives and run SeaTools on them. I have updated my BIOS, chipset, intel RSTe, GPU, integrated audio and usb controller drivers. I have run Prime95 for several hours and have run Intel Processor Diagnostics Tool. I have run system file check and no errors were found. Using windows restore points did not solve the problem and when I tried to reinstall windows my system crashed (this was before I replaced my memory and I haven't tried since but if necessary I will try again). My system is not overclocked. Any help or suggestions for things to try would be greatly appreciated. Current system specs: Alienware Aurora R4 (late 2011) CPU: Intel 3930K @3.2Ghz GPU: Nvidia GTX 760 RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz SSD: LiteOnIt LAT-256M2S Hard drive: Seagate ST31000524AS Mobo: Alienware 07jnh0, X79/C600 chipset PSU: Dell 525 watt M821J OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit

Hey, So after setting up a separate partition on the the same drive (Windows 10 Tech Preview) my drive's head has been almost constantly moving no matter if im on Win10 or my main OS, Win7. The drive is about 4 months old. (A WD 1TB Caviar Blue) Suggestions? -

Hi, The short answer-my computer has been freezing on video games and after crashing the process cannot be closed even in task manager. Recently (in the last month) my computer has been stuttering and leading to an eventual freeze on all computer games. The stuttering can begin instantly or take several hours of solid gaming, they start as small stutters and sound loops but eventually the whole game crashes. The second problem is once the games have crashed the application exits but in task manager the process is apparently still going on, even when you try to end it or the process tree. This then causes my computer to freeze every minute or so for 10-30 seconds and the only way to stop this is with a hard shut down. I have also done stress tests on GPU and PSU which have both caused my computer to suddenly turn off. Could it be a power issue? My specs- CPU-AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.20GHz RAM-2x2GB DDR3 and 2x4GB DDR3 (i tried both as i enitially thought this was a problem) Hard Drives-Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB (used for Applications and OS) -Western Digital Blue 1TB (used for game and file storage) GPU-Sapphire HD 7850 2048MB GDDR5 PSU-Winpower plus 650w Motherboard-ASUS M4N68T-M V2 OS-Windows Home Premium 64-bit

(I'm using Windows 7 and an AMD 6870) When I open Catalyst Control Center -> Information -> Software, it says my Opengl version is 6.14.10.12618. It also says my Direct3D version is 9.14.10.01001. How do I relate these long strings of numbers to what interactions of Opengl like 4.0-4.4? I did notice that 4.10 is actually part of that number for Opengl, but it looks strange. I've read that Windows 7 was at first announced to not have 11.1 support, but then later This Happened. It makes me wonder how DX12 will be implemented for Win7. I'm still confused about the differences between 11 and 11.1 or 11.2 for my Steam Library. In Windows 7 can you change whether games run with DirectX or Opengl? Is that an option and if so how does that change things? I'm planning on getting a video card in the future related to having DX12 support that will with Windows 7 and performance at least equivalent to a GTX 760 for less than $200.

I've recently completed a build (you can view the hardware here) but I'm not able to install Windows 7 64-bit. When it restarts (part of the installation process) it gets stuck in an infinite reboot loop. I've tried clearing the CMOS but it still gets stuck in a reboot loop. I'll be able to post pics in a week or so but if you know a way I can break the loop I'd appreciate the help.

I have been trying to backup my dell laptop Inspiron 1545 Pentium Dual Core t4500 2.3ghz 64bit windows 7 I have an Iomege 1tb external hard drive where I have a bunch of file that are extremely important copied in folders. I need to backup this laptop because the hard drive is going to be going bad very soon. I get an error code 0x8078002A it seems to be an issue with windows 7 backup I have posted a question here (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/120373-windows-backup-error-with-iomega-ego-1tb-drive/) that appears to be an issue with the backup on windows 7 and hard drives. As far as I have searched its just a issue with windows 7 backup program and I could not find a solution to this currently so I am looking for third party back up programs that I could use and backup the pc without ruining my files on the external in the process. Any of these would extremly helpful for future backups as well. I also have a cloning kit from Corsair and a new harddrive coming in probably this tuesday, so another question would be would it be easier to just clone this hard drive to the new one and avoid the back up for now?

So today I noticed my 16GB of ram was at 100% for no reason and did not drop down at all. I have no clue what the issues is but I can tell running my computer makes the ram rise up more and more. It idles around 10-30% 30 when on chrome and stuff but im dumbfounded on whats happening. I got Microsoftware Essentials running a full scan just incase I downloaded something bad and Iv gone through resource manager, and it shows Chrome and Skype use the most when there using nothing around the amount that its totaling. Anyone can help?

Hey guys, I have been attempting to record a game called Starcraft 2 with everything from DxTory to obs capture program. The only problem is when I load into a match it immediately changes my microphones gain to 100 when i like it to be around 30-35. To fix this i have to go into my control panel (->Sound&Hardware->Sound->Recording->Properties) and adjust the gain back down to where i want it.This problem has persisted since i started recording but now its limiting my ability to stream and its driving me up the wall. I recorded a short video a few minutes ago of the problem happening in real time. I replaced my old PSU that broke (couldn't turn on PC) with a new PSU. The problem is, now, I freeze when Windows is starting. I try to do Startup Repair after force shutting down, but after loading, it freezes. Is this due to the PSU or the HDD, or even the RAM?

For the past about month my PC has been taking about 20-30 seconds on the Windows logo screen while booting, anyone got a clue why? There's nothing like a external HDD plugged in on boot which can slow it down. (specs in signature)

Hello everybody, Today I brought my Schoolpc home because we are getting new ones. It is running xp and I want it to have windows 7. Some of my classmates have already running windows 7 on them so today I am trying to do the same. Said that I now have got a problem. Because this laptop only wants to boot from a harddrive was I forced to put my copy of windows 7 on a formatted harddrive that I inserted into the PC (when I tried with an exteral HDD it told me that "bootmgr" wasn't there). Right now the only thing it does is displaying a black screen with the "_" blinking in the upperleft corner. It is sitting displaying that for like an hour now and I don't know what to do. The bios is also not accessible while I don't have the password and it is vacation time right now:( maybe you can help me out! thanks in advance,

So I've been trying to install windows 7 on my Lenovo S410p by creating a new partition of 100GB. When I first tried to install windows7 the installer said the partition is not GPT something(?) but I ignored it, proceed. After the laptop restart the first time, the installer will get stuck at windows7 loading screen. After i force shut down and turn to my windows8.1, it says my laptop is not compatible. Then I run Upgrade Advisor and noticed the only thing incompatible was Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller. Does formatting the whole disk help? Had some problem with this w8.1 and is it even important?

Hello! So I recently bought the TP link wdn4800 adapter instead of using my usb one, however instantly I ran into strange issues. My connection went from excellent to poor to disconnecting. Then I tried to reinstall the drivers to see if that is an issue, also installed all the drivers from my motherboards site which is : Gigabyte GA970-UD3 Rev.3 The card is in the first PCI slot available, also tried other ones but it didn't appear to have any effect regardless. Running windows 7 64-bit.

I have a windows 7 operating system. In the lower right of my screen there is a "BOX" that i cannot click anything in. Its like an invisible void.. I cannot click anything there when using the internet, skype, battlelog from BF3. However in a video game things work fine.. So help me.... The one change that has occured was a mouse change a week before the issue began... However the mouse works fine it seems and its almost as if there is an invisible box. MCafee has warned me every day that there is a virus and i click remove but it willnot let me remove it.... Maybe Mcafee is the issue? Help please. thanks.

Help!!!!! I have a an xps 15 laptop installed samsung 840 pro in the main hd slot and then a msata 128 gb drive and then I took out my optical drive and got hd caddy and installed my original 750gb hard drive in the caddy then in the optical spot. when I go in the bios i can see the 750gb but when im in windows I cant see it anywhere even when I right click my computer and manage and storage ect.... I had been running it off the ssd's for the last 2 weeks and its all been great It just wont show the new/old as this is tech the original drive for this computer. any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated also just to make sure my basis are cover I have a usb to sata converter and I can hook the 750gb drive up to usb and it shows like an external so i know drive is not bad also checked the connections all tight and looked good checked 2x

Hey guys. I want to get your opinions on something I am thinking about doing. I recently acquired an OCZ 120GB SSD. My secondary desktop (core 2 duo) has an older 80GB intel SSD in it. My i5 hp laptop has a 250GB mechanical drive in it. Do you think it would be worth it to re install windows 7 on the OCZ and my secondary desktop and then take the 80 GB Intel and re install windows 7 on my laptop. I don't use my laptop very rigorously and think it would give it ultra book like performance that would be nice for what I do with it. Take it to class, do hw, surf the web and what not. It seems like a bit of work so I haven't done it yet. Give me your thoughts and ask questions if there is something you want to know. Thanks, Steven

So last night i put up my computer on as i was downloading a game from steam and there was many powercuts while i was sleeping . Now in the morning when i pressed the display button on my monitor it showed hazzy blurred image and i pressed restart button now windows isnt booting up after the bios screen.

*Please move this to a subtopic, I wasnt sure whether to put this in cases or operating systems* As you may know the H440 has no optical drive bays, however I was planning on installing Windows 7 by disk. I do have a flash drive that is large enough to hold the install so this is what I was thinking: Is it possible to copy everything from the windows installation disk, put it on the flash drive, then boot from that? Would it work? Thanks
