Hi All... After watching the latest WAN show and hearing Luke having issues with StreamDeck and older Windows versions, I decided to whip up a quick compatibility tool for running StreamDeck on Windows7/8. Why doesn't StreamDeck work on older windows versions?: StreamDeck is built against the Visual Studio 2017 'Minimal' runtime, which includes 'Shims' for certain api calls, since this is one of the newer runtimes, it contains a few functions which aren't available on Windows 7 or 8.1 out of the box. The runtime is required when building C++/Native applications using Visual Studio. How does the compatibility tool work?: First, it requires you to download the latest MSI installer for StreamDeck from Elgato's site (https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/downloads). Then, it bootstraps the installer to allow for it to install onto your system. After installing, it will install the Visual Studio 2013 runtime (If not already installed). Finally, the bootstrap will place 3 'Shim' dlls into the StreamDeck folder, which wrap the functions required to run StreamDeck. The 'Shims' are linked against the older runtime and provide workarounds for the various missing API calls. Notes: If you have StreamDeck 'partially installed' from a previous attempt on your older OS, uninstall it first. Extract the zip archive first before running the tool. This is currently working as of 6/16/2018, should compatibility break again, hit me up with a message. Please note that this is in no way endorsed by Elgato and in addition, is provided AS-IS with no warranty provided. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. That being said, If you do give it a go, please post your results here. I have only tested the tool on Windows 7 (64bit, which is required anyways). However I do not see any compatibility issues with 8.1 using the same method... StreamDeckCompat.zip

Okay I tried taking an SSD out of one laptop and put it I into a new laptop and run it. SSD was the boot drive in the old laptop and everything worked. I put it into the new machine and I can’t boot. If I make my windows partition active it says bootmgr is missing. If I make my system reserved partition active, it says boot\bcd is not found. I have tried every single possible combination of things that I found on the internet. Bcdedit, bcdboot, fixboot, fixboot, fixmbr, rebuildbcd, and I’m getting nowhere. If you can quote the solution off of some webpage, I’ve probably already tried it. I need help with this ASAP please. Does anyone know what the bcdstore is and where it supposed to be? It doesn’t even boot in the old laptop anymore. And then I’d like to know the reason why I can’t just swap SSDs and expect it to work and what’s the best way of doing that.

I uninstalled the amd drivers so I can install a lower version because my game was getting an error from the higher version. after the uninstallation the desktop always freezes so i tried to install the drivers on safe mode.but it shows "Error 99 – AMD Installer Cannot Continue Because the Driver has not Been Digitally Signed" so i cannot complete installing the driver. I have also tried using system restore but i says was not completed because of something p.s: on device manager under the display adapter it shows standard vga graphics adapter p.p.s: on dxdiag under the display tab. nothing shows there.

Hello! So I successfully setup my first dual boot by creating a partition to install/run Windows 7 on. However, it seems I cheaped-out on space when I originally made the partition. When I go attempt to 'Extend Volume' it is grayed-out for this partition. Is there a way for me to do this? Or would I need to wipe the partition and do it again with a larger partition this time?

my story starts with the recent Intel security scare. i looked into it a fair bit yesterday and proceeded today to catch up on all of my windows updates. the first batch of 59 went off without a hitch and i was about to go on with my day when i saw that more updates were available. i download the three updates and they install successfully. i go to restart my pc then after it shuts down it gives me this screen. (see attached picture) so now i am stuck in quite the dilemma. i have a 30GB ssd with windows on it but my MB refuses to see it as a boot drive. i have a full system backup on one of my 2 3tb green archive drives, but since i can't boot i can't acess it. i have a windows 7 install cd but i'm not willing to wipe my main boot ssd just 2-3 months after i got it back up and running AGAIN. i have some spare magnetic drives i could load windows onto but once i do that i have no idea what to do. with the situation now fully explained i have a few questions. 1. what is the fastest and safest way for me to get my boot ssd running again? 2. can i use my system recovery to restore my boot ssd? 3. what is the possibility of having to reload my windows? 4. why on earth did the windows update do this and how can i avoid it in the future? i eagerly await responses to this post and hope that i get helpful info soon.

Hello LTT-ites! So, it seems I am not the only one who is running into this issue but despite my research I am still having trouble with this "...device drivers are missing" issue I am coming across when trying to install Windows 7 from USB. I have ensured that I am not plugging into a USB 2.0 port; additionally, I got the older plug-in mouse/keyboard types so that's working. It's just when I try to install I receive the aforementioned error - additionally, when I search within the hard drive I am trying to install from it shows as a folder, but doesn't show any files in it. I believe my issue is drivers? Maybe? I am not just not sure to be honest - first time trying to dual boot. My Windows 10 install was much easier so *shrugs*. I have an i7-7700 CPU and Asrock B250M MOBO for what it's worth. Any help/advice is appreciated!

Trying to install windows 7 on my M6700 because windows 10 is being ass (there's a whole thread on that here), if I leave the eGPU connected windows will bluescreen on boot or during installation with the error 'BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant'. Now it should be ACPI compliant but because of the eGPU and BIOS mods I am not surprised. I tried both UEFI and CSM (Legacy) boot modes and both have the same error. Any help would be appreciated, if I disconnect the eGPU between POST and booting windows 7 it works fine and Windows 10 works "fine".

TL;DR: I'm trying to change my SATA mode from AHCI to RAID so I can add a RAID 1 setup to my Windows 7 system. I'm doing everything outlined in this guide, but I get blocked by "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" no matter what I try. Background: I've got my rig set up with a Intel 240GB SSD as my boot drive and a WD Black 1 TB as my storage drive, both hooked up to SATA ports provided by my MB's Intel chip. What I want to do now is set up two WD Black 6 TB drives in RAID 1 so I get 6 TB's worth of redundant storage added to this setup. Since RAID is not supported by my MB's ASMedia chip, all four of my drives are now hooked up to the Intel chip. Please check the bottom for full system specs. Current State: The system boots fine only when SATA mode is set to AHCI, the same mode Windows 7 was installed under. All 4 drives show up properly in Device Manager, Disk Management, Intel Rapid Storage Technology Application, and the BIOS. Under Advanced > PCH Storage Configuration, AHCI mode can be successfully changed to RAID mode. Under RAID mode, all 4 drives show up properly in the RAID management interface (pressing CTRL+I during POST). The RAID management interface can be used to (seemingly) successfully create a RAID 1 volume with the two WD Black 6 TB drives. Installation of Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver downloaded from Asus' website terminates after reboot with a error message demanding Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 even though 4.6.1 is already installed. Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver downloaded directly from Intel's website installs successfully and appears to run normally. The Issue: Even after editing the registry as outlined in this Overclock.net guide, I still get the same "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" message and can't boot into Windows under RAID mode. Changing back to AHCI mode, however, allows me to boot into Windows just fine. I never saw anything indicating the installation of new RAID drivers, if that is supposed to happen after editing my registry. Hey, some time ago I had Windows 10 installed on my system but because I got some Bluescreens after the Anniversary Update and decided to go back to Windows 7. The Problem was solved and everything worked fine... for some days/weeks. After a time my PC started freezing without a reason, no matter if I played WoW, Rainbow 6, GTA V or just watched youtube videos. My System is overlocked so I tried the default settings and this didn't solve the problem. The freezes doesn't appear everyday but sometimes they appear 4-5 times a day. I already googled for it but didnt found something that helps, I hope you guys can help me out My System : CPU : AMD FX8320 @4240Mhz - 1.3625V GPU : AMD R9 290X @1080Mhz Core RAM : G.Skill RipJaws 1333Mhz (8GB) Mainboard : ASRock 970 Performance SSD : Samsung SSD 850 Evo PSU : be quiet Straight Power e7 700w Already tried prime95 stress test for 4 hours without a failure. Overheating can't be the problem too, while gaming my CPU is between 41°C and 54°C and my GPU is between 40°C and 67°C

So I am building a PC which is going to be EVENTUALLY used for software development as well as a general personal use PC; however, I am initially going to use it to convert/re-download over 2TB of video (lots of small files, not a few large files; about ~100k video files of various formats alone), as well as to convert and edit my 10k song collection of flac's. Time is not too big of an issue, but my dell laptop running an N2840 is just not cutting it; especially when I am also always compressing/decompressing files and running 2 dozen tabs on Chrome. So far my build plan is (owned items are italicized): -Gigabyte H170n m-itx motherboard -Corsair 250D case -2x 2tb WD green drives -Samsung 850evo 120gb (currently running OS on the laptop) -16gb DDR4 2133 kingston hyperfuryX -Intel 600p 256gb (Will be main OS, 850evo ain't cutting it) -500W silverstone strider bronze modular PSU (settling on silvestone cause I already own modular cable kit PP05E for it) -GTX 750STRIX (used to game, not much anymore) -Finally, I can't decide whether to doll out the extra $100 for an i5-6400 or stick with an I3-6100 (dilemma here is whether I need the 2 extra cores, the i3 has HT) budget wise, I can't afford an i7, and the 16gb of ram choice was made since im currently topping 6gb of ram usage on my pc currently tl;dr: If im building a PC strictly for file conversion, compression, storage, compiling, and web browsing (SIMULTANEOUSLY); would I be better of with 4 cores or is i3 with 2(4) cores enough?

Hi Guys! For about 2 months now, I am having issues withy my W7 64 Bit computer. Recently it's getting a lot warmer than it used to be, and now it's getting slower. It's booting up fast, however, once it enters W7, it is slowing down and uses around 60% CPU when idling. As far as I can see, all drivers are up to date (Bios, GPU, et cetera). Here are the Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit Intel I5 4960K Devil's Canyon Quad Core 3,5 GHz 32GB Corsair XMS3 (4x8GB) 240pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600 2x EVGA GTX 970 2GB Gaming w/ACX 2.0+ (with Medium SLI Bridge) MSI Z97S SLI PLUS Samsumg840 EVO SSD 500gb (With W7 installed) WD 2TB 7200RPM HDD EVGA SuperNova G1 650W 80+Gold 4x Corsair ML120 Fans Malware Antibytes and MSE found nothing, I've put the Intel Procesor Diagnostic Tool into a Burn-In test, and the first one was failed (Message was "Check Thermal Compound), however, a 2nd test passes just fine. Recently I had several event 43 errors with the old PSU (Seasonic 750W), but this ended after I installed the EVGA PSU. shortly after that, the new problems started. I have ordered new thermal compound and I am awaiting the arrival of it. Any suggestions?

Yesterday i bought my new build rigs. Asus Z170A i5 6600k Corsair H100i V2 Asus Dual Series GTX 1070 8Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 266mhz Super Flower Leadex 750watt Gold NZXT H440 I build my first PC. I followed everything youtube says from Linus, JoanneTech, TechSource, Science Studio. Cable. Wired. As well as book instructions. All goes smoothly. Then i used Optical Drive for Temporary to install windows 7 HP 64bit SP1 from physical disc with License Key i had. I tried to plug my USB Flash drive into my system to install drivers. It didn't detect anything. Can't read my USB Flash Drive. I tried all ports. Front and Rear Pannel. USB 3.0 & USB 2.0. Tried all ports. USB ports working on my Razer Keyboard & Mice but not working for USB flash drive. I tried on my old PC system. Able to read and auto play. Open files but no on my New system build. I tried to install motherboard disc via Optical Drive but seems like the inatallation is stucked. Not working. So i can only use USB Flash drive to install drivers. Have anyone encounter this before? I searched many forums and asked people. Non have the answer. Tom's Hardware not so helpful.. Please help.

Buying a new RX 480 soon and want to know if there's any performance difference between Windows 7 and Windows 10. I'm currently using Windows 7. Any potential pros/cons for upgrading?

Help me please. Since today was the last day for the free Windows 10 upgrade,I said hey why not and downloaded the installer. I have heard of the bugs and all it had with Asus boards but I said "probably won't happen to me." Wish I didn't... Now everything was going fine, It downloaded and was installing on that circle thing screen and it was at around 60%-70% or Im not sure I wasnt looking but it had been 10 minutes since I looked at it at 49%. It rebooted and I thought this was one of those reboots its been doing troughout the installation, then it suddenly opened the windows 10 bootup screen. I thought, that was quick and a screen of , "Windows couldn't start properly" greeted me. I said retry a few times and finally I gave up and decided to rollback to windows 7. Now I can't boot into any of the OS, I have a Usb with a windows loader on it but when I boot it from the Usb it just gives me the flashing white underscore. There is no previous back-up to backup from so Im screwed. I tried unplugging the harddrive with windows 10 in it, didn't work, I tried FixMbr and ScanOS, came up with 0. I don't know what to do. Also I tried looking in the partition windows 10 opened with EZ Flash 2, It says, failed to read the disk or directory. I can see win7 files just fine.

I need help upgrading my PC from windows 7 to windows 10. The problem: Every time i try to upgrade to windows 10 i get error code 8007002C-4000D This happens when i try to upgrade to windows 10, it starts to upgrade and shows the upgrading screen but it gets to 93% and then states "Restoring to previous windows" (windows 7) Solutions i have tried but have failed: 1). Making sure every driver is up to date, installing all the windows updates available (meaning i keep going back to check for windows updates until it cant find any) 2). Deactivate avast and try upgrading offline (no internet) 3). Installing 3rd party software that others claim has helped such as Reimage repair 4). Checking windows 10 compatibility (it is) 5). Calling microsoft support, they weren't helpful since its a custom build. Things to be noted: - I have already had windows 10 previously on my PC, however i had some issues with installing the new nvidia driver (...69) for my gtx 970. - Drivers were unsuccessful in installing and one thing led to another so i decided to factory reset my PC and now im back at windows 7. I could really use some help with this issue since i only have until the 29 to upgrade for free. Anyone have nay suggestions?

hey all, my brother is having and issue with windows 7 failing to install sp1. he says it has failed several times to successfully install and it is currently attempting to revert back, but on the update screen the system has essencially halted progress and has been doing so for hours. now normally i'd just tell him to do exactly what the update screen says not to do and shut down the system. but in this case im not sure exactly what would happen. so should we let it run for a while longer? or shut it down and attempt to install the pack again with a fix i found on microsoft's website? not sure what to do.... any ideas?

I've had this problem for a while, still dont know how to fix it. I tried everything they said, nothing worked. I didn't really care at first when I saw svchost.exe using about 1.5 gigs of ram but later on when it went up to 2.2GB I had to do something about it. I tried many different things but none of them worked. I had Windows Update disabled for a few months yet I still see the wuauserv running on svchost, I disabled it from anywhere I can on the computer but it seems I just can't get rid of it. When I stop wuauserv using Procexp it stops, but next time I reboot the computer it comes back of course. I also tried a few things with BITS, nothing seem to have effected it. Is there possibly a way to get rid of wuauserv permanently? I tried Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus scans, all clear. Im sorry, In the picture everything is in Turkish but It should do the job, If you need an English one please just tell me. I need help Win 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 Asus M5A78L-MX3 8Gigs of Kingston idfk Amd FX6300BE
