I've been considering switching to Linux for a while, and therefore want to dualboot it with my windows install to get a feel for it and test compatibility. When I try and shrink my SSD's main volume, Windows only allows me to shrink it by a maximum of 3.5 GB; even though I have around 150GB of my 240GB drive left. Would anyone happen to know why this is and how to resolve it?

So I get 23Mb/s D speed and 6Mb/s U speed with no network programs active, but when I download a game on steam/xbox/epic it downloads it at <3Mb/s????. I looked in task manager and it shows service host: network service is using almost all of my bandwidth. I've turned off delivery optimization, the only sub task running in it, and it still hasn't fixed my issue. Could anyone please tell me what's causing this and what options i have to fix this?

Hello, when I first installed W10 LTSC version 1607 back in 2018 it had airplane mode, since then I updated to version 1809, then to 21H2, and in both of these versions there is NO airplane mode, there is no button in the bottom right menu (action center), in the services menu the "radio management service" is present, but when I change it to work automatically or restart it nothing happens, I tried to update my ethernet drivers, I tried resetting the network settings and nothing came up. The airplane mode is present in the lock screen but it's greyed out and I can't click it, also there is no button for it in windows's "network and internet section", I tried typing "reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\RadioManagement\SystemRadioState /ve /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f" in cmd, rebooted my PC, and xD it appeared on my login screen, I was able to click it on and off, but when I did log in it did not appear in my action center, and in my lock screen it is still greyed out (after rebooting again the button for air mode did not appear on my login screen). Any ideas on what I can do to bring it back? My theory is that it might have something to do with the third party program "WinAero Tweaker" that turns off telemetry and other "spooky" stuff in your windows 10, BUT before I had this program on ver. 1809 I still did not have airplane mode, so it might've not made difference.

I need to kill all connections to a COM device after some uncontrolable code runs which uses this COM device. Some times these uncontrolable code may not close properly and causes the COM device to be unavailable. I am unable to disable or uininstall this COM device while the unknown active connection is present, for these require a reboot and I can not have the computer lose internet connectivity. I have tried both pnputil and devcon, both have the same issue. If i try to go up the connection tree (dont know proper name for this), and try to disable USB hub, same issue occurs *Also this is remote headless PC, I am unable to physicaly disconnect this USB device Thanks in advance

Hey, I have Windows 10 Home 22H2 x64 and I'm trying to combine my hard drives into a RAID 10 I have them all directly connected to my motherboard and I don't think it has an onboard RAID controller, I also don't have any PCIe slots left So I wanted to use software RAID in Windows I have read that it's pretty simple, that I simply have to set up 2 mirrored volumes and then make a striped volume with those 2 mirrored volumes. Th problem is, I don't have the option to makw mirrored volumes. Can anyone help me?

I use dual monitor setup. When i click on the windows button from my right screen, the left part would glitch as seen in the video. And then for a few seconds it would be just stuck there. I tried pressing ctrl + shift + windows key + b all at once. I tried going to task manager and restart file explorer. But nothing works. Thought maybe wallpaper engine might be the cause but no. Same thing when I completely closed off wallpaper engine, even after I uninstalled it too. Heck, I even reinstalled the whole windows 10 from cloud download. Worked for a little bit right after reinstallation but then went back to the same issue again. This is new computer I recently build. This is the only issue I'm having. I had a Ryzen 3 2200g on a asrock a320m-hd and decided to upgrade it to a Ryzen 5 2600x to keep up with my rx 580. I've installed the new cpu, booted up, in the bios everything seemed normal (except for the cpu temp, i was getting 60°, but I'm still going to test if it will perform normally). When I booted to windowsit started performing auto repair, failed and then opened the manual repair options. I tried reinstalling windows keeping my files but it failes. Booting up using safe mode failed. Tomorrow I'm going to try and remove the cpu to check if everything is allright but I have no idea of what could be going on edit: fixed it, the pc was booting up on my hard drive, the windows is installed in my ssd.

Originally had windows 10 and (free) upgraded to windows 11 almost a year ago. Recently fully reset (cleared all drives) my pc because I am going to give my pc to my bro. when reinstalling windows i thought it would revert back to windows 11 with my windows key code when i reinstalled windows on my pc. I tried to check for updates and did the pc health check and got all green checkmarks but the update wont show up in my updates i did some research if the free upgrade is still available but it ended a couple months ago from what ive seen. any fix for this so i can go back to windows 11 ? if you need more info from me to clarify please let me know

Hello everyone, I am new. Since I installed this Qbittorent program, it's been giving me problems that after a few hours the application crashes by itself. I tried on 2 different PCs and both give the same problem, I only have 4 torrents active on one PC while I have more on the other. I'm attaching the windows event logs and the Qbittorent logs, in the hope that some of you can figure out what's going on. Yes, I've changed the settings of the Qbittorrent program if you're wondering. Hello, I’ve been dealing with this Critical error for quite some time now. The issue only happens when I’m gaming and at completely random times. Sometimes I’ll go weeks without getting any, and sometimes I’ll get four in one day like I did the other day, which finally prompted me to create this post. The error sends me straight to a BSOD and reads WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR but other than that I’ve had a hard time diagnosing the problem because a minidump file is not being made upon each crash even though I have taken all the proper procedures to make sure one is created. Other than that it feels like I’ve tried everything. I upgraded my power supply from a 650w-750w PSU, I made sure my temps were staying at healthy levels while gaming, I checked for any corrupt system files, I made sure my bios was up to date, and I ran the memory diagnostic and found nothing wrong. I even tried to recreate the problem by using Cinebench and Heaven benchmark but had no luck with either of them. I’m pretty much at my wit's end trying to solve this problem as I’ve had it for over a year now and am close to just rebuilding my PC from the ground up. Please help! Been trying to fix my brothers audio and getting more and more confused. In audio settings neither the G PRO X Headphones or Microphone works, but when I switch to Realtek speakers he can hear audio which is fine, but microphone still doesn't work. I'm assuming this is some kind of driver issue, but I've reinstalled the G PRO drivers multiple times and it doesn't make any difference whatsoever. I also tried to uninstall all audio drivers incase there was some interference but when I restarted they were all still there, hence my confusion. Is his PC just haunted by a troll ghost? Also unrelated but he has this strange ducking issue in Windows where all audio lowers to a certain % when someone in Discord speaks etc, I set Communications settings to 'Do nothing' but that did nothing.

So I'm in the process of building my first pc and I would like it to run Windows 10 pro since that's what I'm used to. Now Microsoft has announced they won't be selling the license anymore and I heard there was a way I can keep using the license from my laptop? I would appreciate someone explaining all this to me. Thx

Hi all, recently started working on a home server setup and I've come across a bit of a problem. I have the machine installed and running Proxmox. I know the machine is working because I see it connected in my router devices list. When I go to the local IP of the server on port 8006 I should be able to access the Proxmox web interface and configure the server. On my mobile phone this works just fine in Fennec browser. But on my desktop I get an "unable to connect error" whether I use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. I have already tried turning off Windows firewall then refreshing the page but to no avail. I really don't know what is causing this and I feel it must be a problem with my browsers or my Windows setup itself. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

For the past month or so i've had a issue where my PC, while running GTA 5 it will randomly shut my PC off completely, no blue-screen, nothing, lights go out and monitors to black. And it now happens no matter what when I run Red Dead 2. I've checked crash reports hoping for some sort of info but windows just says a error, literally nothing other than that, I believe its the PSU almost guaranteed as it isn't the best and its somewhat older of a PSU (non-modular with lovely mustard and ketchup cables) but i'm not 100% sure of it, and don't have the budget to buy a new one only for me to be wrong. The only way for me to being able to turn the PC back on after this is by hitting the PSU power switch off then back on or unplugging it, I wouldn't be surprised if the PSU is now just weaker or what but that's what I believe it is, any help/possible ideas that it could be just in case its not the PSU being bad now? Spec's Mobo is a Asus sabertooth z77,CPU is a i7 3770k, PSU is power spec 500w,GPU is gtx 1050,ram is 20gb of Samsung ddr3,q cpu cooler is a hyper 212 evo, SSD is a adata su635 (yes ik it's cheap and unrealiable) 5 Seagate barracuda 2 tb hdd's .... This is gonna be kind of long winded and I apologize in advance just covering everything I've done and tried so my issues started when I went to fix the wire mess that someone had made before me because I bought this PC off fb market place and they didn't bother cable managing at all. it had windows 11 when I got it everything worked great no issues haven't had any issues till I went to cable manage. I went thru made everything look nice and clean made sure no cables were too tight everything was nice and snug plugged in back where it's supposed to be. I go to boot back up and windows 11 has a issue and it tried fixing itself but couldn't I tried all the recovery tools in windows 11 and nothing worked the PC refused to load windows 11. So I thought maybe my ssd died or maybe I didn't let the PC boot down fully enough and it corrupted the data even tho it was off completely when I started. I tried reinstalling windows 11 and it says it's not compatible with my PC even tho I was just on it so I decided I'll just install windows 10 instead and avoid that headache. when I install windows 10 I let it do it's thing the only thing I install on the computer is my wifi adapter driver I let the PC download updates. then I click restart and update PC restarts boots up goes to boot into windows does the loading screen then the screen just goes black and my PC stays on (or the windows loading screen will appear it'll do the circle loading icon and then freeze after 1 minute). I thought maybe it's my GPU somehow so when the black screen appears and PC is still on I hit Ctrl windows key shift and b to see if it makes a sound and it doesn't which means windows is not even loading. thought maybe I killed this cheap shitty SSD that's why Windows keeps freezing I'll install on another hdd so I tried one of my 2tb barracudas still the same issue. so I take all my ram out only put one stick back in switch gpu's to a gtx 950 just Incase it is my GPU somehow. I switch PSU to my friends evega 650 watt power supply just Incase it was the psu going bad I have reset the bios updated the bios redid all the wiring again making sure everything was nice and snug but not to snug. leaving only one hdd plugged in it at a time I've reset every hdd I have trying to install windows loosing terabytes of data in the process just trying to solve this issue. I've tried a different USB stick to create the windows 10 install media even and I'm booting thru uefi .....I don't get what I'm doing wrong or forgetting to trouble shoot but I have tried every possibility I can think of it has to be windows that causing this issues...I can install Linux and it works just fine I can't connect to the internet since Linux doesn't support my wifi adapter and I have no way to plug into Ethernet but it boots into Linux just fine with no issues

What a great way to start the year. My pc was forcefully shutoff during restart on new years. Once getting past the bios screen it infinitely loads. F keys, (F8 and F2) that I have been told allow you to access recovery or safe mode just send me to bios or ask me to select a boot drive. The bios is some Asus Tuf bios that i have not found to be covered in any guides and after searching for about 30 minutes i could not find any recovery mode access. When exiting bios the computer enters automatic repair mode and has the same infinite loading state and says nothing about repairing any drives or files. The only other thing i can think to note is that on start up the pc immediately shuts off before turning back on, maybe because of it being shutdown improperly while restarting but i have no way of knowing that.

Hello, I have my Windows installation on a "SanDisk Extreme PRO M.2 NVMe 3d SSD 500GB" and for storage two 2TB SATA SSDs and a 250GB SATA SSD. Has all worked wonderfully. But I wanted to put the 250GB SATA SSD into a laptop, so I shut down the PC, removed the SSD and and booted the PC back up, only to be greeted with: "Es wurde kein Betriebsystem gefunden... I have a crucial ssd was using it as a primary boot drive for a windows 10 laptop, I don't use this laptop anymore but I often need data from this drive so I put it inside an external hdd usb case and it works as an external drive. My problem is that sometimes it doesn't get recognized at all when connecting it via usb, until i plug it back into the original laptop and boot from it once. My guess is that it have to do with the bootable windows partition on it, but i dont want to fully format it.

I recently purchased an RTX 3070 that was mining for less than 3 months for 350€ (~370$). It was running just fine after my RX 5700xt and installing up to date drivers with DDU. I played for 4 hours after that without any issues and then my PC rebooted. At this point I could only be 1min max in the desktop before It'll turn off and on again. I reinstalled the same driver with DDU after reseating almost everything in my pc, thinking it was a faulty install. I could use the PC for 2 hours before encountering the same behavior plus now I have, some BOSD: video scheduler internal error. After the first crash the GPU was hot to the touch but nor burning. Tere is no funny odors or fumes or anything like that. my specs: ryzen 5 2600 (it'll be replaced with a Ryzen 7 5800x in a week) asus prime B450M-A 2 x 8Go hyperX fury 2666MHz cas 16 EVGA 750w alim what I tried so far: reseating GPU, cables and ram Reinstalling gpu driver with ddu disabling DOCP removing the side panel and putting a fan blowing air into the case I'm using an old 1660ti to avoid using ddu to reinstall my rx5700xt Is the gpu faulty or is it just the cpu / motherboard too old for supporting it correctly? Why could it run fine for 4h and then just crashing?

What are the best free drive cloning software out there right now? I need a free option to help clone a HDD to a SSD in a laptop and im not sure what options are out there that are free. I tried AOMEI's software but that requires a subscription for use. Are there any good non-sketchy cloning programs that are free?

Hopefully someone has some idea as to how to stop this behavior. After I start my PC, the documents folder will open itself, and take focus after a couple of minutes. A few minutes later it opens again automatically. This is really frustrating when in a full screen game, as it minimizes the game and opens "Documents." I searched online and tried a registry value fix (sorry, I do not remember exactly what I looked for, but the recommended key was correct in my system.) I have also looked for viruses with 3 free malware/AV applications.

Hi Hope this is ok here. I recently upgraded from AMD 3600x to 5700X and have really enjoyed it until I went to use my computer one morning and it wasnt posting. After further tries it looks like windows failed to boot (the circles spin 3 times get half way and stops and the screen goes black) This is after the computer was used less than 12 hours before as well. End up using windows recovery and get back into my system after a fresh install of windows keeping all my stuff. Thinking ok 1 install after a new CPU thats ok. Was using my computer this morning after leaving it on overnight to do a download got everything working all was looking good. Had to restart my system and boom windows failing to boot again. The troubleshooter says it was unable to run so do another install of windows and now back into my system. Any ideas what it could be? I updated the Bios on Sunday (28/11/22) to accommodate the new CPU so that's up-to-date, No new windows updates available and the only things i reinstalled yesterday was Chrome, Steam, and Oculus. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hello. Right now I have a asus tuf b360 pro-graming motherboard and a i5 8600k cpu. I am going to upgrade this to a asrock b660 steel legend motherboard and i5 13600k cpu. Someone told me that when i upgrade my motherboard, I will have to buy a new win10 key even though it says "windows is activated with a digital lisence which is linked to the microsoft account". On microsofts own website, it says that as long as the win10 key is linked to the account, I wont need to but a new key... Does anyone know if I need to buy a new key, or can I just reactivate my existing key on the new motherboard?
