Hello! Ever since I installed windows 11, when I boot up as I had win 10 on my hdd and win 11 on my ssd it always brings me up a prompt saying if I want to boot into windows 10 or 11. In my bios my ssd is the 1st in the boot sequence and is but waits 30 seconds for me to decide which version of windows I want to boot into but automatically after the timer boots into wins 11, luckily! So I was wondering if there's a way to get rid of that prompt and just boot to the first storage device in the boot sequence (my ssd) and always come back to windows 10 when I want to a different way or smthn. Right now my hdd is just being used to store files and pictures. Many Thanks, Fire!

Black screen with cursor before Windows 10 log in
askgodtosaveyouu posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hello everyone A couple of hours ago a program crashed "white screened" I was able to restart the computer from my second monitor. When it booted I was met with a black screen and cursor. No key combinations work reset graphics drivers, task manager nothing. I installed the latest BIOS didn't work, CMOS BATTERY change, all peripherals were removed, I tried to install win 10 from a usb same thing but the screen background was purple with a cursor, unplugged and swapped monitor cables, single monitor was tried also. Windows logo doesn't show when booting. Removed and reseated RAM sticks, removed NVMe ssds, the HDDS haven't been removed. -
Is there a way to force the default Hardware Cursor of windows to be on or remain visible even when games draw a software cursor? Many games have a software cursor that is laggy as shit cuz its tied to framerate or sth stupid Examples are High Fleet, Evil Genious 2 and Kenshi (Kenshi luckly has an option to "force Windows cursor") I also heard a game refer to it as "Hand of Evil" Is there a way to replicate that with windows settings or external software? Maybe have it be managed on a per application basis I cant find a suitable solution elswhere has a my exact problem but the tool suggested looks sketchy af

This over run could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application.” and then it closes to desktop

https://www.theskinsfactory.com/wmpdesign Anyone tried this? Its not that i think its malware (already checked, if it is then its not known) but rather that some incompatibilities mess something up possibly?

Little bit of background I am in the process of building a new computer I wanted to try something new by using a RAID 5 setup, but, I am running into some problems for the most part I think I understand how to set it all up through bios but I am having issues figuring out what RAID card to get that best fits my needs been searching around on here for some answers and its kinda all over the place so I figured maybe this is a case by case sort of problem so ill list out what I have so far. First RAID 1/0/10 are not options I don't want to do them even though I understand they are simpler and require less work, I am pushing my self to do a RAID 5 setup. OS: Win 10 Drives: 6x Kingston 120GB A400 SSDs Type of RAID Card: PCIE x8 (no nvme/m.2 pcie) Don't think the rest of the computer matters at this point really just looking for information on what raid card to get; - what's the difference between Controllers and HBA controllers - is there really a need to go full controller over adaptor (maybe this isn't even the right question) - What performance hits will I take going with a lesser brand then over the industry standard brands (LSI vs Intel) - is there any other specifics about raid cards I should consider before buying one that I haven't covered. - what if any software do I need to manage my RAID 5 setup such as in the case if I lose a drive do I need software to rebuild the array. - should I have a raid card with a battery to improve redundancy or is this too cost prohibitive for typical home use. - what exactly is RAID "code" (looks like it has something to do with the algorithm that controls which data goes on what drive but im not 100% sure) and does it even matter for what I am trying to do? - when buying a raid card is ideal to buy 2 of the same card incase one craps out? (see a lot of people ask this question no real answer) - when buying a RAID card is buying used (ebay) considered a bad idea (mostly asking in terms of saving money if possible if I dont need to spend upward of 2000$ that would be nice but if its a must its a must) any help is appreciated thank you very much. edit: been adding some more questions as I am looking for the answers so you may want to refresh every so often if you are considering helping.

not sure if this should be here or under linux So does anyone know how to stop windows 10 20h2 update from automatically reading and adding linux partitions to " disk management ". or should i completely destroy my win10 installation and maybe look for something that they havent fully back-ended, if there is even such a possibility at this point? Im sure they thought they were being helpful, but without my express permission to have done this, or even notifying me in the first place that it was going to happen it shows a complete lack of care both legally and morally in what a computer owner WHOM owns his/her/they hardware might wish to do with it. other than just windows. How am I going to know if something is specifically working in a different OS, if windows could be backdooring the other OS to give it a leg up/ take control from behind the scenes (" fast start up" anyone) ? not to mention that fair and legal has now proven a breach of trust of which it no longer deserves any respect.

I think know why it does this, I bought a new DS4 (controller) and since then it started doing this. How can I turn it off, I think I somehow have to disable the microphone? It didn't do this with my old DS4 (older model) which is weird.

Hey guys, so a friend of mine is window shopping for a graphics card that he might want to buy in future under R2000 (120 USD). What decent budget graphics card can you buy with that budget? Hey guys, I'm currently considering to drop Avast for something else after hearing that it's spyware and at times even malware. Is it true that Avast is malware and spyware? If so, what are some good alternatives to it?

A weird thing happened starting yesterday. My win 10 laptop on startup does NOT start Explorer. Instead I get a black screen with a command prompt showing C:\Windows\System32. If I close the CCMD prompt then I have a totally black screen. CTL-ALT-DEL works and I brought up task manager and ran explorer.exe which started file explorer. The CMD prompt did not disappear until I closed it. I re-started the computer again and the same happened. I typed explorer.exe in the CMD prompt and that also started file explorer. Why does Windows start CMD prompt INSTEAD of explorer.exe?? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi guys, I just wiped my Omen 15-ce020ng and resintalled windows since I plan on selling it soon. The problem is, after I installed all drivers directly from the HP website, I noticed that everytime after I let the Notebook run for about 15 minutes, core 0 is pegged at 100% usage coming from the System process. Restarting fixes the issue for some time, until it happens randomly again. I cant see a pattern, like after starting a program or something. Thing I tried to fix this: Restart in safe mode, full malewarebytes and Defender scan SFC /Scannow Reinstall latest updates Update BIOS Reinstall Windows again I dont really want to sell a notebook with this issue to be honest. All help is appreciated!

A few days back, I decided to upgrade an old Acer Veriton m6610 to Windows 10. As well as adding a used GTX 960 2gb, to maybe use it for gaming here and there. Immediately after the upgrade, as well as a restart, checked Task Manager to see if everything seemed well for the i5 2400. This was when I saw the 100% CPU usage. Curiously though, I wasn't experiencing slowdowns anywhere, so I decided to check how much CPU usage HWMonitor would report, and to my surprise HWMonitor was showing CPU usage on any of the cores to be 0-15%. I've combed over some other forums' answers on lowering CPU usage after an upgrade to WIN 10, but none has worked so far (at least for Task manager to not show 100% all the time). Changing startup programs around, Windows Clean boot/startup, uninstalling - reinstalling drivers and applications, disabling some services (reenabled them after since they showed no difference). Spec Sheet - All the programs were installed on the system when it was still Windows 7, and Task Manager would report CPU usage to be at 1-3% during idle then. - The program with the highest CPU usage isn't always the same, it changes from anything to anything (System services, Open programs, Antivirus, NVIDIA suff, anything). Any recommendations on lowering the CPU usage, or ideas on why Task manager is saying it is on 100%?

Hey guys I came across what seems to be a first for me. I stream on Twitch and do some music creation on the side, so needless to say my 2tb SSHD gets filled up pretty quickly. It had been about six months since the last time I had reset my PC (I do it to keep everything running smooth, would love to know a more efficient way if anyone knows) and it was time to do it again. I go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 and click on the "Download tool now" button, and begin the process. I select "Remove Everything" from "All my drives" and wait for Win10 to do it's thing knowing it will keep all my games and whatnot, just "uninstalling" them to the eyes of Steam, Origin, etc. Fast forward two days to current time and now, sporadically, I will get BSOD'd. The error code itself varies, but it always has something to do with the kernel. Every error code has the word "kernel" in it. Upon further investigation and googling, I was told to run a built in file system checker through the command prompt by typing in "sfc/scannow". Attached to this thread is a screenshot of the result from that process request and the log it provided. TLDR: Reset PC, now I get BSOD's. Can't figure out why, found out it may have to do with corrupt files but unsure. See attachments. My specs in case of relevancy: Thermaltake Smart Series 650W PSU ASRock AB350-m Gaming 3 Mobo AMD Ryzen 1700 with stock cooler, no OC 16 GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM ASUS Dual Fan 1060 6GB no OC Kingston 120 GB SSD (don't remember model, got it for $50) Seagate FireCuda 2 TB SSHD Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit (10.0, Build 18362) CBS.log

I am new to tinkering with Linux KVM so I wanted to ask here for advice. Here is what i was hoping to achieve! 1 Linux Host and 1 Windows VM. Asus ROG Crosshari VIII Formula or Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra S-AM4 ATX perhaps? Is there performance benefits to either option? Ryzen 9 3900X 64GB 3000MHZ DDR4 Geforce 1070 - Windows VM Geforce 1060 - Linux Host 1 Samsung NvME 512 GB - Windows VM 1 Samsung NvME 512 GB - Linux Host x amount of mechanical hdds for storage, etc. Expansion cards for USB/Sound any extra peripherals needed for the VM. (The x570 motherboards dont have a lot of expansion card slots its the two GPU slots and maybe one more. Is there options other options?) Could I benefit from watercooling all this? Or would air coolers be perfectly fine. I am not looking to overclock any of the components. Squeezing fps out of the gaming experience is not what i need. I run my workstation on linux, use KVM to dedicated CPU cores/threads/dies? To the Windows VM, running Win10 to game on. (I know linux gaming has come a long way but i have no great way of using my own game library on DVDs/CDs/ etc in linux so Windows is better option for me). Today I dual boot my rig with a different HDD when I want to game but instead id like to have both machines running at the same time with a dedicated Monitor and shared mouse/keyboard. I work with java/html5 development, network design and support so I use my linux workstation for that. Using cores and memory available to setup test environments in Virtualbox is something i do on a daily basis. When setting up Linux KVM has anyone seen if the Ryzen CPUs can be allocated like per die so the windows VM got one die and my host the other die. Would that even make things better? So that was a little ramble I am just hoping to get some input from you good folks!

So i dual booted win for a while, then i removed the other drive, but the message still remains! It is wasting 5 secs on every boot. Even stupider is that it gives 2 options, win 10 on drive 2, or just a blank option. Yes i will choose the blank option, not. When i dual booted last time that screen just disappeared when removing the drive. What is the easiest way to get rid of it?
