Hi looking for a bit of help. i have wifi connection, and cannot use ethernet cable in my location My question is Will a wifi extender like https://www.netgear.com/home/wifi/range-extenders/ex2700/ Be good Or is a wireless access point better like this https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/access-point/tl-wa901n/ Or is it better just to get a pcie wireless card Like https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/adapters/all-series/pce-ac88/ So yeah what’s gonna give the best speed and connection consistency out of all these wireless options And will there be much improvement from a wireless usb dongle thanks Any help appreciated Cheers Loz

I've been having some issues with my internet lately, and I assume it might be because I have too many things on my network with not enough channels. Current Network: 1.2gb Down/50mb Up Modem: Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 Router: Netgear Nighthawk R7000 Amount of things on wifi: 34 I've been looking through Netgear, TPlink, Cisco, Asus - there's a plethora of options out there. Then there's the option of Wifi 6 vs Wifi 6e, do I really need 6e vs 6, what's the biggest difference between the two, do I just wait out for wifi 7, are any of my devices actually going to be able to utilize these more advanced networks? Only thing I can find are like "top 10 best" router lists, but am always hesitant to put stock in those.

Hi all! Long time LTT watcher here! I'm an IT systems engineer (and lots of other responsibilities they don't pay me enough for:D) as well But... This one has me stumped and it's driving me nuts! So, all advice would be most, most welcome. So, I recently switched phones, to a Samsung Galaxy A52S. Now with this phone, I'm experiencing it's impossible to get a stable connection to my wifi. It'll connect just fine and work for like a minute or less, then it just... stops loading whatever I was trying to load. No matter the site, app or whatever. Second point is, that I only have this problem at home. The wifi at work, I have no issue with Third point, no one else in the house has any issue with the wifi. Further info, my wifi is the Asus ZenWifi AX Mini. I've got two of them, and both are wired through a dumb switch to the modem. The one upstairs goes through a handy little MoCa connector=>Coax=>modem. The one downstairs goes straight to the modem. LAN devices connected the same way never have any issues. I have tried: * forgetting ALL my wifi networks and connecting anew * android is up to date * the firmware on the wifi routers is up to date * I've got no weird apps running that I can tell, I try to run a fairly clean ship - but I'm not rooted so there is always bloatware * 5G works fine * I had some issues with my previous phone, but nowhere close to this. Every few days (or longer) I would have to turn my wifi/on off. That is something other housemates sometimes need to do too, and I also don't know what's causing that. * If I turn my wifi on/off or restart the phone, it also works again... for a minute. * I've restarted all network devices several times * There is no nearby wifi that could cause any issue. The network in question is completely alone in its band. * it does not matter which of the wifi nodes I'm connected to * I tried turning off WiFi6 as well as ipv6 but neither made a difference So... Who can help me with this mystery? P.S. I did ask ChatGPT also but, no dice

Hey guys, So i've had a wifi dongle (Edimax AC600) for the last 6 or 7 years plugged in my pc. It's been years since i've had to use it but now i can't plug ethernet in my pc so i'm trying to get this working again. My problem is i can't get it to work, first i can't left click on the wifi symbol of the task bar, when i get into the network status page of the settings, nothing is showing up, and clicking on show available networks doesn't work either. I've tried to update the driver, by doing it automatically with the device manager and manually with the setup file. Doesn't work. I tried deleting the driver, i tried doing netsh winsock reset in the cmd. Doesn't work. I tried uninstalling the device and restarting my computer, doesn't work. The device descriptions says it's working fine also. Do u guys have any solutions i could try next ? Thanks a lot

Hello there! I am hoping you can assist me with a technical issue that I have been experiencing. Whenever I run a heavy task on my GPU, such as training stable diffusion, my PCIe Wifi adapter becomes disconnected from the network. Of note I can still see available networks, but cannot connect to them. I have a: Gigabyte Aero 4080 RTX Ryzen 7 3700X GigaByte X570 AORUS PRO X570 Corsair HX850 G.Skill 32 GB DDR4-3200 SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus, 500 GB SSD Asus PCE-AC51 wifi PCIe Router: Asus RT-AC66U B1 AC1750 Dual-Band WLAN Router All with up-to-date drivers. The Wifi adapter is in the only other accessible PCIe slot, and I can connect to the wifi without any issues when I use usb-tethering with my phone. However, other devices on the same network do not experience any issues. Any suggestions or thoughts on how I can resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I have a HP 15s laptop with an intel i5- 10210U processor and has a Realtek b/g/n network card in it. Past couple of months I am facing network issues with my laptop. The wifi connection drops out of nowhere, I have tried many troubleshooting steps in windows, and with my router too. I have done a fresh windows install and even bought a new router. This issue occurs only with this device, all the other devices on my network works well. I am just not sure if I am missing any troubleshooting step. Please revert to this message if anyone could suggest any recommended troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

I finally got away from ADSL (20Mb/s~ Up, 3Mb/s~ Down) and I'm not on a symmetric 1gbps connection which is just pure bliss. Whilst my wired devices are happily chugging along at near gigabit speeds, devices connected via Wi-Fi are not. I have a Ubiquiti Dream Machine running UniFi OS UDM 2.4.27, previously I had smart queues enabled however since I've started using fiber, I've disabled that option. I'm unsure if there's anything else I need to change on my router, but I can't think of anything that should have such a drastic impact on the speeds. Options on my Dream Machine: Smart Queues - Off Firewall & Security Country Restriction - Off Threat Management - Off Wi-Fi Bands - 2.4 GHz & 5GHz Band Steering - On Wired: Wireless (using an iPhone 14 Pro Max stood around 2m away from the router):

It keeps dropping and increasing when i speedtest it. I recently installed a wifi adapter to my laptop to get 5Ghz.

Essentially, my 2013 iMac won’t connect to the wifi. It started randomly yesterday where the wifi suddenly disconnected (but would work on any other device, just not the mac) and when i tried turning on the wifi again it didn’t do anything. the wifi stayed off, and it doesn’t seem like it can turn on again

Manufacturers are making mainly usb 2 dongles to have compatibility with older systems and the transfer rate of usb 2 is still good enough for WiFi For years i had WiFi trouble till i realized that usb 2 devices need to go in usb 2 slots for optimum performance. I have always been putting it in the blue slots at the top for better reception.......... big mistake. Then i plugged it in a black usb slot and it works perfectly no drops, no disconnects in game, it is solid now. If you plug a usb 2 HDD in a 3.0 slot you will see that it drops in and out of optimum speed. usb 3 hardware can be put in a usb 2 slot no trouble.

So for a long time now, maybe 7-9ish years, the internet my mums paying for(LIKE 53£ BY THE WAY (tho it is fibre)) has been not good at all. The plan says it should be like at lowest 60mbps and should be around 70mbps normally. Problem is, its no where near. We get from around 2mbps-14mbps (14 is the highest ive EVER seen it go, average probably about 7-9) and wierd thing is when i do a speed test (Multiple types, ookla, ps5, google etc) they all say 70mbps yet thats not what were actually getting. I dont know what the problem could be and i hate my mum having to pay this much especially because we are not by any means getting what she pays for. If theres anyone that can help and get it working, ill be glad. I think the both of us will be considering i moan about it all the time. (I am kinda young, not an adult and im not paying for the internet (I am old enough to use youtube and stuff obviously) so i cant do too much but i can access the hub manager and all that, probably can do most things apart from change the plan) Thanks for reading. (NOTHING IS USING THE INTERNET WHILE IM DOWNLOADING THINGS BTW)

Hi, i'm new to this forum This is bugging me for years... when i tried to turn off the wifi, it automatically reconnects by itself. This never done before even enabling airplane mode, this also happens in Windows 11. I can't find answers anywhere which is useless/irrelevant, solution like this is not what i'm looking for https://www.lifewire.com/avoid-automatic-connection-to-wifi-networks-818312 is also useless I want to find the answers where when i click on Wi-Fi button, it should completely fucking turn off the Wi-Fi!!! Not auto reconnect by itself! If anyone know the answer i would very appreciate it. Windows 7/8 doesn't do shit like this

So basically I want good priced powerline ethernet kit that can do at least gigabit, as it would be far easier than routing Ethernet all over the house. I ask you because all the technical naming confuses me. In terms of exactly what I need, I need one plug to take signal from router into mains, 2 for Desktops and one more with 2 ports for a Nintendo switch and TV. Also it needs to be available in the UK. Thanks!

I’m at a loss, I have gigabit internet that works great on everything except my Desktop RYZEN 7 5800X3D ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO WI-FI MB Windows 11 When I run speed test it starts out fast 200Mbps for a Second then drops down to 20 the 15Mbps and finshes Finishes 15-18Mbps thats on Wi-Fi and with Ethernet (I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers with no luck) So I thought maybe it’s the internal Wi-Fi and Ethernet on MB so I installed a new Wi-Fi 6e adapter i disconnected internal Wi-Fi and installed new PCIe adapter and still same results. Not sure where to go from here I’m stumped

Hi All, Askig around as I need some help figurinng out and troubleshooting some weird wifi/internet drops I’ve been having lately. This happens specifically on my laptop whe I’m connected to a vpn (currently using surfshark) I’ll be all fine for around 10 mins and then everything just drops soon after using the internet. Mostly when watching youtube, but also when just browsing in general. Best case is it’ll reconnect in around few mins and the worse is it’ll drop my wifi all together, like actually disconnect, so when I disconnect from surfshark everything works normally. It seems to happen a lot more when I'm running on battery, and a lot less consistent when on a charger. This behaviour started a few days ago when we had a power outage, and back then once power was out I turned off my device and waited for power to come back on before rebooting anything. Weird thing is before this time everything worked fine. Because this sounds, and probably is, super niche situation I was wandering if there’s anyone on here that could help me out.

So I got my second work day and decided to set up the local network. I opened everything so each computer can see each other. There are 3 PCs, one of them is just shit and we'll throw it away and 2 main PCs. Tested connection, tried opening shared folders.... One pc (connected to router using ethernet cable) can see the 2nd pc, but not vice versa. 2nd pc tho connected to router using wifi. How do I make it mutually visible? Give me even stupidest suggestions, except for "did you open network visibility in network settings?" Of course I did. And yeah, it's win11.

Once upon a time… I had working wifi, not so much anymore. Quick background, then on to the problem. I actually live in a small log cabin near(ish) to the Canadian border. Which is relevant because that means I have a satellite connection to the internet. For several years that meant, the trickle supplied from HughesNet’s satellite. Then came Starlink to the rescue, and I love it. I get soooooo much more for less money. I got in on the beta and have been happy ever since, until my original dish (aka Dishy McFlatface) quit dishing, that is. One message sent to Starlink and a few hours later they said my dish was bad and they would sent me a refurbished model 2 dish as a replacement. It took awhile to arrive, but once it did, all was fine, except for my PC. Both Macs, all of the phones and tablets in the house and the Android TV all came back to life right away. Not so much for the PC. I’ve now made it worse by following YouTube “experts” (files were deleted that I wish had not been) and now I’m here with hat in hand… The wifi is not working. At this point, I’ve attempted to reinstall drivers but they do not show up. The device Manager does not list any WIFI devices, even after “Show hidden devices” and “Scan for hardware changes”. There is no WIFI under “Network Connections.” A ping to “ping 127.1.1.1” returns as excepted. I’m still new to PCs and am clearly in over my head. I tried a reinstall of Win 10 today (with the keep data and apps setting) but no joy. Looking for any help I can find. System info below. Thanks,

Hello all. My office has currently gone live with Yealink T54W VoIP phones in one location with a few more locations to follow in the coming weeks. All phones connected via Ethernet have no problems connecting and provisioning. I have one phone that does not have an Ethernet jack handy that I'd like to connect via Wi-Fi. I'm able to connect to the network fine but it's unable to obtain an IP address. I have tried setting the MAC address of the phone to a static IP on our Sonicwall to no avail. I have also enabled constant NAT through the Sonicwalls VoIP settings and disabled Enable SIP Transportation as suggested by some on the Sonicwall forums. We are using Ubiquiti APs throughout the office connected to a Netgear L2 (I believe but will confirm when back on site) 48 port switch. All network equipment is running it's most current official release firmware.

Hello, I've just set up my computer and installed windows, I'm using the <B650M Mortar WiFi> for my motherboard which has in built WiFi but i cant seem to find the WiFi settings anywhere on windows. I proceeded to then flashed/update my bios and updated the driver from https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B650M-MORTAR-WIFI/support#bios Downloaded an intel WiFi driver from https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19351/windows-10-and-windows-11-wi-fi-drivers-for-intel-wireless-adapters.html I checked if my WiFi module was enabled in the bios (it was) ALso in adapter settings i tried finding the WiFi to enable but it was nowhere to be seen D: But still I cannot seem to find the WiFi settings anywhere in windows. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
