Title says almost all, when I OC my GTX 970's core, it actually goes higher than I want, I think it is making my OC unnecessarily unstable because of that. DETAILS: I am using Gigabyte OC guru II for OC'ing. In the program I had set my core to +171Mhz, with that I was supposed to get EXACTLY 1500Mhz on the core. But I will actually get 2 different frequencies, depending on my voltage setting. 1. While only adjusting the offset MIN (raised by 0.0125V) on my core voltage I noticed that my monitoring program was reporting a speed of 1550MHz, 50Mhz more that intended. And so, while I was playing Warframe my game crashed, screen blinked black and I was returned to my desktop, unable to maximize the game window, I could still hear the games sounds, as if I was mousing over menu items. 2. While using Offset max (raised by 0.0625V) I noticed that my core was at 1575Mhz, even more this time... Bf4 crashed after ~40 minutes, the same way warframe did, after hastily relaunching the game to continue playing with my friend I noticed the the core stayed at 1385Mhz, after that I was able to play for 2 hours or so without crashing. Why is the core speed so unpredictable? I just want it to stay at the speed I tell it to stay at. Also I could appreciate some other advice on OC'in my card, I am sure I could have use for that too.

Hey all. I had a great (in my eyes) idea for the website. How about a classifieds forum? So we can sell our parts? I thought about this when I decided I want to sell my GTX 750 Ti (PM if interested), but there is no forum/thread for this. Let me know what y'all think.

whenever i tried to plug in my external hard drive to the front panel usb 3.0 of my Corsair 200R the other day I got a little pop-up in windows saying 'USB Device Not Recognised'. i unplugged it, tried it again and even tried something completely different (my webcam) and nothing worked; same result. i have googled for hours on end and have tried installing drivers, mucking about in device manager, unplugging the pc from the wall and leaving it for 10 minutes. nothing working. i thought it was because i had re-cable-managed my cables earlier and i had removed the usb 3.0 header from the motherboard and re-routed it. the head unplugged strangely, and i had to use a large amount of force to get it off. i opened up my pc and unplugged the header again and checked for bent pins. there seemed to be none. i noticed the port on the motherboard (the plastic bit) seemed a little wonky, so i forced it down, ensuring it was firmly on the mobo. then, i plugged the header back in again, further making sure that it was seated correctly and firmly. i went to install an extra HDD in my PC today and i checked the connector again. no bent pins and it seemed seated correctly. after that fiasco i re-booted up my pc and tried something different again; a usb card reader. the same thing happened again: 'USB Device Not Recognised'. the USB 3.0 on the back of pc (on the mobo) work perfectly fine, so im stumped. i was thinking it might've been faulty front panel connectors but i dont want to shell out money for new front panel connectors and go to the trouble of installing them in my case just to have it still not work. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks Mobo: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate Case: Corsair 200R here are some pictures of device manager and also the pop-up window I get when I plug anything in.

We all have those dont friends we ? i mean the ones that have money and consider themselfs so pro that dont listen to any logic whatsoever because they can spent money . I am telling you this because my friend wanted to upgrade its PC with a 3570k core and this is what he got with ~900 euros : Cosmos II , Asrock Z77 Extreme11 and a R9 290x While i made him a an upgrade with ~800 euros that had : ASUS Z97-C, I5 4690K , GTX 970 G1 and Entho Pro He did not even consider Entho Pro because it was much smaller and did not look as big as cosmos or intimidating which was an actual quote from him . Thus he went with the logic: more expensive = better (if you want i can make a packet tracer ) Even if he just bought phanteks and GTX 970 he would save 500 + euros which is just a huge amount that you can spent on any other components or cooling for your pc or even a good PC screen or an sli with 970 Do you have such expierience with your friends or generally other ppl ? Because i literally just can compute with such desicions and seeing get all that money wasted

Hello, I just installed ethernet in my house. Yet my ethernet is slowed down by people streaming on wifi. Why is this? Is there any fix for this or do I just have to live with this? Whenever I go to play League of Legends I get around 95 ping. But when someone streams on wifi I get around 1500 ping? Why is this when I'm using ethernet.

You all know how AMD is considered second and last in CPUs and second in GPU. Why, why is this. Yes I know because there CPUs and GPUs are more powerful blah blah blah. But why is amd considered u powerful compared to nVidia and Intel???????????

Is the gtx 970 fan thingy that "only turns on after 50/60 degrees celsius" an automated thing that can't be turned off, or can you turn off it via programs like Afterburner? And is there something more you can say about it or is it like an "open book". To make it or more clear and/or write it again; Can the thing that gtx 900 series have that only turn on the fan when it reaches a certain temperature be turned of or adjusted.

So I have built a new computer. The hardware are these: MSI X99S SLI PLUS 8GB DDR4 Crucial Ballistix Corsair RM850 Intel Core i7-5820K 2TB Seagate Desktop SSHD CoolerMaster V8 GTS CPU Fan TP-Link TL-WDN4800 WiFi Card Graphics Card: NVidia GT610 or NVidia 9600GT Yes, I know, my graphics cards are trash, I only use them for a short period though until I save for the GTX970 and more ram. I in the beginning used the GT610 and then I changed it as I though it maybe had a problem but changing to 9600GT doesn't help. I have Windows 10 Technical Preview installed and every time that I use the computer for installation of drivers, going to the Internet and more stuff that aren't at all too powerful, the PC suddenly or gets stuck and then restarts or restarts immediately in the middle of use. I have also made an X pattern with the thermal paste that I think was maybe a little too much, although the temperatures never pass 40 Degrees Celcius, it's mostly around the 30's and 20's. I don't know what to do and what could be the problem or hardware doing it.. Any help ?

i got a new processor, a xeon. Now when i boot up sometimes my pc shuts down after a few seconds and then boots normally. Then when i get into windows there is a white screen for around 20 seconds then everything loads in. Should i do a system restore? Are there drivers interfering or something? I want things to be smooth, not to feel like my pc is struggling to boot

Hey everyone. A weird problem has happened and I don't know how to fix it. I was using my computer and for some reason Windows explorer restarted, only the areo features did not. I originally thought it was something to do with Displayfusion, but everything was fine. I literately just restarted my computer and the issue is still present. I have tried changing themes from my Un-saved theme back to the original Windows theme (Blue windows logo) Still nothing. I finally resorted to going to Microsoft's website and downloaded a FixitForme for areo. This identified the issue as my gpu not supporting areo features. I'm sorry, what? A GTX 970 not supporting Areo, when I know it does as it has been before. Do you know the cause of the issue/solution? if so, any info would be great. Thanks. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming (No OC atm) 16GB 1866MHz Fury RAM

Hi! I have an original Note 10.1 with 3G, as well as a SIM card. It's what I'm writing this on right now. My issue with this is that in the afternoon, evening and at night, I often get H+ (a few mbit/s, the best of 3G), but otherwise, I can't find anywhere that's not E. This is really annoying. I was on Gotland recently and I always got H+. I'm on the Tele2/Comviq network. I know the problem isn't on my side, but I want to know what I can dp to improve my mobile data reception.

With the release of AMDs new cards and the expectation of more AND the glory of the Titan and 980ti which reigns upon the graphics world ... what do you think will happen to the prices? when do you think is the best time to buy computer parts? are you a person to wait and pull the trigger for pomo codes? or are you the silent killer that patiently waits for the holidays and then takes the expensive for the cheapest price? ...................... but no seriously, what days of the year do you think people have the best chance to get computer parts at their best price? you should answer like this: Country: Place/Website: When (Date/Holiday Name/etc.): Why: .................. so like >>> country: USA Place: retail websites when: cyber monday (nov. 31st?) why: many places offer free shipping and better prices after black friday

Hi guys I am looking for a good Logitech gaming mouse to go with the new Logitech Orion spark I am saving up for. I had a 500s but the wire broke on it somehow. I want another one but I'm not sure if I should get another because the last one broke. Although people say that it lasts forever and never fails unless you make the wrong move with it and blah blah blah. But anyways tell me what you guys think I really want to know. Also if Linus is reading this right now can you please make another video on the 500s as the one that is now posted doesn't really tell you much besides the specs. I saw you've done a G19s or whatever keyboard outside but brought it in to show how the program on the key binds work. If you could do something like that it would be awesome. Thanks linustechtips!

Hello, I am coming to you in need of some serious knowledgeable help. I am an amateur PC enthusiast and built my first PC about 3 years ago, and two months ago I upgraded the PSU, CPU, GPU, and motherboard... so pretty much everything. Anyways, for the first two months the new system ran amazing, never had a single issue with temps, crashing or freezing of any kind even under heavy gaming and multitasking. But for about 3 weeks now the PC crashes after cold booting for the first time of the day, after only running for about 10 minutes. It then refuses to boot at all, only making a ticking sound in the PSU when the power button is pressed(I've used 2 different power buttons, just in case..).. I just got the PSU back from Thermaltake as I sent it in once the problem became clearly a persistent thing.. Got it back today, wired everything up and discovered the problem is still occuring. The only way the PC will boot at all now is if I remove the CMOS battery, but it still does an auto restart every few minutes.. It does run long enough to look at Temps in HWmonitor, CPU in the low 40's, GPU about the same. Using ASUS's thermalradar no hot spots are visible on my board.. and all lights on the motherboard and GPU are good, no error lights or anything.. Sorry I realize how long that post is, hopefully it's clear enough. I really don't want to deal with sending all my components back one by one to be replaced, as I am a very busy college student. System specs Windows 8.1, 64 bit, all up to date Asus Z97 Sabertooth mark 1 Intel i7 4790K 4.0Ghz (Never been overclocked) 16 Gb Gskill ram at 1866 120Gb kingston SSD + 1TB seagate hdd Sapphire R9 270x 4Gb GPU PSU is a Thermaltake Grand 850M (like I said, they sent me a brand new one, with all the cables, etc..) ASUS PCI wifi adapter.. Blue ray drive I believe that's everything that is relevant..

So, I recently built my first computer, and it runs beautifully. Except for one problem. Whenever I attach the side panel on the case (The one with all my beautiful wiring), the entire computer shuts off. It runs perfectly without the side panel, however the second I attach it "BOOOOM!". Everything shuts off. I really don;t know why it does this, and any help here would be appreciated. I can take photos/videos of it happening if people want to see, etc. My build is as follows: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Fst7yc Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Fst7yc/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor (Purchased For $45.00) GPU: XFX Double D FX797ATDJC Radeon HD 7970 3GB (Purchased For $105.00)Motherboard: MSI Z87M GAMING Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (Purchased For $110.00) Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (Purchased For $50.00) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (Purchased For $85.00) Case: Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For $120.00) Power Supply: Corsair Professional Gold 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $75.00) Monitor: Asus PB278Q 27.0" Monitor (Purchased For $460.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-P14 FLX 65.0 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $10.00) Case Fan: Noctua NF-P14 FLX 65.0 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $10.00) Total: $1070.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-11-06 00:08 EST-0500
