Hello! I was wondering if it would be possible to record videos or stream on my pc, but using my phone as a webcam. i have an iphone 12, and it is a much better quality camera than my webcam, so can i use it in obs, and can i see a preview of the video on my computer screen? thanks

I've been trying to find a way to use my camera (LUMIX DC VARIO) as a webcam and i was thinking of using a capture card to pass the output of my camera to my pc with OBS, but i don't want to buy a capture card without knowing if the "solution" i thought about works or not. ive heard that this camer does have over heating problems if used as a webcam too? i'm not sure but let me know if that could work of not. thanks!

Hello!!! I am looking to getting into streaming, vlogging, and various content creation. What I am needing help on is deciding between the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Edition (or the Action 4 creator edition) vs GoPro Hero 12 Creator Edition. Main reason I went with these options is the ability to use it as not only a webcam but the ease of taking it on the go, along with the extras that come with the creator editions. Ideally I would want a camera for streaming and then one for just making videos but in the mean time i can do with having just one camera for both. I am open to other options as well so any advice or information is certainly welcomed as well! I'm looking for a webcam that is budget-conscious (for me that's under 40USD) and that has at least the following features: 1080p 30fps Autofocus Good microphone(s) Secure stand Privacy shutter USB-A Good image quality overall Not big in size Known brand FOV of 78 degrees OPTIONAL (but would be great if it had it): Windows Hello support 60fps Adjustable FOV if higher than 78 degrees Ring light Has anyone got recommendations?

Hey friends, I'm new here so please direct me to the right channels if this isn't it. I could use some help with my ACER NITRO AN517-55. Essentially, the title says it all. First, about my setup: ACER NITRO AN517-55 Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12500H 3.10 GHz GPU NVIDIA RTX3060 Installed RAM 32,0 GB (31,7 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Edition Windows 11 Home Single Language Version 22H2 Installed on 2023/06/15 OS build 22621.2070 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22659.1000.0 Everytime I connect an external video imaging device via USB to the laptop. ALL the audio I/O disappear from windows and Audio cuts out. Currently, this has only happened with the two cameras I own; the Logitech c920s the Microsoft Kinect V2 (the SDK for this is installed, I've had no trouble with it on the other laptops I've used it with.) This Audio I/O issue affects any and all connected audio devices wired or wireless. All onboard, Bluetooth audio, and external soundcards cease to function once the external camera is plugged in. The cameras themselves are unaffected as far as video is concerned, but their onboard microphones are also unusable. I've tried the following fixes: Downloading and reinstalling audio drivers from ACER Removing and Rescanning connected audio devices in device manager. Uninstalling all new programs installed since the issue was detected. Nothing has worked apart from unplugging the cameras. That being said; the Quick volume settings taskbar also bug out quite a bit even when none of the cameras are connected. audio sources appear and disappear from that part of the UI at their convenience. I usually have to open the sound system settings to switch between outputs even when they are functional and available. I'd meant to use this laptop for some Live AV/VJ work and audio prodduction. For reasons I cannot avoid, it had to be windows. Could use some advice on whether this is an ACER issue or something else as I need both Video In and Audio I/O for my AV work. I use windows almost exclusively with these same devices and haven't had an issue with my earlier Maingear Element or LENOVO laptops. Please let me know if other information I might provide could help. I came here because the LTT channels always seem to steer me right. P.S. Attached is a rough video from my phone shoeing the issue in real time. VN20230731_185117.mp4

Light, camera, action! But how to use the light? Hiya! I work from home full time, and unfortunately spend a lot of time in calls. While the vast majority of the people I have calls with won't expect or care for a "good quality image" - I do! I take pride in simple things like that, and have tried to have a good setup going on for a while now. I just can't seem to get the lighting tuned in right. It looks 'ok' these days, but the recent LTT video of youtuber pc setups made me question my lighting positions/usage (specifically when someone was called out for having a Key light aimed at the wall). I'm hoping that someone might have some good tips for me, as my google-fu has failed me so far. So this is what I'm working with in my office. - Small room / positioned myself in the corner. - Window just to the left of me and just above me. - Elgato lighting strip around desk (mostly for show :D) - Elgato keylight aimed at wall - Logitech C920 camera If I aim the elgato keylight at me I generally find it too bright to comfortably look at my screen/camera, even if the brightness is dropped down, perhaps it's just in the wrong place and should not be in front of me? I know the camera is pretty basic, but it is what I have. I certainly could upgrade if there is something out that that would be sure to fix it all. I'm not a streamer, just like nice things and do my job efficiently (hence the setup/tools). I keep the blinds closed when I am on camera as the non-natural lighting (fixed light form keylight) generally makes a big difference to not make me look like an alien. Picture for reference: Camera at the top of my monitor. Elgato Keylight in the middle at the back, aimed up (as I thought that worked best) Windows to the side and above me. Not relevant but in case people are wondering - I just got into VR with a Quest2 - so have that cable dangling there for the Link cable. I could have unhooked them to tidy them away - but did not. /shrug - Bed in my office? Madness! - Yes it is. Spare bed in case we have visitors, flipped it sideways (used ratchet straps on the mattress to prevent it from falling down) to a bit more space. Am going to build a fold-away bed on the wall there. - Waifu's!?. Yes. WFH perk, they keep my anger at bay and sanity at a reasonable level in my line of work. - 4 monitors? Yeah, I love it. have all 4 connected to work pc, can't imagine having less real estate space for everything. Only the 2 main (curved) monitors are connected to my home pc. 1 set of peripherals, go through a USB hub and USB switch. - That monitor arm there looks a bit tilted... Yes it does! Not a weight thing, a "DOH!!" thing. They are drilled into a frame I made, I derped and did not check if it was level before drilling it. Will fix that at some point, it just looks wrong (but is fine) - Nice chair! Thanks, getting a bit old unfortunately, it's wearing.

Hi I bought a logi c270 as a webcam today but I remembered I had an old camera collecting dust and thought about using it as a webcam. Its main purpose would just be for facecam if im streaming for friends or video chat so im not bothered about 4k 60 or anything like that. As far as I could tell i can record (maybe only for pictures) up to 1080p not sure what framerate but im guessing it would be 30 as its a pretty old camera. I found these online from what i researched and would order them if they are good or if anyone here can let me know if its the wrong items. hdmi to USB https://www.amazon.com/Capture-Streaming-Broadcasting-Conference-Teaching/dp/B09FLN63B3/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=usb+video+capture+card&qid=1683759763&sprefix=usb+video+%2Caps%2C95&sr=8-5 Mini hdmi to HDMI https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-Mini-HDMI-Adapter-Cable/dp/B014I8UEGY/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=mini+hdmi+to+hdmi&qid=1683759723&sprefix=mini+hdmi+%2Caps%2C94&sr=8-5 I would also get this stand as i just need it to hold up the camera and maybe tilt and nothing fancy it was the cheapest i saw https://www.amazon.com/Ballhead-Adjustable-Removable-Streaming-Recording/dp/B09YTM6L4R/ref=sr_1_17_sspa?keywords=camera%2Bstand%2Bfor%2Bdesk&qid=1683759503&sr=8-17-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFNSzIySkU2RkwwRlMmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAyODcyODE4UEhDOU5QTlpNOE4mZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMTAwMDYyODNMSDhOSE1FR0FZM0Mmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl&th=1 thanks for help and any info edit: I just realized i could possibly go Mini HDMI to usb directly? would that work?

Hello everyone. I'm working on a machine vision project, and I need a 1080p at 90 fps webcam/camera that can be turned into a webcam. Does such a thing even exist? I've been searching the web for hours, and no such luck. Anything under $250 usd is fine with me, as is used. Also, any super jank pcb/dev board is cool too. As is crappy video quality, as long as lag is low. (Machine vision doesn't really care) Any help would be much appreciated! Thank You all! P.S., as this is a webcam issue, I put it under this forum instead of under Videography. My bad if that's wrong.

Hi all, I have a work laptop a HP Probook 430 G8 and a J5 Create 4k Webcam (Link below) When I plug the webcam in and use it on the camera app it works no issues as soon as I try and use it via Teams/Chrome or WhatsApp it doesn't work. I have spoke with IT who say nothing is wrong with the laptop but had a reply of "Conclusion after testing" that "I believe it is caused by the standard of USB port & available voltage." Is there any work around for this? I love the webcam vs built in as I do demos for clients and 4k camera is a dream to use! The webcam has USB and a little USB C adapter laptop has both tried both. Webcam works on my personal PC too. Just a note, when I start a call the camera shows up within the apps but so is behind fed the feed but then freezes. I thought of a voltage booster but then I'd run in to issues with the actual data being passed through? Webcam: https://en.j5create.com/collections/webcams/products/jvcu435

Logitech HD Webcam C270 LOGITECH's own website seems to be no help at all. They seem to only offer firmware and software for cameras bought recently. I've tried the Logitech HD Webcam C270 in VLC as a capture device and no image appears. Can someone tell me of other software that I can try to see if this Logitech HD Webcam C270 works? Or some troubleshooting, or just a clue? Thanks yaw

I just got this webcam a while back, but I was pleasantly surprised. THE PROS Camera quality is ok, but microphone quality is excellent. Compared to using a sound-bar as my microphone, this is a big step up. I haven’t downloaded the software for it yet, (if there is one) so there aren’t many features about it. I really can’t complain that much about this since I got it at a deal on Best Buy’s website at $39.99. THE CONS There are a few things that are kind of annoying. The camera gets pretty overexposed a lot, and its only 30FPS at 1080p. Frame-rate looks low on Google Meet, but on OBS with some enhancements, it looks better. Then again, I can’t complain because $40 for a webcam is cheap. CONCLUSION Overall, the webcam is not bad. If you need a “cheaper” webcam, I would probably recommend this for certain scenarios. Logitech C615 Webcam Rating: 7.8/10. Not bad, but could be better.

I am trying to use an iPhone 5s as a webcam for AprilTag - basically xbox kinnect using normal webcams and some printed tracking logos. I tried EpocCam, the version I can download on my phone is too old to be recognized by the versions of EpocCam I can download for my pc. I tried Camo, that has to be passed through to OBS, obs creates a virtual camera and I use that as the camera. That is not working because I can't get AprilTag to recognize the virtual camera, none of the input sources I tried worked. If you know of another way to run an iPhone 5s as a webcam or how to get AprilTag to detect my virtual camera please let me know, thank you!

I and most of the employees of the company I work for moved from our country after February 24th. One of my colleagues used to work exclusively on a desktop PC, so since we were all in a hurry to leave the country, she grabbed any laptop she saw in a nearby store so that she had something to work with. When the dust settled a little, we started working remotely, because the office (and helpdesk) where not here. And during our meetings, my colleague discovered that the webcam in her laptop was not working at all, so for 2.5 months after that she used her phone for video calls. It's annoying because she can't share her laptop screen. I happened to be in her city today and I am trying to solve this problem. Laptop in question is Asus K513E OLED. In the screenshot below, you can see Device Manager showing this camera, it reads "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". I uninstalled the webcam drivers and reinstall them from the official Asus support page for this laptop - didn't work. Then I did the same for the chipset driver (I assumed the main USB controller might be on the same die) - same result. I then "updated" the driver for the USB hub device (USB 3.0): "Update Drivers" -> "Search My Computer for Drivers" -> "Let me manually select from a list" -> I chose one option which was available and installed it. After that, for a short time (2-4 minutes), the “Unknown USB device” turned into a “usb2.0 hd uvc webcam”, was detected by zoom, and there was video feed coming from it. Then, after couple of minutes, everything reverted back to where I started. Google doesn't show anything related to this issue and this laptop. Colleague says that neither she nor anyone else has opened this laptop and the camera seems to work fine when properly detected so I don't think it's a cable issue (but I have a screwdriver so opening is possible ). So, is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem and solved it successfully?

Hi. I have a aukey pc lm1e wecam and I bought it around 3 months ago. I normally used streamlabs to fix colors or to make it look less plain. But not iv'e run into a totally different issue. A few days ago I tried having a video call on discord with a close friend but my camera would'nt show up and the only thhing i could see was "Streamlabs virtual webcam" and my old old microsoft webcam that wasn't even plugged in or close to my computer. So i tried everything. google the issue, reinstalling the drivers, checking the usb connection etc. But nothing worked, then when i checked hidden devices I saw the name of the camera as an audio source and I tried using the mic and sure enough it works fine. I then tried to plug it into my laptop and the webcam works without issue there. Running win 11 insider preview rtx 3060ti ryzen 7 5700g mb- B550-A PRO

Hey folks! Looking to upgrade my old Logitech C270 webcam as I need to record some training stuff and want to PnP myself in there too, as it seems to be the thing to do these days. What would be a good choice for this? Not looking to spend a fortune. Would the Logitech C922's camera +mike be sufficient or keep the C270 & get a Yeti Nano or Snowball? Ditch the C270 and get an HD Camera like the C922 + external mike? On the software side I could use OBS, content is in PowerPoint, Was going to do audio only and use a headset for audio, but might as well put my mug there. What I like about recording within PowerPoint is you can do slide-by-slide audio and if you need to re-do a slide, you don't need to re-do the whole thing. Anything similar out there other than Camtasia? Yes am new at this from a more "professional" perspective and will welcome your wisdom - many thanks!!

Hello all! Does anyone have a personal recommendation for a Windows Hello webcam? The camera performance doesn't need to be stellar, but I don't want a potato either. I do take on camera meetings regularly. I've gone through the quite a few top 10 list of Windows Hello Cams, but would like to hear from folks out there that have some legitimate experience for and against. Thank you!

In the latest video about upgrading your streaming setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HwGt9bcKZk&t=454s Linus mentions that you cannot use a canon rebel as a webcam because the hdmi port does not provide clean output. This is true, however; Canon somewhat recently introduced the EOS Webcam Utility: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/self-help-center/eos-webcam-utility/ which allows you to use rebels and many other canon cameras as a webcam via USB. Thank you for coming to my ted talk
