I've nearly bought all the components for my new build, however I'm stuck with the PSU. What would be best out of these two? Corsair TX550m, new from amazon so would have warranty. £64.99 Corsair TX650m, still sealed from ebay but might not be covered by warranty as it's not an official retailer. £57.99 Cheers

I have an MSI RX 480 (30 months old) that I was using as an eGPU for a while (it's not really used for gaming funnily enough, it's mainly just used to get 4 digital display outs (the laptop can only do 2 digital/1 analog.)) Yesterday I was sitting there watching YouTube when the PSU powering the card just shut off and after a bunch of testing the card has a short somewhere (0 resistance between 12V and ground on the PCIe power connector) and will shut off any PSU it's connected to, I tried cleaning out the card but it made no difference so I contacted MSI (because they have a 36 month warranty of GPUs) but I'm curious if they will still honor it with the void sticker damaged. (I know they aren't legal in the US anyway so I'll probably just bug them if they say they can't honor it because of the sticker, but they technically only have to offer a 1 year warranty in the US anyway so they could just say that.

Hi Do i void my warranty, if i open my GPU to change the Thermopaste? What about replacing the cooler with an aio watercooler? It is an RX580 from Powercolor (RedDragon V2) and the cooling is just crap. I live in germany, and cant find a way to contact Powercolor and ask them. If u know their Phonenumber, i would call them

Sorry for the CAPS Anyway, I have a Seagate 1TB SSHD in my laptop as secondary drive, it had been quite old and I noticed crystal disk mark reported it had read error, so time for a replacement. The seconday drive contains system page file, user files, softwares (PS, CAD, matlab), games and tons of junk some family photos movies and *advertiser unfriendly content*. And it will continue being so after the upgrade. ( My primary is a 500GB Samsung 850) Now I am quite unsure which one should I get a new Firecuda or a Barracuda. Each have their pros and cons. Firecuda: Pros: Maybe faster software loading and file opening times, if I am on a project or playing a certain game very often. 5 year warranty (maybe better binned parts? The 5400RPM may also be the reason it have a longer warrenty) Cons: Almost twice as expensive at where I am (492 vs 879). Barracuda: Pros: CHEAP Cons: 2 year warrenty... and portentially dragging down the Samsung... and 7200RPM may cutting short the life expectancy.

I bought a used Thinkpad from a second-hand laptop store, the warranty seal was removed as they opened its bottom cover to upgrade storage (replace a slow HDD with fast SSD), therefore the components are no longer original from factory. So I wonder if my laptop has voided warranty? If the warranty is still valid, is there a way to change the Depot service location from United States of America to another country? (not really upgrade it to International service but just from US to another country)Thank you

Is GPU Box is required for claiming warranty of MSI GPU ?

Hey guys, Idk if this is the right section to ask this but does overclocking my Vengeance LPX Module with lifetime warranty (limited to 10yrs btw by German law, which sucks) void the warranty? I'd just like to overclock it lightly, from the 2666Mhz stock to like 2933 or whatever

Hewwo! I'd recently come down with an issue on my Razer NZXT H440, where the power button stopped working. I'd lost all hope, as my warranty had run out. Now, there is no real fix for this, but NZXT, if contacted, will supply a free power button for you, if you are having this issue. I hope this helps

This is mixed bag WITHOUT a solution so far. My Storm Stryker (White) has had 2 of the 5 fans fail since I bought it in January 2018. I reached out on their support site and that went nowhere. I ended up contacting them via twitter and they informed me that the ticket fell through the gaps. (I can honestly see how that happened). The solution the provided involves a system to request new parts that ARE under warranty; the kicker is that that system has been down for months and they also don't carry the parts anymore. I love coolermaster products, but this is quickly changing. /old man rant

I'd like your opinions on this matter. It's unusual that I do this kind of thing but i've had such a bad experience so far that I have to post it. It all started on april 4th, 2018. I work as a tech repair shop and one of our good customers comes in with his gaming rig saying it's not turning on anymore. After a quick diagnostic we figure out that the problem is the GPU. His GPU was an Asus Strix-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD5 and it's still under warranty. So I organise the RMA and all that no problem there. after 2 weeks we get a different card with a different serial number (same model still), so everything is fine so far we put it back in the computer, boot it up, install the lastest driver and we then launch aida64 and Furmark to test the computer. We give the computer back to the customer. Back in august, the customer comes back with yet again the same problem. At this point I start finding this weird so I ask him questions on what he does with the machine and he tells me he just games with games from steam and a few other things. Nothing out the ordinary. So I set out to do another RMA and all goes well. It takes time but whatever. Back on my end I test the computer again and we decide to change the power supply for a new one just in case. we verify BIOS updates, drivers the lot. skip ahead to a month ago. Same customer, Same problem, same Graphics card model. Now I argue on the phone with Asus and I wait on hold for quite some time but I arrange to get a different card because its the third GTX 980 that's defective after a few months. I send the card and we wait. Going forward to yesterday. I receive the new card. A STRIX GTX 1070 8GB! WOW that's great! Install it in the computer, download latest driver and install. I adjust the resolution and reboot only to find myself back at 1024x768. I take a look in device manager and the card is detected as a generic card. I reinstall the driver again, reboot only to come back to device manager with the card detected with the right name but with a yellow warning and under properties it says: "Windows has stopped this peripheral as it is causing problems (code 43)". I Take the card out, install it in another good computer, same result. I am furious at ASUS and their service. I fought again for over an hour just to speak to a manager who said they have to wait 48 hours for an approval from corporate to choose if I can get a brand new card or will I get shipped another goddamn used/ refurbished card.

Hi ! Long story short, I unintentionally broke my chg90. I brought it to the store, where they took it for a few weeks to evaluate the damages. When I got it back, they said they didn’t repair it because it was not covered by the extended warranty. Ah well. When I took it home and plugged it in, I saw that they worsened the damages by far. The crack is now two times bigger, and pixel lines are appearing on the sides. I have a photo of before and after. Has anyone been in similar situation?

my laptop (Asus ROG Strix G GL531GU) won't boot now, it was on lock screen it freezed, showed me the error " your PC ran into a problem and we will restart it for you " and then it showed the ROG logo but never restarted, the keyboard started flashing red light and that's it, no other response. I tried to hard restart it (pressing the power button for 30 secs) but it didn't work. My laptop is under warranty so the first thing i did was visit the service center, submitted my laptop. I got a call from them on the next day saying that your laptop has corroded from inside, it is water damaged and its not covered under warranty. I know for sure that there was no water damage to the laptop at all. I remember my laptop heat sink turned black, they were all copper and shiny when the laptop was new but overtime in 8 months it turned black and that what the service center guy is calling corrosion. I looked up on the internet and found that it must be some bios issue (bcz of keyboard flashing) how should i make them understand this? they are just trying to blame me for water damage rather than accepting the issue. According to me there is no way that laptop shows " PC ran into a problem error " if its water damage or corrosion issue. And i suppose heat sink turning black is pretty common. Link to ROG forum whih the heatsink turned black thread " https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?55875-Copper-Heat-sink-Turns-Black!!!-G751 "

So I have a Cooler Master MWE Gold 650 Watt Fully Modular, Compact, Silent Fan 80 PLUS Gold, bought it last year around now. One day the computer shut down abruptly and didnt post, i would turn on the system, fan would whir, mobo would light up and then it went dead. Cleared CMOS, nothing, did everything except test a new PSU. Was going to test with an older PSU, but first i decided to jump the Cooler Master PSU with a paper clip. That worked and it lit up a case fan i used to test. Out of curiosity I plugged my PSU to the Mobo and it POSTed. So I am thinking if the PSU needs to be RMA'd and If i RMA it, would using the paper clip jumpstart method void the warranty?

Some background, I've had my laptop, an MSI GS43VR for a period of almost 2 years. During this period of time, this is the second time I am having to apply for repairs. The first time, the laptop spontaneously caught on fire (yes, really. And it was in the middle of the Galaxy Note battery craze too). I sent it back to MSI and it turned out to be a loose connection from the main body to the camera module which had caused that. After replacing the parts, and a period of 1 month, I got my laptop back. In the meantime I have moved from London to Dhaka, Bangladesh This time around, my laptop is bulging (most likely due to a battery issue), and I sent a web ticket for MSI support. At first, they didn't really reply other than ask me to apply for an RMA. However, that is not supported in my region. After 2 separate web tickets (because the previous ones had expired after no reply in 3 days), I received the number of their service centre in Dhaka. I promptly took the laptop there where I was told that MSI had already spoken to the service centre about my laptop coming in and to test the laptop and order parts accordingly. The service centre took in my laptop and tried to communicate with MSI. After a week with no reply, the service centre asked me to submit a web ticket to MSI to get a response from them. I do so, and MSI responded to the service centre, telling them of some region issue which is why they won't fix my laptop. What should I do in this situation? The service centre and I were told that my laptop will be repaired but now MSI seem to have gone back on what they had previously said. What should be the best course of action in this situation for me? tl;dr: Laptop needs repairs. Contacted MSI. They sent me to local repair centre. Local repair centre were told that my laptop will be fixed. MSI ghost them for a week until I send MSI a web ticket. MSI say no repairs because of region difference. Need advice on what to do next

ok, so I bought an Asus laptop like an year ago (it had 2 years warranty) and it has a 1 year of warranty left, however, I want to upgrade it with an SSD. Since I dont live in the US getting it fixed by someone else void my warranty. And there's no Asus service centre in my city. I contact them they go like.... you can go to the city where our service center is located which is literally on the other side of the country. So what should I do?

Hello, I own a msi gtx1060 3gb Aero itx. Last week i was at the local fleemarket and picked up an arctic accelero twin turbo 2. (10 €) Would it void my warranty if i mount this cooler on the card? The Gpu was bought in September 2017. Also would the msi zero frozr feature work with this cooler? thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to overclock an i5-8600k and the ML240R from CoolerMaster looks like a good deal but I always hear stories about AIOs leaking into the system. Does anyone have first experience with this AIO or dealing with CoolerMaster's warranty system? Would they be as good as say, any NZXT Kraken Model, in terms of reliability at least? I am aiming for nice looking build and a clunky looking air cooler would pretty much ruin that and my chances of OCing. Custom loop is out of the question for me as I have no experience in this field and I know they require maintenance on a regular basis which can be tricky work. Cheers.

So, a little white back, LTT Posted a video containing a Korean monitor, As soon as I saw it, I thought it was one hell of a deal, and I bought one for myself. About two weeks ago, I noticed that the monitor has began to flicker, about once every 6 seconds, I thought it was a software thing, so I opened task manager and never saw it flicker. I updated my drivers to see if that would help (it didn't). I thought it was about time anyways, so I reset my windows. It still flickered. I updated drivers, tried different ports, cables, monitors (that didn't flicker), and came to the conclusion that the monitor is dying. Is that just? If so, it should still be covered by the manufacturer warranty? Is there anything else I should try, if not, is someone able to help me navigate http://www.crosslcd.co.kr/ their official site to get a replacement/get my monitor fixed?

Hello, I can’t chose between Razer blade 15 and Dell XPS 15 (9570). I am architecture student and use Revit, Photoshop, illustrator and 3Dmax daily. So GPU power is important. I would go with Razer blade but the big problem is that in 11 months I will leave USA and go back to Europe so after those 11 months if something happens to razer I am in trouble cause razer don’t have international warranty. The other choice is Dell XPS 15 9570 which have much weaker GPU but if I take premium support I will have international warranty and safety net if something happens after I leave USA. My question probably is which one to chose the one with much greater power but higher risk or safer but weaker option? And maybe some body use razer blade, how often do they break after first year use? P.s. I have heard that if laptop is fine after first few months then it should work good in long term. (No clue if it is true)

I originally got the Asus 1080Ti ROG Strix this past December and it worked fantastic until the end of April when the card gave out and failed. I then sent the card back in under manufacturers warranty and they sent back a refurbished card back. After I received this card it worked for a month and then failed again. So once again I sent the card back to Asus for repair but I was then notified of a $600 fee for fixing the card. This was because the card was "out of warranty" because the serial number sticker was removed (pictured below). The problem was I was never the one to take the sticker off. After disputing the claim online I never received any information back so I spend the last few weeks disputing over the phone about the issue and I was told there is nothing more they can do. They claim to have pictures of the card before they sent the refurbished card to me and it did have the sticker on it, but I obviously know I did not take it off and I had a picture of the removed sticker before I sent it back in for the second repair (the same image below). So after Asus said they can't do anything further with the card unless I pay $600, I need to know what other options I have or if there are laws in place to protect the consumer in this manner. I have been trying to researching some of the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, but I cannot seem to grasp the act in its entirety. If anyone with legal knowledge or with any advice could help me work through this issue, then this nightmare might finally be over.

Hi guys, This is a touch one- Bought a new laptop - model no hp x360 14 cd0087tu has an 8th gen i5, 128gb ssd but no graphics card , so integrated graphics only yesterday, i played csgo for the first time in 3 months on this laptop and ofcourse it got heated but not by much. I'd say it handled the game well and I'd consider it a 30-40 min casual gameplay. The backstory- I was high, it was late at night and we used the hp touch pen for acout 10 minutes for fun and sketches and then played cs. Now, after that, I was listening to some songs on youtube on high volume( dont know if it matters ) and put my head in a 'head down' position for about 20 seconds maybe . Next thing i know, when i put my head up, i had these weird lines on my laptop in the bottom portion. These were vertical lines. the touch is working on that area although but it is a bit grayish and it seems that the quality of the screen display output in that portion is of lower resolution. I have attached snapshots. Please do see them. I did not break the laptop, touch the laptop, it didnt fell down, nothing hit it. IDK what happened. but it happened. I am in urgent need of help as I am a student and cannot wait for HP care to sort this thing out which will definitely take weeks. If my screen is lost then the only choice is HP, until then im open to suggestions. I'm thinking this is due to overheating or some battery issue ? IDK !! Thanks in Advance

surface Surface Book warranty nightmare
Harrison Herring posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
so, after having a thermal issue with my 2017 surface book 1 with dgpu, i got online with ms chat support, only to have them tell me that apparently my device is a demo device not meant for resale! so i'm stuck with a non-functioning device, and £2,000 down the drain!
