Budget: 10 000.00$ CAD (~8 063$ USD) Country: Canada Use case: My current situation: See the gif below, I'm using the OVR toolkit to spawn screens while I play VR. This allows me to chose for any environment AND many more displays! Downside tho is that I'm running on 60fps in VR (optimal would be 90fps) on my rtx 2070S. Aka playing any flatscreen game and be in VR is too much of a load to be enjoyable. So unexperienced in PC building me thought that maybe I can have one graphic card do PC games and the other do VR rendering. The GPU problem: I don't know if 2 different graphic cards (in this case a 3090 for pc games and 2070S for VR rendering) are able to work like that. I chose this motherboard Asus ROG VIII dark hero for the double PCI x16 CPU slots but it also says it works as x8x8 if CLI. My question is, can I use different cards without CLI to get this to work? Can we have games chose what graphic card to run on? The CPU problem: I got 64gb or ram in prevision that I'll be working (running virtual machines and coding as well as playing) and playing VR at the same time, same reason to have 2 GPUs. But for the CPU, I don't know if for this dual tasking I'll need moar cores or more speed. Should I go with a threadripper or stay with this Ryzen 9 5950X? Other details: Yes I have noticed the issue with the Trident memory issue with this CPU. Also I didn't count the 2070S in the price since I already have one I'll yoink from the PC I'm writing this from. Also yeh the picture is modified since PC part picker wouldn't let me chose 2 different graphic cards for this case scenario. Pls halp!!

So apparently I tried to be too clever by half. Because the new airlink connection for Quest 2 doesn't officially support mesh networks I tried to connect my Quest 2 to my computer directly using a Tp-link AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 PCIe adapter. Honestly it was buggy as hell. I had better luck still going through the mesh network but using the wi-fi connection to the network in addition to the wired connection (the wired connection is going through a MoCa adapter because of the distance). This still results in sporadic glitches in the connection which I believe is due to the mesh network. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to setup a direct wireless connection, preferably where I can still get internet access to the Quest 2?

O.K., I'm trying to do some, let's just say intense VR gaming, and apparently adding 2 or 3 3090's is a terrible idea. (See, "Is 3 GPU's a good idea?) How do I get more power than a 3090, assuming all my software is working great, and I, don't know, hired Ubisoft's best optimizers for my Beat Sabre. Strctly hardware improvements.

Hello everyone, I was hoping for some guidance on VR headsets. I've saved up a good amount of "fun money" over the last 2 years which I would like to spend on a VR setup, so price is less of a problem for me, as long as its not outrageous compared to competitors (I'm looking at you Pimax). I already have a computer which should be more than capable of running any current gen headset from what I can tell (2080 Super + 3900X) so I can afford to splurge on the headset and peripherals. With that said, I want the best experience using the headset I can get from currently available products. I don't necessarily want the fanciest headset, I want the headset that I can use as a daily driver, if I could realistically use it as a 'virtual office' space for 5+ hours a day that would be ideal, I also place a high value on the 'It just works' aspect even if that means less frills. I was hoping you fine folks could help me figure out which headset that might be as I'm having some difficulty understanding the product stacks of some manufacturers, and how important of a human factor some of the specs are as I've really only been able to test drive the earlier headsets from library/school rentals etc. Currently, I am leaning towards one of either the Valve Index, or one of HTC's headsets, though I'm open to others. This is because I think the Index or the Vives fit that 'it just works' model I'm after. I don't however understand a) HTC's product stack; I don't know which headsets are aimed at consumers and which ones are aimed at developers or some specific niche use. I don't mind paying the high price tags of any of HTCs headsets, but I don't really understand what tradeoff I'm making if I choose a Cosmos, Pro, or Focus model. Are the "Pro" headsets strict upgrades to the cosmos? is the focus model just a gimmicky eye tracking thing I'll never care about? b) How much weight should I place on frame rate and resolution? My intuition is that I should probably value fps over most everything (and thus choose an Index), but If someone has any experience with both a Cosmos and an Index and could give me a quick comparison of the eye-comfort from the resolution/fps tradeoff I would greatly appreciate it. c) It's my understanding that the FOV of essentially every headset is problematic. With that in mind, should I prioritize it as much as FPS? d) what is the optimal number of base stations? 4? e) Cable management; what is the best method, and where do I find quality products for the purpose like extra long replacement headset cables or overhead cable rigs? f) different controller schemes. I'm guessing some of this is personal preference, but are there controllers, or other peripherals, which are highly recommended? Relatedly, I have audiophile grade headphones, will I be able to use them with VR headsets? Are the built in speakers any good at all? Finally, I'm in the fortunate circumstance of also buying a home. So, I would like to know anyone's recommendation for room design/size that has worked well for them. Thanks everyone.

I still feel a little at lost with all the small details that may need to be taken into consideration. The build is intended to be somewhat high end, no water cooling or overclocking in mind (except for RAM that should be >3000) but I don't really want to waste money on components that can be replaced with cheaper components that are of similar quality. So basically, this post is more a sanity check to see the build makes sense, and perhaps get suggestions for changes/improvements. Re the RTX 3080 in the spec, this is more wishful thinking at the moment. I may end up buying one at ridiculous prices Thanks in advance to any kind soul that will take the time to provide me with some insights :)

I've been watching oculus's website for weeks trying to get a replacement Optical Cable for my Rift-S. It has not come back in stock for well over a month, that I have noticed. The amazon link just recently had some in stock but they cost nearly as much as a whole new VR headset. Anyone have news on how long this scalping crud is going to last? Or any alternate way to use an Oculus Rift-S without the oculus brand cable?

Was watching this video and was surprised when Linus said sarcastically > HDMI for the VR revolution that is definitely coming I recently had a blast completing Half-life Alyx on the Quest 2 playing it wirelessly from start to finish. The headset came out in october and already has 40 225 reviews on amazon. With an avg. rating of 4.8 i'm obviously not the only person loving it. LTT probably will never see this, but i would love seeing a new look at Wireless PCVR. Especially since Oculus just released Air Link making it easier than ever to set up. Hey all, I've got a bit of a strange one, after around 30 mins of streaming VR games, I start to experience micro stutters in both my Valve Index and on the desktop display output - it is more prominent when I move around a lot, but can happen when I'm stood still. The graph below was a stress-test straight after a VR stream, CPU sits between 66c to 70c and the GPU sits at around 55c so I can't see it being a thermal issue. Here are my specs Aorus X570 Mini ITX wifi Ryzen 7 3700x @ 4.4ghz 1.35v (Vetroo V5 CPU Cooler) Aorus RX 5700XT 16GB Corsair Vengence RGB RAM 3200 (Two sticks) Corsair TX-M 650 Watt WD BLACK SN750 500GB NVME SSD Samsung 860 QVO 1 TB SATA Valve Index (I set this to 80hz when streaming) F33c BIOS version 21.7.2 AMD GPU driver version I'm using Streamlabs OBS, set to 936p, 48fps, x264 encoder on fast, 6200kbs bitrate and I have an upload of 30mb/s (It looks stunning with these settings, a really clear and smooth stream, up until micro stutter land!) I'm leaning towards my PSU not being able to pump enough consistent power over a long period of time, or the VRMS are getting toasty! Streaming VR has my CPU pegged to around 80% and my GPU sits at 99% before it starts dipping a lot (I only ever seem to use around 13 to 14GB or RAM, you can see on the included image, that the power consumption dips with the clock speed. What do you lovely people reckon before I go with my gut and purchase a new PSU? START OF STREAM - Here is a Twitch clip at the start of a stream, nice and smooth. Hello I’ve been having trouble lately with vrchat and it’s been getting aggravating because I can’t get over 30 FPS and I get a lot of screen tearing and it’s basically unplayable my setup is I’m running a intel i5 9600k processor 16gb of vengeance ram GTX 1660 super graphics card 2TB of storage and my vr setup is a oculus rift S I’ve been told by shouldn’t have any problem running but I do have a problem running it on low even and it’s also kinda hard to also run Pavlov vr too can someone help please thank you

Budget (including currency): N/A Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: VR Hi Guys so i am planning a PC build in one of the squares of our IKEA Kallax Bookcase using the Door Insert thing they have So i have an acrylic "test bench" to mount the motherboard on. The plan is to have the IO cut out at the back to easily plug everything in there and keep the front clean with the door hiding everything. Also getting a wifi enabled power button so can either turn on from the button on the MB or the Remote. For cooling I was thinking airflow to make mounting fans on the back easy as i dont think the flimsy wood stuff is strong enough to hold a radiator for a long period of time. As such CPU cooler standard Noctua NH-D15 and then to enable airflow I am not sure about the flow setup. With the door there are about half a centimetre of gap around the door. I am getting 2 of these fan grilles to mount the noctua NF-S12A fans to AC Infinity Ventilation Grille, for PC Computer AV Electronic Cabinets, also mounts two 120mm Fans : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories However how should i set them up? Both sets of fans setup to pull air into the enclosure from the back, Both to pull air out of the cabinet or setting them up to be opposite?

Hi all, I'm interested in buying a VR headset and I was wondering what kind of hurdles might occur when getting a VR headset and what things I need to take into account when deciding what VR headset is best for me. I also wear glasses so idk if that is crucial to take into account.

I went with the wife and kids to play at an arcade, we played 4 man VR. It costed $5 per person per turn, so we spent $20, and gave it a try. The wife (who gets vertigo easily), enjoyed it very much. Hearing this made me brainstorm, resulting in the question of; How much would I have to spend, to have the same experience of all 4 of us playing the same game at the same time. I also may need to consider how much space to make available for this project. So far, I have the idea of possibly buying a prebuilt or two, or four. But the specifics are over my head. Also, is there anything else I need to consider?

what is a good around us$100 for basic vr (rec room quest crescendo, Minecraft, roblox vr, you get the idea) in the current gpu market that will be able to hold its ground enough for the chip shortage to end so then a upgrade can happen then. it would also be nice for it so be able to run some games at 60 fps like borderlands 3 and others even if at very low settings. I have a quest 2 but it does not have all of the features that I need just by its self (does not have the things that I listed) as long as I get about 60 fps in vr I am normally good and I don't care if I need to edit resolution settings

Hi LTT Friends, Long story short I had to RMA my dead Vega64 Post here: My question with this. They offered to help me by offering a GTX 1660 Super + a bit of extra pay from my side. They also offered a RTX3060, but dear lawdy its going for 15000 ZAR which would basically be the price of my whole Ryzen 5 System I recently bought xD... so no. I wanna know if anyone knows if the 1660 Super will work well enough for Streaming to Twitch with OBS and Playing Beat Saber and other VR games. Otherwise I mostly do 1080P gaming so fine otherwise. I use my PC every day for things like PCVR and I'm trying to improve the cooling of my hardware so it doesn't damage my components long term. I'm thinking about getting a (closed) water cooling loop for my CPU instead of a fan. My specs are: - Ryzen 7 3700x - RTX 2070 super (got it a year before 30 launch) - MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC - Corsair Vengeance LPX 2*8GB - Corsair RM750x (2018) - VR (headset): Valve Index w/ 3*Trackers and Tactsuit x40 In a NZXT S340 Black/Red case. Can someone recommend me a cooling solution (and explain why they recommend it)? Budget is not really an issue although I prefer to spend something in the range of 50-130 (for cooling which will run for a solid 5 years).

Problems: I keep seeing cool things online like” yeh enable 90hz on quest with no cable for all games!” and im like; I cant get it to work at all on my quest 2 unless its through a usb-C to C lightning thingy and even then thats only on my busted laptop that is the only pc with a port like that. Hi, I'm (potencially) on market for a new PC for VR. My CPU is i5 6400 and I've been thinking about upgrading my gpu gtx960 to rtx3060ti. Does it make any sense or do you think I should upgrade my cpu as well?

I am in the process of making this decision. I have an Oculus Rift (CV1) that I just recently passed it on to my son. I plan to purchase either an Oculus Rift S or an Oculus Quest 2 for myself early next year. I had been leaning strongly toward Quest 2 until I heard some things (can't remember exactly what, maybe latency?) that made me rethink and currently have the Rift S on my wishlist. If my PRIMARY use is tethered (through Steam, though I also have made some purchases from the Oculus store), what's the real difference between Rift S and Quest 2, especially as they compare to the original Rift? Given that it is all currently set up to work with the older Rift, I don't expect set-up to be an issue, but if the newer model has more hoops to jump through compared to the old, that'd be nice to know (though not a deal breaker). I'm not a "high-end" gamer, but I also can't afford to get this wrong. This will completely kill my budget for game hardware for the next 5 years or so most likely, so it's important to have as much information as possible. I'd rather spend a bit more now than wish I'd bought the other because of some hidden issue.
