I'm not really sure, if this is the right section for this question but it seems to fit. Anyways I wanted to treat myself to a VR-Headset for a while now, but I just can't decide what's worth buying. I'd like to play games like Beatsaber, Subnautica, No Man's Sky and Elite Dangerous to name only a few. I built my PC by myself in 2019 with a Ryzen 7 3800X, a RTX 2070 SUPER and 32GB of DDR4-3200 RAM(I upgraded from 16GB because of stuff) so it should be able to handle it? My budget is around 400€. Any recommendations?

Hello everyone, Currently on a 1070. I have a 4K TV and a oculus quest 2. I want to play games like Skyrim VR with a bunch of mods to make it look amazing. Would like to crank up the settings and play with 120fps and low frame times. I was looking at the RX 7900 XTX, because the nvidea offerings are just to wild(pricing). Are the AMD drivers good enough for VR? Heared a lot of complains

Wondering what the best for full body tracking. My gpu is the gigabyte eagle rx 6700 xt and I would be playing Vr chat and racing games through steam vr. If you know any better headsets feel free to let me know. Thanks!

Hey all, hoping you guys can help me from pulling my hair out with this. If anything I hope I can be that one post someone with this same issue five years from now stumbles upon. So I built this my new rig back in December and only recently got off my lazy bum to set up my VR setup. Trouble is, I can't seem to play VR (at least Beat Saber) for more than about 20 minutes at a time before ALL my USB devices drop out and they don't reconnect. When the dropouts occur, I see a small spike in CPU usage (from ~12% to ~30%) for about a second and my GPU gets pinned to 99-100%. Since none of my USB devices work, I have to hard reboot via holding down the power button. Edit: I forgot to initially mention that this ONLY happens during VR. I don't buy newer games since they don't appeal to me so I don't believe I have anything super demanding to try out, but I did run Cinebench and 3DMark once I built the machine for the stress test and it passed them both. Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x AsRock Steel Legend X670E (BIOS 1.18, latest) GSkill Flare X5 32GB (2x16) 6000MHz EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Ultra Gaming 6GB Elgato HD60Pro SK Hynix Platinum P41 2TB via Gen 5 Slot (boot and storage) Samsung 860 EVO (storage) 2x Western Digital Caviar Blue (storage) Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit SeaSonic Focus PX-850 80 Plus Platinum USB Devices: Akko 5075, Logitech G502, Blue Snowball, Elgato StreamDeck, two USB cables at the ready for controllers (controllers not connected unless I'm actively using them) VR Setup: Oculus Rift (2x 6ft HDMI extension + 10ft USB extension), 3 sensors (two with 10ft USB extension) Troubleshooting: Removing Beat Saber Mods Updating chipset drivers Updating GPU drivers Reinstalling SteamVR Reinstalling Oculus Disabling iGPU (I had this enabled because I use triple monitors so I can keep the RIft connected at all times instead of unplugging a monitor when I wanted to use it) Bare minimum setup (full rig, keyboard, mouse, one monitor, VR setup) Disabling PBO Disabling EXPO Reinstalled Windows Single stick of RAM (drops out in 10 minutes instead, also only able to try one stick, see below) The only thing that has worked for me is when I had reconnected my old machine (3770k, 16GB RAM, same 2060) and I had one sensor drop out for a split second in an hour and a half of testing and I had no other issues. Unfortunately I can't try any other troubleshooting since as I was replacing the single stick of RAM, the clip to hold it in broke, and I more than likely ruined my chances at getting an RMA through AsRock (I had gotten a tech to send me the link yesterday but I hadn't filled it out as I wanted some last-ditch troubleshooting). So what do you all think it could be? I'll be sure to update if (MASSIVE "if") AsRock accepts my RMA now and/or a new board fixes the issue.

Hello guys! I am currently looking to buy a laptop in Germany. Based on my budget ( 900 euros ) I ended up with 2 option to think about. Dell G15 5520 i7-12700h RTX 3060 16gb ram https://www.cyberport.de/?DEEP=1C46-00J&APID=117&gclid=CjwKCAiAxvGfBhB-EiwAMPakqk6I7pEZ0yUuIEakiDYQSp2muaRnuHxJYOkLBFoejhMgj15c02_5xhoCQJIQAvD_BwE Gigabyte G5 i5-12500h RTX 3060 16gb ram https://www.cyberport.de/notebook-und-tablet/notebooks/gigabyte/pdp/1c37-064/gigabyte-g5-15-6-fhd-144hz-i5-12500h-16gb-512gb-ssd-rtx3060-dos-ke-52de213sd.html I don't care if the laptop has an OS so this is not a factor. I want to buy something that can give me the option to buy a VR Headset in the future ( I know I won't get a perfect experience since its a laptop system ). From what I understand you need a displayport 1.4 to connect most VR headsets, and I've seen that only the Gigabyte G5 has a mini displayport ( which as I understand it can be easily adapted to a full displayport ). The Dell G15 has a usb type c with thunderbolt 3 support ( I'm quoting the specs sheet on the link ). Also the Official Dell site states that the laptop has a thunderbolt 4 port so I am confused. https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/de-de/g-series-15-5520-laptop/dell-g15-5520-setup-and-specifications/external-ports?guid=guid-4c4cc1ba-66a4-45f0-8dfc-6013a624ddc0&lang=en-us From this video below I conclude that for the Dell G15 there is support for VR but you need to enable and disable things in the BIOS. If someone has this laptop with the same ports ( I guess RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 ) I would be really happy to hear their experience trying to get VR working. So I'm trying to decide which of these 2 laptops to get, I know that the i5 12500h is weaker from the i7 12700h but I see they only have a difference of 2 physical cores ( i7 has 20 threads and i5 has 16 threads ), so I could just bite the bullet and buy the laptop with the slightly waker CPU but with 100% guaranteed VR support. Thanks in advance for your help!

So I have a quest 2 and would really like to play some seated games using my KB&M that is connected to my PC that my headset is streaming from, I want to play using the headset as a larger screen/more immersion. only issue is when I open up something like Dota 2 its in my headsaet as a bigscreen but my mouse doesn't show up only the controllers do and they tend to be buggy when I'm in Bigscreen and trying to control Dota, So I would like to know how could I use a KB&M to play games like mobas and RTS which need QWER and things and quick reaction times faster than using a hand controller to try walk and press keys.

Decentraland a blockchain world will have an event at 3/12 3/13 2am UTC where it looks like someone will be showing off a kiosk to order pizza IRL. This is definitely cool being able to use cryptocurrency to buy pizza in a digital world and have it delivered IRL. https://events.decentraland.org/en/?event=9ad1f34a-4565-498d-bac5-835e9c6b6047 Didn't think it belonged in the news section but thought it was cool

Alright, So I plan on buying a used HTC Vive off Craigslist for $400, yes it's low, also an hour drive away. but that's why i'm here. What is the best way to test an HMD? My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5577G with a 4gb GTX 1050(desktop is better, see profile for specs), clearly not VR ready but would it work to test in a Starbucks or something? What are some other things I should be looking for? (also not sure where to post this, HMD = Head Mounted Display so i'm posting here. mods feel free to move or delete)

I'm currently trying to upgrade my pc to only run vr as thats what its new purpose is, I'm running a radeon rx 570 gpu and an AMD Ryzen 5 1600, Ive had a few issues with visual lag in a handful of games and im not sure what i should upgrade, or if it will be fine when i wipe the drives and have it only used for vr, any ideas on what i should upgrade and what i should get? im not trying to buy top of the line gear just something that it will make the lag less prevalent. my amd software is telling me the gpu is where i should probably aim to upgrade but with some tuning it gets a vram speed of 1750mhz so im not sure if this is whats necessary, it also says my cpu is generally fine and is somewhat better than the minimum requirements but from what ive read the cpu is usually what needs upgraded, im just really not sure what the bottleneck is or what i should be looking for in an upgrade any help would be absolutely fantastic

Hey guys, I need a second opinion before I decide on anything. So I'm thinking of buying a valve index but some people are saying the HP reverb g3 would be a better choice. I'm not even sure if I should buy a VR headset. I feel like there might be a next gen leap around the corner that I might not be aware of. Btw I'm running a GTX 1080 so how well do you think that would run the latest VR games? Thank you in advance!

Hey all, I've recently bought a Quest 2 and there are a few features Geo Locked in my country. I use Private Internet Access for my VPN and I figured since the Quest 2 is android, I could use the PIA android app but it doesn't start the VPN connection. Either the app or the headset crashes when trying to start the VPN. Has anyone else successfully used a VPN on the Quest 2, and if so how? Thank you in advance

Budget (including currency): £1500 idk what exchange is to $ Country: Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, DAW workstation and editing, office work Other details Hi, hope someone could help me out here, in a few months I am looking to buy my new pc and I want it to be able to run anything above 60fps on ultra or even close to 100fps with little to none lag. Also 1440p or even at times 4, I dont know if this is manageable on my budget but the closest thing would be appreciated, also for my DAW I need a beefy cpu roughly overclock in the late 4 ghz range and high amounts of ram to be able to render my editing and have many windows open for multitasking, If I can remember I have a 1050ti, i7 3.9ish ghz, 16 GB of ram. I have done some configuretors but I could build it myself however I am not very confident becuase I dont want to break anything and for such a large sum of money aswell. Any replays will be much appreciated thank you :) P.S configurated build is linked below in pictures

So recently i got an Oculus rift S headset (which is a USB 3.0 and a display port for connection) when I plug in my DisplayPort cable (in all three connection spots including the one where my monitor is plugged in) it does not recognise the connection for the display port. So I am wondering if the connection for my display ports are faulty or what? As i brought my Vr headset to a mates house and it worked with no issues and connected straight away. Its really biuging me why this is happening. I have been having issues with low fps in vr games with my oculus rift cv1. These issues persist across different vr games and settings. The problem I get is that in vr games, I get dips in framerate down to 45fps exactly. I know this because of the fpsVR applicatioon, and it shows under-utilized gpu, sometimes as low as 60%. I don't think it's a cpu bottleneck either, as the highest usage I get is 80%, and it's usually lower than that. I am running at 100% of the oculus rift cv1 resolution, and the tested games that exhibit this behavior are beat saber, superhot vr, half-life alyx, vr chat, and steam vr home. specs: r5 1600, rx 5700, 16gb ram

Hello, since everyone is talking about bottlenecks, I thought I might bring out my long running issue with vr. I've made psots about this before, but I often get very low vr performance, at 45 fps, and some what low framerate in some games such as battlefront 2. I don't know if the vr issue is a software problem, or a problem with my headset, but I was wondering if my cpu or ram might be causing the problem. My cpu is a ryzen 5 1600 AE, an rx 5700, and I have 16 gigabytes of ram running at 2400mhz. The reason for the low speed is that I have 4 sticks of ram installed, and for some reason get instability at any higher speeds. So, my question is, would upgrading to a 3600 and/or swapping to 2 sticks of 8gig ram help with my issues. Not currently looking to fix the ram issue, but if you know how to fix that, I would like to know as well. Edit: Okay, so I did some additional testing. In Half-life alyx at the low preset, it seems I'm having massive spikes in cpu frame time, and gpu frame time is also fairly high. I also am not running into any cpu bottlenecks, though my cpu usage is higher than my gpu usage. My cpu usage was around 50%, and my gpu usage was around 30%. However, I found something. I tried out Echo Vr, which is an Oculus store game, and found that it ran almost flawlessly. Fpsvr doesn't work with games on the Oculus store, so I can't give exact numbers, but it definitely felt smooth, and while it isn't as demanding as half-life alyx, I'm wondering if steamvr is the issue.

First Build, Roughly 2500$, "Future Proof", Help!
Plantson posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Budget (including currency): 2720$ (3000-(830-550(msrp)) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Solidworks and 3d printing, VR and 4k-gaming, 4k movies, tower speakers and subwoofers. Hello, building my first PC. Can spend up to 3000$, and looks like that'll happen because I just spent 830$ (760+tax and shipping) for a scalped ryzen 5900x. That was a lot of money, but I need a new computer, and based on my needs: I can afford a new max budget of 2720$ (3000-(830-550(msrp)). I was trying for weeks to win it on the LTT Verified Actual Gamer Program, but slept on the big day. Looked into buying a gaming/server/maybe-using-gpu-to-mine mini PC on AVADirect.com in order to rip out the GPU and build this tower, but their rtx 3080 prices were not very close to msrp at all. Let me know if you know any other "system integrator" like that who'll let you choose from so many brands and parts in any build. After accepting my position, I decided just to pay the stupid premium on the CPU and borrow a friends GPU until this shortage is over. Hopefully for his sake that's ASAP, but it doesn't look like he'll need it for anything in particular. That brings me here. I have a CPU and I'm borrowing a GPU until markets stabilize. My philosophy is that I want to get the best I can right now and maintain it to last as long as possible. This way I'll be able to run anything I want for years to come without any upgrades. I do care about noise, but airflow/temp and dust-proofing are more important to me for longevity reasons. Thinking about adding sound dampening foam to the case side panels, and possibly a little bit of extra filter material for dust. What do you think about those ideas? I thought about water cooling, but I like the simplicity, price, and longevity of air. I want to avoid RGB and disregard aesthetics- except for the case. I just chose the PCU based on the LTT PCU tier list: A tier: gold black and blue standards, and case compatibility. I'm focusing on solidworks/CAD performance and gaming/VR capability. Would my storage solution be the best option for CAD/gaming? I plan on just putting whatever programs should be quick in the NVME boot drive, and everything else (probably just a large music/movie library) on the HDD. I like the idea of connecting a 1440Hz=<, 4k TV or monitor for gaming (any game, really) and movies, as well as analog tower/sub speakers. The networking speeds are also important to me because I'm a big Rocket League guy, and their servers aren't the best. I can't think of anything else to help inform you of my needs. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for reading, and any help! I recently bought an XFX Radeon RX 6800 XT Merc 319 for my gaming rig, and I've been looking into VR headsets because I want to play Beat Sabre and Half Life Alyx. At the moment I am leaning towards the Oculus Quest 2 because it is not as expensive as others and I don't want to mess around with external sensors. Like many RDNA 2 cards, my card has a USB C output which is often referred to in relation to VR, and if I understand correctly is some sort of implementation of VirtualLink which is "dead" but simultaneously "not dead"? My main question is whether there is any documentation available anywhere about what this port does, what it is compatible with etc. i.e. could I use it to connect a Quest 2 via Oculus Link?
-
Hey guys, new to the LTT forum. I'm looking to get my first VR headset. The Quest 2 seems to be great but I wanna get some opinions about it. My question is really for the more experienced VR users: Is the Quest 2 a good experience compared to a 'full-fledged' VR setup? And what system specs are needed for a better experience? I have a spare room which I could make work, and my brother is replacing his RX 590 fatboy so with a little work I could make a real setup. With that said, I have heard that the Quest 2 is a great experience, it is much cheaper and easier as well even if I don't mind the work. Any input is appreciated!

So i just got into VR with the quest 2. Love the thing and stand alone works like a charm. While connecting the thing to my pc, the issues start. I got a usb C cable, plugged it in and... It will work fine when not doing anything demanding. I can play around in Steam VR home, i can see my desktop no worries. I plug in my racing wheel load op project cars 1 in Vr and it will work for a little bit, but after a while it just freezes completely. When this happens in most cases the GPU fan is spinning on max, the headset still is passing on sound and image, but i can't control anything and my regular screen is black, showing nu input. Turning off the headset doesn't solve this. I have to hard reset the pc, after which everything works like a charm. Got myself virtual desktop on the oculus store, to try it out that way, same issue. To check if my GPU is having weird issues i ran Heaven bench for 15 minutes and it works like a charm. Edge temps are around 62 Celcius and junction is mostly in the low 70's maxing out at 74. Does anyone have a clue what's causing this? Or any potential troubleshooting steps? Thank Remco

This is for an MSI Z490 Tomahawk motherboard, and my issue is when using my Oculus Rift CV1 with four USB connections (1 for the headset, 3 for the sensors), some of the connections on the Oculus program tell me they're running at 2.0 speeds. I've played a little with my Bios to see if there was any setting that could mess with this and found nothing. I've disabled the type c port in case it's a power draw problem but hasn't changed anything. I assume it's the motherboard because this issue hasn't happened with my previous setup using an old X99 mobo.
