so the oculus rift s came out today and i was thinking of buying it to get into vr the only problem is that from what i've seen most vr games arent that popular, with some of the highest rated ones like pavlov having 500 peak players on the steam charts it is really worth it instead of spending money on upgrades?

ive tried reinstalling the wmr software multiple times and using other pc's and yet the same issue occurs. ive looked all over youtube and yet seen nothing in order to fix this i feel as though it might be something within the hmd like a screw loose or something of the sort that turns off the display i dont know! It just occurred to me that the backpack PC setup people wanted to do a few years ago when the headsets had external sensors is now possible with the new headsets like the Rift S that have inside out tracking. I hope someone does a video on that now. I think that'd be fun to watch.

Hello, I've been looking at VR for some time now and always been on the fence due to the screen quality. I figure that it has been long enough and sadly advances in screen quality is not moving all that quick ( or not as fast as I want it at least ). In short I would like some advice on which one to get. My current system: CPU: 6600K GPU: VII Ram:32GB CPU will be replaced in the near future for the new AMD series. GPU is in part used for work, no planned upgrade. As for the VR Headset what I am looking for is: Within a budget of 1000 euro. room scale tracking trackable hand movements limited/no screen door effect ( I tried the rift but did not like it ) Text needs to be readable via the headset. Able to wear over the ear headphones. Optionable: wireless or the option to upgrade to wireless down the road. Use case: Gaming ( I am really interested in the star wars content ) Messing around with UE4 vr dev So does anyone have a recommendation?

Hello Everyone! I am interested in upgrading my VR setup, I currently have a Vive. I want to spend $500 or less on upgrades I can do, I am deciding on buying an Oculus Rift S? What do you guys think?

I have an og oculus rift and have been using a widmovr lense adapter, does anyone know if there's a way to just remove the need for that at all, like an app I can run in the background or something with my prescription typed in?

I'm planning on buying the Index VR. Are there any reasons that I am not thinking of to buy or to not buy it? I was about to buy it but decided to wait in case there were some important factors that I'm not thinking of.

I'm beginning a Master of Computer Science degree next year, and would like to buy a laptop now in preparation. I live in Australia and have a budget of ~$2000AUD, but I am happy to pay a bit more if there is something that has a lot more value for the cost. As i'll be using it for uni, i'd like some decent battery life, and not to be super heavy so that I can move it around. I'm looking for something that has a dedicated GPU, with hopefully the ability to be used as portable VR in the future if it's within budget constraints. Some of the options i've been looking at so far are the Lenovo Y540 (https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/legion-laptops/lenovo-legion-y-series/Lenovo-Legion-Y540-15/p/81SXCTO1WWENAU1/customize?), Y740 (https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/81UHCTO1WWENAU3/customize?guid=865d3e57-032f-4246-a1f5-1217790edc25&options_11=), and MSI P65 Creator 8RE (https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Notebooks/Workstation-Laptops/74509-P65-Creator-8RE-048AU) The Y540 looks great for the price, but i'm a little worried about the display not being very bright, is this something I should be concerned about? Does the P65 8RE have any build quality issues? I'd love any advice on the choices above, or if there are any better value alternatives that I should be considering! Thanks for your help!

Hey ?? So I just found an offering for a Razer OSVR HDK2 for 99€ online. Is this headset worth getting given the OKish price? Just to dip my toes into VR? I am not expecting tons of it, just always wondered how VR is.

I am going to admit this is not an area of expertise for me however I have been researching different ways of augmented reality and virtual reality. I have been thinking about glasses like you’d see iron man wear etc. I know a lot of that isn’t possible yet but HUD’s and augmented reality is getting better. my idea is oled/LCD panels that serve as the lenses, with a camera to provide the input, much like some planes have where the window is a panel. This would theoretically have advantages already like a zoom idea, being able to see distances the normal eye range couldn’t. This is also means you could put the HUD in the panel, so when a message pops up it just appears onto the panel, rather than needing an external HUD system. In simple terms, mini TV that show the outside world, with the augmented reality embedded into the system.

Hi. I have reasonably gotten a new laptop from work which I find quite powerful. But never owned an EGUP or a VR set I'm unsure which is my best option due to I also have a stationary at home. My Laptop Lenovo X1 Carbon i7- 6600u 16 GB RAM 500 GB M.2 MVME No discreet graphics. It does have Thunderbolt 3. I´m thinking of selling my Stationair at home Because I rarely use it because I spend most of my time at my GF house Stationary Speccs i5 - 8600k Kraken x52 16 GB RAM GTX 970 250 GB m.2 MVME 240 GB SSD 500 GB HDD The reason I don't use it is that it randomly shuts off and it's kinda hard transporting a stationary around when I only take public transport. I really wanna play VR but I don´t know if I should sell my Stationary and get and EGUP and a VR set or Update my Stationary graphics card and fix the errors. What would you have done my place?

So...long story short. About a month ago i got my ryzen 7 1700x and vega 64 system up and running. Every part was bought second hand. I was not statisfied with the performance. Even my old gtx 1060 ran vr better than the vega. Well... i sold the whole system and i am starting from the begining. This time i think i will go with nvidia and intel. I am using rift cv1. I have planned to get used 1080ti but i am not sure about the processor since i only have knowledge about amd cpus I have checked the basic benchmarks tho Should i go with the normal gtx 1080? Can you guys help me decide?

Hi all, i have a odd couple of 2080Tiand a R7 2700. So far on Beat Saber 120Mhz my bottleneck is the glorius 2080Ti. The CPU gets max %60 utilization during the game and the GPU goes at %100. The high refresh rate on the Valve Index worth all the spending, the immersion is insane. But there is a catch, the game must keep the refresh rate! The moment you lose fps you lose immersion which is not the case when playing a game on monitor. I was able to get the solid 120Mhz by lowering the graphics settings a little but still, a 2080Ti bottlenecks 2700? No reason for me to go Zen2? I wonder if am wrong at sth but the numbers on CPUID says go SLI rather than Zen2.(Other than VR i only play retro games so i don't care for fortnite or battlefield v etc.) System; Asus 2080Ti OC(oc at 1785Mhz) R7 2700(oc at 3900Mhz) Corsair Vengeance 32gb 3200mhz(oc at 3333Mhz) Asus Strix x470-f Corsair 750 tx Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2, 1 TB SSD Cooler Master MA620p Cooler Master H500M

So I recently invested in a virtual reality headset and everything was going great. My system specs were: 2 x Nvidia 980 SC EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2 PSU Intel i7 6700K 4 x 4 GB RAM DDR4 Dual monitors (HDMI, DVI) VR Headset (DisplayPort) I often let my computer go to sleep rather than shutting down every night. After about 5 days of this set up, when I awoke it from sleep, the second monitor wouldn't wake, in fact, it was no longer receiving signal. I tried reinstalling drivers, unplugging the VR set, reinstalling Windows, and lastly unplugging one of my GPUs (the SLI setup was as new as the VR set, and I was suspecting too much power draw). It worked, at first. After playing some games in VR, I went to reboot my computer to test it and of course the monitor was no longer receiving signal again. After doing a clean install of the drivers 5 consecutive times, it began working again, and that is where I am at right now (I have not tested VR again yet). Other things worth noting: -Both monitors and cables definitely work. -When only one monitor is working, the problem can be narrowed down to the HDMI port on the graphics card not working. -When not working, and booted with 1 monitor only plugged into the HDMI, once it gets passed the Windows startup screen and onto the sign in screen, the monitor no longer receives signal. -SteamVR and the Valve Index are what is being used for the VR side of things. Would anyone out there have an idea as to where the problem lies and would be willing to help me through this? Thank you in advance.

So I have owned a Oculus Rift for about two years and I love it. My main issue with it is the way it leaves marks on your face and how it gets really uncomfortable after about an hour of play. Does anyone have any tips to make the headset more comfortable?

Greetings!I'm looking into upgrading my VR Rig, which will be used to play VR games(duh) and stream some of them. I don't exactly plan to overclock and I'd like to be able to pump the Supersampling in VR games up to anywhere between 1.5x and 2.0x. (but as they say, the more the merrier)I live in Portugal (Europe) for pricing reference. My current specs are as follow:CPU: Intel i5-6500 GPU: MSI GTX 1060 3GB ARMOR RAM: HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2400MHz 14CAS PSU: SeaSonic S12II 80+ Bronze 430W MOBO: Z170A Gaming Pro CarbonCASE: Nox Hummer MC Zero EditionHMD: Oculus RiftMy planned specs are as follow:CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700X or higher GPU: RTX 2080 or RTX 2080Ti (Probably EVGA 'cause of their customer support but I'm open to suggestions) RAM: G.Skill Trident Z/Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200MHz 14CAS (Accepting other suggestions)PSU: EVGA Supernova 1000 G3 1000W 80+ Gold MOBO: Still haven't done researchCASE: Nox Hummer MC Zero EditionHMD: Valve IndexI've been told the 2080Ti is too overpriced and it's honestly not a pretty price to look at. I'd like to stay future-proof and get the most performance I can get from VR, especially with increased Supersampling. Supersampling benchmarks on RTX cards seem to be scarce however, it's hard to really know if there would be a huge difference between the 2080 and the 2080Ti in that regard, but considering I'd also have to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard and PSU, the 2080 might be more worth it going for because of its reduced price. What do you think however, do you have any experience or information on this type of comparison regarding Supersampling and these two cards? How should I choose the motherboard? Besides the basics, I'll need at least a free PCI-e slot for my Inateck USB 3.0 Expansion Card, hopefully the GPU wouldn't block it. I've heard VRMs are an important thing to look at, what are these exactly? Will there be much difference between different motherboards that'll support the new Ryzen CPUs or are they going to be minimal? Finally, ever since I got my i5-6500, I've always used its stock cooler. I don't plan on overclocking so will the Ryzen's stock cooler be enough? I would otherwise get the Noctua NH-D15 everyone seems to worship ahah But I'd rather save that money if I can get by with just the stock cooler.I think that's about every question I have, will add more as they come to mind. Let me also know what you think of my planned build.Thank you!

Hello! Title says it all. The cheaper, the better. The actual budget is 400$-ish, but I want to see what are the options from the better and then see what to downgrade. HAS to be able to VR. My goal in this post is to see main components, storage and whatnot can decide with him. Thanks!

So I'm thinking of buying either the Oculus quest or the rift s, but I am still just a bit confused about a couple of things: What is the difference between their two stores? What games are not available on the quest, buy are on the rift s? I know they aren't released yet, but if you can answer these questions, that's great. Thanks!

Hello, so recently i’ve Been looking to get into VR. Little back story, I have had my 1050ti for about a year and 1/2 and it has lived up to my expectations. 144+ frames in overwatch, Minecraft, fortnite, and many other games I play. Recently Minecraft has been getting bigger and I have been enjoying it again, and I want to try something new with it and VR is that new step. if anyone can tell me that purchasing a VR is a good decision to play some easy VR games, or that I should get a better graphics card before this. Thanks
