Hi, I was able to play on my Rift S with my PC before I upgraded to my Arc A750, when I was using a GTX 1060 3GB. It's not the best GPU in the world, and doesn't have enough VRAM for No Man's Sky, but it at least works with most other games I've played. I am aware that Arc drivers do not currently support VR, at least not on headsets like the Rift S. Additionally, I am aware that the general advice is to completely uninstall your existing graphics drivers before installing a new card from a different maker (i.e. uninstall NVIDIA drivers before installing an Arc card), which I have done. With this in mind, however, do you guys know if it's *possible* to install my GTX 1060 into the motherboard as a secondary card, and use the 1060 exclusively for VR but use the A750 for everything else? And if it is possible, would you recommend for or against doing that? My other option would be to dust off my old gaming laptop, buy a new DisplayPort dongle, and try to use that for VR. However, the CPU on that guy isn't the best and I can't run games like Half Life Alyx because of the CPU bottleneck. Which of these options would be best? Thanks!

Would there be any effective way for me to have spacial mapping on a pi 5 8gb. Im making an ar/vr headset and when i have a virtual window open i dont want it to move with myself i want it to lock in place similar to what you find on quest 3 passthrough. though it doesnt need to be perfect because im sure that will be difficult to achieve on a raspberry pi

Hi, I currently have a second PC to play Index VR but it's getting annoying updating 2 PCs to similar spec. I'd rather just have one PC. I need my PC and workstation upstairs in the attic, but my VR play space is 2 floors down. About 20 meters, considering cable management. So the question is what can carry enough bandwidth for VR and the TV and Keyboard/mouse/spare USB dongle. When looking at the Icron dock video (aside from being expensive) they don't seem to have enough ports and I don't know if they can support an Index signal. Looking at simply running a long active DP/USB over fibre with repeaters and blogging into the headset I would then be missing extra ports for KVM. I've seen plenty of suggestions for the remote VR but those seem to only deal with VR and not sure if they would allow normal use of the PC outside VR (keyboard/TV/controller/mouse)

I apologize if this is in the wrong subtopic, it's a slightly multipronged post. I work in a video studio that has recently started working in virtual production. The desktop has an intel i5 (again apologies I don't know the exact model but it's 2 or 3 years old), 16gb ram and a 1080. It is running Windows 10. Camera positions are received using a vive tracker and processed by Steam vr. The computer then outputs to 2 HD projectors for a combined projection dimension of 3840×1080. This setup was working fine for a while, but during our last shoot, one projector cut out intermittently. We tried reseating cables and restarting the output to little avail. One person said the computer was losing track of the frames in the frame buffer because it would be running for 6-8 hours at a time and that was leading to the picture cutting out, another suggested that the computer couldn't keep up with the rendering but both of those theories sound a little off to me. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with similar things? Also I realize the computer is probably a little underpowered by today's standard, so would anyone have any thoughts about what the upgrade path going forward would? I would think the workflow is primarily CPU bottlenecked, but would getting a gpu with more vram help relieve some of that strain. Said another way, could the camera tracking be primarily handled by the CPU and the unreal rendering handled by the GPU? Or is that not quite how that works. Thank you for any advice!

Help: Wanted to start playing VR again but it's unplayable
Djeunut posted a topic in Troubleshooting
So I haven't played VR in about a year and wanted to get into it again. But for whatever reason any game I try to start, even light games like pistol whip or beat saber are lagging extremely hard. My GPU is reporting almost 100% usage from all the games. I have never had this issue before. I am using a quest 1 with USB quest link. (bandwith is high enough) My GPU is an RTX 2070 super. -
Above video gives a glimpse on how it's done. Mod is currently in open beta and people are already busy creating profiles and modding away at their favorite games. People are currently sharing their profiles via discord/google docs at the moment. UEVR Injector information: https://www.uevr.io/ The end goal is to use the Rai Pal Game Library Manager. List all your unreal engine games. Load a community created profile for that game. (Aliens: Fireteam Elite -> 6 Dof controls, first person). Basically: Load injector -> Load Profile -> Start game -> Enter the Matrix For now you'll have to look around their discord channel for profiles to use. Just to give an idea, here's the list of current game pass games that runs on Unreal Engine that work with the injector. Here's a bigger list of the games that were tested before release. Ghttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZcjCQwzPOltaRZnpYU5_HPihEDareZq_0Ww1DZQ4USw/htmlview# So if you ever wanted to play as the cat in Stray, or as Gollum (No judgement, can mark games as private in Steam now) in VR, it's now possible and it's going to get better and better. PS. Both the injector and library manager are being picked up as false positives currently. That's just one of the current nuances to take into account. There is a learning curve involved, for example you need to know if you use OpenVR(Air Link/Oculus) or OpenXR(Virtual Desktop/Steam).

So I am considering buying a new router since the one I got from my ISP can only do wifi and have a little switch connected for wired. The problem is that my pc when connected to the switch can't find devices connected to the router via wifi. So I wanted to get a router that has wifi and a few lan ports instead of having the router and switch seperate. From the ISP I got this: https://eyenetworks.no/en/air-4920-product-information/ and the switch looks exactly like this just smaller (could not find the exact same) https://eu.dlink.com/uk/en/products/dgs-1008d-8-port-10-100-1000mbps-gigabit-switch So I am not really sure what price point I would be looking at. I could maybe throw 50 dollars on a router and be more happy with it than what I have now or maybe I would need to spend a lot more? I have only ever had the standard routers I got from my ISP. I had considered wanting to use my quest 2 headset with oculus airlink but I am not sure if any router would do or if I had to buy something more expensive like a "Asus rt-ax86u" for example? I play games on pc that is always wired, my ps5 use wifi and is in the same room as the router, and then I use my smart tv that is upstairs that is in the room right above the router. So it isn't a huge house or anything. I hope that someone will be able to give som suggestions or information. Cause I am not sure what exactly I am looking for or what price point I need to look at to get what I just explained?

Budget: $1000-$1500 USD, but willing to go higher if I must. Location: Utah, USA Software: AutoCAD --- I mainly work in 2D for editing large floor plans, rack elevations, and wiring diagrams, but my web-based theater design software (The Cinema Designer) occasionally requires me to open up and work with 3D files using AutoCAD. Microsoft Visio (desktop) D-Tools System Integrator (desktop) Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop Adobe Premiere Pro (on rare occasions) Adobe Audition (on rare occasions) Modus VR * * I don't plan on running Modus VR for at least a year or two. It's residential and commercial 3D rendering focused on AV systems. All they recommend on their website is to get a good "gaming" computer and a VR headset. Probably high CPU clock, single-threaded, with a decent GPU, but for now I'm fine keeping the GPU as minimal as required for AutoCAD. Pre-Built or Custom: I don't necessarily care whether it's a pre-built or a custom build I assemble myself, but I'd like to get this thing up and running within 15-24 days at most. I've never built a PC before, but if the overall price and shipping time is drastically better, and if warranties on the most important parts are excellent, I'll totally do it. Other Hardware: I have two LG UltraFine 4K displays and a Thunderbolt 4 NAS hooked up via my Anker Thunderbolt 4 dock. I tried the online configurator from XoticPC, but the only Thunderbolt 4 option required the Asus ProArt Creator motherboard which seemed really expensive. I've read online that a Thunderbolt 4 card is much cheaper, but I've also read that those cards don't always work reliably, and the set up documentation leaves a lot to be desired. I figured I'd see what people here recommended. Maybe I'll have to skip Thunderbolt 4 altogether and downgrade to USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 which means replacing my dock, lol. I don't care if it's AMD or Intel.

So first if I get this in the wrong category then I apologize, as there is no VR section on the forum so I chose the best I could. So I hoping to get the Quest 3 for christmas. However I have been hit with an road block. I want to be able to play PCVR games which requires the Link cable. Now the cable costs $80 for the main cable. However I have been looking online for 3rd party ones that are in the $20 - $30 range and they say they work with the quest 3. Will those work good enough or should I shell out the extra cash to get the official cable?

i deided it would be a great idea to try to run fortnite mobile on my quest 2 and to my surprise it works rather well apart from one small issue fortnite mobile prompts you to log into an account uppon startup and when you go to log in /create an account the app redirects you to a browser and then well it ist supposed to take you back to the game after logging in but the quest 2 dosent do that it simply closes the browser and i cant seem to solve this so i come here looking for anyone more knolagable than me and who might have an idea ive tried to launch the browser and fortnite at the same time but when you go to sign in it closes the browser window i also dont know if using occuless might work i also found the apk for fortnite on some random website but it updated fine so i asume it isnt the problem

Do you think you could Daily drive a VR headset as a substitute for a monitor and have a good experience? Like if you were playing games or just internet browsing?

I want to buy a budget VR headset to play games like Beat Saber, Half life Alyx, Blade and sorcery, etc since it's now affordable after steam sales, but I don't want to spend lots of money on something that I might not like. My budget is around 5 to 6 million Indonesian Rupiah. Is there a decent VR headset for that price range?

This will be my first VR headset that I will be buying. As it being the first, unsure if the 128gb would become an issue in the future with the current trend of game files getting bigger. I will be buying one in Japan because Meta doesn't ship to my country so whichever one I buy is gonna be permanent. What are your thoughts on which ones I should get? Also would a 5600x, 3080 and ddr4 32gb ram be sufficient for PCVR?

Is the meta quest 3 worth it? I've gotten an offer to buy a friend's brother's vr for 183 USD. I've never owned an VR headset but would like something that will last for future games ( I do have a reliable PC that I will use part time with the VR headset) The cheapest price on the quest 3 is approximately 641 USD. I would be able to squeeze out some more money to buy it but it would take some time. Should I buy the quest 3 over the second hand quest 2?

Valve claims that only 9.4% of current gaming rigs are ready for VR... but as that number is based on the results of the Steam Hardware Survey, we don't think that it paints an accurate picture of the proportion of gaming PCs that are ready for VR that people actually intend to use for VR gaming. So, being a part of this awesome forum community full of enthusiasts, we decided to see if we could paint a more accurate picture of the current state of the "VR for PC" market. If you plan on using your gaming PC for VR, please take part in this test. Run the SteamVR Performance Test that Valve currently has available (through steam, you can find it at this link), and once you have your results, please do the following: 1. Comment below listing the following specs of your PC: Rig name Cpu Gpu Ram Score 2. Add a screenshot of your SteamVR Performance Test results. 3. Answer the poll question in this thread. And that is all we need! Thanks so much for taking part in this fun little survey - let's see how many of you are truly ready for VR gaming! If you thought this was cool and want to take part in another fun survey that we have here on the forum, check out @Jumper118's Cinebench R15 thread here.

Cyberpunk 2077 in VR blew my mind! I'm using Luke Ross R.E.AL. VR Mod because just works, easily and it is actively updated. It cost $10 /month and I've already gotten 2 updates for CP2077 v2.02 in a week. Or just cancel your $10 membership after you get the mod. I wasted hours on vorpx before, and it was interesting but the graphics were poorly optimized. To install you put the REAL un-zip files in the /bin/x86 folder and run the REAL dot bat file. A DOS Window pops open to install the mod. I found the REAL mod looks way better and more immersive. There is also a pop-up overlay to setup the mod in game. I had a steep learning curve in VR, but turned it to my advantage. I play Mouse & Keyboard. But in the goggles I am blind and it's easy for my fingers to get lost. So I Taped Bumps on keys W - X - I to find them in the dark. Now I had to learn how to coordinate my right hand mouse, left hand keyboard and line of sight by aiming my whole head at the crosshairs. It feels just like a Jet Fighter Pilot, or Iron Man Heads Up Display inside of CP2077 VR. I just look at an enemy, then put mouse on the target and when the cross hair + turns red I pop the trigger. The hard part is having to use my whole head and neck muscles to look and aim precisely. The next problem I had was I decided to try an alternate ending. I had to learn how to play in VR while in a MEGA boss fight. Took me 3 days day to figure out how to wear Kurt Hansen down. I have a core i9-10850K, 32GB, RTX3060Ti, HP Reverb G2 (2160x2160 @90Hz per eye). I tuned the settings to max res, lower quality, DLSS performance. Tip #1: Reduce the FOV to 70 in CP2077 settings. It makes the HUD narrower and easier to read. I get solid 60 FPS in the CP2077 benchmark. I gave my HP Reverb the CP2077 Netrunner cosplay treatment. I designed VR tracking cubes, printed then out onto foam core. It makes the centering rock solid. Tip #2: If the centering drifts off, shake your head and it resets.

Greetings, <Background Information> <Current Issue> My headset is throwing an error code 1-8. I have never experienced this specific error before and I hadn't even turned off my computer since the last play session where it worked. Nothing was installed or changed as far as I'm aware. The HP logo on the headset lights up, windows detects it as an inactive display, but it won't turn on. <Things I've Tried> <Specs> CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory GPU: EVGA FTW3 ULTRA GAMING GeForce RTX 3090 Ti 24 GB Video Card (Headset plugged in via Cable Matters Displayport Repeater) PSU: Corsair RM1000e (2023) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply OS: Windows 11 64bit Bios: A.60 I run only one main monitor at native 1920x1080p at 60 Hz. This issue just started up recently where my steam vr will just completely lose my right controller but if i go to the oculus home it's perfectly fine. My second issues is that after about 30 mins of any vr game no matter what my steam vr just crashes or my oculus link just quits. I have been using a link cable for all my pc vr and i have 3 vive trackers 3.0. I have tried reinstalling my oculus and my steam vr and tried it without my trackers on and with air link/virtual desktop with the problem still happening just not as often when using virtual desktop and airlink. Just incase anyone asks i have tried a index and a quest 2 and the problem still happens. I even did a fresh install of windows with the problem still happening. I have a home server build I'm working on, and I considered any idea to combine a dedicated VR PC and my server into one. I currently use a laptop as my main computer, but it's not the strongest with an RTX 3050 Ti and I have no other computers. I don't really want to build both a PC and a home server so I had an idea and I'd like to get opinions and concerns or potential issues I might have. On my gigabit network, I plan to build this machine: i5 12600k 32GBs of RAM 1tb boot SSD RTX 3060 or 3070. My plan is to install proxmox. I will be running a minecraft server for some friends of mine and will be dedicating 2 cores and 8gbs of RAM to it. I also plan to run a VPN and will dedicate 2cores to it (only like 3 concurrent clients) and lastly. I plan to dedicated 4 cores, 16gbs of RAM and the dgpu to a windows VM. With the idea being I will use that VM for my VR PC... Good idea? Bad idea? Should I upgrade the CPU? Am I stupid?

I tried this. Game only renders on the desktop not in the headset. I was able to pull up the desktop inside the headset and see beatsaber opened, but not interact(it treats my vr headset like a mouse) i wouldnt mind low resolution. And slow gameplay. Headsets a vive.
