I am currently facing a strange issue that I have never faced before and have rarely heard of before, The spacebar key is being randomly pressed. I have ran keyboard testers, both with and without my keyboard connected, and both times they register seemingly random spacebar presses. I have ran anti-virus, anti-malware, spyware and other tests, and I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. BTW, I have been dealing with Windows Explorer corruption, though that hasn't affected this before Here is a sample sentence, typed without edits: There once was a magical unicorn called larey. One day, larey decided to go on a wa lk, after that walk, a giant cinder block fell on his head and killed him. The End. (Keyboard: Corsair K70)

Ok, so my friend has a hard drive that is now really slow, obviously because it's an hdd, but slower than usual. He has an insane amount of pop up ads and banners on chrome, and stuff will pop up even when browsers aren't open. I need something that will remove EVERYTHING that could be causing this. I told him to just wipe the drive, but he doesn't want to. and hes not that great with computers and stuff. ANy suggestions?

Hello! This is my first topic on forum and I want to share with you nice piece of software I've been using for around two years. Its small program that protects you from all viruses that rely on autorun.inf files. By that I mean when you connect your USB flash memory or any external memory that has autorun.inf to your computer it will automatically rename it to "autorun.inf_current date_time" and by doing that prevent its execution. I found it very easy to use. Its best to put it in startup folder or use built in function to start with system every time. When running it consumes about 1 MB of RAM and consumes about 17 KB memory on drive. When running, program will be shown in tray and can be configured by right click on its icon. Program IS NOT MINE. I found it on some random site when looking for program that does exactly that. Sorry if there are some mistakes in text as english is not my native language. Website (eng): http://sputnik70.narod.ru/news_eng.html Website (ru): http://sputnik70.narod.ru/ On same website you can find two more programs but I didn't tested them. pics:

Hi everyone am having this problem with my computer where I am getting a small blue globe with a green arrow down on my notification bar. I am using windows 7 BTW. Every time I use my computer this icon would pop up for 1-2 minutes and then go away. I tried clicking it and nothing happens but when I right click I get the option of EXIT. I hate it so much because I don't know what it does and it scares me to think it could be harvesting information and password. I tried multiple virus and malware detection programs and I still see this thing popping up in my notification pane. I have attached a small snippy picture of the culprit can someone tell me what it is and what it does please.

Deemed the/a "Mini Virus" or a "Steam Virus", this phishing scam works by sending links disguised as photo sharing sites, links to actual images, links to screensavers, and similar things to those mentioned, These links originated at a Steam profile named "oneonlyonekey", a profile some believe is owned by a man named Alex Star, although that's probably a fake name. One of the files can be reported here, and you can report the profile by the normal way (going through the Report method on Steam) with the link provided. Clicking on the link itself isn't what will do the damage due to the fact that Java (which hasn't been exploited for five hundred plus days and counting) is used in the process, and means that a website can't immediately run a downloaded file without a popup appearing making you aware of all possible results and their consequences - more info can be found on the Google help page. If you run the file - wether it be a screenshot ('.scr'), image ('png','jpg','jpeg',etc) or other file, then it will be able to do it's work. Some effects have been described as "trading all items in your Steam Inventory to another profile" (possibly the profile linked above) after taking your Steam credentials. if you have downloaded this file by clicking on the link and have not run it: Delete it. Empty your recycle bin. Run your Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware software and quarantine/delete anything evident, although whatever it finds - again, if you have not ran this file - probably isn't related. if you have downloaded this file by clicking on the link and have ran it: Delete it. Empty your recycle bin. Run your Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware software and quarantine/delete anything evident. Change your Steam password using another computer in your home, or even more securely on a Wireless 2G/3G/HSPDA/HSPDA+/4G/LTE network for your mobile phone. if you have downloaded this file by clicking on the link and have ran it; but also have the cash, time, and download speed (to get all your games/programs back): Format your hard drive(s). Reinstall Windows (or another OS).

Hi guys My PC has just ground to a halt. It's a brand new self-built desktop which was all wonderful and lightening fast until a few days ago and now it's barely usable. Steam works okay but I tried to launch Elite Dangerous yesterday. Nothing happens when I click the icon but if I click it a second time it says "You can only have one instance of Elite Dangerous running at once". Elite is not listed on the task manager as a running programme. Also, the machine now does not want to run Chrome and often fails to shut down, needing a hard reset which then boots it into recovery mode. As far as Windows is concerned everything is working properly. Tried to restore to a previous point but this made the PC hang and refuse to shut down forcing a hard reset. No viruses detected by McAfee. Any advice on what I should do? Should I wipe the PC and re-install Windows 7? Should I try upgrading to Windows 8? Any help much appreciated. Thanks, GHP

I believe my computer has a virus as it was acting up a few days ago and last night my Email was sending things I never wrote to my contacts. windows defender did not pick up on anything, and i am thinking i may need some more comprehensive software to find this thing. I have changed all of my passwords and have not connected my computer to the internet since the attack. Any suggestions for the antivirus?

So, I suspected that i got a virus, and since my hard drive and motherboard were pretty old, i decided to upgrade while I am at it. My question is: Is there even a slightest chance that the virus could still be in my computer? I had the Windows installation disc (it is read only though?) in my optical drive when I had the virus, could the virus have transferred itself to the disc, and reappear when I install Windows again? Or could the virus be stored in any of these components: CPU, GPU, RAM, any cables (e.g SATA, cables from the case and so on), PSU or optical drive? I know it is a silly question, but I want to be certain that I don't have the virus any more. Hopefully I posted this on the right place. Thank you.

There's an email going around that claims it's fedex saying they failed to deliver a package to your house. Underneathe it will be a date they tried to deliver, and a button that says "receive packing information" Don't download it, there's malware and a few other viruses in it. My mom was looking through her email earlier, luckily I was standing there and caught it before she downloaded anything. The email isn't from fedex, it's from some random email address that ripped some fedex logos and things off. Just a friendly heads up.

So my brother recently got his replacement SSD from Adata. I setup a fresh USB drive with windows 8.1 so I could install windows for him. After going through the format and installation, I went to IE to download chrome... The browser is crammed full of crap, ads, stuff trying to download, and loading "astromedia". Immediately my assumption is Adata sent a refurb drive without properly validating it. No other drives were connected during this installation, and this only occurs when installing on the Adata replacement drive. I've tried using the long format option and even deleting the entire volume, and still it persists during a fresh windows 8.1 installation. Is there anything I can do or are we going to have to yell at Adata for failing their refurb validation process?

Hey guys, I recently had a nasty run in with a suspicious torrent and thought I might start up a thread on here to see what kinds of scary stuff is out there. Any horror stories and general information on malware is welcome and appreciated. That torrent I mentioned earlier was like nothing I've seen before; it was a full file size (2GB or so) and ramped up my CPU usage and clock speed to max. Offline backups are the savior of my network on this one; ALWAYS HAVE ONE.

Some people are spending 2 hours a day searching and testing antimalware products to protect themselves from viruses. You know what i say on that? BULLSHIT! Today i will give you a ultimate advice to protect yourself from viruses for sake of your healthy Windows. Answer is: YOU DONT NEED ANTIVIRUSES TO PROTECT YOURSELF. A COMPLETE BULLSHIT! Belive it or not, hundreds of viruses come to the internet everyday trying to steal user's information so they could get money OFF YOU! What is solution to this? USER EXPERIENCE BASED ANTIVIRUSES AND WEBSITE. Chances are: that 90 percent of people downloaded program you are downloading before you and they rated it on some websites and programs. This is one browser plugin i recommend you use. It is called Web Of Trust and it blocks websites based on user experiences on them, you can view the comment section for that webpage and you can find out if webpage is hosting malicious applications. You can find it in mozzila or chrome app store. Next website is called: virustotal.com It scans the app with multiple antiviruses on cloud basis and gives you information on detecting of the file, people can report if this application is good or not. And last and the best: Sandboxie: It isolates the file from the whole system and tricks the virus that sandboxie is actual system itself and it will monitor the acts of the application, if it detects that it is something malicious that the file is doing than it will give you a warning and you can close the app. It is better to prevent than to heal, and the same applies to viruses. And just don't be stupid and even without these awesome things you wont be getting into viruses... :) Hope that helps :D Leave the comments below

IF YOU ARE ALREADY INFECTED DONT READ THIS PART Now, if you already don't have a PC infected with malware, YOU WILL. I am a professional with this stuff, believe me, i once got 60 trojans, and got rid of 'em. Now, how do you protect your self? Install a Web plugin called WEB OF TRUST. In 99 percent of cases, 1 percent visited the malicious site before you did, and if they get rid of malicious things, mostly they do, they will vote the website, so you and the 1 percent of poor unlucky guys never get there again, basically, WOT is a plugin which connects to its database and kick you out of websites with poor ratings. And believe me, that's all you mostly need. BUT, If you are a nice guy who goes on the 100th page of google search, where other people don't go to vote on malicious stuff, you should get a protection. Nice one is avast free version, download it at www.avast.com .... Now here's the "fun" part, if you were infected by a rouge program, you are in bad trouble. So what ARE ROUGE programs? Those are programs that diguise themselves into a useful program, even antiviruses. The irony. That is a really popular type of malicious software and malicious software types out there. So what do you do when you get infected? Just follow me. First step: KNOWLEDGE You need to KNOW, do you even have malicious software, that is kinda obvious. Some side effects of having a rouge are: You may receive the error “Internet Explorer could not display the page” when attempting to access certain websites Your web browser (e.g., Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome) freezes, hangs or is unresponsive Your web browser’s default homepage is changed Access to security related websites is blocked You get redirected to web pages other than the one you intended to go to You receive numerous web-browser popup messages Strange or unexpected toolbars appear at the top of your web browser Your computer runs slower than usual Your computer freezes, hangs or is unresponsive There are new icons on your desktop that you do not recognize Your computer restarts by itself (but not a restart caused by Windows Updates) You see unusual error messages (e.g., messages saying there are missing or corrupt files folders) You are unable to access the Control Panel, Task Manager, Registry Editor or Command Prompt. Second step: The safe MODE Now, on windows seven devices you can normally go and boot your computer up and press f8 repeadly (while booting) and you will see the screen saying 1. Start windows in normal mode 2. Start windows in safe mode 3. Start windows in safe mode with command prompt 4. Start windows in safe mode with networking. Press the forth option. Third step: NEUTRALIZE THE ROUGE If you are in safe mode, you are now a happy person, safe mode usually blocks every single app from booting except your basic drivers and windows services. Now you won't be fucked up with the pop-ups. Download RKILL. If your searches for RKILL get redirected, just use another browser, if you live in the 80's here is a trick for explorer. Go to internet options, go to tab Connections go to LAN settings and uncheck anything related with proxy's. This will stop redirecting your searches. If your searches get redirect just download the RKILL utillity on USB, place it in your desktop, name it something else if it already isn't named iExplore.exe, This name is used to trick the rouges into thinking that you don't have a loaded antivirus. Run the Rkill utillity as administrator and let it end all the damn processes that are still malware related. DO NOT RESTART YOUR COMPUTER Now you need to download TDSSKILLER. The link: http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.exe This will scan your bootsectors and repair any damage done. Now you're safe. If the process doesn't fully end, end it with task manager. If it isn't blocked, good, end a process that usually has a extremely long no sense name. If it is blocked unblock it by going to regedit. Find taskmgr or tskmgr, by pressing ctrl+f and typing in the those names. If regedit doesn't find a folder named taskmgr search it yourself, i think it is located somewhere in hkey_localmachine folder. Find the taskmgr folder and rename it to taskmgr1. Now you should be able to open task manager and disable the process manually FORTH STEP: Clear up the JUNK Download malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org to remove all the junk for you. Use some other tools for rootkit checking, and as i said, delete the crap, delete the folders, use CCLEANER and delete more crap. DELETE ALL THA CRAP. To be sure press WINDOWSKEY+ R and type in the run box: msconfig and go to startup tab, if there are suspicious files still starting up, uncheck them. ADD MORE antiviruses and SCAN, until you remove all the damage caused by the rouges. If you are infected right now, and are under special conditions just PM me ;D
